Cosco's awesome. It's just fun to shop there. I've gotten some cute clothes from there too (shhh........don't tell anybody). I'm not a fan of all the food they sell there but we do like their precooked chickens and their steaks. When we do stop by, it's almost a given that we are going to have dinner for $3.00. They sell these great (boiled) hot dogs that are huge and it comes with a soda for $1.50, so dinner for the two of us is $3.00. Ya, I love great food but I can also be a down to earth girl and love a great hot dog every once in a while too. read more

I love Costco for many different reasons. First of all is the price and the quality of most of the products they sell. The most important reason is their generous return policy. Although Costco is not as affordable as BJs becaue BJs issue a lot more coupons and sells fewer items than BJs (For example, you will be able to find some common items like bread crumbs and different types of beer and soft drinks at BJs but Costco only carries few essential brands), Costco does sell some stuff that is slightly better quality. I have never tried ordering stuff online at BJs, but Costco's online store was very nice too. They are building a new gas station now, so hopefully it will be more convenient for people who live close by or visit this place frequently. On a side note, parking is fairly easy as long as you don't mind walking a little bit. However, the traffic to get out of the intersection can be painful for some people on the weekends.. read more

Worship it! This is the best Costco location EVER. This Costco is part of my heavenly trinity that includes Christmas Tree Shops, Costco and IKEA. It is happiness. This Costco has a nice liquor selection and all your usual Costco needs. While I do love Costco for things like never ending supplies of toilet paper, paper towels and trash bags, everyone should know sometimes you can get some things (particularly the smaller items) cheaper on sale at other places like Stop and Shop and Shaws. However, just the peace of mind that comes with knowing you have enough toilet paper to last till 2025 is worth a trip to Costco. Ahhhh, peace. read more

A a happy to report that this location now has beer, wine, and liquor for sale to all members and non-members a like. The liquor store is independent of Costco, the way the cashier explained it, "We're renting underused space." Makes sense to me and my wallet. Great prices and a good selection. My review is solely based on this location. I love Costco. I really do. I love everything about it. However this location is steadily going down hill. The store is really messy!Now that Costco accepts Visa the stores are insanely over crowded and difficult to navigate. People literally bring vans full of people just to eat the samples. The "Costco customer" has completely changed. I shop at Costco every week and I prefer it to Bjs , so much so that I literally drive 30 mins each way just to reach one. However I will head to the Waltham store as the Dedham store is just trashy. read more

Even though I live with just one roommate I love going to Costco for bulk items I know I'll use. However, I learned that if I want to go on the weekend and have a good experience, I go super early, like before 11:00am on either Saturday or Sunday. If you don't mind large crowds, long lines, and carts covering parking spots, then go in the afternoon, but I personally don't have patience for it. If I know I want to go, I get up, put on some sweats, and go early. Trust me, you will enjoy it so so much better and find everything you need! Plus, you get first crack at all the samples! On to selection. Obviously, they can't have every brand in bulk, but you really find everything you need and then some. My parents belong to BJ's, and to me there are few differences in selection. They also both have their private-label brands so those are nice, cheaper fall-backs. So, if you want to join Costco and benefit from this place, spare the frustration and go early! read more

I was at Costco Dedham just to return merchandise. There were 3 staffs at the New Membership counter and none at the Return Merchandise counter. I had to ask for help 3 times before Jo came over. I walked into the store to ask to speak to a manager and Scott said he can help and I asked to speak to a manager. I do not know what did Scott speak to Tarrara, the manager, she came out with hands around her waist and was confrontational. I just want to let her know that she does not need 3 staffs at the New Membership counter and none at the Return merchandise counter. All she really had to tell me was, " I will talk to them". Been dying to write this review for a while. Decent prices, good selection... but I don't care for the little incident that happened during my visit. Waited in line to check out behind this elderly foreign woman... her accent was either German or Russian, I don't really remember. Anyway, she unloads her carriage and the cashier begins scanning items. The bagboy begins loading the items into her cart, at which point, the woman gives the boy a stern look and practically yells 'Vat are you doing, putting sings into my cart that vay? Bag everysing!!!' UGH!!!!! I've seen things like this happen before with older people at BJs... for some reason, they don't seem to grasp the difference between a Wholesale Club/Warehouse and a Supermarket! Normally at BJs, they simply explain that they can't, because the only bags they have are for meat. The poor bagboy attempted to explain this to the woman, who proceeded to flip out and call the manager. The manager came over, looking annoyed, gave the bagboy a dirty look... and I'm not kidding... APOLOGIZED TO THE WOMAN who, at most, deserved to be beaten over the head with her bag of ice. The manager assisted with bagging every item... the bags fit one item each. We must have been there for a good 20+ minutes while they bagged her order. Seriously, I'dve gone to another line, but they were all long. When they were done, the woman brushed by the bagboy, saying how she had no idea how she was going to load her items into her car and they should have bigger bags... idiot. Had the damn manager simply had a backbone and backed up his bagboy who was doing the right thing, this would not have happened. The manager and the woman were totally in the wrong here, the only one right, probably later had to endure a sit down with the manager after. Yeah thanks, but no thanks. I'll stick to BJs. read more

