I've been a Costco customer for decades and after my experience today, this is my first complaint. Hugh who works at the front shopping area , right upon entry hovered over myself and another patron as we were in search of luggages. We were looking for a specific hardcover carry-on versus the nylon cover and had to pull out some of the luggages in order to get to our specific item. Hugh stared at us from about 15 feet away , then approached us only to scold us - not once asking if we needed assistance or provided any physical assist. Instead he gave us a lecture and had the audacity to say "I'm just trying to understand the psychology of this" . The psychology of what? I bought four pieces of luggage and spent over $400 of my own money today and he didn't lift a finger to help. Of course , myself and the other patron returned everything back in order. We thanked him anyway, even though he did nothing helpful. I reported to the supervisor upon check out but wanted this in writing as well. Hugh should not be working on the floor, and at the very least should not be dealing with customers. read more

I had to return an item yesterday. The manager, who is an African American male, was very rude and kept. cutting me off when I was trying to talk. When I confronted his behavior he denied being rude and, again, cut me off. I felt he was discriminating due to age, sex, and disability because I'm a senior, a female, with a disability. Also, I know if my husband had been with me, he never would have spoken to me in the same way! I came home very upset and can't believe Costco hires people with such low morals as to treat a person in this manner. I noticed for last several years Costco has not been putting origin of meat on the Ground Beef label. Meat clerk was unhelpful. Very difficult to get Ground Meat/Chopped Beef produced from USA steer these days. Does it come from Mexico, Brazil? Yuck. read more

Was discriminated by a white bald man cashier today. He was not able to scan one item "Lays" chips, please note, it was a Korean honey butter flavors, and I'm an Asian. So then he called his coworker I guess to check the price. I realized that it may take a long time to process, so I told him I don't want it, but he ignored me. When he looked at the brand and flavors of it, he said "HOW DISGUSTING ". I didn't realize it at the beginning. But then after that I realized it. When you Costco selling it, you as an employee saying your items are disgusting in front of customers. It doesn't sound right. So I think he was saying how disgusting to me since it was a Korean flavor and I am an Asian. Even though he didn't mean it, but this gave me a negative experience shopping at Costco. read more

This review is mainly for the food court. The options have been greatly reduced since COVID so just wanted to put that out there. They are no longer serving burgers, açaí bowl, Caesar salad, or supreme pizza. Food quality has gone down over the last decade but it is still very cheap. The workers are hit or miss but usually nice. I can imagine they have to deal with a lot of impatient jerks all day. Hopefully they bring back some more of the food items soon. read more

As Costcos go, this is one. If you've been to one, you've been to them all. This review is for the optometry department. I needed new glasses but already had frames that I like. The lenses I need are progressive, coated, and basically everything you can do to make them more expensive. I was shocked at how inexpensive it was (I already had a prescription from Kaiser). It was so cheap that I ended up getting a second pair. They take VSP insurance. The frame selection is kind of OK but if you're looking for fashion, you can probably do better elsewhere. But the most expensive "designer" frame in the place was $250 and there were many less than half that. I've always gone to fancy places to get Tom Ford frames and then would pay through the nose to get the lenses done. I've learned my lesson. I'll probably still get the fancy frames but I'm coming to Costco for the lenses. Super friendly service and as professional as the fancy places but with lens prices that are a fraction of what you pay elsewhere. Heck, it'd be worth the $60 membership fee just for having lenses made even if you never shopped in the store otherwise. read more

Do you remember way back in the day when Costco was named "Price Club"? Wish I had stock in this place back then... I've been a Costco member for the longest time and love the annual dividend I receive from my executive membership. This particular Costco located in Danville, CA is most convenient for me to shop because of it's close proximity to my residence. It's a smaller Costco and I find it very easy to get into and out of this store/parking lot compared to other Costco's. I'm rating this Costco 4 of 5 stars due to the fact that there is no gas station. That's probably the reason it's so easy to enter/exit the parking lot. read more

This Costco has everything you expect to see in most Costco out there but there are some selections here that make it stand out amongst the rest. Compared to other stores, this Costco offers American wagyu beef and not just prime. In addition, they have also have a marinated bulgogi tray you can get. You will see more ethnic foods here and that's mainly due to the demographic of the area and that's always a positive. read more

I experienced great customer service today, I was heading out after the lady checked the items in my basket, rolling over the bumpy yellow safety strip my cart jumped and a bottle of white wine broke. A young man jumped into action and put the carts away and asked if he could get me another bottle. I am impressed with his service, didn't get his name but thanks again To him and Costco. read more

