I went to this diner while visiting Delaware with my family. The four of us were seated very quickly in a wi dow booth. I ordered the Quarterback Platter. The platter consisted of: 3 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, 2 slices of scrapple, grits or home fries, toast or biscuit. I chose the home fries and toast. When the food arrived I was excited until I noticed the bacon and scrapple were over cooked. Both were crispy and hard. I didn't complain though because it seemed really busy. My gosh the food is delicious at this diner. The staff is very knowledgeable and have no problem with helping you. The only problem that I personally had was in one part it was too chilly for me. Had a good dinner last night. My MIL was craving Liver n Onions. Not my bag but she loved it. We had Fried Chicken & our sides of Mashed taters, green beans, & picked beets hit the spot. Sheba and I decided we were quite hungry after a morning of trails & such. We decided grand to our handy dandy Yelp app to check out the Hollywood Diner. It's a real diner, meaning lots of chrome and linoleum, a counter with desserts in a glass case, etc. We were seated promptly and brought drinks, then given time to review the substantial menu. I chose the special chili stuffed potato skins. I pray that these will become part of their regular menu because they were delicious. Sheba got the monte cristo which she happily devoured. This was a very "just ok" breakfast experience. As diners go, it was fine. The service was the best part of the experience. The people were kind and attentive. The food was edible but not amazing. I ordered the 2x2x2 breakfast with scrapple. I'd never had scrapple so have included a video showing it off for anyone else who never tried it and might be curious. It was crisp on the outside but surprisingly soft in the center. Visually, there were very few pork scraps included...so the taste was mainly from the cornmeal/flour mixture used to create the filler. Because of this, the best way I can describe it is like friend gravy. It was okay but I wouldn't order it again. My toddlers happily ate their pancakes and Turkey sausage. I enjoyed my time at this diner. We came in on a Sunday evening and had the choice of the lunch/dinner menu AND the breakfast menu. I got a Monte Cristo sandwich. This was different from any other Monte Cristo sandwiches that I've had because it was served open faced. It did not have powered sugar or preserves, so I asked for some jelly. It was quite tasty. I enjoyed it. The french fries were good as well. My son had the double cheeseburger with bacon. It was big and he said it was very good. For dessert we ordered a piece of cannoli cake. I would not order that again, as I did not care for it. The cake seemed dry, and I couldn't really taste the cannoli flavor. I'm confused as to why they called it a cannoli cake. Our server was Dominique and she was a sweetheart. Very friendly and attentive to our needs. The ambiance was fun! The diner had booths, tables, and countertop service. This is a place that is diner-ish. Food is tasty. It was just what I was looking for! The meatloaf was tasty/flavorful. Gravy was a good , just the right consistency, for me. This was one of those rare occasions when you wish you could rate higher the 5 stars, Dover needs more restaurants like this one. We came to Hollywood Diner for Breakfast. Even though it was Mother's Day and the parking lot was full, we were seated quickly and everyone leaving during our short wait was smiling obviously happy with their visit too. I don't know why this restaurant gets so many good reviews. I found the food bland and not what I heard or read. My order was the seafood omelet with grits. The omelet was supposed to include shrimp & scallops. If i had 3 shrimp it was a lot. The scallops were no where to be found. Scallops wer non-existant. Overall the omelet was bland and unappetizing. I could have floated in the grits since they were so watery. No taste whatsoever.
