What a gem of a hotel! You almost forget that it sits on a busy city street. We appreciated that it was a little rough around the edges, but quality where it counts. The bed was comfy, the AC worked well, and the retro vibes were fun. We were there with a group for a friend's birthday, and we really enjoyed hanging out by the pool all day. It was clear that the service team was experiencing some kind of turnover/change in leadership, so sometimes service was a little slow because of limited staffing, but everyone was so friendly and worked hard, so it was never a huge deal. This hotel has pros and cons based on what you are looking to do in the area. If you will not spend much time in the room this is a pretty good option. Pros: Good location Relaxed pool area Comfortable bed AC unit was effective Cons: No door to main bathroom vanity, so the whole room lights up when using the sink. Also, there is an additional frosted glass pane in the bathroom that will light up the room if someone is in the shower. It directly faces the bed. Can't see through it, but can be disruptive with the light. Light sleepers: this is an outdoor structure to the hotel. So nighttime is loud with cars, traffic and outside noise. Doors: doors to each room close very loudly and slam shut. This will wake you up at night especially if you're staying on a weekend with people coming and going at later hours. Noise: we had a lot of noise from the guests above us, just normal movement but the sound is not well controlled due to the structure of the building. Keep in mind if that bothers you a lot. Room is JUST big enough for 2 adults. If you have a lot of luggage it will feel cramped. Food by the pool is ok. We came for a staycation for New Year's Eve. We have come for NYE party last year and have come for a pool day before so we decided to stay. Room: the room wss spacious and had fun decorations and design. It had a great size balcony but only one chair. The bed was comfortable. There was a nice refrigerator that had 2 waters in it. It was quite large. The closet had two robes which is a nice touch. The vanity had drawers and had a steamer and hairdryer. There was no iron or ironing board. The bathroom size and shower size are great. There is a frosted window in the shower which wss fun, but if you turn on your bathroom light at night, you wake the other guest. There was a cool Bluetooth retro looking speaker and nice size TV, though we didn't turn it on. The comforter and bed sheets needed updated. They seemed clean but had holes in them. The room was very dusty. It didn't appear it had been cleaned for a while. There is no phone in the room but you can text the front desk. We did not try the WIFI. Paint was peeling off wall and ceiling and could use a fresh painting. Service: there was a $30 amenity fee per night. This seemed quite steep. At check-in no one told us about the daily free drink during happy hour advertised on their website(nor did the bartenders when we showed our room key and asked about it). No one mentioned the daily$15 food and beverage credit for the room. They advertise free Popsicles but when we checked in they said they did not have any but offered for us to buy ice cream. We asked about checkout time because we were not told. Apparently you can get a record player and records for your room but we only found that out from another guest. Service at the bar during the party at Don Woods was poor. Staff was not friendly, and they were more concerned with hanging out with each other than helping guests. The woman checking us in for the party was pleasant. Last year's part was great with servers passing food, champagne toast, and taking drink orders.this year we had food passed one or two times, no one taking drink orders outside and had to go inside to get champagne for the midnight toast. They were supposed to be taking Polaroid pics and that didn't happen and when asked, we were told someone should come around later to take pictures. Last year they had an amazing photo booth. The DJ this year was terrible and never looked up to get a read of people were enjoying the music. Though, he did dance by himself. Food: food at the party that we get was okay. Everything was great... except for our room. We ate chicken and pastor tacos with a DoleWhipped cocktail while lounging at LyloSwim Club. Nice atmosphere and great music playing. Quick and friendly service. At the Say When Rooftop Bar, we enjoy the complementary cocktail. Not sure what it was but it was delicious with passion fruit and vodka. The service was not so good. Our food ended up at another table and vice versa. When we got the Mini Pizzas, they were very tasty and a great little snack between lunch and dinner. At the Cartel Roasting Co. we had two different drinks. Hubby enjoyed his cold brew and my CCL as I didn't like it. He did like it a lot tho. He loved the Poblano Burrito and I really like the blueberry muffin. They were able to heat his burrito but not the muffin. The complementary popcicle from the Pop Stand was SO GOOD. You can take the popcicle at check-in or come back at any point during the stay. We both had boozy ones. Ok the ROOM. So dirty. Rug, floor, chairs, you could see the crud coming from the air filter. Water was leaking into the concrete floor from the drink fridge. Water sprayed out of the shower onto the floor and took more than ten minutes to be only warm. The hotel is conveniently located, clean and has a pool. The bar/restaurant, however, is undergoing a change in management and is in a bit of chaos. Specialty drinks can't be made, food isn't available, and the rooftop patio is in disrepair. Because of the chaos we were promised free drinks by the manager but did not receive them. Instead, we were treated to the sound of someone wearing heavy boots running back and forth in the hallway above us every night until the bar closed. They seem like intelligent, well-meaning folks and I'm sure that they will figure it out. In the meantime, the experience is not what it could be. read more

