We have often dined here but tonight's offerings were the worst. They had a couple of specials: pepper steak and tilapia. The tilapia was tasteless. The pepper steak was tasteless and very greasy. In our way back home to PA from the beach we decided to make a stop for breakfast. We arrived around 10am and there was a wait already but we were only promised a 10 min wait which ended up being 20 min. When we sat down it took another 5 min to get a waitress and another 20 min to get our food. We dined with 3 toddlers and they provided us with colors and coloring sheets but the wait for breakfast I was long. The food was really good and tasty. The other details we had to overlook like dirty carpet, simple decorations and one waitress for each large room. We had to ask for coffee refills. Our three toddlers split the Constitution, which was a huge portion. 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausages, 2 pancakes and home fries. We added 2 more eggs and they consumed it all. Not the greatest breakfast place, but not bad either! The place looks cute and cozy and there's 2 parking lots one in front of the restaurant and one behind the restaurant so at least parking is covered here! I got a kids baby pancakes, and french toast with bacon. The bacon comes in a pair of 2 and the baby pancakes came with 6! My son loved it. I don't recommend the hot chocolate, I asked for whipped cream and didn't get it. Also I asked what kind of muffins they have and I'm guessing the waitress forgot? We were in town for Firefly Music Festival and the employees were so friendly! I've had prior experience w/ restaurants being rude to us because of our reason being there but not here. I'm reviewing BREAKFAST. For lunch or dinner, you are on your own. I think this is the best breakfast in all of Dover. Now, I realize, considering the utterly depressing state of cuisine (I mean, cooking) in Dover, that's not saying a lot, but I've eaten breakfast here for almost a decade about once a month, and it's been great. I agree, they are absolutely clueless on scrapple, but the rest of the breakfasts are excellent. I like the french toast, the pancakes are huge, but I either get the Aegean Omelet (huge, with tomatoes and feta) or the "Brit's Breakfast". This has eggs your way, toast, fried (sauteed) tomatoes and the pale sausages called "Bangers" (though I don't think they really are bangers, probably a Kirby & Holloway pork product.) The service is always friendly and warm. The view of the lake and the flying waterbirds is cheery in the morning. The parking can look cramped (and downright dangerous on the lakeside--I'm waiting for some drowsy patron to hit DRIVE instead of REVERSE and end up in the drink) but there is a SECOND parking lot on the other side of the building, inside the entrance you missed when you turned into the main one. Just circle round back the building and you'll find more parking. read more

We ordered and for our good quickly I got the "little creek" which was eggs Benedict over crab cakes. I have looked at the reviews before going to the Eatery. My experience was somewhere in the middle. Not over the top great nor crushingly terrible. The food was ok, service was slow but the place was busy with the races down the street. The eggs were perfect as well as the corned beef hash. The coffee was dirty water, all 4 cups lacked flavor. Adding one creamer gave you warm milk. Possibly affecting my outlook here was the loud obnoxious women at the next table, who went on and on. Maybe the waitress was trying to avoid her as much as I wish I could have. I would try this again maybe for lunch and sample a special. read more

I ordered 2 Eggs over medium, home fries, bacon and an English Muffin. The eggs were way to gooey, no crispy edges and even the white part was still gooey. Not the way I prefer my eggs. Maybe I just have a different understanding on what "over medium" means lol. The home fries were soggy even though we ordered them extra crispy, it was almost like they already made them early and then just reheated them in the microwave. Same with the bacon. I was prepared to wait 20-25 min to get my food and to know that it was fresh but instead we didn't even have to wait 5 mins for it to come out, no wonder. The only thing that was really good was the Farmhouse Omelet. Orange juice and English muffin were also decent. Very nice location, view over the lake was beautiful and there were tons of ducks in the parking lot which was pretty cool. Went here for the Delaware peach crisp. This place is located near the water. Nice view, small parking lot and getting out seemed an issue. A bus had pulled in blocking the entrance, car behind waiting to enter the lot. I felt my family and I came too early. The host was also the owner? It was 10 to 15 minutes before seeing a server and getting our drinks. They had free dinner rolls which was nice. I had their lasagna which could have used more sauce, a bit dry in the middle. The wife had eggs Benedict with crab cakes on top, can't remember the name. My son had a turkey club sandwich with bacon. We ordered the peach crisp to go. I was the only one to finish. It's really annoying when they lie to you -- on the menu and verbally, by omission -- about what you're being served. I ordered pancakes. One of the syrup options on the menu is "maple." So I asked for "maple syrup." It came in a generic, unlabeled syrup dispenser. Tasting it, it was obviously not maple syrup. Later I asked the waitress what kind of syrup it is. She said, I think it's Log Cabin. On the way out, I asked the woman at the cash register why they didn't have real maple syrup. She said that it's too expensive. I know it is, so why not offer it but charge extra for it? That would be much better than misrepresenting what you're serving to customers. read more

