I recently switched from another big box club just to take a break. Joined during a promotion and recently went to pick up my card and shop around. This store is fully loaded with so many good things and great prices. It was very bright and clean. The meat prices were a little expensive but everything was packaged well. It's nothing out of the ordinary. I will probably shop at this location more than any other so good to know my way around. The best thing is they have a guarantee where you can get the difference back things that go on sale in 30 days. They have self checkouts, which I love and even better, the ladies were there checking people out and helping to move the line. I got in and out. read more

Costco is the only store in town that carries Shinto pears, they are delicious unless I want to travel to the other side of town, which I do not. My trip was rather quick. For buying in bulk, good. But if you are disabled, if you are recovering from surgery, have a medical condition that limits your mobility. And therefore you need an electric cart in order to shop, FORGET IT. Costco's only has 2 carts and very likely they are outside in the parking lot. And therefore is no one to help you. It's my stop for gas and costco fixings should I happen to be in the Willowbrook area. It's close to my office so if there's a day when I have to go in, I'll sometimes stop here for gas, that $1.50 hot dog, or to shop for last minute items. There's also a liquor store attached as well if you want to bulk-buy your hard spirits. I'm not a fan of how the parking lot is structured. Very haphazard and people do not stop walking so good luck moving if you're within the lanes in front of the store. It's always crowded on weekends so be prepared for lines if you have to come here around then. Of course any Costco is crowded on weekends because of this thing people my age do called "adulting". Staff is nice and accommodating; at least that's been my experience despite what other reviewers might've had. read more

He nailed my contact and glasses prescriptions, outperforming even the thorough testing at UH. Plus, he was patient and informative, sharing great tips on contact lens care and dry eye prevention. I'm making Costco my go-to for annual eye exams. The glasses frames at Costco are a steal. They have a great variety of styles at affordable prices. Heather and Daisy are so professional. They took such great care of my mom. They answered all of our questions and made her comfortable with her purchase. Daisy explained everything to my mom in Spanish. She is such a rockstar. I definitely recommend visiting them if you're in the market for hearing aids. I have always LOVED Costco. This location is no different. The staff is always friendly, the store is clean and well stocked. I have never had anything but a five-star experience at this location. All the items are the same that we had at our Costco in California we have grown to live the oven ready salmon, salads, meatloaf and chicken Alfredo. However, they do not carry the Kirkland branded alcohol, which was so good and affordable at the same time. Bottom line: wonderful store, and is a wonderful ambassador for the brand. read more

I would give them a zero unfortunately they don't have that very disappointed. If you have elderly parents, avoid visiting their optical department. The staff tends to make decisions on behalf of the seniors, but when you call for assistance, they insist on needing your parents' consent. My father was not given the glasses he wanted, and when I called the manager for help, she was very rude. She insisted that my father come in person to speak with her, even though he clearly stated that he did not want the bifocals and preferred progressives, which are more expensive. He had already paid for them out of his own pocket and with gift cards given to him by his children. I would give them a zero unfortunately they don't have that very disappointed. read more

This location irks me. From the staff with chips on their shoulders, to the weirdly laid out parking lot that will forever leave you with anxiety while trying to safely get in and out of it - this location needs an overhaul. I don't come to this one for many reasons including the main ones I mentioned above, but in the event that I do - I take a couple ibuprofen beforehand. :-/ If you can muster up the drive - I suggest heading to the one in Shenandoah... nicer location, cleaner store, and way less attitudes along the way. read more

I got the membership for sole purpose of buying my 24 hour 2 year gym membership for 429.00. When you prepay for two years through Costco you save a ton of money. They have some decent products with savings but I feel like Costco is the epitome of Americans and consumerism. People buying stuff they don't really need. Just wasting money on products clothes food etc because they think they are getting a deal. I feel like Costco's business model is to simply get their clients to spend foolishly while making them think they are getting a great deal. Love this Costco on Gessner and 249. Although always crowded, parking lot is huge. The employees always seem happy and friendly. They seem to enjoy their job, apparent in their communication with shoppers. The building is well-lit, inside and out. The store is spacious, so you don't feel crammed in with the hundreds of other shoppers. There are always plenty of different food samples on weekends. We love trying the various foods and end up buying a lot of them. The employees hosting the food stations are courteous and knowledgeable about the items they're serving. The $4.99 Rotisserie chicken is huge and delicious. The pizza pizza is also gigantic and decently tasty for the $9.99 price. They do allow calling ahead to order the pizza for pickup, which helps eliminate wait time in line, as their Food Court stays super busy. We also love the variety at Costco and selection does vary by location. There are tons of instant savings, good buys and easy return policy. Only thing I don't like is l, I never walk out paying less than $200, but that's because everything is in bulk and I have a shopping issue. read more

