I decided to take my time and walk around and observe, look and allow my creative juices to flow. Then an angel appeared CLAUDIA, she was the sweetest girl ever. She answered all of my questions, offered expertise knowledge and helped me sort through many different options. Of course a creative person never makes choices overnight. So I left the store and told her I would return soon. The following week I returned with more choices and the need to make a final decision. When she seen the masterpiece she was floored. She then proceeded to talk about her mother's 50th birthday. It was funny because I am preparing for my 50th birthday and I was sharing with her that I don't mind sharing information with her as well to make her mother's event a success. What impressed me the most is all of the staff are welcoming to all ages and race along with being bilingual. I am always disgusted when I walk into an establishment and no one speaks ENGLISH which is the first language in HOUSTON. They are all nice and helpful CLAUDIA, stood out to me because she helped me personally. She was absolutely amazing. She gave hands on expertise and was very patient and kind. Since I was looking for white fabric, she recommended I take the fabric outside in the sun to make sure it matches (can't trust white with the florescent lights!). I have been here four of five times now in the last five months. The workers have been nice and are always stocking something or another in the store. It has never been as crowded as any of the other locations I have been to, but I love the layout of the store itself. It has an open concept design, with lower shelving and things organized in a very aesthetic feel (colorful rainbows, things unboxed and laid on displays, clear signs hanging from ceiling above sections to clearly show what is in each area.) There is a little studio in the very front of the store where mini classes could be held and was super cute. Directly when you walk in, there are seasonal items on display to the front and left of the doors. To the right of the entryway is the checkout lanes and the more themed seasonal decorations with more display shelves to give customers an idea of how the new seasonal decor can be used together to decorate your home (i.e. pink themed Halloween decorations or farmhouse Christmas.) I did not have anything for returns or curbside pickup here, so I cannot attest to the customer service of the managers here. There was always one person assigned to the cash register while the other employees busied themselves with unboxing or organizing, so checkout was always speedy. I did have issue with using my member rewards cash back thing in that it didn't get scanned correctly and I did not get to use my $5...but I do not know of that was a user error on my part or theirs. I had never used them in store before and it was a lot harder to claim than using it online, which was unfortunate. It was about $15. There were a group of older ladies in the back of the store who were working on projects and chatting. One of them worked at the store, and she came up to check on us and answer questions. She also gave me a pamphlet that showcased all their upcoming classes and events (including a quilting retreat???), which I assume also accounted for the group in the back. I would have been interested in a couple of the beginner-friendly events, except that they were also pretty expensive. Also, they didn't have any classes for kids, which surprised me. I feel like that sort of thing would be good to have and promote to help stay in business these days. Still, hopefully they're doing well, especially after Jo-Ann closed.
