I had chicken and dumplings dinner and the bacon fries appetizer, both were delicious and the price was great. The location is a little annoying since it's in the mall and parking can be a pain during the holiday season. My server was wonderful, but the server at the next table was annoying the guests with telling them her life story about how she is a phlebotomist and plans to be a veterinarian. NO ONE CARES!!! I made the mistake of ordering lunch for my husband & I at Cotton Patch on the day of their 75th birthday $5.00 meal. I placed the order on their website & immediately got an email at 1:16 saying they had received my order & it would be ready at 2:11. I got to the mall parking lot where they are located at 1:23. The line was about 20 vehicles ahead of me. Quickly there was 10 vehicles behind me. People were getting out of their vehicles & going Inside to get there food but leaving their car in the line. This created a mess which caused people to cut in line & fill in the open area between the empty vehicle & the one that advanced forward. It was hot & I thought there would be a fight by the way people were getting so frustrated. I tried calling the restaurant many times but either the live was busy or no answer. I finally got my food at 3:20. I had been in line for TWO hours. My receipt showed the food was ready at 1:52. So although it had a good flavor it was lukewarm & tasted old. And when I got home I realized they forgot the ranch dressing for our fried green tomatoes. We also ordered chocolate Dr Pepper cake but it wasn't in the sack either. I told the only person delivering the food when she asked my name that it would be a good idea if they brought out drinks for everyone in line. She said "I'll mention it to my Mgr." No drinks arrived but, water was added to my bill (no charge) but that was just another thing I didn't get even though it was on the receipt. Grrrr. I also told her this nightmare situation wasn't her fault. The general manager's job is to anticipate problems & plan for them. At the least he should have called in additional help when the crowd developed. While waiting for our order I saw a guy in a Cotton Patch uniform leave the building. With as many people in line and walking into the restaurant the only way any employee should have left is for an emergency or being fired. One good thing I noticed was that most everyone had on a mask & one couple also was wearing plastic gloves. read more

Felt like I was eating middle school cafeteria food or maybe hospital food. Everything was just bland with no taste. It seemed like everything was not cooked, but rather microwaved. Ordered an appetizer, but the appetizer AND the meal all came out at the same time. So much for the appetizer. I ordered chicken over rice with a side of squash. I swear the chicken patty was microwaved, the rice was undercooked and the squash........ well it was some kind of pasty moosh and was in the shape of an ice cream scoop on my plate. Our server tried his best and we did tip him well, but the food was just not restaurant quality, but more like gas station quality. We've been here a few times since our return to Texas and I must say...it's pretty good! The fried mushrooms are amazing and the steak is always cooked perfect! The only thing I didn't like was the steamed veggies were overcooked both times I ordered them and the salad tasted like a bagged salad but other than that the food is pretty good here! read more

Went to lunch today at Cotton Patch. My husband is on a no carb diet and we thought this would be a good choice. Our server was super awesome. Plenty of low carb options but I wasn't impressed with my ribeye. It was really thin and a little over cooked. His steak was way under cooked. We bought ordered medium. Their salad and baked potatoes were good. We didn't get any corn bread until after we already had our meals. We'll go back again just to see. read more

We enjoy our Monday night chicken-fried steaks. So, all you can eat friend catfish will be fun too, right? WRONG. An hour (drank a glass of wine and my partner had a couple of beers, but NO food ever came). Our waitress (Janet) took our order--we had to flag down another server to get the 2nd beer. At an hour, we asked for a check. "Oh, we are so sorry. Your ticket got lost in the kitchen." The manager did come out to apologize. Tonight was a huge disappointment. read more

This place was very nice! The staff was very friendly and funny, if a bit unprofessional. They were chatting a bit casually when I got there, but it was a slow Monday night so we can forgive them that! My waitress, Ashley, did an excellent job. She got to me right away and took my drink order professionally and politely. The fresh bread was okay; the roll was traditional (if bigger) and the cornbread was excellent - it's sweet cornbread, for those of you who care. Ashley always addressed me as Ma'am. I ordered the 6oz Sirloin with mashed potatoes and fresh broccoli. I ordered the steak Medium, but it came out closer to Med-Rare. It was still a little blue in some parts. Most of it was edible, though, so I didn't complain. The broccoli was very good and nicely seasoned, and steamed. The mashed potatoes would have been good if they had been fresh; they were a bit congealed in the way potatoes get if they are left for a while in a warmer. The interior is friendly but it needs a bit better lighting. The bathrooms looked nice but could have used a quick pick-up; there were paper towels overflowing the trashcans, and that always bothers me a bit. They do offer to-go cups at the end free of charge. This used to be one of my favorite comfort food places. Things have gone WAY down hill in the last few years though. I ordered the chicken fried steak. The breading was decent, but the steak was a bit tough. But the steak was served with about a tablespoon of country gravy on it. Come on folks, this is Texas! A CFS is always SMOTHERED in gravy! I will give credit for the mashed potatoes though. They were from scratch and tasted great. Wifey had an all American cheeseburger. Meh at best. I would have given the review 3 stars, but a total turn off was my view of the kitchen when we were leaving. It was a red hot mess. The counters where cooking was taking place were cluttered with spilled food. The floors were absolutely COVERED with food mess. French fries, bread, and unidentifiable goo was underfoot everywhere! The cooks were slogging through it and no one was cleaning up. I'll return someday hoping the food is better and the kitchen is cleaned up. read more

