I love costco Everything is so cheap! The meat quality is great and their cheese selection is superb. I recently got a membership because I needed new glasses from costco optometry. The optometry staff were very friendly. This location is known to be busy. Ive noticed that parking in the far right side of the building has spots open despite people fighting for a space near.the front. This costco is smaller than most others, but still has good service. As well as a good selection of products and items to choose from. There is a very good selection of food items, frozen items, bakery items, deli items etc. The value for what you pay for is also good since you overall get your money's worth like usual at costco and even if you didn't you can return it if it's not alcohol as in California the laws say you can't buy it at SCO or return it. In general, this Costco is still a good location to visit and fun to check out. The one main criticism is the parking lot as it is smaller than most other costcos' and it can be hard to get a space. May have to park in the Marshalls lot or across the street. It also can be frustrating trying to get into the gas station during hours as it too is across the street, but at least its never busy and its the largest in the Bay Area. read more

I prefer this location than Livermore or Pleasanton. I usually can find what's on my grocery list when I'm here. Parking can be a challenge even tho the parking lot is spacious but also shares with the Marshalls next door. The workers are usually friendly and check out is a breeze no matter how long the line is. And I love how the gas station is across the way. Avoids unnecessary traffic in the parking lot. Im just not a fan on now they've moved everything around and the set up is more like the other two locations in the area. Their old set made more sense. But hey, I'll still continue going to this location. I just end up taking longer trying to find what I'm looking for. read more

This location has a slightly different parking lot setup than the Pleasanton location, but I like the fact that I can get out of their parking lot easily while avoiding customers' cross traffic. I really only wanted to get a rotisserie chicken and some eggs (because they are truly the best prices and value,) and managed to leave with my sanity intact. I arrived on a Friday in the late afternoon, so it was busy but not as crazy as a weekend. It's super easy to use self checkout with only two items. Staff is nearby to help, which is nice compared to some other stores that just leave you to fend for yourself with a "please see cashier" and blinking light. Pro tip: treat yourself to a hot cookie and ice cream cup afterwards, because you're an adult and deserve nice things. The hot cookie and cold soft serve swirl...it's chef's kiss. read more

To make matters worse, they bring in vendors who block the ends of the aisles, causing crowding as people rush to try sausage, as if they've never had it before. Instead of these sausage vendors being familiar with the store layout and inventory, they know nothing and refuse to answer basic questions like where the hamburger buns are. Dr. Bethany Zhang, in the Costco ophthalmology department, An amazing doctor! Unbelievably thorough and complete. I completely felt that she cared about my examination. My initial thought was that my Kaiser Ophthalmology appointment would be more thorough, but I was completely in the wrong. Dr. Bethany did an amazing job, pointed out things that I can do to improve my eye health, and came up with two additional solutions that has made my life not only easier, but also has increased my vision effectiveness at work. She also explained how I didn't need an additional set of glasses, but just needed a modification of a reader. Thus saving cost of expensive prescriptions as well. I had several bad experiences with Caucasian Female Employees at this location. I asked to observe a jewelry piece with two Caucasian Female Employees and they gave me an ugly look like I was disturbing their conversation. I then told them passive aggressively that I'm talking to them and I reported them to management. If they want to gossip all day then they should not be in customer service. Another incident happened where I was questioned in self check out about my membership and my mother's regarding quantity of an item I was buying. It was either racial profiling and going above and beyond in my business. I hope management is aware because one day I will put these obnoxious power tripping women in their place. read more