I am a consistent shopper!!! , I am complaining about the service I received today. Houston, TX Willowbrook location. While I understand rules and policies, I have a problem when they are enforced selectively. I recently purchased items with my young adult kids who paid with their cards, but today I was told that they had to pay in cash (couldn't use their bank cards) since they were not members. The cashier to me already had an attitude. I then asked since when because I am a frequent shopper here, and we purchased in the same manner a month ago. The scanner then stated since Nov 2024, I said we had been here since then, and I was not informed of this new policy. He said it's new and some of the cashiers enforce it and some don't. I said so it's selective. Another person was called over and said the same policy, but it was "new" as of Sept. 2024, then a third person who was the manager said the same policy but it was implemented in Dec 2024. By this time I was livid because I felt provoked, and profiled. First of all them saying different dates of the so-called "new" policy didn't make me feel better esp since they couldn't get their policy right. They all agreed that they don't enforce this "new" policy with everyone, so why is there an exception now? Why they couldn't let them purchase their items without the BS? I think they are racist, and I'll never spend my hard-earned money there again. Another thing. the quality of almost all of the fruit at this location has gone significantly. read more

Let me start by saying I have been a customer of Costco for decades, I used to have a membership at Sam's Club and Costco at the same time, but about 15 years ago I made a decision to stay with Costco because they were superior in many ways to Sam's Club. Over the last few years I have observed changes within the company's product, quality and prices. These changes have seemed to have accelerated in frequency with the COVID-19 PLANDEMIC. Some of these include dramatic pricing increases on Kirkland brand products, like their detergent, the Kirkland brand lasagna came in a family size package comparable to Stouffer's, It now comes in a two pack much smaller in size but costs more per ounce. There have been many pricie increases on non-Kirkland brands as well, ( courtesy of the engineered fake inflation ) Stella Artois used to come in a 24 pack, now it comes in an 18 pack, and can be purchased at Walmart for a penny less than what Costco is charging, I realize a penny is not much, but I don't pay $120 membership to shop at Walmart. The box of five dozen eggs in the cooler cost $11.39, at H-E-B, you can buy the five dozen eggs box for $6.38. I'm paying $5.19 more for eggs at Costco where I paid $120 per year to be a member just to shop there, explain that logic to me, please.There are many more unpleasantries Costco has imposed upon its patrons that I have not addressed, but the one that pushed me to write this review, this will be the last one I mention. Kirkland brand semi sweet chocolate chips. I had a hard time finding them because they change the packaging from a red bag to a blue bag, but if I remember correctly they are the same price, however I looked at the ingredients and they have changed the formulation used to produce these chips, and it is not for the better, you can look at the pictures I took and see for yourself. Anyway, it's needless to say I am questioning whether or not I am going to continue patronizing Costco as they have turned into another greedy corporation who are compromising quality for profit margin's. The thing that made them stand out from the other bulk stores they are now doing themselves. I was in Houston (March 11th) visiting my BFF. Shopping and restaurants are always high on our priority list along with non stop talking as we try to "catch up"! I hadn't been to this particular Costco so when I looked it up I was surprised to see a mediocre rating as that was not our experience. The associates were friendly and greeted us when we entered. We were on a mission to find an Irish sausage called Bangers. My friend is Irish to the core and although she has eaten them in Ireland she wanted to try to cook some herself for Saint Paddy's day this year. She had spotted somewhere that Costco carried them. This was the third of three planned stops to shop and eat that day. This Costco was very clean and well organized. Considering the large Houston population and the fact that there are several Costco's in the area to support the city I was really quite surprised. One of the team members pointed us in the right direction of where this Irish sausage would be if they indeed did have it in stock. It was the area containing a variety of fresh sausages and a cheese case that was huge with various cheeses from around the world. In the midst of all the sausages we did indeed find the Bangers. We picked up several packages of them. While there I decided to pick up some Omeprozole as I had forgotten to bring it and I planned to be there for a couple more days. The location of their pharmacy and OTC medication was in the same place in this store as in my local Costco. I was in luck as not only did they have their brand (much more cost effective!) but they were three dollars off so I ended up getting a couple of boxes. I have always enjoyed using coupons at Costco because they are automatic at the cash register, nothing to carry around or have scanned in. We really didn't spend a great deal of time here because it was our last stop. We got in line and as I usually find at Costco the lines went quickly. The checkers were very efficient and just like my Costco at home (9 times out of 10) there is another team member to help them and help the customers lift anything heavy from their cart or capture the price without having to move the item to the belt. We were checked out and on our way in no time. This property rates at five stars for me. If you live nearby you might consider giving this Costco a try! I plan on coming back when I am in Houston. I'd like to spend more time wandering around. I'm sure they have some items that are available here, that may not be available when I get home. I have found that although it's definitely a big box store there are nuances depending on the location. read more

