    Appliqué perfection!

I went in looking for help with a gift I was making for my wife for our 2nd year anniversary (cotton). Being a colorblind male with limited sewing experience i was in for a challenge, but the ladies here not only helped me pick out some great fabrics, but also gave me some great tips for how to appliqué my piece. I just finished making it, and my wife loves it. Thank you!!!

Adorable shoppe specifically for quilters. They have bolt fabrics and cut goods. You can even buy a reasonably priced completed quilt. Ask for Jaylyn. She was delightful!!

Really cute store and super friendly owner. She was informative and had great customer service. The selection is nice and great for the everyday quilter. I am excited about this find and can't wait to see what new ones come in. Made some amazing bibs and teethers with the fabric I got.

My first purchase! Hoping to make something beautiful!

I can't believe I haven't stopped by before, but best believe they're now a favorite in my quilt shop Rolodex!

When I arrived, I was grateful to see reserved parking spaces right in front. I was not eager to tackle Rice Village parking, so this convenience was a benefit for me. Upon walking in, I asked where I could find some potentially matching fabric and the salesgirl was so helpful! She pointed me in the right direction. Since I was looking for white fabric, she recommended I take the fabric outside in the sun to make sure it matches (can't trust white with the florescent lights!). That greatly helped, as the first fabric I thought would work ended up not matching at all once I took it in the sun. After a few tries, I found a fabric that was perfect! If in need of fabric, I definitely recommend coming to Universal Fabric Center. Lots of options to choose from and great service!

I even saw some young women doing a photoshoot inside, with permission of course. I found the perfect ribbon but realized at the register that the price was per yard not per bolt! It was totally worth it because I was satisfied with the look and quality. Yes this place is pricy, but you'll definitely find what you need here.

They also have sewing supplies like thread, scissors, mats, buttons, etc. tucked away in the corners of the store if you're short on supplies. One thing I didn't like was the messy cuts when the lady cut the fabric. But not a dealbreaker.

**************A SEAMSTRESS DREAM*************************…read moreLORD HAVE MERCY, a dream come true. I had never heard of this place before I stepped foot in it to make a masterpiece. I had actually visited on Good Friday and they were closed. I live in Katy and it was a 30 minute drive. I was upset but kind of my fault because you should always call a new place first before visiting. I pulled up and saw no cars and was surely disappointed. I politely got back in my car and decided I would visit another day. Well the following week I decided to visit because I needed to drop shoes off at the shoe shop. I walked in and felt like I was dreaming. It was such a variety of material it was unreal. I am not a seamstress but I have a creative vein for making a masterpiece. I decided to take my time and walk around and observe, look and allow my creative juices to flow. Then an angel appeared CLAUDIA, she was the sweetest girl ever. She answered all of my questions, offered expertise knowledge and helped me sort through many different options. Of course a creative person never makes choices overnight. So I left the store and told her I would return soon. The following week I returned with more choices and the need to make a final decision. When she seen the masterpiece she was floored. She then proceeded to talk about her mother's 50th birthday. It was funny because I am preparing for my 50th birthday and I was sharing with her that I don't mind sharing information with her as well to make her mother's event a success. What impressed me the most is all of the staff are welcoming to all ages and race along with being bilingual. I am always disgusted when I walk into an establishment and no one speaks ENGLISH which is the first language in HOUSTON. They are all nice and helpful CLAUDIA, stood out to me because she helped me personally. She was absolutely amazing. She gave hands on expertise and was very patient and kind. It was my first time in the store and she made me feel welcome. Her energy and poise were unmatched. I am looking forward to shopping at this establishment again.