I'm a big fan of Costco, and have been to many of the stores throughout the US and Canada. Their prices, product quality and customer service are hard to match. The Costco in Dedham just opened a gas station, where the price for regular gas tends to be ten to fifteen cents cheaper than other low price stations. I will definitely continue to shop there, and will purchase gas at the same time. Finally, Costco's co-founder and CEO ( just retired), Jim Sinegal, is an outstanding example for others who serve as leaders in the business world. He should be used as a positive model for teaching business administration students throughout the world. Thanks You, Jim! read more

This review is for the tire center only (as I love the regular Costco warehouse). The tire center is poorly run by a bunch of people who don't care about customer service . It is Possibly the business with the worse customer service in the state. Customer service reps are rude. Appointments are always booked 3 weeks out (forget about bringing a flat tire there). If you walk in, the wait is horrendous (I would say 2-3 hrs on average ). There's no waiting area either . Do yourself a favor and get your tires elsewhere - it might be a little more expensive and you will save your sanity . read more

Great prices but impractical. Wanted to buy a mattress but the only way to see if it was a good sleep fit was to bring it home.

First I have to say that I am more of a BJ's fan than Costco... BJ's has better hours, you don't get carded at the door, they accept multiple credit cards, and they things in more reasonable sizes (ex. flour/sugar, Doritos- just a few that first come to mind). However, I do like Costco's brand bacon. It's much better than BJ's bacon. Also, their clothes are better quality (says my bf). As for this location, I like it much better than the Waltham location. This has better parking, the people are better and it has a gas station. Just want to note that you cannot use AMEX gift cards at the gas station even though you can use them in the stores. I really did enjoy buying my new tires at Costco. I give the tire center 4-5 stars. The rest of the store... 3 stars? They had a decent selection online (more than BJ's and these were even a few $ cheaper than at BJ's). Unfortunately though they don't have many in stock in the store. There were only 2 types for my car in stock in the store. But shipping was free to the store and they take any credit card online for tires (not sure if true for other stuff too?). When I called to see if they were in stock in the store, the sales associate was very helpful and even recommend the tires I ended up getting over more expensive tires. It was clear that he knew his tires and wasn't just trying to up-sell me! This made me feel good about purchasing from Costco. I ended up calling again to try to make an appointment. Unfortunately, appointments are only available on weekdays from 12-5pm (something like that). Other than that, it's first come-first served. They guy was very friendly and helpful and told me that yes, I could leave my car there for the day while I was at work. Great! When I went to drop off my car, the woman ahead of me had many questions and they were very patient and answered all of them. She made a comment about how her husband thought that she should replace all of her tires, but the associate told her that it was unnecessary and that only two needed to be replaced. Woohoo for honesty! That made me feel really good about buying tires from them. Usually I'm always afraid of getting swindled but they are honest! Obviously everyone knows Costco but what I like is that if you try something and hate it, they will take it back no questions. The only reason why they lose one star is that the line for returns is understaffed on weekends and it can run 30 deep. Assign more people at peak hours. That said, we love Costco and shop there when we are going to Whole Foods around the corner. read more

Excellent Tire Center! I work at Legacy Place and after my shift ended this rainy afternoon, I walked to my car to find I had a completely flat tire. I had already planned to go to Costco to pick up a few quick things before heading home. Thankfully I remembered Costco has a tire center - I was hoping they'd be able to help me! I drove over and a very kind, patient staff member greeted me. He took one look at my lopsided car and told me he did not have my tire in stock. He could order it but it would take a few days to come in. I was immediately worried about how I'd get home to both of my kids who would be coming home from school within an hour or two. He said I could go to an auto body shop, etc . . . . . and I asked him with a blank stare, "How am I supposed to get home?" He then asked me, "Would you like me to put your spare tire on for you?" Wow. And they did just that. After he gathered my info in from my Costco card and asked me the details about my car, he told me I'd be all set to go in an hour and a half. I was thinking I'd send a few texts in case I didn't get home in time, get in to do the shopping I needed and then see what the damage was on the tire change. As I was waiting in line to show my receipt to exit Costco with my cart, my phone rings - my car was ready. I headed over to the tire center. I asked the friendly staff member who was pulling my car out of the bay, "What do I owe you?" He said, "Nothing", smiled and told me to have a good day. Thank you, thank you, Costco! It's rare that you get service like this. When someone knows you are really in a bad way, in need of help and just gives you a helping hand. AND, I got home just in time for both of my kids who were arriving home from school! read more

