Strawberry - Pecan salad of Spring greens, Bleu cheese, and raspberry dressing... a savory yet light meal.
    Amigo K.

Cotton Patch, a venerable bastion of Southern deep-fry dishes in Rockwall, Texas, was our destination. Big place, big booths, big welcome by the hostess, very helpful. I noticed some rooms partitioned toward the back, for meetings, private parties, etc Started this day with spicy Mexican fare, so when I spotted the Strawberries & Pecans Salad, it appealed. This has Spring greens, sliced fresh strawberries, Raspberry vinegrette, Bleu cheese chunks, and roasted pecans... In a deep, generous bowl. $9.99 This is very tasty eating, but I would cut the Bleu cheese into smaller pieces. And the funny part was... with the dressing poured, now the Bleu cheese and the pecans slid down the greens to the bottom of bowl LOL I ate my way down to the dungeon, to a strong finish of crunchy pecans! The peach cobbler ala mode for dessert was nothing to brag about, mostly thick pastry dough, not much peach to be found. Very attentive staff, clean facility, and it looked like a meet-up spot for local Southerners & friends.

Amanda was very welcoming and has a great staff. She arranged for Makala to be my waitress. Ordered the fried fish combo. No lunch menu but ordered the small and it seemed like a lunch portion. The filet was served with French fries and a delicious jalapeño hush puppies. The tea was good and they made me one to go ! Nice home cooking establishment with a loyal following.

Service was spot on. I decided to try this because I never been here before. My wife has plenty of times with meeting family and such. I started out with fried mushrooms as an appetizer, mainly because they so good. Would suggest to ask for extra crispy, you won't regret it. A good amount was plated and even the wife had some. She had the Texas Caviar, to my surprising -- it was great. For my main course, I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. I was able to swap out the green beans and mashed garlic potatoes for corn and apple cinnamon. Both were great choices. Corn just needed some butter. Fixed it with some butter from the rolls. The cinnamon apples made me think of a nice fall day. Prices were great. Ambiance was just a comfy feeling. Definately will be back. Pictures were of half eaten food. I didn't think about taking pictures when served. Just too hungry I guess.

The honey maple chicken was pretty dry and really sweet. The fish and shrimp were pretty salty but paired very well with the delicious tartare sauce and cocktail sauce. The mac and cheese and mashed potatoes were on point and good too. The restaurant itself is pretty decorated and just a lot of open space. Our waiter was kind but the credit card machine the waiter carried around was not working so they had to check out the default old way which wasn't too much of a hassle. Not a bad spot.

Hey there, my fellow YELP Foodie Fam! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Cotton Patch, and let me tell you, it's the perfect spot to indulge in some delicious bites with your loved ones. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance and decor set the stage for a cozy and inviting experience. With a mix of tables and booth seating, you'll feel right at home. Now, let's talk about the menu. It's a food lover's dream! From mouthwatering appetizers to fresh salads, juicy burgers, comforting comfort foods, delectable sandwiches, and even a tempting selection of seafood, Cotton Patch has something to satisfy every craving. And let's not forget about their specialty desserts that are sure to leave you wanting more. During my visit, I couldn't resist ordering their famous chicken-fried-chicken, accompanied by a side of broccoli rice and green beans. My nieces opted for the kid's burger with French fries and steamed broccoli. However, I must admit, I was a tad disappointed when they didn't have the brown gravy for my chicken-fried-chicken. You know how it is when your favorite dish isn't complete without that perfect gravy. But hey, sometimes life throws us a curveball, right? Although we decided to skip the appetizers this time, I must mention that their fried pickles are usually a must-try. And as for the drinks, I couldn't resist ordering a refreshing peach beverage that never fails to satisfy my taste buds. Now, let's dive into the main event - the food! The chicken-fried-chicken stole the show with its perfectly fried and moist goodness. It was a true culinary delight. On the other hand, I wasn't entirely blown away by the broccoli cheese rice. It seemed to lack that fresh broccoli crunch and leaned more towards cheesy rice. However, the green beans were decent enough. But what truly elevated our experience was the exceptional service we received. Our waiter was incredibly attentive, ensuring that we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Despite the crowded restaurant, the staff managed to go above and beyond to take care of us, making us feel like valued guests. All in all, Cotton Patch is a spot worth checking out if you're in the mood for some tasty comfort food. Just be sure to cross your fingers for that elusive brown gravy! Until next time, happy dining. I forgot to mention you get free yeast rolls.