Customer service (specific to membership) staff however I would rate as 1 or 2 stars due to my experience at this location. I requested a downgraded my Executive Membership (Corporate) to general Gold Star std. member due to transition from Corp. acct. to personal use acct. where I may purchase less as my company is in transition. The Membership Rep. was very strong/stiff attitude "Selling" how good the Executive Membership (annual discount points rebate etc) was compared to the standard membership for "Little People, middle class, non-privileged" style of membership sales. Costco rep. was not very nice, short in response, & non-empathetic (sarcastic) to my rationale of Corp. vs. personal acct. needs. Rep. showed signs of typical high end dept. stores to customers not wearing Armani suits, Rolex watches, Gucci shoes etc. Disappointing, since I am a Founder/CEO of 2 medtech corporations in Silicon Valley, did not disclose nor should I need to. This type of "Behavior" is what drives the need for change & how companies should treat any and all customers, not what this Rep. with a part time job working the customer service, membership desk "Barking" what I may lose in downgrading membership status. With that said, lessons learned here is everyone should treat people the same (best possible) and fairly. Personally speaking, I would have difficulty coming home to a person like this one, everyday 365d dealing with this near toxic style/behavior in life toward others. Because of this experience, I am planning to adjust & visit the new Pleasanton, CA store in the future, which is on my way home on 680-N from Silicon Valley, CA. I choose not to interact with "Trailer Park" educated rude staff at any establishment. In the area meeting a friend for dinner, we decided to stop by the Costco to pick up some necessities. This Costco is located in the Castle Square Shopping Center next to a Marshalls. Coming on Saturday afternoon, the parking lot was crowded but I had no problems finding a space. The store was busy but not packed so I had no problems navigating through the store. What I noticed is that the store had a good selection of USDA Prime grade beef and a large selection of wine and spirits. There were display cases with ultra-high end wine and spirits that I've not seen at other locations such as McCallan 25, Mortlach 30 and Remy Martin Louis XIII with prices from $2,000 to $5,000 and a $5,000 set of Bordeaux. With our couple items on out cart, we went to check out ant each lane was two carts deep so the wait was not bad. It was nice checking out another Costco. If you looking for wine and spirits, this location has a great selection even if you want to be spend some bucks. read more

What a terrible experience at Costco today. At the food court around 1pm on Friday 10/24/25 i ordered two calzones and two slices of pizza and an ice cream. The man at the counter lazily wrapped my food and as I tried to carry everything I dropped my calzone right there at the counter, I picked it up and gave it back to the cashier as I can no longer eat this because it was on the ground. My experience today and other tidbits. I walk inside and saw a wine I was interested in. Location just inside the door. I use my cell, Vivino app, take a pic of the bottle. It's about $20 and i recognized the winery. Suddenly someone reaches next to my right ear, and moves bottles into the empty slots. Loud noise...after the fifth I stepped away, turned and I said, oh let me give you space to stock. Millennial employee says, it's ok I you can stand there. I told him he was too close, surprised me by slamming bottles. He says, "it's good to have special recognition." Keeps stocking. I walked away and said, "Your rude." He responds, "Oh like that." Squares off in my direction puffy chest. Other things you'll experience is the really loud music blaring from the tire department. You can hear it loud a half football away. The positive; plenty of good items to purchase inside. Very clean interior store. Be careful of the parking lot as there have been assaults, car burglaries and crime. I live in Oakland, and will drive all the way to Danville to go this Costco for any big trips, tires, major purchases, because it's always smooth. It's easy to get into and out of, there's plenty of parking, the layout inside is good (isn't bottlenecked in several places like Richmond is). Employees here don't slam items around, I've never gotten broken eggs here. I've never had anything but good experiences with the staff. The optometry department here is also great. read more

