Haven't been here in awhile - but so good! I could've had just the fried green tomatoes and skillet cornbread, and been happy! So good! The patty melt was one of the best I've had in forever! Patty cooked perfectly, cheese melted...so very good! The side salad was cool, crisp and refreshing. Fried shrimp and fish was perfectly fried - not greasy and not heavy. Our waitress was a doll!

Well, I guess we hit it right. Great server and great food! I am a native to the area, but now live in Arizona. When I'm in town, I enjoy a good southern meal. Cotton Patch Cafe fit the bill perfectly! We dropped by for lunch and was seated right away. Cris, our server was pleasant and very attentive. She got our chicken fried bacon order in right away to get it out first and then took the rest of the order. The chicken fried bacon was good, but rich. Just a couple of pieces will do. I think I will drink the rest of the gravy! Yum. The rest of our order came out quickly. I had country fried steak fingers and my wife had chicken and dumplings. Both really delicious. Did I mention that their country gravy is the best! To wrap it up, we had some churro fries for dessert. Also rich, but a nice sweet complement to lunch. In addition to a great server, the manager cared enough to drop by to see how the service was. I always appreciate that. Comprehensive menu, good food and great service. All 5 stars accounted for! It's great to have them in the neighborhood. Thanks folks!

We visited for dinner on a Sunday. Service was decent but was pleasantly surprised by the flavor & quality of food. The dinner rolls were soft and warm. The chicken fried steak was good, the chicken fried brisket was sub-par. The service was slow and not as attentive. There was a 5% surcharge on the entire bill, and we found a little flyer at one end of the table that explains why. Overall, it was good dining experience.

The service was good. There's lots of options on their menu. The rolls and butter were a nice touch. The fried green tomatoes were good. The portions were very generous, but I was disappointed with all the hard, bad pieces of lettuce, as well as the large piece of stalk.

We always stop here for lunch or dinner whenever we're at A&M. If you enjoy country style cooking then this is the place. I know there's a few restaurants in Houston but we've yet to try it only because we feel it's a thing we do only in College Station lol. Ok so we've been a few times and this is the first time I'm reviewing. The chicken fried chicken with gravy is super moist and both the gravy and green beans were packed with that homemade from scratch taste. The turkey and dressing plate wasn't the Thanksgiving taste I was hoping for but this night it just sounded good. The turkey tasted more along the lines of imitation and the gravy had the packaged flavor (how do I know, because I make it that way when I'm pressed for time ) the fried okra was delicious! The fish platter my daughter said was good and I will say- when it came out I didn't smell any fish/seafood which is wonderful! The one downfall we noticed are the portion sizes seem to have shrunk. The waitress and staff are always super friendly and welcoming which is why we'll continue to stop in when we are there.

Was NOT impressed. The rolls were tasty but everything else was very generic. Mac n cheese tasted like elbow pasta with Valveeta. I can do this at home. Fries tasted like Wendy's fries. Don't get me wrong... I LOVE Wendys fries-but for a restaurant, I'd expect something more unique. Soft drinks tasted watered down. The Meatloaf was mushy and had a basic "ketchup" sauce. The Chicken Tender basket was bland, according to my daughter, who generally prefers bland food. Would think long and hard about visiting again.

I wasn't disappointed. The area is beautiful! The ambiance of the dining area is simple and tactfully decorated and the chairs, comfortable. Our sever was happy and upbeat and the managing owner checked in on us frequently to make sure that we were taken good care of. A sure sign that they care about their customers. There menu is interesting with a creative twist on breakfast/brunch fare. I had really good breakfast tacos with a small black bean side. To be honest, I am not a black bean fan but really enjoyed these! The home fries were also very satisfying. They also offered cornbread pancakes that were really something special. The manager said that it was their own take on pancakes and Johnny cakes. My whole crew enjoyed everything! The whole experience was really pleasant and plan to visit again next time I am in town. The restaurant was bustling with a lot of people who all seemed very happy. I thought the ambiance was great which has really left my with a positive impression of the place. Great job crew! Upon arrival, we explained what had happened and asked if there was any way they had an opening. The host was incredibly understanding and sat us at their previously closed coffee bar. We were met by our waitress who was phenomenal- she got us a little candle and was honestly so engaging to talk to. The food was outstanding! So much so that I totally forgot to take a picture. My husband got a curried fish dish that was excellent. It had Smokey greens, black beans, and a full fish in a delicious curry sauce that I ended up mopping my fries in. I sprung for the burger that was so tall, my mouth could barely take a bite. The meat was juicy, and I cleared my plate. All of the cocktails were exceptional, and despite a rocky start to our night, the staff at Ronin managed to eventually find us a small table during an opening in reservations, which made it perfect for us. Ronin is farm to table and a huge supporter of local business which is a plus, not to mention their adorable restaurant is in a refurbished building, and the ambiance is exceptional for date nights. I would HIGHLY recommend Ronin to anyone headed to Downtown Bryan and thank you so much for turning our Valentine's Day around!

Also I love that the menu changes so regularly depending on what is in season. I was not very impressed by the food however. I got the sweet potato dish because it was the only vegetarian option. Out came a teeny tiny platter of 4 slices of sweet potato on a bed of greens. For $22 was really overpriced. Not only that but my grilled sweet potato was basically just burnt. My sister got the shrimp alfredo. It tasted good but again was a tiny portion.

So we did. First thing in the morning. Well, 7am when they opened. We were at the door and seated. Coffee arrived and not too long after, a fabulous breakfast. Mrs. K. loved her French Toast which was cooked properly and there was enough to go with us for snacking later. I demolished my breakfast. Uncle Hershel's with basted eggs, bacon, hashbrown casserole and Mrs. K. stole my fried apples. With the biscuits and jam to share, a fabulous meal. We're huge fans of Cracker Barrel because of their support of the RV life and we'll continue to have great meals here as we travel. [Review 376 of 2026 - 693 in Texas - 25561 overall]

It had been ages since I had been, and now as a gluten-free eater, I imagined just country fried steak, biscuits, and green beans. And while they do have these things, I was so happy that they had a quite diverse menu that I ate from with delight. It's not an exaggeration that Cracker Barrel ended up as the highlight of the trip amongst an onslaught of travel issues. The gift shop one walks through to get to the dining area was stuffed with odd but interesting things, and the dining area itself was spacious and heavily decorated, with a large array of windows letting in some sunshine. Our waitress Elena was young, bubbly, and not to be found without a smile on her face. My steak was perfectly cooked, although with a small bite or two of tough gristle, and my chicken was soooo tender. The broccoli had a great crunch and wasn't soggy, the mashed potatoes were hearty and tasted great without a drop of gravy. Their house salad was shockingly good and almost a full meal despite being a side. I also had a nice mimosa. I was glad to have my opinion turned around.