I don't want to be disrespectful towards the few bad reviews, but I simply do not understand.... this was SUCH a gem.... if your thing is the sterile type of airport hotel, this is not it... it is eclectic, the rooms are so cute it feels like stuff I would own at my own home. The service and friendliness of the staff was nothing short of spectacular. The place feels like a little vacation spot somewhere abroad. It was hard to believe it's in the middle of the desert. The area has tons of the yummiest restaurants we've been too. And the restaurant on site was frankly one of our favorite ones. We swore ourselves we would return. Making a cross country journey, we stayed the night at the lovely Rise Uptown Hotel after finding it listed on HotelsTonight. Honestly, we went in with fairly low expectations but this place blew us away. The rooms were super cozy, the retro vibe of the entire spot was spot on, and the pool/lounge area was a great way to relax post-long drive for an hour or two. The area itself is also cool, with some restaurants and bars in walking distance, and a cute little book store we just fell in love with. The rooms were well maintained and cozy as well. Rise Uptown is a whole vibe - fun, funky, and full of personality. This place is exactly what you'd hope for from all the cute things people post online. We were greeted with a popsicle when we checked in (we went with lime + vodka, which was super refreshing after the drive). One of the fun extras is that you get to pick out three records, and they bring a record player to your room. Ours didn't really work that well--kept skipping--but it was still a cool little touch and fun to browse through the vinyl collection. The rooftop bar, Don Woods' Say When, was definitely one of the highlights. It's got such a cool retro vibe, great cocktails, and views for days. We went up there around sunset and could see Camelback and the whole skyline--it was stunning. Perfect spot to hang out before dinner or for a late-night drink. The pool scene at Lylo Swim Club was just as fun. The setup is colorful and laid-back with tons of loungers and umbrellas. It's very mid-century modern, but in a playful, not-too-serious way. Drinks by the pool were solid and the vibe was super chill. Overall, Rise Uptown nailed it. Came here to say the pool is cool- probably even worth the cost to visit; the food & drinks are pretty good, fun presentation & tasty. Hot tub was not hot at all but I was told that was an issue they were not aware of & they would get out handled. Things to note when booking a room here: *Pool is only available to 2 guests per room, meaning friends coming to visit need to pay to hang out. *Pool does not open until 10:00am- making it difficult to use on your checkout morning. *Rooms can be very small- picture a hipster motel 6, but some rooms are spacious. *No in room coffee *No actual shower door, which is fine but strange *Beds are comfy but bedding is loud, reminded us of hospital bedding. *The loud leaf blowers started around 7:00am & went till around 9:00am, luckily we were up early but it definitely was not peaceful outside. *The mosquitos are bad there right now but I assume that's an issue all over Phoenix right now; they could use some deterrents near pool & patios. We got eaten alive. *Neighborhood is good- lots close for walking/driving in Uptown. This hotel isn't the worst but not great for the price point; unfortunately the free popcycles don't make up for the things it lacks. read more

My mom and I stayed here this Mon-Wed in July. I picked this hotel for the pool. There weren't more than 6 people at the pool at any time but that's to be expected on a weekday. They check your bags at the pool entrance. You cannot bring in outside food or drink. The room was really cute and everyone working here is very friendly. I wish the rooms had 2 luggage racks. They didn't have any. You get 2 free overnight parking passes per room. You get 2 free popsicles (with or without alcohol) and each night you are there, you get 2 free drinks (one per person) at their HH. The HH location changes between Lylo and the rooftop bar depending on the day. I tried some fruit flavored mojito at Lylo HH on Tuesday and it was awful. It was so sweet, that even when you replace half of it with water, it was still too sweet. I also wasn't sure if there was any alcohol in this at all. Couldn't taste it, only the sugar. They can deliver ice to your room if you send a text to their number which they give you at check-in. read more