Came in as a guest of a friend with a membership and had a lot of fun looking around at all the products and pricing. Some things are better deals than others, and it is hard to resist some of their giant-sized snacks, but I survived with spending less than $50 total (on 3 items). Lines moved quickly even though it was a Saturday afternoon on a holiday weekend. Lots of samples to be had if you are into that. read more

I love Costco but not this location. The staff are beyond rude and unprofessional. The lady working the self checkout attempts to enforce a made up policy of only 1 person allowed at the register because of COVID. This is after we have already been in the store touching 100s of items with 100s of other people. She stands inches from your face yelling at you about this "policy" that is not posted in the store nor confirmed by the corporate office. She attempted to illegally detain us because we had already checked out and refused to acknowledge her antics. Her supervisor then chased us to the door to reprimand us for how we treated her employee. That's rich considering neither of them are actually practicing the guidelines they claim by attempting to hold you in the store longer than necessary while yelling at you inches from your face. Does working the self checkout make one immune to COVID allowing them to touch our goods while being inches from our face? Are these employees regularly tested to ensure it is safe for them to be that close? Why is this self checkout policy not posted some where? The location is number three, as far as if I have to come to Costco, what they have stocked at this location will they likely have it. What happened to the coconut oil? Where are the foodsaver bags? Convenient location close to home, and your one stop shop for anything and everything you need. I mean who doesn't like to grab a quick bite to eat at the food court while waiting for your prescription?! Costco has made great improvements over the years of updating their system for a faster and user friendly experience by utilizing a touch screen to preorder your food! Niceeee! Haven't got a chance to use that yet, but I'm sure the wait time is quite reduced now. Parking can be a disaster and you gotta be like vultures to snag a parking space. If not, use a buddy system! My husband and I would park super far, and we usually know exactly what we need to get. We try to make it a mission to go in and out in a matter of minutes. As soon as we get to the check out lines, I let him know to go get the car. He waits for me by the liquor store and by then I'm already headed out. Everything here takes patients. Getting through dumb cart drivers between each aisle, waiting through long check out lines, and last but not least, waiting through the exit line. My husband and I practice this system often that I think later when we have kids, this will definitely be a breeze. But not looking forward to it anytime soon, so we will enjoy it while it lasts. read more

Let me start by saying I believe in a good work ethic and treating people fairly based on how they treat others. I never fail to say hi and thank you. So with that being said, coming out of costco today, standing in line to get my receipt validated and checked, the person had a blue pen in their hand to mark the receipts, which is very common. I am my usual self, said Hi and minding my own business, while the employee is going through the cart. At which point the employee marks one of the white pieces of clothing that I had purchased. The employee maybe did not notice (giving them the benefit of the doubt), so I pointed it out. At which point I was told to stand in the return line and by the way no apologies. When I said it is something you need to help me get through, I was told to calm down and it is not their problem. Now I had to stand in a long return line, got the manager involved for their employees out of line behavior, and manager was least to say, of absolutely no help. Said they were going to talk to them. And I just renewed my membership at a raised price. Been a member 16 years, and the manager tells me that I am more than welcome to drop my membership. Nice work Costco.... read more

