If you're from Buffalo NY, you've likely already heard and tasted Costanzo's rolls. Their rolls are always fresh and they increase the taste of a sandwich by 100, especially if you toast the bread. I like the fact they offer food here as well. It ranges from breakfast sandwiches, to hot specialty subs as well as cold subs. My favorite sub is their royal, followed by their steak and cheese. Honestly, all the sandwiches I have tried are very good, fresh, and clean. You can choose to eat at the restaurant or to go. The sitting area is comfortable and spacious.

After passing by this place oh, probably 1,000 times and never stopping, yes..... I stopped. Not just because my friend works for Costanzo's, but because every great / fast sandwich shop in WNY gets their rolls here or they make their own. I had a roast beef sub tonight and for being a "bread factory", they sure did it right when they put the sandwich shop in the front. From gourmet grilled cheeses to soups and everything in between. I even met a real "Newman" that works there! (sorry for the Seinfeld reference, yeah... I went there) The rolls are really top notch. I will stop again when in need for something one the fly.

I just into visit my Family today. My Peeps back in NC said don't forget the rolls!! Then In pulls Bob! He's So Cool!! Costanzo's!!

Just picked up a package of sub rolls at Tops. When I got home I found there were several fruit flies in the bag. Yuck.

Ever since I was a 15 year old kid working in a pizzeria, I've loved Costanzo's rolls. To me, a sub just isn't a sub on anything else.

Seriously though a lot of my favourite sandwiches in WNY are made using these rolls.

I've been getting emails with specials from Jessie's, so I decided to stop in one day I didn't bring lunch. There was not much ready-to-eat food, so I grabbed a chicken salad with crasins from the cooler, which was pretty good on the go. Today I placed a mobile order for chicken cordon blue sandwich with fries, got a text when it was ready for pick up, about 20 minutes later. They use an app called Takeout Taxi that's similar to DoorDash, very convenient when you only have 30 minutes for lunch, but you can't order the specials on the app. You can call ahead too. It's nice to have a place inside the building to get good food.

They all seem to love working there and it shows. The restaurant itself is very cute and they often sell items from local vendors. You can't go wrong with any of the food. It can be a little pricey, but you get decent portions and I've never had anything bad there. A couple of my personal favorites: anything from the coffee area, their to go chicken salad box, tuna melt, amazing chicken fingers, and don't you dare leave without a s'mores cookie. Easily one of the best cookies I've ever had.

As there was only 7 people waiting. But it turned out they were ordering food for their businesses or similar because most orders were for 4-more sandwiches. Which explained the wait. I was introduced to Charlie the Butcher many, many years ago. My goodness, it was back in the 90's…read morewhen I was in college and patroned their express location in the Ellicott Square Building downtown. Their roast beef sandwiches were the best. The roast beef is so tender, they give you a good portion on the roll and there's a nice flavor, leaves me salivating. It's been quite sometime since I had one, I finally had some time and stopped at this location. I regret to say I'm disappointed in myself because I was stopping for a roast beef and ended up making the mistake of being spontaneous and ordered the grilled BBQ prime rib sandwich. I'm sorry, I didn't like it. So, this sandwich costs $15.99 (comes with nothing extra), it was also on a roll, there was no BBQ sauce (I assumed there would be) but it was just dry, plain, devoid of much flavor, they topped it with provolone cheese, a couple pieces of peppers and some onions but it didn't hit the spot for me. The Costanzo roll was overbearing. I learned a valuable lesson today, "stick with what you love about the place!" So, I'll be back for that roast beef another day. The inside is reminiscent of the local 80's fast food joints of Buffalo, I would call it a little shack. You walk in, lean back, look up at the menu, order and walk around to pay and pick up your food. There is a small seating area, a few booths to sit a party of four. Pick up your food at the counter after they call your name. Nothing fancy, just a quick little spot to eat.

