We love this location and more importantly their freshly made hot food. We enjoy this company and its offerings and hospitality. My "bowl" made my way, rice, beans, toppings, sauces, proteins, greens, etc. If you don't like the food this is partially your decision. We came here for the first time the other day and were happy we did! The restaurant is fast casual and felt bright and festive when we walked in. It's "shrimp season" so I ordered a shrimp burrito with pinto beans and roasted green chili sauce, and smothered with more sauce and melted cheese. They also put some lettuce with pico de gallo in the container with some added dressing. It was all tasty and so big that I ended up bringing half of it home to eat later. My husband had a grilled chicken burrito. The base price of a burrito is $11. 49 and it was an additional $2.50 for the shrimp and $1.00 for the chicken. I come in for a salad every couple months when my craving for their tomatillo ranch dressing gets too strong but tonight opted to try aforementioned burrito too (advertised cleverly on the door when u walk in) with black beans and rice. I could choose anything on the menu and will add the sweet pork no matter what it is. I honestly have never had a terrible thing here. Overall very pleasant to and a decent taco! I was starving after a day of running errands in Reno. I still had another stop and the 45 minute drive back home so I looked for a gluten free option nearby. This popped up so I stopped in. Popped in here on Sunday afternoon and wasn't too busy. I couldn't make up my mind but ended up going with the 2 enchiladas and a side of rice and refried bean. Saw this place out shopping today and thought it might be a good alternative to Chipotle. It is! I ordered the burrito with steak and the meat was very tender and generous amount. I got it wet with the roasted green sauce, which I wouldn't do again because it's more sweet than savory or spicy. It's good, but I don't like sweet. My wife remembered Costa Vida and has been wanting to try it so off we went. The set-up is similar to Chipotle and Qdoba. You walk in and decide on what you want (burrito, bowl, etc. They'll then take you down the line as you decide on your meats, beans, veggies, and other toppings. You pay at the end and enjoy your meal. I'll start with the good; the customer service was good and the restaurant was clean. No issues there. The food, however, was just ok. Nothing special. I opted for the grilled chicken burrito. They pressed and cooked the tortilla in front of me. I was able to select the meat, beans, rice, and salsas. I opted not to make the burrito wet. It's a nice room, with booths and tables all around. Typical Mexican dishes, and the portions were pretty generous. They serve your food in a round aluminum pie tin (with a lid). It's kind of a novel touch, especially when ordering to go (like we were). The food was pretty uninspired, but that might have been due to the guy who was making it. We didn't eat most of it when we got home. Price was normal for what you'd pay for this kind of meal. But have to say I've had better meals of this type at Qdoba, or Chipotle. Wife & I decided to try Costa Vida for the first time for lunch 1/13/25. We ordered two burritos. We sat down and my wife tasted her food. She had a distressed look on her face. I said,"what's wrong?" She said, "taste the sauce!" I tasted it. Yuck. The salsa was extremely sweet. Like ice cream sundae-level sweet. Like a large amount of sugar was added. Someone must have mistaken salt for sugar or spilled some sugar in it. Not what you want on a burrito! We took the plates back to the cashier and told her there was something wrong with our food and that it was very sweet. She didn't taste it or offer to replace it or fix it. She just said, "that's how it's supposed to be." I asked for a refund then, and she said "I can't give refunds. You have to come back some other day when there's a manager here." I told her I was going out of town the next day. She just shrugged. We were so hungry. We left the inedible food there and went down the street to Roberto's and had a great lunch. I still can't believe Costa Vida kept my $28 and gave us nothing. (Unfortunately, I paid cash so I can't reverse it.). I've never had anything like that happen to me before. Very strange. I don't usually review fast causal places but I love the tortillas here. They are made right I. Front of you if you go in which the little kid in me loves. The reason I had to review this place though is because they deliver to my office for a ton of events. We love taco bars! They are always on time, kind, and seek to know what more they can do.