So I had never set foot in one of these discount warehouse places before and kind of think they are stupid and not that good of a deal. That said I've tagged along a couple times now and still am not sold on this place being as awesome as people say, but can see some good deals. Personally, I don't think they are worth having to have a membership and fighting through the hoards of cheap ass people who flock here. So I think the main lesson is check the price of what sounds like good deal and also be real about whether you need the giant size that the item comes in. I mean I can understand buying a giant box of paper towels that are like 25% cheaper than the grocery store since you can just store the extras in the closet until you need them. But buying a gallon sized jug of mustard or seems ridiculous. I don't care how cheap it is since unless you are a mustard fiend or are running a cafeteria you would never use that much in a lifetime. Some of the electronics were pretty cheap, but not all of them. I was spot checking some of them against prices online and some were really cheap while others were a total rip off. I ended up buying an iPhone speaker dock that was $15 less than anywhere else that I had been planning on ordering from Amazon anyways. I also bought a giant bag of Perdue chicken breasts which was way cheaper than the grocery store ones I usually buy, but holy crap is the quality way different. These ones are full of water and have lots of tendons and blood vessels on them. It seems like they are the ones from the reject pile for the ones they sell in the normal grocery store. I also checked out the attached liquor store, but was completely under whelmed. It had poor selection and terrible prices. Most larger liquor stores had better prices and the prices at the NH State ones were almost 20% less. So I guess the lesson is be smart about what you buy at this place as not everything is actually a good deal. read more

The Dedham Costco..... one of the MANY interesting stores in Dedham. Wait, I should call this a warehouse.... yes, one of the MANY interesting WAREHOUSES in Dedham. Wait...... there are only 2 warehouses in Dedham.... not many. To continue with that, it's true, there are 2 warehouses in Dedham, BJs & Costco (here). If I need to go to BJ's, the Dedham one is ok, but other BJs stores are much better (specifically the Franklin location). For Costco, this IS the best Costco (besides the one in Waltham, which is better when it's raining), and one of the only Costco stores..... there are only 6 in Massachusetts. Yet, I am sort of confused. Why did BJ's open SO close to this Costco, since Costco was in Dedham first... and for that matter why did Costco open SO far away from the main traffic routes in Dedham...... good thing Legacy Place is open now..... it must be a draw for traffic. (and there should be a Walmart on Legacy Blvd....I'm proposing that HUGE space of land to their corporate, then even more retailers on "The Legacy"!) Anyway, the real store. Clean, has amazing photo dept, a good pharmacy (that I would want to be mine, and would be mine if it had a drive thru), and a good food "court". There is a gas station attached in the parking lot as well. Overall, the store is really organized as well, even during peak hours. The traffic getting in and out has gotten SO much better over the years, since now there are 2 entrances / exits: Legacy Blvd to Providence Highway, and Legacy Blvd to Elm Street, traffic is MUCH more manageable. For the parking lot..... it's huge, and you won't have any issue finding a spot. Not much else to say besides, the service you will receive here will be at least as good as BJs and normally you won't have to wait in line for nearly as long as BJs (unless you are me and like self checkout). 5 star Costco..... so much better than the Avon store, by the way. read more

A bit older than other Costco's I have been to, but it provides a rather relaxing shopping environment in contrast to the Waltham location that is always crowded and a bit chaotic. I used to go to the one in Avon quite a bit since I lived near there. Actually it was quite convenient with IKEA, Costco, Newbury Comics, etc. that I could go when there weren't crowds. But that isn't the case anymore so I've checked the one out in Dedham, but I think the one in Avon is better. All-in-all it's great for buying the bulk items, but also for some other quality items that sell for a decent price. Definitely good if your planning a big party/event. They actually have a very good selection of wine and spirits at decent prices, and if you're looking for an expensive bottle of champagne for that special evening they have that too. Also it's good if you're hungry because they typically have free samples. And of course you can never have too much toilet paper. You have to have toilet paper. read more

As a college kid, I am inherently a Costco fan. Everything I need for the year comes at 70% less the cost than acquiring it anywhere else. Also, in case of furniture and produce, this Costco has some great quality in comparison to Roche Bros and Stop N Shop but lacks the selection (which is fine...I'm not picky). So far, I've been with every purchase I have made there so far. The staff is also extremely helpful. I love the Costco business model. read more

