We've checked out Min n Mod a few times because we love our friends couch and they've got a pretty good selection. I respect Mattress Mack as much as the next Houstonian, but I've found it extremely difficult to find more modern, reasonably priced furniture in the city (looking at you Crate & Barrel) and in my opinion, this is the best store out there. We bought a sectional last week for $2200 + ($109 for delivery) and the whole process was seamless. They gave us options on the timing, communicated well, and the guys who delivered it were absolutely top notch. They gave me a heads up when they were 15 minutes out, arrived within their window, brought it upstairs without complaint, assembled it extremely quickly, and cleaned up all their trash. read more

We had serious issues with the furniture we purchased. One of the sofas was advertised as genuine leather, but it started peeling in a short time, which raised concerns about its quality. The legs of another sofa broke very quickly. A repair team was sent, but the fix did not last and it broke again. When we requested service a second time, we were asked to pay. Me and my boyfriend went to look for couches and thought this place would have what we were looking for. I was sadly mistaken and turned off when we walked into the store -where we were the only customers- and no one greeted us, said hello or looked interested enough to help. Both of the brunette haired ladies were on the couches reading books with their heads down and not saying a thing. I was in total shock and disbelief. I wanted to think that maybe they didn't work there but my boyfriend asked and they confirmed they worked there shortly after turning their heads back to their books and again, not engaging or acknowledging us. I would never return and I don't see how they have a business. Had an awful experience purchasing a couch at a big brand store so I decided to try shopping local and visited MidinMod. I was greeted by Sean and he helped me pick out a chaise sectional and a rug. I was able to look at their rug suppliers website for a ton of options. Got the chaise delivered a few days later. Delivery guys were top notch. Rug came about a week later. Got free delivery for purchase over $1000, which was awesome. Throughout the entire process, I was able to text with Sean on the status of my order. He was always responsive and so nice and helpful. I was so impressed with the customer service and happy with the experience that I decided to buy a coffee table from them online and pick it up myself from the warehouse in Sugarland. Went to the MidInMod show room on September 1 to purchase a couch. There was one employee in the show room who showed us several couches after finishing a phone call. We eventually settled on a leather couch and ottoman. We were told that the item was in stock, but once we sat down to finalize the purchase we were informed that it was currently out of stock. The show room employee assured us that the couch would be in stock within six days and could be delivered soon after. We paid for the couch and left. I called the warehouse on September 9th to inquire on the status of the order and when it would be delivered. I was told that there was a delay and the couch would not be delivered until the following week. Another week passed and I called again on the 16th. I was told at that point that they were not sure when the couch would be delivered. It is now the 23rd of September and we have yet to hear anything. We expected (and were promised) that this process would be a matter of days not weeks. At this point there is no end in sight. The process of taking payment for the couch was fairly smooth; the process of delivering the promised couch on the promised timetable has been a nightmare. A nightmare, that I should add, has yet to end. read more

We purchased a leather couch and there were some issues that came up when delivering. Basically they oversold so we did not get our couch delivered. They asked if we would take the showroom model in the interim. We took that one and decided that we would just keep it with a discount added. The other thing was that one of the legs was scratched so they were supposed to send us a replacement leg. As we went back and forth on email correspondence with Sean, he just stopped messaging me back and there was no further follow. Very dissappointed in the way he handled that. I sent one last email but I'm sure I won't get a response. I am not shopping there anymore based on this experience. Very sad. I purchased the west sectional at the beginning of March. It was delivered three days later which is an impressive turnaround. There was a mix up, and they brought two pieces of a sectional that didn't match -- an honest mistake. They were able to deliver the correct piece by the end of the day. Unfortunately, the sofa portion of the sectional was very unbalanced/wobbly, but MidInMod sent out some guys to rectify the issue a couple days later by putting some washers under a few different legs -- probably a design flaw. I was happy with their customer service during this ordeal and they were very nice and understanding. I have had the sofa about 2 weeks, and noticed 2 of the tufts on the seat cushions have already popped loose. Probably not a big deal to the average person, but for someone who's a stickler for details it's rather annoying (I am 180 lbs for reference). Only a matter of time before the others come loose. Not a great feeling after dropping close to $2k and the sofa can't even make it past a month. You're paying for the style, quick turnaround, and supporting a local business. Other than that, you're sacrificing on quality, durability, and comfort. So pick the lesser of two evils - sacrifice on quality but get furniture now, or wait 6 months for a quality piece of furniture somewhere else. 2.5/5 stars read more