The service was a bit slow and the floors were sticky but the food was delicious Or at least I thought so. at the end of the day, we were happy enough with the portions and the prices. I think my favorite part of the meal was the fried green tomatoes but we also enjoyed the fried mushrooms Turkey and dressing, All the flavors of The Taste of Texas tenders, and the brisket chicken fried steak. I did read some of the other reviews posted before my visit and I have to say that I didn't personally experience anything To the point where I wouldn't recommend The Cotton Patch but with that said it may be a hit-or-miss situation where I just happened to be there on the right day at the right time and your experience may vary. I did give them three stars based on my experience there, I would have given them more if the floors hadn't been sticky and the service would have been more expedient *Poor *Decent *Good *great *Best *JLFoodie Certified Food. Great Service. good Cleanliness. decent Consistency. good Variety. Good Value. Good

My chicken finger basket. Disappointed in the size of some of the fingers.

One of the things I mentioned before was wanting everyone to feel equally welcomed, and I'm happy to say our recent visits have reflected that. Came for breakfast for the first time today and life CHANGED…read more If you've ever been confused by the question of what you'd pick as your last meal, look no further than the sourdough breakfast panini. The amount of flavor in that sandwich from the perfectly cooked scrambled eggs, to the shredded Gouda, grilled sourdough bread, tomatoes slices, and arugula will blow. Your. Mind. And once it's blown, you'll then get to pop one of the maple waffle fries that come with it in your mouth (and completely remind me of funnel cake!) and you will feel like life is complete, you have no regrets, and if it all ended today you would be able to die a happy human. Finding flavor like this (which I've only found in a few local spots like Zanatas or Fable and Fire in Rockwall) is an absolute diamond in the rough find for Fate! And after meeting the chef, Michael Shelley (who worked previously at a five star restaurant in Cali and has quite the illustrious history - go look him up!), you'll understand why flavors that you'd only expect to find down in Dallas are blowing your mind sitting at Red Dirt Social in Fate. (He also shared with us that the panini is a special recipe he created while working as a a private chef for a family and they would order it just about every other day. Trust me, I now know completely why.) My partner got the breakfast tacos and they were a totally different and just as delicious flavor palette. Packed with eggs, potatoes, bacon, veggies, and pepper jack cheese. The portions are HUGE. Where else can you find this much flavor in this much food?! I love the great seating options and the lowkey setup of picking your own table, ordering at the front when you're ready, and having it brought out to your table. Only complaint was on my partner's double chai latte where the beans were painfully over roasted and the smoky flavor overpowered the chai entirely, but some extra barista lessons needed aside, we're IN. This will for sure be our new breakfast spot (let's get honest, there aren't that many truly unique and good ones out this way if you want more than your typical diner style eggs, bacon, and pancakes) and we'll be bringing friends from out of town here as well! What a gem!

We sat down at our table at Red Dirt Social to visit for 10 minutes - and the manager (or owner maybe?) commented how his space was built just for this reason - to relax and enjoy time. We never felt rushed, or felt like they wanted our table. That was refreshing! The space is lovely - truly! It was bright, open, minimal decor and it all worked beautifully together. Someone out real thought into decorating this space for people to gather and relax, and it showed. I ordered the pats (oatmeal) with fresh fruit and it was perfect! All the fruit blended well together for my oatmeal. I enjoyed every bite. I cannot wait to bring my husband back to see how much Fate has grown and to eat here once more. It's worth it!

I picked up the order, got to our destination, and opened it, only to find it was just standard hash brown casserole. No big deal. I sent a message to Cracker Barrel, made it clear that I understood mistakes happen, and simply wanted to make them aware. I wasn't asking for anything. What was surprising, though, was the response.