Since I go to Costco so often and it's been years since I've updated my review, I surmised that it was time for me to give my two cents about Costco and the value of their membership. Obviously I continue to frequent this merchant regularly. But regularly multiple years ago is not what's regular for me now. Used to be that we'd be in Costco every other weekend. Now it's every THIRD weekend. That, in and of itself, should be an indicator of what they were and what they are now. Gas: used to be that Costco was a full dime or more cheaper per gallon on regular. Now it's about 3 or 4 cents, depending on the station you find. Meh. We won't drive here just to fill up any more. Hard goods: computer paper is still a bargain (since they carry the 24-lb. weight Xerox paper that I like), but most other computer supplies that I used to buy are extraordinarily expensive (printer cartridge bundles, for example). Limited selection of peripherals compared to several years ago. Television selection is vast - especially if you want a HUGE one. Since I'm not in the market for a 60+ inch screen TV, not quite sure of the price competitiveness. Batteries can still be had for a good price, and every once in a while you'll see a featured item (battery-operated lantern, for instance) at a great price - real handy during hurricane season. Bakery: selection of baked goods has diminished, so I'm a bit disappointed here. Beer/Wine: definitely a hit-or-miss. Wine is a total wash (in my opinion - haven't bought wine here in years), but some good brands and specials on beer can be had if you happen to be lucky enough to be there when they've got it and when the selection is robust. Meat: pass it up. You'll do better at Sprouts or a similar market. Only meat I purchase here now is their Italian sausages (which are, indeed, far superior to anything I've found in a local store). Everything else is MEH. Including their fish, which is often tasteless, tough and very disappointing. Cheese: Oh, yes! You can get some great cheeses here. Pecorino Romano in particular. Big section of the wheel (so you'll have lots of cheese!), but it is by far the best I've tasted. Fruits/Veggies: marginal. Last time we bought a 6-pack of Romaine hearts, half of them were soggy and black when we opened it the next day. Dumped them all and vowed never to purchase them again. Spinach is still a good price, but most other fruits and veggies can be had at better prices and with better quality at your local store. Grocery items: Here's where Costco has really changed. Prices are not particularly good and sizing of packages is always huge. Pricing on toilet paper and tissues is often no bargain, either. Selection of brands has changed, and not for the better. The only grocery item that we consistently purchase is their 100% Columbian Coffee. Still a deal at $8.89 for a full 3-lb. can of good coffee. Pet supplies: We still come here to buy our dog food and dog treats, as that has consistently been worth it. Dog beds can also be found for great prices - and they're high quality, too. Health care items: vitamins (only when on sale or with a rebate) are much cheaper than you'd find elsewhere. Most other items (shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, soaps, body wash) are priced better (and in more reasonable quantities) at other locations. All in all, I like Costco. Disappointed that some of the items they used to carry are no longer available, but we still consistently purchase certain things here. Quality and pricing on those particular items is worth our membership. But, as stated initially, we now come here a lot less frequently than we did in years past. Regarding the Tire Center My parents who are senior citizens were trying to get the tires of my aunt's vehicle rotated because she was ill and couldn't do it herself. The first time they were there, they said they were "booked up for today" and it was only 4:30pm (they're open until 6pm this day). So my parents were told to come back the next day at 5pm. They came back, but were admittedly 10 minutes late, arriving at 5:10pm. When they arrived, they saw the man at the register, and 2 technicians siting outside on a break. After talking to the guy that greeted them at the counter, they were told that all the technicians had already left for the day and to come back the next day. They were given a document and were told that when they come back the next day, it would be all that would need to be presented to get the service they needed. So an appointment was set for 11:00 the next day, and the serviceman reassured them the documents were all they needed to present because it will let the technicians know what is ordered. AND, not to worry, because he would be there anyway, and if they can come earlier, he would try to make it earliest possible. They returned, now the 3rd time, at 10:40am, 20 minutes EARLIER than what they were told for the appointment, and the serviceman from the previous day was not there. NOW, the technicians wanted the membership number for my aunt (who again, couldn't come b/c she is ill). This information WAS IN THE DOCUMENTATION. He said he needed the membership card. We said we could call her and she can confirm it's her - he said that it can't be handled that way. The tires were purchased there, and on the car that they were purchased for. AND we had the documentation to prove it. After my father got upset, now the THIRD time returning for something that should've been done the first time, the serviceman finally agreed to serve them. Further, the technicians were super unfriendly and grumpy in doing the service. I get all my tires from Discount Tire and ALWAYS have IMPECCABLE service, am offered water, and am never questioned about account numbers when the vehicle is in their database. The service is rendered promptly, and kindly, as guaranteed, AND you can make an appointment online. My parents and recovering aunt are so disgusted that when these tires need replacing, they will go elsewhere to avoid this dilemma. For a company that advertises happy employees and ranked as one of the best companies to work for, you'd expect a better experience. read more

Costco has somehow found a way to make grocery shopping a grand event. I love coming here. I always stop first at the clothing and home area. It's strategically placed center stage, almost beckoning you to explore its designer clothing at steep discounts. Last week the fiancé found a Ralph Lauren polo for $35.00. A quick google search showed that the shirt is usually $80 something at department stores. Winning! Heading to the grocery aisles, the kids and I stop off at each of the sample carts. At home, these kids quickly turn their cheek at anything new but somehow Costco has figured out how to get them to try anything. I think the best part about shopping at Costco is their return policy. I'm terrible at keeping up with receipts and when we try something new and really don't like it, it's so easy to just return it. I went to this location in an emergency to put air in my tire that had a screw in it. It was close to the closing time for the Tire Center and they were extremely busy. I was going to have to wait about an hour for my husband to come and help me, and so I asked if they would help me at least put the spare on my car so I could make it home. Mark and Arturo were so generous to squeeze me into their busy schedule and help me; they saved my day!
