To say this Christmas store is overwhelming is to understate things a bit. It carries everything you could want for decorating...and then some. They don't just have ribbon--they have a ribbon room. They don't just have ornaments--they have an ornament room. Same for wreathes/garland as well as picks/sprays/branches. They have large items too, such as sleighs, artificial trees, and shopping mall quality vibrant statues/characters/displays. Most things are well-priced, however the large unique items will cost you much more than most of us will want to pay. Would I compare this place to the decorators warehouse up in Arlington/DFW?--absolutely. Both are awesome for Christmas decor. read more

Craftex - The Coolest Store in Houston Tucked onto a side street in Bellaire, just off of Bellaire Boulevard near Hillcroft, is the amazing Craftex. I discovered the place through my friend, Greg Buchold. I had been admiring a Mardi Gras mask and wreath that he had put on his door and he told me about the place. I went looking for Mardi Gras stuff but was blown away by the extensive collection of cookbooks and design books that they sell, all discounted from retail list prices. But there was much much more. Not sure why Yelp won't let me check in? I tried umpteenth times, and just gave up. It was my first time here, I learned about it a month ago. The main craft store is on the right side. But if you came for Christmas decor, entry is on the left. Once inside it's a little confusing with lots of dead ends and side aisles. They have a small area for lights, but mostly tree decor, ribbon, wreaths, and wreath decor, etc. Outside they have treed for purchase, sticker shock on the prices, some were like $800.00! I noticed the prices are slightly cheaper if you buy items in bulk, like 6 of the same thing instead of 1. I also noticed people had multiple shopping carts of items. I think people come here for commercial properties, office buildings etc. This place is pricey, so it wouldn't be my go-to for everything, but it's nice to take a look around, and get idea inspo. I bought some purple bulb ornaments and disco ball bulbs ornaments. FYI, the Christmas store side opens in July thru the holiday, then it closes until the following year. read more

Interesting store I found through an article on the Nutcracker in Houston. Lots of plastic and foam decor for Christmas that would be good for large scale installations or entryways. I found the prices pretty reasonable and lots of discounts by 12/10. The normal side was even cooler - lots of beautiful, new, relevant art and crafts books 20-30% off MSRP. Tons and tons of ribbon. Like a city block worth. Tons of tissue paper and packaging material. Tons of vase and candle selection. All in all, wonderful selection for party-related businesses. Like a less campy party city. Less of a relevant selection for a grandma in town looking for more knitting yarn. read more

Amazing and vast treasure trove of seasonal decor in one building and a gargantuan selection of coffee table books, ribbon and objects in the other. It was rather overwhelming in one visit and I'd like to go back and poke around some more. Craftex's prices were excellent but note that all sales are final. Be ready for some craziness! In a good way. The holiday spirit lives here. I love the fact that the decorations are actually used on displays for ideas and such. They have people on hand to custom make you wreaths and garlands too! It can be expensive, but it can be worth it too. The decorations are meant to be bought with creativity in mind. So if you don't really have a good idea,m on what you want, it may be overwhelming. People helped when needed and are super nice! My mom was in town and I was told that this was the go to place for a craft fan like her. We went later in the day on Mother's Day so it was a little quiet in there. The location area is quite interesting, you feel like you are surrounded by a bunch of chop shops or something. The selection is outstanding. My mom said if Michael's/Hobby Lobby/Jo-Ann have 1 or 2 options, they have 5. On the other hand the pricing can be a lot more or sometimes a little less than these other competitors. The ribbon & fake flowers/plants sections are something that I don't think you'll find other places. If you're looking for something unique, this is your place. Just be aware of the prices. Wow! This place should be called "Craftex Christmas Store"! From August - January they have a separate huge building of just Christmas decorations. The term "Wholesale" is completely misleading. Anyone can go in and buy anything on display. I was overwhelmed when walking in. I had heard they had Christmas stuff... but WOW! Be warned that everything here is on a large scale. Physically large trees, ornaments, decorations. There are some "regular" sized stuff but it is in the minority. That being said, as a couple with a normal sized tree, we found some fun stuff to decorate the house. We purchased some porch decorations (colored wire mesh balls with lights inside). We've hung them up and they are awesome. The people who work here are friendly and helpful. It's a busy place (we went on a weekend) and they get people checked out super fast. I asked questions about lights and they knew all the answers. If you like Christmas decorations, even to just get ideas of what you can do at your own home, then check this place out! This is the only place I know to go to if you want GIANT ornaments - giant as in as big as a basketball (& bigger). I bought super cute, sparkly pink ornaments here last year and I think they might be my favorites on my tree. When you're driving around looking at mansions with gorgeous Christmas lights and huge decorations (both inside & out), this is where they go! This place is amazing! It definitely was a one stop shop for me. I needed to buy all new ornaments for my Christmas tree, and I was able to get everything I needed from the Christmas warehouse while I was there. The great thing about the store, is that they have everything color coordinated, so if you know exactly what you want your tree to look like, is easier to shop for those specific items. They have all different colors and types of ribbons, and all different sizes of ornaments, and have a whole section just for Garland, so you are sure to find exactly what you need. I also went into the other side of the warehouse, and was able to look through all the different decorations that they have. They have a pretty extensive section reading material. The books are great for coffee table, or study bookshelves; they have topics ranging from travel, to cooking, to photography, to fashion, and the prices are really pretty reasonable. read more

The ribbon selection alone is enough to keep me coming back as it is beautiful and high end. Unfortunately this also means expensive but man if you are looking for something special this is the place. They do have some deals on ribbon if you can find them. Get your GPS to play nice and you will find this place hidden in the midst of Harwin, you may want to pack of the glock kind. Large blue awning spells their name. Parking another story, be imaging that space and you will find one. As others have said it does reflect Parmer goods, and the selection of books, note cards for friends were atypical of Half-Price books, outstanding selection of Frank Lloyd Wright if you like coffee table books. Root candles, mucho smells enough to require bottled water to drink as you meander (hopefully not with a buggy), too tight. Christmas store was in the process of making the decorations for the City of Sugar Land and this seems to be their deal to market more to the grander side of corporate -- individuals will score items that they would have seen at the Dallas gift market. If you know how to shop then you will know their pricing is high on some items that are comparable to other retail stores and some items are better priced, i.e., their ribbons, same ones you buy at Corneilus but less. Would come back, organized layout, dress way casual, leave the jewels at home. read more