This is not your typical Costco. It is much smaller in size with fewer selections. Most of the time they are out of stock of basic products. The employees are lazy they won't restock if it is just a few hours from closing time. Cannot wait for the bigger Pleasanton store to open. read more

Gotta love Costco, and as I go as often as I can to save $3 on a monster-size bottle of detergent along with $200 on all kinds of other things I don't really need (and a 5-year supply of it to boot!). I practically need my own warehouse to store it all, yikes! You can always find someone to help you within a few aisles, and they are most helpful and friendly. If you need to return something, they have a ultra-generous policy. Highlights for me: the fresh fruit and veggies section, fresh meat, fresh whole roasted cooked chicken ($4.99), vitamin and supplements, the wine selection, the booze, and the samples around lunchtime! Tip: Go early or go late, but not at lunch or 530pm - the checkout process is long and tedious. Unless, of course, you need lunch and want to go for their AYCE samples! Location specific: Danville, CA ========================= 1. My new local Costco. You might see a celebrity sighting, um, me! 2. Parking lot is a little smaller than most, and it has tiny aisles with less than 12 spaces per = tight! 3. This store is smaller than most any other Costco I've been to. This is a nice brighter and newer store. It seems to be well laid out. Like all the stores nearer to me the parking lot is full, in the store people run into other people with their carts, and the checkout lines are long. This location has a very small parking lot. I like shopping at COSTCO because they pay their employees a livable wage. I will continue to shop at my local stores rather than this location. I know their layouts better. read more

It's a giant warehouse store and it works for me when I need it! I'm not sure how to describe somewhere I usually go to once a month to stock up on necessities and part of my household routine, but here we go... Things I like: Tire Shop: I do like their tire shop, the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. They are good at contacting you when your tires are in and setting up an appointment. Photo Center: Order holiday cards or announcements online and pick it up in a few days - EASY. Optical Center: Bring in your prescription and pick up your order in a few days, whether it's contact lenses or glasses. Knowing that the basic things I need will be on sale every other month if I time it correctly (i.e., floss, laundry soap, paper napkins, water). Going on off peak hours: Less of the crazy customers = better experience. What can drive me nuts at a Costco: Parking lot: It's a cluster and customers who have no clue what they are doing do not help it. I think it's just the layout. I've been to other Costcos and still have the same experience. Sample Line: It's a love-hate relationship because everyone fighting for a piece of food. It's very unfortunate to have to give a star to a place located in such a descent area! But today I had a horrible experience with the membership customer service, first a lady named Cece was very unhelpful and did not know how to do her job, she sent me to talk to other people who also couldn't help me because they didn't know what was going on with my membership, and when I returned Cece was literally holding a verbal argument with another employee and left me there to watch them go back and forth with their argument. My initial rating of this business would be 5 stars but I have to knock it down to 3 after my interaction today. I initially did all of my testing with Ramoune Zukowski, who I found to be incredibly thorough and careful. She helped me pick out hearing aids that would fit my hearing loss, explained thoroughly how to use, clean, and care for them. She mention I would need to come in every few months for additional cleaning and to have the tips changed. About a week ago, my left hearing aid started buzzing. At first it was subtle but it got worse over the next few days. I tried calling the Hearing Aid Center to set up an appointment to go in and have the tips replaced (I assumed that was the problem), but no one ever answered the phone or responded to the messages I left. So on Sunday I checked their hours on their voice mail, after calling again. It said they were open until 6pm. So I headed over there. I should say that this is not a short drive. I live about 25-45 minutes away, depending on traffic. I got there at 5:30, rushed over to the Hearing Aid Center to be greeted by a woman who greeted my by immediately barking out, "WE'RE CLOSED. I JUST CLOCKED OUT." I replied, "Your phone message says 6pm" (it's 5:30 at this point, so staying open another 30 minutes so she could abide by their advertised hours, rather than knocking off 30 minutes early seemed kind of petty to me.) I spoke to the supervisor on duty, who was no help. I get it. Evidently she was the only one working. He co-worker was sick. However, 30 minutes??? C'mon. You can't hang in there for 30 minutes so you can stick to the hours that are clearly advertised? That's ridiculous. So, 5 stars for Ramoune Zukowski, and if I could give 0 stars for my interaction today I would. That would be 2.5, but I'm rounding up. 3 stars. UPDATE: I went to the "Hayward North" Costco location to hopefully get my hearing aid fixed because I was close to that location the other day. The woman working there was very generous with her time and willing to take a look. She discovered that the last time I had maintenance done on my hearing aids (at Costco Danville) they had made a mistake. They had swapped the tubes that go from the aids into my ears. So, all this time I had been wearing the wrong aid in each ear. My hearing is different in my ears, so having the correct aid in is really important. She fixed the problem quickly and most importantly with grace and compassion. 5 stars for Costco Hayward North but I'm knocking my rating off Costco Danville down to 2 stars because I've been wearing the wrong hearing aids since March. read more