However, I find that the product selection AND quality tend to be slightly better than that of San Leandro, Richmond, Concord, and Livermore. Costco parking anywhere is a nightmare. Rude staff. I just waited 45 minutes for a chicken bake. I was told to wait off to the side. I had my baby on the cart. Forty minutes into waiting, I tried to approach a window to ask. A very rude guy, I was told his name is Cooper, refused to help me. He shooed me off to the side and called the next customer. 45 minutes into waiting I decided to approach the returns counter where someone walked over a brought me a chicken bake. Dang, I've never felt so targeted in my life. I went to Danville Costco with my elderly father who is the cardholder. I'm one of the two guests. Danville Costco now has you scan your membership at the door before you come in. I guess because my Dad's membership is so old they told us to go to the membership counter and get a new one. I guess it started here. I was walking around and found some toilet paper on sale and there was this lady holding a melon. By the time we got our milk and were about to grab the eggs, the same lady with the melon walked in front of me. There are no melons on this side of the store. Then we walked down an aisle and this lady left her empty cart further up the aisle and walked straight up to me, looked at me and turned around. I don't understand it. I thought she was going to grab some food next to me. We opened up our membership when the Danville location opened. Before they made us a new membership card, my Dad's old card was black and white and all faded. So I guess it's criminal to try and scan in with a card prior to 2000. I just don't understand why they treat you like a criminal when Costco never sends you a new ID because the ID we tried to use was real. COSTCO POISONS ITS CUSTOMERS. They sell products with toxic chemicals that are endocrine disruptors including BHT. As soon as I discovered this with respect to the Olay body wash products using the YUKA app, I went to go and return the body wash. Of course, had I have known about this app and scanned the product in advance, I would've never purchased the product to begin with. But once I finally discovered this app and scanned the products that were in my house, discovering that Costco, a brand that I normally trust, would sell such toxic chemicals to its customers, I took the products back. Yes, indeed they were half used and of course, my family regularly uses body wash, but to discover how toxic these chemicals are to my family, of course I'm not going to allow them to continue using them. The absolutely horrible manager working in the returns department refused to accept the product back as a return, saying I used them. Of course I used them. I trusted Costco with my family's safety, and I'm exceedingly disappointed in them for putting these toxic products onto their shelves. Sure they are not the manufacturer, but they profit from chemicals that are poisoning people, and the environment. The Olay body wash products rank 4/100 for human safety, and Costco profits from this. Stop selling these products and people won't have to return anything. I am not one of these people who takes things back after using them for a long time ever, but this is a unique situation in which I discovered in horror that I've been poisoning my own family. Honor your return policy and take these toxic products out of your store. You should also terminate the employment of those people working at the return center who treat me like I'm trying to game the system -- I am not one of these people. This Costco is fine. This review is for Sheri. Sheri is the only employee, probably at any Costco I've ever been, that is quite simply rude and treated my wife and I pretty crappy. Last week, we went to Costco to pick up an online order. I was standing in the line to pick up the item, which was 6 feet from Sheri's line. My wife was in Sheri's line buying one item. My wife, who's on the account with me, was using my Costco card. Sheri reprimanded my wife very rudely and told her, "He needs to be here." My wife told Sheri that she (Sheri) saw me in line before I stepped over to the online pickup section (again 6 feet away). Sheri proceeds to ask what my wife what I was doing. Ummmmm, Sherrrrrrri, that's none of your business. All of this time, Sheri has a disgusted look on her face; staring at me like I just stole a rotisserie chicken. My wife made it clear to Sheri that wasn't her concern, but I was picking up an online order. At this point, Sheri wasn't impressed. Apparently, inserting herself into my actions and whereabouts wasn't enough. Sheri takes it upon herself to ask me directly what I was doing! I had enough of Sheri at this point, at which point I simply said I was online pickup. Sheri, being the all-knowing, snapped at me that I was in the wrong line, and I needed to pick up my online order from the locker boxes. HEY SHERI, WILL A 65 INCH TV FIT IN A LOCKER BOX??!! I love this Costco. I pretty much love all Costcos around the world, but I love the Danville Costco. For starters, Costco always has friendly staff. From the person greeting us in, the cashier checking us out, and the person writing a happy face on the receipt for my one-year-old, they always treat us well. I remember buying a washer and dryer combo once and the staff was friendly enough to load my truck for me. Costco is always reliable for having the things that I need, especially in the season that I need them. From flannel jackets to microwaves, Costco is my go-to for household and everyday items. PRO TIP: If you're as obsessed with Costco as I am, follow "The Deal Guy" on YouTube to stay up to date on new goodies. Overall, this Costco is a reliable warehouse for a good experience.