We bought dining chairs and bar stools from this company back in July 2020. Some of the bar stools were getting wobbly, so we tried to tighten the screws under the chair. What we discovered was the inconsistency of the number of screws among the chairs - some had all 8, but some only had 6 or 7. Additionally, some of the screws that attached the foot rest part does not actually fit. They were too small and completely different compared to the ones in the other stools. Bottom line: I would not recommend this store to anyone. They charge too much for subpar quality furniture. read more

We LOVE the MidInMod stores. The style and the prices are hard to beat. What really hooked us was the customer service. Absolutely no pressure by the store associates. I felt free to leisurely roam around, taking my time and weighing my options. Unfortunately, the sofa we decided on (the Cassie with chaise) is too slippery. We were in denial about its slipperiness, so we missed the return window. You can't sit up on the sofa without sliding, placing you in an uncomfortable seating position. You can't even lay down with your head in a pillow, since the pillow slips right out from underneath. We asked online if there was something they recommended - they said to buy furniture risers and raise the front legs so that you slide back. Not once did the sales rep get out of their chair. I had to go to them and ask questions and she looked bothered being there. And when I asked about a specific color and style sofa, she said they didn't have it and said "guess it's not meant to be" and didnt bother checking when the next shipment would arrive. We bought a Kano sectional from MidInMod, and the latch that secures the two pieces together underneath was severely misaligned. When latched, the two pieces were over 1-1/2" out of alignment. We called the company who sent someone out to correct it, and it's STILL not flush. Rather than let them drill more holes in my couch, I'll fix it myself. Thanks for nothing. Additionally, I was pretty unimpressed with how uncomfortable of many pieces in the showroom were. Even if we hadn't been unimpressed with the defective couch, I wouldn't buy anything else from MidInMod. Don't buy anything online without trying it out in the store first! read more

Loved the look of our couch when we purchased it but the quality is awful! Bought a floor model b/c it couldn't be ordered so it's final sale. One leg broke off on the drive home. We couldn't figure out how it broke but assumed we caused it during transport. After one day, another leg broke off. 4 months later, four legs have broken. The wooden legs are cracking and splitting and falling off. My couch is sitting on cinder blocks. The couch will not hold its shape. You have to fluff and reshape it every time you sit on it. The back cushions literally fold over . The fabric is pilling and the feathers inside the cushions constantly poke out and scratch you. Super frustrating. I was adamant that we buy local and not from a big box chain store but this is a purchase we regret. read more