I love this Costco! I came to this location during the middle of the day and it was not crowded at all (can't say that for the one back home, which is crowded all.the.time.), so I was able to get what I need and get on my way quickly. There was also no line to check out, which I have never EVER experience in all my years as a Costco customer. That in and of itself is worth 5-stars. The layout of the store took some getting used to, but I found everything I needed and more. I initially came to buy some snacks for my team, but I ended up finding some vegan treats to bring back home to my dad, some fierce new Prada eyeglasses (the airline had just lost my glasses a few days ago, so I was already in the market for a replacement pair), and was also able to grab lunch before heading back to my office. I am very disappointed with today's visit at 2:50pm. Upon entering Costco with my family this afternoon, I was stopped by a couple of workers. They stated that the dog was not a service animal. Therefore, she was not welcomed there. Even after showing proper documents, the blond worker began to ask for my daughters medical condition. It was very humiliating for all of us. We were ridiculed in front of everyone at the entrance. It became a spectacle as other members walked in and stopped to listen. I am baffled to know that Costco workers have not been trained on the HIPPA laws or customer service, for that matter. My young daughter felt awkward and embarrassed at the moment to have a service animal accompany her. It was almost like a bullying situation. This situation caused her to have a panic attack after leaving due to the incident - I am very sad to report. I seldom have the Hot Dog simply because it has declined in quality over these many years. But, it has been so long since I've had one, I thought I should see if it has either improved or has declined further. It was a real bargain back in the early days (they use the Sinai brand frankfurter). Now, it's their own "Kirkland" brand. In my opinion it has decline even further. First of all, the the all-beef Frankfurter now has less taste than before. But the worst sin is that there is absolutely no "snap" to it when you bite into it! The casing feels like it's softer. And the 'beef' inside seems a bit softer/slightly mushy. Because it's more bland, it would benefit from the addition of condiments. But, they no longer offer chopped onions or sauerkraut. All they have now is ketchup, relish and mustard. And as a final insult to the customer, the Frankfurter was not very hot. The bottom line is, the end product is not hot, lacks depth of flavor in the protein, lacks the kind of texture one expects for a quality Frankfurter and lack of proper hot dog condiments to help it feel and taste better. . Yes, the price is right but I view this item less of a bargain, today. Supposedly, the sauerkraut and onions were a victim of the Covid precautions. It looks like I won't be having another Costco Hot Dog for a long time to come. But, I must be in the minority since it remains their #1 best seller. read more

Much appreciation to Bobby who is the store manager here. It is the best Costco in the tri valley area. No matter how crowded, check out time here is always faster. The items here are always better too - they have a nice amount of chinese and desi items - again more than other locations. Incident happened yesterday and contacted management over the check out lady who checks your purchase before leaving who called me an asshole under her breath. Incident occured yesterday 10.24 ~ 515pm Never been so blatantly disrespected and embarrassed occurred with a family member present. Reported the incident immediately in the parking lot. Been a Costco loyal member for 20 plus years. Shared my experience with friends and co-workers. Will not be visiting that Costco if that employee is still there. Highly unprofessional. Unexcusable. Management said they would address the matter. Let's see how they handled the matter. I simply had my pizza box resting on the edge of the carts. When I noticed the individual looking into my basket I raised my pizza box to make it easier for her and put it back down as my arm was getting tired. Clearly she didn't want to take a few steps to look into the carts as somehow the box blocked her view so after marking my receipt she called me an asshole and loud enough so I could hear as I walk past. I like this Costco! It's always organized, clean , and well stocked. I've been to a ton of Costco's but I must say this one is my favorite. They usually have the new or seasonal stuff right when you walk in which is neat. I love the fact that they have a great variety of plants, flowers and even fruit trees. More than any other Costco that I have seen! My favorite items that they carry are their frozen salmon filets, dumplings, baby diapers (Kirkland brand), suja drinks , puppy pads, smoker pellets and extra oversized formulas. That's just to make a few Also check out their wine and hard alcohol. Lots of different ones at wonderful price points read more

