We happen upon this little gym while driving by to visit a zoo in the area. If you haven't been to the Shriner farm, you should absolutely go! This is the definition of a little country hole in the wall. Tons of locals there, relative small, but with friendly service and really good food! Like seriously, good burgers! The five of us split a total of four burgers, including a mushroom, Swiss, a bacon burger, and the James burger, which was a bacon cheeseburger with an egg on top. The James is one of the better burgers I've ever tasted! We also noted how delicious the tater tots were! I'm not generally one to gush over the accoutrements, but these were magnificent. The fries are also quite good. We were told that they will be under new management soon, but it is apparently staying in the family. This is an absolute must hit if you're in the area! read more

The worst has happened. My favorite restaurant has changed hands and menu. We gave it a chance! All of the things I usually order have been scratched. No more biscuit and gravy lunch, mushroom Swiss burger, French dip, clam chowder, or patty melt. We tried a burger. It was huge, but nowhere near the quality of Dave's patties which were cooked hot and crispy. I'll go for a reasonable sized quality burger over a not-so-good too much to possibly eat burger any day. New hours are only Thursday to Sunday, so that cuts out 2/3 of my visits anyway. So sad to watch this place die after years of great food and service from Dave and Rose. We will miss you. read more

We were staying nearby last weekend and in need of some breakfast before our next hike. Country Cafe was the closest open option, so we headed there on Sunday morning around 8:30. They seemed to have a light but steady amount of patrons that morning. Plenty of parking, and a good location right on the 14 in Lyle. My husband went inside to place our order. We ordered two fairly basic breakfast platters: eggs, hash browns, and pancakes for me...eggs, bacon, browns, and toast for him. The food was prepped decently fast, and the service was cordial. The portions were fair. The pancakes were huge, but pretty heavy so I could only get through about 1/3. The food was cooked to order and good...an average breakfast I would say...maybe nothing to do cartwheels about, but certainly satisfying. read more

A perfectly lovey small town cafe - had the BLT on rye with onion rings both excellent. Fair prices, nice people. Clean bathrooms- notable because we are on another road trip. Not much between here and the tri-cities - if you are considering waiting to stop for food or gas somewhere else along the way you might consider stoping here- the road very limited options unless you are willing to take a drive to a small town off the freeway, sometimes more than a few miles off the freeway. Beautiful country but less stress if you don't need stuff. read more

The service was not good, the wait staff sat behind the register and didn't visit our table once after we got our food. We had to take our cups to the front to ask for more coffee and to ask for the check. The food was fine, I've definitely had better diner fare. The political signs were enough to make me feel weird about eating there and one of the staff was wearing a "college is a scam" t-shirt. We'll take a pass on this place next time. read more

I was riding East Sunday on my 2020 Harley RKSpecial Hwy 14 heading for Willard and Trout Lake wen I remembered Sunday was PRIME RIB at the Country Cafe in Lyle. I changed plans and arrived here at 1130. I had a prime rib sandwich here last year and it was absolutely the BEST. And today I had prime rib, eggs, hash browns & toast. BAMMMMMM. Absolutely the BEST I've EVAAAA eaten. Tender. Flavorful. Great staff. Put this on your HOT LIST. Nice clean bathrooms. read more

I really enjoyed this place. 5 stars may be generous as the food was good but quite normal. But after all we were in Lyle Wa! Service was great, waitress was fun and owners were present (Rose is the boss). It got 5 stars because I enjoyed my time there and after all, that's what it's all about. read more

Started out disappointing as I was hoping for breakfast. But it was noon! Ordered a cheeseburger and some taster tots. Wasn't expecting that much from a very small town diner in the middle of nowhere- but to be honest just the burger itself was among the best regular cheeseburgers I have eaten. The tots were good and they add a free scoop of ice cream for desert. Good food, good service, good price. Don't hesitate to beat your hunger here in Lyle. read more

Stopped in for a burger and a French dip. The deluxe French dip was super! They make their own beef... The sandwich was piping hot with cheese and grilled onions. Crazy good. Burger was good, too! Friendly place to sit and listen to trucker tales. Free wi-fi. They also offer a taco bar on Tuesday. They bring the fried shells (corn or flour), then you fill with meat from a crock pot and go to a salad bar for the rest of the fixings. Looked good. Didn't try it. read more

I want to mention that inside is clean, no dust, but in restrooms not so clean (the owner should use Clorox for sink). I am a local in the area and Dave's pancakes have ruined me forever. I won't even order a pancake anywhere else because they are never as good as the country cafe pancakes! Everything is good and the bacon and sausage patties are amazing. I even married my wife in this cafe the year we moved to the area (I did it mostly for the free breakfast!). If you're ever driving up the gorge, stop by and you'll see what a good country breakfast is supposed to be! read more

This place was a pleasant surprise. Being the only breakfast joint in town, our expectations were low but the server Rose was very friendly and accommodating right away. We had two dogs with us and she led us to the quaint backyard patio where she went out of her way to set up a table for us. Breakfast was the BEST we had after a long drive across the country. This quaint little café had exceptional food and friendly service. The coffee wasn't your typical café weak stuff - it was strong and full-bodied. We had hamburgers and the extra touch of the grilled bun was wonderful - Burgers had lots of flavor too. My side salad in place of the french fries had a mixture of nice green lettuce with a few herbs added - no iceberg here! The complementary ice cream for dessert was a special treat as well. What a surprise this was. It's the only place in town for breakfast, but that doesn't mean the place is slack in service or dedication to good food. The pancakes were great! Really the only choice in town in Lyle for breakfast unless you wait until 10 for brunch at the Lyle Hotel on a Sunday morning. This place is your typical small town greasy spoon diner for breakfast complete with all the locals (men) gathered to chew the fat. When I say greasy spoon, it is a compliment if you like good old eggs, bacon, etc. Which is what I got. Not fancy, but good basic breakfast. We stopped here for a late lunch. The hours for Sundays were 8-2, we arrived at about 1:30 but were warmly welcomed. We had six of us, including two kids. We all a variety of the burgers, and one corn dog. Loved the burgers ! The owners I believe do the work as well. He was cooking, she was out front. It was the first time I had driven the Washington side of the gorge, and I'm so glad I did. This is definitely a go to place for me again . read more

If you want a pulse on the local gossip this is the place to go! Seems to be the hotspot for the locals to catch up and get their grub. Grub which is very tasty by the way! Not only do you get free entertainment (it's not eavesdropping if the convos are happening right next to you) but you'll get a hearty and well-made meal. Fresh mushrooms and gooey Swiss burger was big enough-we shared. The fresh, I saw the fresh little huckleberries myself, milkshake was delicious and well worth the stop. We sat at the counter because the Sunday lunch crowd was here, many locals who knew each other. Loved the box of wedding invites "for family and friends to take". read more