We loved it enough to stay 2 nights when we had originally only planned on staying for 1. The property was cute, with a Palm Springs/Miami vibe and awesome pool & pool bar area. I used to stay here often and enjoyed it! After my most recent stay, it appears as though the property is either under new management, ownership, or just underfunded. The grounds were pretty run down. The pool was filthy (literal dirt piles on pool steps,) slow response times from staff. We ordered ice cream from the lobby boutique and it was so old to the point of being inedible. This is our second stay here and in three years it has gone downhill. I remember a record player in each room. Not this time. I guess it's hit or miss. The temperature is in the high 90s and we attempted to go to the pool today. Unfortunately, we had to compete with the public for pool lounges. We had to wait in a line that felt like TSA to check in with a concierge in a cooks clothes barking at everyone who came thru. He treated everyone with such disrespect. Challenging the group in front of us as he checked their bags for outside beverages. ( You can't even bring in a water bottle). When our turn to check in came he tried to treat us just like the young group ahead of us. I told him he was rude and needed to work on his customer service skills. He. Tried to make excuses and I just told him to receive the feedback. Honestly, it's his job to make people feel welcome. We didn't get a spot near the pool but were seated instead in the bar area with a promise he'd come get us when a lounge area by the pool opened. Although the non guests in front of us were seated poolside. They should give a higher priority to hotel guests, not to the public. Hotel is prioritizing making money off alcohol over accommodating paying guests. We won't be back unless they make this right when we check out. read more

Great boutique hotel!!! This is our go to hotel when we are visiting our college son at GCU. Staff is super friendly (thanks Rachel), pool area is our favorite, and restaurant staff is great, the food is ok. The staff is very accommodating and this last trip, our flight arrived super early and they allowed us an early checkin and late checkout. The free popsicle is good too. There is a liquor store walking distance, and other shops in the area. The area is a little sketchy but fine during the day. Parking my vehicle in the parking lot was safe. Vibe of the hotel is kind of bohemian vibe, pool vibe is chill and they make great mixed drinks. There is a coffee shop on the grounds. Looking forward to our next stay. Thanks!!! read more

I stayed here for my 30th birthday weekend. Check in was wonderful and fast. The ladies at the front desk were very helpful and welcoming. The complimentary popsicles were a nice touch. We also got a voucher for a complimentary cocktail at the rooftop bar during happy hour. They also sent up a complimentary bottle of wine to celebrate my birthday. The room itself is adorable. We stayed in a room with a balcony that was very spacious. Parking was close to the room. And the hotel is only about a 10-15 min drive to downtown. I saw a review that said this wasn't a walkable hotel. It indeed was. We walked to a bookstore, coffee shop, breakfast restaurant, and liquor store during our stay. I don't think they offer daily housekeeping but maybe you can request it The pool area was small but nice with several day bed and lounge chairs. The drinks from the bar were delicious. My experience was less than stellar. I decided to tag along on a quick business trip with my fiance. From the moment we checked in, I wasn't pleased. The front desk girl wasn't personable. I immediately had the feeling that this hotel wasn't going to be my cup of tea. I specifically asked about the location of the room, I didn't realize they were going to put me in the worst side of the hotel possible. By the way, it was a random Tuesday night, the hotel was not full. Why would you put me in a room staring at a construction mess where work started at 5:45 in the morning. YES, I was woken up at 5:45AM. Bad move on the management to allow a patrons to stay facing a construction zone when they hotel was empty. It was 109 degrees and the pool was empty the entire time. We went for a night swim and there was 1 other person. Their rooftop bar was closed. Their little poolside restaurant was also completely empty. I think they try to make their money on the weekends because they sell tickets for a pool party & their cocktails are expensive and you aren't allowed to bring anything in, even if you're staying at the hotel. They make you leave your bottled water with the hostess. This is nothing like a Vegas pool party, it's definitely a local resident pool party as anyone willing to pay to party in at a small hotel pool has to be a local. The other issue on top of the hotel view and noise was the room itself. The conditioner in the shower was empty. There wasn't an ice bucket. No room service, you have a call or text them using your own mobile phone...this hotel would not be an ideal place for an older person to stay. The air conditioner was broken so it was blasting directly into my face as I tried to sleep. I tried to change the temperature (auto) but it was broken. It was so hot outside, turning off the AC wasn't an option. I ended up getting really sick with a sinus infection which wasn't pleasant at all and the rest of my week was shot. Basically, i had a miserable experience, miserable enough to ask for a refund which they didn't do -some excuse about not being able to provide since we booked through hotels.com. I have traveling to 43 countries and stayed at various types of hotel/motels but this experience ranks pretty low, I think there was only one place in Cambodia I disliked more. read more

