I am honestly surprised by some of the reviews I read on here. I have never had anything but GREAT quality service from this location for over a decade. Ron is always super helpful, as well as the female employees both past and present-- I am sorry I am blanking on their names rn! But all really polite and helpful. I even order many fabrics over the phone, and they ship them straight to my house for me. They have all helped me and even walked me through measuring for window treatments for a home out of town, which were completed beautifully. There is always a sale, so I feel the rates on fabrics are great. I'm not a designer, so I'm not some big spending client-- they just help me to be sincerely helpful. Moreover, the employees are super knowledgeable and have helped me pick out really durable fabrics for my rental properties that have held up over the years. Love this store! read more

This place is the worst! I ordered fabric for a sofa and was today it was in stock and would be delivered 11/5. Then they said oops it's been back ordered and it would be a month . I called the manager to complain who said even though it was a firm order it was a big warehouse and sometimes people would submit an order while I was placing mind and therefore my order was not actually filled. Incredible! She said that she would have to tell salespeople that a firm in stock order that was paid for was not actually an order. I told her I would do her a favor and warn people in this post. I agree with the other reviewers that the customer service is poor. I've been here about 4 times in 1.5 years and not once did anyone look up from the counter by the front door to say "hi" let alone "can we help you with anything today?" The markups are steep...definitely don't buy anything that isn't on sale. I got a quote for some curtains - not too fancy, in my opinion - but it turned out the high-end plantation shutters from Home Depot were cheaper (and might possibly have better resale value since not everyone likes curtains). Eventually I got a tapestry rod here which was expensive even on sale and had a minor nick when shipped. read more

I will never use this store again for upholstery. They were disorganized, not responsive and did not produce a quality product...all this after I have been waiting since March to get an ottoman recovered. The only think they seemed to do with speed and accuracy was take my money. When I was finally able to pick up the piece, the upholstery work was not at all satisfactory, particularly when I made a point of saying I wanted the plushness of the foam the same quality as what had been on the ottoman initially. Poor customer service, poor communication and over-inflated prices. read more

I fail to understand why these reviews are so negative. I have used Calico several times the last few years, including the last couple of weeks. I have experienced nothing but friendly people there who have been extremely helpful. I do prefer this location to the one on Westheimer, but have had good work done there as well. read more

As others have noted, this store has exceptionally poor service. Fabric is always slow to arrive, if you need reupholstery services, that person is slow to respond to Calico Corners, the store is always chaotic, and the only "fast" here is the service people talking. If you place an order, plan on it taking at least twice as long as you're told it will take. There's always an excuse, no matter what the issue. read more

Set up an appointment for an in-house evaluation for window coverings (per recommendation of my John Daugherty Realtor) and no one showed up. I called the store and they said the person doing the visit was out (sick) - understood, but no one called to cancel appointment. If I can't trust them to provide good customer service, I can not trust them with my work. read more

RUDE! RUDE! RUDE Customer Service! My wife and I went to the West Alabama Calico Corner store today, November 14, at 11:30 this morning, looking to purchase a custom made set of bedding for our master bedroom. Most of the sales representatives were busy with other clients; however, there was no acknowledgement or recognition given to us when we walked in. No one said "we will be with you shortly", etc. We walked throughout the store, initially uncomfortable in the very unfriendly treatment we received, with no eye contact made or efforts to make us feel desired as customers. After wandering through the whole store we arrived back at the front counter, where one customer was being attended to by the two sales associates (one male, one female). The customer finished her business and left, leaving the two sales people with no other customers. We were ten feet from the front desk, sitting on the couch, awaiting some form of acknowledgement. Instead, for some minutes, I thumbed through a catalog and the sales associates strained themselves to keep from making eye contact. I finally had enough of the RUDE manner we were being treated to. My wife and I walked out, but I loudly told them "THANKS VERY MUCH FOR YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE"! Neither one replied - my wife and I got in our car and traveled to a competitors location. I cannot wait to tell every person I meet about the lack of service one can expect from this Calico Corner and I intend to refer them to your competitor. read more