This place is great! Cheap prices, and they have their own brand named Kirkland. It's probably one of the best quality brands out today. I have been a member of Costco in Dedham since 1995. It's a fantastic place to shop with terrific selections. When I first became a member, I was an able-bodied individual. However, for the past four years, I require a scooter when shopping, especially in establishments as huge as Costco is. Many times the 4 scooters that are provided by Costco are either in use or disabled, and die in the middle of the store when shopping. I think that more scooters should be available. Also, whenever there are cars, motorcycles, etc. on display at the store, they are usually displayed where the scooters should be plugged in to be charged. I feel that management should assign a specific department the responsibility to ensure that the scooters are ready and charged for use by their shoppers. Recently I had a negative experience with a cashier. I know that patrons usually go to the left of the cashier and items to be purchased on the right. However, because I'm in a scooter, cashiers usually allow me to go on the same side as my purchases so that I can easily complete my transaction without having to stand. On this particular day, the cashier was not only rude to me, but was adamant in not allowing me to go on the opposite side. I do wish that Costco had a deli department like their competitor and that the liquor store could be accessed from the main store, but I will not switch because the positives outweigh the negatives. I have always like Costco. The Dedham location has plenty of parking. Good selection of prepared foods, fruits, and desserts. The liquor store is outside/adjacent to Costco, but it really isn't an issue - good selection of Rieslings. read more

You must obtain a membership ($45 or so) to gain access, and to actually purchase merchandise at Costco. I think it only accepts AMEX cards. You can get membership at the service desk, it's to the left of the entrance, where people have already paid and are exiting the store. Costco has a large parking lot that is never full. There is a recycling machine inside that accepts glass, plastic, and aluminum. There are free samples inside, usually bite-size food samples, that occur maybe once a week on Sundays. This place has a ton of stuff, from electronics to food to cleaning supplies to clothes to car-care to... you get the idea. While Costco does carry different types of products, within each type of product, such as clothing, the selection is fairly limited. However, it is wholesale, so the prices are competitive and many items are sold in large quantities, except for very large or expensive items, such as TVs, treadmills, jungle-gyms, etc. Feel like having scrambled eggs for breakfast? You're going to have to buy 2 cases of eggs by default - you either buy the whole thing or nothing at all. Need some hand lotion? Here's an entire liter of it. Fancy a Mentos? Have fun eating all 20 rolls. If you buy perishable food, better stuff your face with it or it'll expire very quickly. Because such large quantities of items are forced on you when you buy, make sure you have a place to store all 36 rolls of toilet paper. I think this place opened in 1998, and my family would make the trip from Boston to save money by buying in bulk. If you have a large family or need to feed a lot of people, then wholesale warehouses like Costco is perfect for you. If you live alone or live with enough people that don't add up to a small gang, wholesale places are sometimes overkill. The thing about food at these places is that they expire too quickly to be consumed by a normal person in normal circumstances. For example, I bought some submarine rolls to make sandwiches, but they only come in a bag of 12 (within the large bag is 2 smaller bags of 6 rolls each). The expiration date only gave me 5 days, so I'll either have to feed them to other people/animals or put them in the freezer. If you're like me, you'll probably get your food somewhere else and shop at Costco for imperishable items such as batteries, water filters, toothpaste, etc, although even then you're buying enough to last you many months. When the Legacy Place mall actually opens (having only LL Bean & PF Changs working hardly qualifies the place as open), shoppers may discover nearby Costco and increase its traffic and congestion. As of now, it can be packed on the weekends, so try to go on a weekday when the aisles aren't full of people blocking you with their huge carts. read more

David in optical is surely one of the worst people I've encountered! He was rude to my mother and myself! When my mother asked "I'm sorry are you having a bad day?" he replied in an extremely snippy tone "I'm having just a fine day!" He then proceeded to give her a bad time about transitional lenses and seemed to be hurrying her. Where are you going?? Costco is open for hours longer it's only 3 pm! Asked about a manager when he replied "well mam I am the manager" Hope that management position working in the glasses section of a warehouse doesnt continue to go to your head! Aside from this every single person in costco is more than willing to help and do it with a smile! Those are the ones who should be in management! read more

Not only the lowest prices but the best staff. On my first visit your Mgr, Fred was sprinting between pumps "educating" fellow confused seniors on the operation of the pumps. Yesterday after filling my vehicle it would not start. Here comes Fred to the rescue running over to the service center and returning with a booster starting the car shaking my hand thanking me for my military service.