My family and I have been to cotton patch several times. We have always had great service. The food was always really tasty too. Today my children and I went for a late dinner. My daughter found plastic wrap in her macaroni and cheese. I also found a piece of hard plastic in my cinnamon apples. The manager apologized, but no food was comped. One time I can maybe forgive but two separate meals in the same service. Uncalled for. We will not be returning. read more

So an update... after she ate the over cooked chicken in her salad, that broke my wifes tooth, management calls and gets our information for their "insurance". About 3 weeks later, after my wife gets her tooth fixed.... they call and say they can't do anything to help us with the bill. Insurance is supposed to be "in case shit happens"...well shit happened and it broke my wife's tooth. They should fork out the bill for that! But they took our money the night of our horrible experience and now they are saving money and NOT helping fix their wrong....Poor management and over all poor business. #RIPCottonpatch we won't be returning, but it doesn't matter to you or any of your higher ups...we are just one family that doesn't matter...you'll keep on trucking and not caring about the Guest and ppl will still keep going to your crappy place of business to eat and break teeth. After having a stomach bug come through our house, our family really wanted a nice meal. We headed to this local Cotton Patch after not having eaten there for many months. Everytime we go to Cotton Patch one of 9ur favorite dishes has been change, and not for the better. This time it was the pot roast. It's supposed to be "fall off the bone" tender, but both my husband's and mine were so chewy and tough that we couldn't hardly cut it much less chew it. When we told the waitress she was very nice about it and offered to get us something else. So I asked my son if he was enjoying his meatloaf, as a possible choice for myself. However, I turned around his plate to look at the meatloaf only to find that it was completely rare. No, not slightly pink, completely red and bleeding! The manager was very apologetic and did his best to make things right. Due to the attentiveness of the manager and waitress I'm giving this location two stars instead of zero. read more

I was interested in the soup and salad plate, but was a cold day and wanted to substitute the salad for a warm vegetable. They would not do that so I opted for just a bowl of chicken tortilla soup. Since that was all I was having I asked how big the bowl was, waitress indicated it was a decent size. Although the bowls were wide, they were shallow, so It was probably closer to a cup of soup. The soup was barely warm, and should have been called vegetable soup. There may have been 2 very small shreds of chicken. A Side plate had maybe a level teaspoon of avacado, about a teaspoon of pico and possibly a tablespoon of tortilla strips and a wedge of lime. Because it was a cold day, I ordered hot tea. They brought a large lipton tea bag in a cup of hot water, before I could take the bag out, it was very dark and strong, plus the tea was more expensive than my husbands coffee. For some reason, our table seemed to have missed the cornbread as well. On the upside, my husband did not have any complaints, I tried his broccoli and it was very good. read more

Went there tonight (1/15/16). seated quickly, despite being told it would be a longer wait (which was good). Once seated it took over 40 minutes for food to come. chicken and dumplings were "warm-ish" but tasted good. I ordered fish and shrimp. shrimp was good, fish was covered in HEAVY cornbread coating that was VERY hard and crunchy - maybe the worst fried fish I've had anywhere - and the two pieces were stuck together. it was one big blob of heavy coating with a thin layer of fish - I could not eat it. Fries were limp, like the plate had been setting for a while, but not under a heat lamp. veggies and squash casserole were ok, nearly at room temperature. we like cotton patch but tonight was not their best effort. (I know, what do you expect on Friday night). our ticket has no place to contact to give feedback to restaurant - nearly everyone has a place for you to give feedback...but if they have it, it was not mentioned on our ticket. that is why I am using yelp... I should have ordered the Cajun trio...it is always wonderful! read more