Rise advertises itself as a boutique hotel. This did not feel like a boutique experience. Pros-the rooms are cute, clean, parking is easy, location is nice, bath towels are huge and fluffy. Cons- No housekeeping for stays shorter than four nights (which we were not told at check-in) Tried to call front desk multiple times, no answer Used their texting feature to reach out, got a response after 10pm-over four hours after I texted. Inattentive hotel staff Info on website. especially FAQ section, is woefully out of date in regard to services and amenities. Wi-fi wouldn't work, and was unsecured. Overall experience was not at all that of a boutique hotel. It's a quirky, cute hotel with mediocre services and amenities. read more

During another recent trip to the Phoenix area we were staying at a hotel 3 miles down the road from Rise Uptown but I was able to reserve beds at the pool for us to go hang out at Rise for a couple of hours to enjoy their delicious cocktails and menu snacks. This hotel is so cute and really made the bestie and I feel young, wild, and free. The rooms are super cute with modern, dessert-style aesthetics. One of the best things about our stay specifically was that my friend put in the reservations under additional notes that it was her birthday; we get to our room and there's a complimentary champagne bottle sitting in an ice box! Super awesome of them to do that! It was simple but that's how you build relationships/loyalty to your customers. The parking situation was scary as it seemed like we snagged one of the last open spaces, but that was really the only ~somewhat~ negative thing about the trip. The complimentary popsicles when you check in is a great deal too. I was so sad when they didn't have any alcoholic popsicles out, but I got the cotton candy one and my friend got the lime coconut one - both were very tasty. The TV in our room was giving us problems as certain channels weren't coming in at all, but we looked past those inconveniences because we were enjoying our free bottle of champagne more. My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful 4 day stay here and absolutely loved it. From the moment we arrived and were provided a free popsicle of our choosing to accommodating late checkout it was wonderful. The pool itself is worth every penny. It's tranquil and beautiful. The servers at the pool deserve all the props they work their butts off. We would arrive and already have towels at our chairs, within moments they would bring us a pitcher of water and cups and food/cocktail menus. Service was always quick and attentive. The cocktails are creative and unique and for you young instagramers they are certainly insta worthy. At night we enjoyed the hot tub every evening before bed as it's open until 10pm. For Nov the days are hot and rhe evenings perfectly chilly. We also ate at Lylo's twice and it was really yummy. I'd say ira Hawaiian/ Asian flair. I really enjoyed the Humi Humi chicken bowl, soooo good. There's also a rooftop bar that we did not have a chance to check out. The coffee shop on site has some of the best coffe I've ever had but is super duper expensive. My morning iced latte (small) ran me $7 each day, steep but hey its vacation. Our room was hip and fun Loved the oranges on the wallpaper. Oh keep in mind in our room (king with fire pit) the shower is wide open so if you're not staying with your lover and maybe a friend that may be a bit awkward! Rise should be called the LOW! It is an attempt to create a trending place to stay from an office complex. The TV in the room did not work, there are no phones in the room to call the front desk. The radio in the room did not work. The food at their bar was sub par and their pool was dirty and cloudy. The other reviews took us to try it and we wised we had stuck to our first choice. Never in my life have I not had TV. They tried to blame it on lame excuses but how does the bar have TV and not the rooms. We thought we were going to cozy up and watch a movies. The front desk does not tell you that there is no TV and all have scripted rolls when you call. At the pool we were told the pool would be charged to our rooms. They also added 20 percent tip for lousy service, a dirty clouded pool, and bad attitudes. They do not have mustard or any condiments so take some. read more