First off, I was greeted and found staff friendly and efficient! You have plenty of options for seating .. dining area, front bar, back bar, even an outdoor patio bar. Although it is dive bar-esque, it was nice and clean (let's be honest .. some dives have a stench and stickiness that can definitely ruin your appetite, no matter how much you may love them). They have a set up for bands to play, as one was playing while I was there for their 2 year anniversary (congrats!). What was nice is although I could hear the band (it was playing in the back and I was up front), it wasn't over whelming me. I have eaten places where, no matter where you sit, it's extremely loud, and I appreciated that you had a choice here. Now onto the food: The food should have been doomed to fail; my tastebuds were prepared to eat sweet, buttery, syrupy French toast with a mocktail at brunch elsewhere. But wasn't hyped about the menu because of this (which is not dog and pony's fault .. I had to work and didn't have time to research where else brunch was available). I settled on the umami smashburger by a suggestion of my waitress. Now once again, could have been doomed to fail as I'm not a French fry person and my favorite cheeseburger is one I make on my own. BUT WOW their food blew me away and made me forget all about my brunch let-down. The French fries were fantastic and had a great seasoning on them! The smashburger was great to the last bite .. and I was NOT expecting to finish it as it was a really nice portion (I ate lunch now 10 hours ago and didn't need to eat again it was so filling!) but it was so dang gone good I sure finished it! Smoked cheddar .. chimichuri aioli ... kimchi bacon jam .. oh ya that bacon jam was EVERYTHING!! Thank you to the staff at Dog and Pony for making my long drive worth while!

I ordered the smash burger, my husband ordered the turkey sandwich. After we were waiting for our food for over 25 minutes, the server came over and said that he was just informed they don't have the turkey because they had an issue with that freezer. Ok, so my husband ordered the cheese steak because he was super excited for the bahn mi roll. My smash burger was alright, but the bread they use for their burgers remind me of those cheap buns you get from TOPS that just fall apart. The worst part was that they forgot the dog sauce on my burger, so I asked for the sauce, and THEY CHARGED ME FOR ASKING FOR SAUCE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO ALREADY BE ON THE BURGER I ORDERED. My husband made sure to tell me after we already left because he knew I would have fought it and our already 1.5 hour long lunch date would have been longer waiting for the refund... He ordered the cheesesteak and the sandwich was so small, and the "bahn mi bun" wasn't even toasted which is a signature for bahn mi bread. He said the flavor was fine but nothing to rave about. The worst part, for me, were the French fries that came with both of our meals. They were soooo heavily peppered that they were inedible. We asked for ketchup to try to make them tolerable, and they gave us a pre-portioned small cup of ketchup... You serve french fries with most of your menu, why isn't there ketchup on the table?!? Overall, It was a nice place to have on senrca street which used to only have the blackthorn and franchescas, but I would not eat here again.

We walked in and were surprised with how busy it was with many tables and booths filled. The waitress told us we could grab any booth or table and she'd be over with menus. I have to give a shoutout to our waitress as she was the only one working, taking care of everyone and doing a fantastic job! She was so nice and personable and made sure to check on us periodically. After we got our coffee and waters, she took our order and let the two of us relax and chat until our plates arrived about 15 minutes later. For breakfast I ordered two buttermilk pancakes and added chocolate chips (an extra $1.99) from the "Hub Caps" section of their breakfast menu. I will tell you right now, any normal person will NOT finish both pancakes! Wow, their pancakes are ginormous! Both were jam-packed with chocolate chips and topped with dollops of whipped butter. They were made perfectly - hot and fluffy! I don't know how but I managed to ALMOST eat both, but had to throw in the napkin about three-quarters of the way of my second pancake. I managed to impress our waitress - She'd never seen anyone eat as much of the pancakes as I did in the two years she's been working there. hahaha I'll be honest, of the breakfast places I've been to around Buffalo, Cruisers Diner, as of 2025, definitely serve up my favorite pancakes, not just because they're huge and VERY affordable, but they are cooked perfectly and they don't skimp on the extras, I mean there were a ton of chocolate chips both inside and outside. Cruisers Diner isn't upscale, fancy, but I don't want it to be! The 1950's style diner is comfortable and relaxing with friendly staff, is affordable, serving up quality food, and incredibly generous portions. I look forward to coming back, but for the sake of my stomach, I need to either ask for ONE pancake or learn to control myself by stopping at the second and taking it to-go! haha
