I live in Springfield, MO and try to stop in every time I go through KC. The ingredients are unique, fresh and excellently prepared. Great, quick service and always clean. No, this isn't a fine Mexican Restaurant, nor is it a Qdoba or Chipotle, It's more Southwestern (go figure based in Salt Lake!) with a fun laid back atmosphere (West coast vibe). Tenth time I've visited this Costa Vida, and they continue to impress. Very friendly service, amazing food. Better than Chipotle

We were told to try their best which was the sweet pork burritos... Definitely not authentic Mexican! And not good at all, it was shredded pork in sugar sauce. It tasted like an novice threw together ingredients and counted on folks that never had authentic Mexican to enjoy! My wife and son both looked at each other and said... What the heck? The decor was non existent and the condiments were underwhelming. I don't know what else to say. I'm done. Very amatuerish! read more

I've been eating at Costa Vida since they first opened here and I've been happy with just about everything! We continue to eat here at least once a week. Service is prompt and they always greet with a "Welcome to Costa Vida!" when you walk in the door. Chicken burrito is great and I love the small sweet pork nachos! If you are unsure of how something will taste, they will give you a small sample. You can also eat super healthy here, if you desire. GREAT PLACE! read more

We always try new restaurants twice, just to make sure we do not make any permanent snap decisions....after feeling like we were served a VERY POOR PRODUCT, (at least they did not give you enough of it...), and an unbelivably complicated method of ordering, BOTH TIMES! It was time to stop. We have now, like SO MANY other people, said screw it, because obviously, commenting on sites like this one, is a waste of time if you are truely trying to reach the Management / Owners.(The people who can make changes!) Its a shame, because if they even remotley had delivered what was promised. a lot of people out here searching for an AUTHENTIC Mexican Bistro. could have found a comfortable and fun home. read more

I don't live in the area but work in Lee summit and I stopped in for lunch. At first I didn't know how the place worked but Jake behind the counter was a rock star. He helped me through the whole process and went over every salsa and sauce. Honestly I would come back just for his service but to top it all off, I ordered the steak burrito and wow. The steak I was sure would be touch or on the chewy side but was blow away on the flavor and tenderness of it. I will be coming back now at least once a week. Not sure if Jake is the owner but if not he deserves a raise. Don't see employees go above and beyond like that anymore. read more

The food is just average, nothing special. A buritto is $7 and then they want to charge you 50 cents for a little scoop of sour cream. We have been here a couple of times and my husbands order was wrong every single time. There are better options out there and more affordable. read more

I'm a bit torn on this place. I've been 3 times now, since they opened. The first experience was not great. While the food was delicious (raspberry chipotle chicken salad-small size, which is more than enough for me), the service was terrible. My boyfriend got a shredded beef burrito that was the size of his head, and it was good also. It was the first week they opened, so I tried not to judge too harshly, even though we waited in line forever before even reaching the counter to order, no one seemed to know the menu enough to know what comes with certain items, or what goes on them. They seemed to pass orders among each other down the line and no one knew what was going on. We ate there, and were greeted by some employees while we ate, asking how everything was, if we needed anything, etc. All very friendly. As I said, my salad was great, so of course I wanted to give them another shot a few weeks later. Got there at a time when there were only a couple people in front of us in line, so we were hopeful. Still it seemed like chaos behind the counter. For example, one person takes the order and gets the appropriate tortillas ready, and passes it off to someone else, who again asks you what you ordered. Then they fumble trying to remember what goes on it, or they ask another employee next to them or passing by. Then it is passed off again for additional toppings, i.e. pico, cheese, lettuce, etc., and then handed to a cashier, who again asks what it is. Plus the orders don't stay in order because of different prep, so it makes for kind of a mess. It all looks very confusing, and no one seemed to know exactly what was going on, yet again. This time I tried the chicken tacos, and my boyfriend got the raspberry chicken salad (like I said-delicious). I won't order the tacos again. This is a baja-style place, and I prefer my tacos to be more authentic. They weren't horrible, but not what I want when I want tacos. Took this order to go, and decided next time it may be best to call it in first, so we could just pick it up, or try delivery, but then we were concerned we may not get what we ordered and/or expeced, as the person taking the order and making it may not know what goes on it... Third time's the charm, right? Again, waited a couple weeks and popped in for a late Saturday lunch. Got the raspberry chicken salad again (yes, it may be the only reason I keep trying this place), and boyfriend tried the mango chicken salad, which was also delish. Seemed to maybe go a bit more smoothly this time, although still a little slow-moving. I'm hopeful these people will get their act together. Although I think spending $20 on 2 salads and drinks is a bit high for lunch, the food is good, and the ingredients look and taste fresh. read more

I absolutely love this place, from the food to the price. Plus, they have a rewards card that pays you back for eating there. I have had the Rasberry Chipotle Salad & Nachos, the sweet pork Nachos are my all time favorite. Everytime I go in the people greet me at the door and are very friendly. The delivery fee is a bit steep in my opinion, but it doesn't stop me from going and getting my favorite dish. My kids love the enchiladas and the tacos, they aren't a fan of the sweet pork but LOVE the beef. Last time I was in there (earlier this week) I saw a gentleman cutting up the steak in the back, so the meat is freash!! None of this frozen brought in stuff that the other fast food places do. Costs Vida is the penultimate of the assembly burrito chains. Try your burrito smothered and try mixing the orchata and root beer for a root beer float feeling. My wife and I live in Jefferson City, but when we want a really good burrito, the trip out here to Lee's Summit is worth it (and that's with three kids under three). read more

I love the steak nachos. That's all I have tried so far, but have been back 3 times. I agree behind the counter is slow and they want to charge extra for everything. It takes so long for order to get to register that it gets kind of cold. Loved the flavor, but they need to work on their process. read more

Costa Vida is great! I am addicted to the shrimp tacos. The food is fresh and very flavorful, on top of that it is hot and quick. Even the beans and rice are delicious without loading you down with a lot of fat. Some of my friends at work love the raspberry chicken. Great value for the price. read more

My family and I really like this place. The food is great (better than Chipotle in my book) and the Coke Freestyle machines are fun. The problem is the food preparation process. It takes a long time to go through the line. The process is inefficient - employees seem to do all tasks with no particular strategy. We have two toddlers who love eating here, but keeping them busy in the long line is sometimes a challenge. Worth your time if you can tolerate the inefficiencies. read more

People told me this place was a lot like Chipotle. I love Chipotle so I figured I'd give them a try. There food wasn't terrible. It was just not comparable to Chipotle. I got a burrito with pork, white rice, and beans. There meats were not that good, I sampled them. There food was also too sweet for me. I like a mixture of different flavors when I eat. This had only one flavor. They should tone down the sauce a little bit, that's for sure. read more