DO NOT come to this Costco for any auto/tire service. I just brought my Tesla model Y in to get the tires changed after I popped my rear tire. As soon as I picked up the car, I noticed the low PSI tire notification was still active. I brought the car back, and they assured me that it was just the car, and it would update soon and go away. It's been 4 days, and the notification has not gone away. I used my tire inflator to check the PSI today and it was at 21! The standard PSI for my car is 45...I've been driving around with a deflated tire after they assured me that they checked, and it was a malfunction on the car. So supremely upset, and discouraged that they lied to me. Will never come back here for any auto service. read more

This review is for the membership desk. Very incompetent, slow and rude. I remembered Costco used to offer trial passes but now that is no longer the case. Any who as I explained that I wanted a trial pass, instead of saying we don't offer that but would you like membership? The service agent was very rude, didn't really listen to my request or he wouldn't have wasted 20 mins looking me up for no reason. He wouldn't explain why he was looking me up. He eventually brought over a supervisor who seemed very out of it kinda high ( I don't think she was the supervisor) and I explained what I wanted it wasn't till then that she said they don't offer it. This was not on brand for Costco's standard of service experience. Usually staff members are friendly, offer explanation, and helpful. Don't go here for A Costco experience. Go to concord or Livermore friendly people working there. read more

This is one of the most crowded Costco in the Bay Area, maybe short of SF and ElCerrito, but this one doesn't have a gas station at all. Parking is tight unless you get here early. I stopped in here as a have a friend that lives in Dublin and we came here. I saw they had cooked hot spareribs next to the rotisserie chickens. They were selling whole racks for St. Louis rubbed but no sauce for around $14.00 per package. I did see that they cook them here, along with the chickens, as opposed to some supermarkets that get the ribs from a supplier already cooked and all they do is sauce them and package and sell cold. I figured let's try. I thought the ribs were a little on the dry side and there wasn't as much meat on them as you might say get at a rib place. These ribs get trimmed short too, I guess so they'll fit in the package. For the price I was somewhat underwhelmed and will not get these again ... just stick to the $5.00 big roasted chickens! read more

Do not buy Graber window treatments. I have been a Costco customer for over 25 years. I have purchased numerous window blinds from them over the years. My last large purchase for window blinds with Costco was with Graber Window Blinds. They were not measured correctly therefore when they went to hang them, they were hanging with a 1/2-1 inch gap between the blinds and the wall, so there's NO privacy and there's improper light intrusion on the side of the blinds. Upper management agreed to take care of it, but then the Graber subcontractor would not show up to do the remeasurement. Long story short, a few years later, half my blinds are still defective. I complained again and upper management said we will take care of it, and a few months later the Buying Department said the offer to rectify the situation is "no longer" on the table. No reason was given other than they will not honor their word and make things right for me. Therefore I would recommend that you do not buy window treatments from Costco and especially not through Graber. I have called Costco over a dozen times and cannot reach the CEO, COO, or anyone in upper management. The management at Costco today is vastly different than from 20-25 years ago. I hope they would reach out to me to resolve this problem. Alicia , the Assistant GM in Danville CA is trying to assist me in resolving this issue for the past 2 months with no success. Seems like no one cares about their customers at the Corporate office since upper management is completely inaccessible now. I'm still hoping that Alicia would be able to help convince Graber to take responsibility and repair/replace my defective blinds. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would for the way their management treated us. We walked into costco with my service dog. The lady at the front stopped us and asked us if the dog is a service animal and we said yes. We were then tracked down throughout the store by their superior and no matter how hard we tried to say that she is indeed a service animal, he did not believe us. I could not get his name, but I think his tag said Bobby on it. He never listened to us and proceeded to kick us out of the store, even though I have my papers and they do not have a right to ask to see them. It was pretty traumatizing and this is the first time we were kicked out for having a service animal. They state that service animals are allowed at the front and we have never encountered such a rude experience. We really liked going to costco but now this place has made it difficult to simply get groceries. How can they say that their code of ethics is to take care of their members? They tracked us down throughout the whole store just to tell us we are not welcome inside. Would not recommend this costco anymore. It is such a shame that anyone would go through that kind of treatment. Worst birthday ever. read more