Stayed for one night. From texas Exceeded our expectations. Front office lady was the sweetest and so helpful. Our room was beautiful and squeaky clean. Comfortable bed and sheets. Air worked great. Smart Tv! My only complaint is the pillows are way too soft for my liking (no biggie) we slept great overall. We ate over at Lylos and it was the best food we've had our whole trip we're Hispanic so very picky with Mexican food but these tacos were BOMB! So tasty and all ingredients were delicious together. I tried the carnitas, avocado and carne asada tacos. The Caesar salad was delicious. My favorite was DOLE whip drink! I'm such a huge fan of the dole whip from Disney world. This small resort was the best experience I've ever had in the many years of road tripping and traveling. I needed a place that was tranquil and comforting. I came across this place through Travelocity and it had amazing rates and beautiful features. Upon check in I saw how safe and quiet it was. The area is PHX is rapidly growing and I love that this hotel was newly opened in September 2020. The Room: As I walked in my room I was ecstatic and amazed by the design and smell of the room. I stayed about 3 nights and spent an entire day in the pool and jacuzzi. My bed was so comfortable that I decided to forget my plans and sleep in to enjoy how comforting the hotel was. The tv is quite large and the record player (Crowsley) made the vibes even better as I played music from the 70s and switched it to Bluetooth and danced with my babe. The area: What I loved the most that made my experience 10/10 was the fact that everything is within a few steps: coffee shop Cartel, book store, restaurant, the Lylo bar and all within steps of my room. This place is dog friendly and I felt at home. Even the dogs were making friends. At the pop stand they had a huge variety of flavors and even had booze popsicles. They make them at the Lylo kitchen. They were so tasty. The Pool: I had guests over that I hadn't seen in years and we had such a great time at the fire place and pool area. It was clean and crisp! The heated pool had to be the best thing on this resort because it was winter time but it sure didn't feel like it. The fire pits warmed me up as I enjoyed drinks with friends. The pool is definitely warm and perfect for this time of year. What an amazing experience!!!! I honestly had to choose between this place or the Hilton in the city and I'm so thankful I chose this place. I woke up in the morning and opened the curtains and had the sun directly in my room and just sat on the balcony and enjoyed the peace. Sarah and Alexis are so friendly and we just talked about the area and I loved their energy. They made me feel so welcomed. I must thank the staff for that wonderful gift I received. I felt this trip hit the sweet spot and is something I will never forget. On the way back to California, I did not want to leave. Overall: if you're in need of a tranquil, clean resort like hotel, look no further because ARRIVE PHX is THE spot to be at. A gem in downtown Phoenix. This place is a perfect combination of vintage and modern style. My wife and I recently stayed 2 nights here for our 22nd Anniversary. It was amazing. The staff here is top notch. Very accommodating. Since they knew it was our anniversary they had a bottle of champagne delivered upon check in. That was a very thoughtful start to our staycation weekend. The popsicles at the front is a very cool idea too. Nice little gift shop type vibe at the front desk. We got a fireplace room since it was November in AZ. We used it one night and it was a great feature. We checked in and checked out the restaurant on the property. The food was great. I had the steak fries and they were fantastic. The steak was perfect and the fries crispy and well flavored. Both nights we spent time at the pool/hot tub. It's a very nice space with a cool ambiance. Servers there to help with food or drink orders. The room was nice. Spacious with cool vintage decor, a working record player and a fridge. Not over the top fancy but nice and comfortable. The bed and pillows are great as well. We watched the sunset at the rooftop bar on the property. It's a great spot with fantastic service, nice appetizers and a good drink specials. The coffee shop on site is ok. A bit high on prices and the latte was just ok but nice that it was so close. All in all, it was a great place to stay. We certainly plan to return here again. Thanks to the amazing staff for making our anniversary getaway memorable. read more

Bed was comfortable but never been this impacted by allergies before. The amount of dust in the room was significant. I had to sleep with the outside door open most nights to get fresh air. Mentioned the concerns to the front desk and received no acknowledgement of the issues read more
