You need a reservation to visit The Blind Pig; only open on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. The…read morereservations were available a month in advance so I was eagerly waiting for our visit. Reservations can be hard to come by and go quickly. I found information on reservations from The DeLand House on Main Facebook page. When you arrive the entrance is tucked away on the side. There was an employee at the door who greeted us and asked for our reservation name. He then asked us for the password which I did not remember. Thankfully he gave us a hint. The experience of getting to the bar area is very fun. As this is a speakeasy the entrance is hidden in plain sight. You must go up a flight of stairs, down a hallway, and from there you'll need to find a certain button to reveal an additional flight of stairs. We really enjoyed the spectacle of this part. We got to the bar area and were surprised by how packed it was. We had a table with a view next to a lovely window seat (great photo opportunity) The decor is fun and inviting. We also enjoyed the beautiful plates and silverware. Service was wonderful. Every employee we encountered was engaging and we felt they made effort to make the experience special. Food and drinks were enjoyable. The signature cocktails are 15 dollars a piece. Beer (canned) and wine is also available. I ordered the corpse reviver no 2. Cocktail. Lightly sweet and fruity. The menu offers a variety of small plates. We tried the chicken meatballs, whipped mozzarella & balsamic tomatoes, and lemon creme profiteroles. Everything was tasty but nothing mind blowing. My favorite were the lemon creme profiteroles which featured a triple berry coulis. The flavors were refreshing and summery. The seating area did have some cool air flow through from time to time but after being up there for a bit we started to feel warm. Overall, The Blind Pig is a very fun and unique experience. One of a kind for this area and makes for a fun night out.

We enjoyed the setting (we secured a couch) for the two of us. The drinks were very good, although at least the first one I had was a bit small (more in the second). Really enjoyed the combinations. And it'snice that they have non-alcoholic versions for those who prefer that. The small bites, in my opinion were outstanding, and we sampled everything we could (except the peanuts). It's not quite a full meal, however, even after sharing 5 of the offerings so we went elsewhere afterwards for a bit more. I do like that they let you linger and don't push you, though we were out in about an hour and a half. For 2 (three cocktails, 1 glass of wine, 5 small plates, $103.72 + 20% tip, $124.46. I would recommend that everyone try this at least once (though I'm unsure if it is accessible for those with mobility issues. A lot of stairs in an old building. Finally, I commend the owners for all that they are doing at the Deland House. Lots of innovative project and a fascinating place for weddings and banquets. Though I do miss the ol' Mr. Dominic's.

Two stars, and that feels generous…read more My wife and I recently visited Bonnie and Clyde in Fairport as part of a group of eight, and we left disappointed. At $117 for the two of us, including tax and tip, we expected a lot more than we got. Let's start with the positives. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The building itself is a converted bank, and the old vault is a striking architectural feature, though we didn't dine in it. The restaurant also deserves credit for offering some vegan options, including one vegan entrée. That said, the issues outweighed the highlights considerably. The noise level was genuinely awful. We were at a table of eight and had trouble hearing each other. The space felt sparse and cold, not in a minimalist-chic way, but in an unfinished way. The whole "Bonnie and Clyde" theme has such strong possibilities it's a shame they didn't pursue them. The food was mediocre and overpriced. I ordered two vegan sides instead of an entrée: French fries and a roasted beet salad. I asked the waiter to prepare the fries vegan-style with just ketchup, but they arrived with two sides of non-vegan aioli anyway. The fries themselves were average. The beet salad was fine but small and forgettable. My wife ordered the king trumpet mushrooms, the only vegan entrée on the menu. The mushrooms were decent, nothing more. Her cocktail special, a kiwi and vodka drink, was watery and bland. A few other frustrations: the vegan items are not labeled as such on the menu, which is an easy fix that would doubtless help many diners. There is only one vegan entrée, which feels thin. And Lagunitas non-alcoholic beer is available, but you would never know it, since it does not appear on the drinks menu. We will not be returning.

I was visiting my friend for the weekend and she never stopped talking about all the great reviews…read morethey received and she'd been wanting to go so of course we had to add this to my visit. There was street parking available in front of the restaurant and on either side of the street. When we walked in the first thing I noticed was the decor. Everything was beautifully decorated and so welcoming. The bar was to the right and the host stand a little further up. I didn't get a picture when we walked in but there was the cutest orange stand and a sign with an arrow pointing to the host stand. They had live music that night and it was pretty busy. Once we were seated we did wait for some time before someone came to greet us but the person that sat us did bring us water. When someone came over they were very apologetic for the wait and let us know there may be a little delay with the food but was very proactive with making drink recommendations and took our food order before leaving the table. Our drinks were delicious! I got the coconut lime margarita and it was so flavorful. My friend got the espresso martini and she said it was so good. We enjoyed the music while we waited and all of the waitresses would check on us anytime they walked by. We ordered a second round of drinks and I got the pistachio martini and my friend got the crème brûlée martini and both were great. I really like this restaurant because they offer small plates so my friend and I picked a few we both wanted to try. We got the stuffed gnocchi flight, arancini classico, and ahi tuna martini. All 3 were 10/10 on the taste scale. My favorite of the gnocchi flight is the one with pesto. The arancini was so tasty and the sauce that came with them was a perfect pairing. The cilantro crema on the ahi tuna martini was the star of the dish. Overall, this was an incredible dining experience and I'd love to come again to try some items from their dessert menu and on a night with no live music.

They also have a surprisingly large food menu, but we just had cocktails and dessert. Drinks were just OK, but the desserts were great! Definitely recommend the chocolate raspberry cake. My only critique is that the table arrangement is setup more like a restaurant than a lounge and the decor is a bit random. If they made it feel a bit more loungey, I think it would improve the overall vibe.

Pretzel pillows were deep fried and tasty, beer cheese looked like it was going to be lumpy and cold but it was surprisingly very good. I would have liked a mustard sauce of some type as well. I might line the bowl with something that absorbs instead of the wax paper. I had to blot several pretzels on my napkin. Stuffed pepper soup tasted great but there was not one drop of broth. It was more like a scoop of tomato rice that could be eaten with a fork. I did like it though. Husband got 10 wings and appreciated the availability to split into 2 flavors. He ordered the "make it a plate with mac salad and fries" but the wings came out solo. When I reminded the waitress they were missing she immediately went to correct that but it still took about 15 minutes to come out. She comped us a Coke for the wait which was sweet but not necessary. Fries were unique, like steak fries but thinner and less mealy. They were almost roughed up or lightly breadcrumbed. We liked. Big disappointment in the mac salad. It tasted like a gluten free option and weirdly crumbled as I chewed. I almost spit it out. Very strange. I'm not sure if I'd go back.