Let's face it, we have limited options in Dover when it comes to a good breakfast. Thankfully Countrie Eatery hits it out of the park. For about $8 I can get bottomless coffee and a meal of one piece of bacon, one sausage, one huge piece of scrapple, one pancake and home fries. Add in some toast and I'm so full I skip lunch. The is a favorite for locals so it is packed for breakfast, especially on Saturdays. I suggest a brunch instead to avoid the crowds. read more

I hate giving out one star reviews but this place truly deserves one. I'll start off by saying that the food is about the same quality as a waffle house but more expensive. However that is not why this place gets one star from me. I am giving this place one star because they are simply stuck in some old times, the staff is an older crowd and seemed kind of stubborn. We went in for some breakfast and we expressed to the waitress about some serious food allergies and she really did not try to make any suggestions or try to find out what allergens their bread contained she just said how she had other tables to attend and did not have time. In this day in age it is just unacceptable for any establishment that serves food to ignore food allergies there are just no excuses. Just average...had the Little Creek with "home fries" that were literally mushy, broiled red skin potatoes. It's right on the lake which is nice but a bit dirty. My hot tea tasted like dirty water. I just read the other reviews before I write mine. Discounting the youngster who does not like hanging around old people, the reviews were decent, but with fairly low ratings. My wife and I ate lunch there today. We found the place by accident, having just come out of the Big Lots parking lot almost directly across the street. We lost our favorite restaurant in Dover when a Viet Namese place changed owners. SO, we were looking for another restaurant that was not a chain. As we walked through the door, we saw the daily specials. My wife happily noticed that one lunch special was broiled fresh sea trout. I LOVE sea trout and very rarely see it in a restaurant (or grocery, for that matter). It WAS FRESH, and it was cooked PERFECTLY! My fish came with two sides AND dessert ... Creme Brule. The dessert was also PERFECT - my only complaint ... The creme brule was HUMUNGOUS. Big enough for three people. My wife had a meatball and cheese sub. She is fussy about both meatballs and tomato sauce. She liked BOTH and thought the the sub could not have been better. She had rice pudding for dessert. The waitress kindly sprinkled raisins on top. We like raisins in our rice pudding. Two entrees, three sides, two beverages, two desserts all for LESS THAN $20.00!!!! That brings me to the service. Our waitress, "Stephanie," was WONDERFUL. She was attentive without being annoying. She took care of ALL our needs cheerfully and promptly. BTW, as mentioned in another review, the restaurant has a beautiful view of Silver Lake. Countrie Eatery sits on the edge of the lake. In Dover? Want a fresh cooked meal that is also a bargain? Try the Countrie Eatery and ignore the old folks. Went there based on other reviews, but it was very disappointing. The other enthusiastic reviews are a bit overboard, they obviously dont get out much. Flies should not be flying around the tables, half dozen. You know their in the kitchen too! Ordered homefries w/veggies added, they didnt come well done as requested. Very small amount. 'Homemade muffin', blueberry, sad, very very sad...small, dry, no taste.... Positive, only $1. Service was fine.... I was worried since a lot of reviews were saying there were lots of older people, it being in DE, I've ran into some unspoken racism and I thought that it would be kind of racist, but it's not at all. I saw a lot of great reviews for the restaurant so hubby & I decided to go check out the restaurant. Went on a Saturday morning for breakfast. I was not overwhelmed by the food or the service. My food had to go back to the kitchen because the kitchen did not make the eggs over medium. This is not a special request. My toast was burnt as well. The service was lack luster. Once the food did come back correctly, I no longer wanted to eat, therefore I can not say the food was good or bad. Maybe we went on a bad day.....I don't know. We will not return. read more

IHOP... Bob Evans... those are places where you "eat". This is a place you enjoy. The people, the food, the atmosphere make this a destination. We had a truly relaxing meal that made a great start to the day. I had the Brits breakfast... two eggs, 2 perfectly cooked eggs, grilled tomatoes and toast. And frequently refreshed coffee served by a polite and friendly waitress. Menu selection is just right - variety of staples with local additions. And this place is super clean and well maintained. Nice location. Right on the water which is nice if you get a table with a view (we did). I gave them a 4 but my wife gave them a 3 just because she said the potatoes tasted off. If you get the Home Fries make sure to get it with onions. I tried the potatoes and they tasted fine to me. The Sweet Potatoe Pancakes are a MUST don't miss out on those. Coffee wasn't ridiculously strong which is a plus. I would've rated them a 3.We will definitely be coming back. read more

One of the few places in the Dover vicinity serving brunch. The scrapple was different than I'm used to, but the portion was huge. The sausage and crispy bacon were delicious, the home fries were good, and the french toast was pretty good. I would pass on the pancakes, though.