Buyer beware, this is not a legitimate business. Took a trip to MidInMod looking for a custom couch and chair. I had shopped around and wanted a particular mid-century look and I was excited to see the floor was littered with furniture that matched what I was looking for. Walking in the store was littered with furniture. As in literally furniture scattered randomly all over the place with no attempt at presentation or even cleanliness. At this point I should have walked out but I thought maybe its covid related or something and the decorator was down with an illness and I really wanted a particular mid-century set for my home. I had found similar items online and at other stores (many of similar quality and style and less cost TBH) but I wanted a fabric style and color that was specific. Myself and two female companions browsed the large store for almost 45 minutes without being greeted or asked if I needed any help. We wandered a bit looking for staff but couldn't identify any. Seemed unusual given that we were the only shoppers in the store, but stranger still was we finally noticed a couple of staff members a young female and a sketchy male (who seemed smarmy) who seemed to be loitering in a kind of open office environment in the back and randomly looking at us as if we were casing the joint. This was very strange since we were dressed appropriately, wearing our masks, comporting ourselves properly and with cash in hand looking to spend whatever it took to secure the right pieces. I'm not sure if this place is elitist or racist or just run by clowns but the vibe from the staff is standoffish and rude. I should have walked out, but unfortunately I found a couch and chair in a weird room off the main floor that were what I wanted sans the color. I searched and found a swatch book to look through the custom colors and fabric available and found exactly what I wanted. All of this took almost an hour and still the staff had not approach myself or the ladies I was with. I noticed other customers entering and that the staff thoroughly ignored them as well. I noticed most customers entered looked around for a few minutes and bolted. I should have left too. Instead of leaving I finally walked up to a young woman I thought worked there and asked about the color and couches. She offered zero information about the pieces, I asked about getting a custom order and she said "I'll check" and walked away. Returning with a book, not a laptop or iPad but an actual notebook she told me the price for the two pieces and that it would take 3-6 weeks. When pushed about the timeframe she said they guarantee it will be delivered within 6 weeks. I provided my credit card and my id and she returned a few minutes later with a receipt. She never said thank you or even explained how my order would be delivered. I asked her to clarify that and she left to go ask some more questions I assume and returned to tell me they would call me as soon as the couches were ready for delivery and that I would hear within 6 weeks at the latest. The next day I was asked again to provide my ID but this time they needed a copy of my drivers license? This is the most sketchy business practice I have ever heard off. Not sure what they needed that for but I complied as I assumed the staff was so slow and sloth-like they wouldn't have the temerity or motivation to do anything nefarious with my info. Still that was WEIRD. After waiting 5 weeks for my order and no word I called just to ensure everything was still on for delivery in the next week as we travel often. The staff didn't pick up the phone and I left a message that was never returned. I called again during office hours and no returned message. I called again several times but no response. Finally my GF called and was told they didn't know anything at the store and had no systems or structure in place to provide any assistance but she could call the "warehouse" and was given a number. Big surprise you call the "warehouse" and the voicemail box is full because there isn't anybody there to pick up the phone. So here we are 8 weeks from purchasing furniture costing several thousand dollars. No phone calls, no information and nobody to talk to about my order. I'm waiting to hear they have gone bankrupt and run off with a stack of custom order money. Time will tell. read more

I haven't even picked up my furniture yet and I'm frustrated with the customer service. I called the Westheimer location and asked when I could come to pick up my furniture. I was told that I didn't need to schedule a pick-up, just needed to come by. Having never shopped here before, I don't know much about this place. I drive over, call, and tell the same lady that I was there to pick up my furniture. She tells me my credenza is in Sugarland at the warehouse. I'd just taken off work, driven across town, in holiday traffic, in the rain only to be told to go 40 minutes in the other direction. This could have all been avoided if when I'd called she simply said "You can pick your furniture up at the warehouse in Sugarland". No one told me where to go, or what I needed to do. I paid my invoice and got no directions. I called the store so naturally, that is the location I would go to in order to pick up my furniture unless I'd been told otherwise. I will update this review once I pick it up this evening. UPDATE: I got a call to apologize about the misunderstanding from a really nice guy. I found the warehouse easily and every one was nice. They quickly got me packed up and shipped off. There were many helping hands there. They asked me if I wanted to look at it and I didn't because it was raining and I needed to get back to my job ASAP. The credenza is SO beautiful... super heavy, solid wood. Hey, I'm seeing all the bad reviews on here and I think people are being extremely dramatic.. since when has furniture delivery been easy? Chill. If it arrives on your doorstep don't complain. I got a couch from here and they held it for me for weeks and answered me when I called. My couch has held up perfectly over a year later. I really enjoy it and get compliments all the time. I recommend this business because they aren't in your face 24/7 when walking around which I guess upsets some people. The furniture is affordable, stop expecting A+ customer service when you're getting these prices. If you want them to take ur hat and coat and shine your shoes go pay $8k for a polyester couch from west elm. If you want your home to look luxury for less, this a great spot. read more

I bought a couch three years ago and it's been good until recently. Some water spilled on it and it has a water stain. At first I thought it was a shadow and ignored it. As this has never happened to me with my old couch. Then my son dropped a little salsa on the couch. It cleaned right out but again a water stain. I have an expensive couch now with water stains. I keep a blanket over it. I called the store and she said she would figure sonethibg out today Monday but she hasn't gotten back with me. I called a fabric cleaner but no one cleans linen fabric. Had I known this couch cannot take water much less other spills, I never would have bought it. Even a house with no kids a couch will occasionally have a spill.
