If you are looking for a down home cooking, this is the place. The food is really good and our server Tyler was very nice and knowledgeable. The service is quick. They serve you hot bread with butter that is really delicious. This place reminds me of black eyed peas restaurant long time ago. We tried the fried green tomatoes it is good with the avocado ranch and the chicken fried steak with jalapeño ranch, yummy. Even their dessert- blackberry cobbler is good.

I was a little spooked out with the ratio of demographics in the establishment. But waiter was extremely nice and she made me felt welcome so I stayed for lunch. My daughter had the cheeseburger basket and I had the Fish Basket. The food was good. Really enjoyed my lunch and the dinner rolls were so so good.

Everything was great!!! From food to our waitress. The environment was clean and the seating area was comfortable. It's relaxed and temperature is just right. The wait was not bad at all for a Sunday, it took three minutes to set our table up and got us seated. Our drinks were refilled and we had a nice portions of food, the country fried steak was a hit, but I only ate half. Their gravy is so good, and the mashed potatoes are perfect. I had baked apples for a side too, and that was yummy. We had the fried green tomato's and those were so so good. The mushrooms were a little salty for my taste. Overall, it was a great experience and we will be taking friend and our family back. The general manager was kind enough to greet us. As a business owner, I value our customers and this was just a confirmation to come back for their food and desserts!! Omg the desserts!!! We tried every one of them! My fave was the peach cobble and the mama's butter cake !!

OMG I was seated fine, after that the nightmare began. The person waiting on me and my wife couldn't speak up at all, walked our drinks and lemons over piece by piece (one at a time), I order an appetizer and specified I wanted it before the chicken fried steaks that I ordered, it came out in one hand right in front of the chicken fried steaks. Kids this is why it's important to listen when grown folks are talking... The fried okra was great, the rolls were burning hot, but good. Long story short, speak very clearly here.

This is the Super Combo Fish & Shrimp.

We went this location on Wednesday evening and it was not business however we got good service. Our waiter was serving as busier as well so he had to finish cleaning the table before taking our order. The hostess who seated us took our drink order and by the time our drinks came our waiter took our order. The food arrived in a timely manner. It was fresh and freshly prepared. Everything tasted good and it definitely has the home style feel if that's what you like.,

Wow...I was expecting this place to serve nothing but chicken fried chicken & fried food. I always drive by this place when I visit my parents so decided to drop by on a Saturday afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised to see salmon on the menu, which is great since I'm mostly a pescatarian. They also have flounder & tilapia. I was with my sister and we ordered the 2 for $23. Boy ol boy it came with a lot of food. For $23 we got flounder, salmon, fries, hush puppies, okra, rice, corn, apples and macaroni. We made 4 meals out of this. We also ordered a side of queso which was good. They have a small bar area with TVs so you can catch the game whilst eating. It was a pretty quiet, family friendly place. The service was exceptional and the guy went above and beyond. I'll definitely go back to get another round of salmon if I'm in town. Peace.

Cabbage was good--greens very spicy! Gave to my sister who rated 9 out of 10 would recommend. Cornbread was like hard day old bread and went into the trash! Bbq platter: BIL loved his plate! Said potato salad was meh but all else good! Hotlinks, ribs, and beans! Sister got fried chicken and added mac&cheese along with yams! Chicken was fresh but not seasoned much! Mac&cheese good for diner menu option, and yams were okay she said! Greasy spoon Mac is better IMO but Granny's oxtails the best I've had here in H-town! Although spicy/hot food is not my favorite I did enjoy them If the cornbread were softer & sweeter I think the rating would be 4! Would I go back? Hmm! Yea for the tails of course! I saw they have catfish & black eyed peas so I may try those next time as well! Overall 3.5 but can't do half stars By default I left it at 4

Fried mushrooms are great, chicken noodle soup great. The flavor of the chicken fried steak and fried pork chop were good but the breading come off which is a bit of a deal breaker for me. Upon first glance of the interior, it looks like this space used to be a bar or something with a huge bar area in the middle of the space off to the right side. There are many circular cut outs in the ceiling where huge room fans are installed. They make all their dressings homemade, and hand bread many of their fried items like mushrooms, onion rings and stuffed jalapeños. They have salads, burgers, and 12 different comfort food entrees. They also have a daily special menu that spotlights a couple items of the day and their coffees, soups and dessert. They are a beer and wine restaurant. One unique item they have on the menu is a fork and knife hot dog which costs $13. Wow, this better be one awesome hot dog. The day I visited, they had a party for about 30 senior citizens that were celebrating a birthday. Normally that many customers in a single group would make a restaurant pretty loud, but it was actually extremely quiet in the restaurant. Every good restaurant does something slightly different to set them apart. Here at dinner, they give you a dinner roll slathered in melted honey butter and rosemary. The roll itself seemed to be made from frozen dough, but the tasty butter made it edible. I ordered the chicken club and kept the fries as my side. As far as presentation, I'd give it a C. The fries are frozen breaded fries. The sandwich tasted better than it looked thankfully. Service was good throughout my time here. Overall, the meal was good enough and I will be coming back to try other options.

(We've asked for napkins 3 times now) I don't think they even salt the water for the potatoes or macaroni because both of these sides are blah. The black eyes peas were creamy and good ( and yes, I had to add salt to these too, but thats a given) once I got the salt right, I loved them. The portions were big enough of the fried catfish and the sliced beef that we could have shared one of those entrees, but we both wanted something different.
