Came in thinking it would be as good as the Liberty location was (as they are now closed unfortunately) and it definitely WAS NOT. I ordered the chimi and enchilada combo the food out in less than 5 mins I kid you not.... Red flag (it was microwaved) with a tostada. The tostada had charro beans on it. I've never had a tostada with charro beans...both the chicken and carnitas were NOT seasoned at all,whatsoever. My sister had to send her plate back as well. She then ordered something she thought would be more flavorful(another enchilada with beef) it came out in less than two mins later and still lacked flavor. Im glad they took it off our ticket. I so want to love this place. I sit at the bar every time I eat here. That use to be often. The service is excellent and the margaritas are off the hook. Get a side car shot and you are ready to go! My go to is a number four. It is the enchiladas and maybe a deep fried Taco. The problem is consistency. It was always seasoned well and so tasty. Recently it has been on the blan side. Everyone has a different take on how they rate Mexican restaurants. For me, it all starts with the chips and salsa. The chips were warm and fresh, but in my opinion, the salsa was not good. It reminded me a little of a jar of pace picante. My daughter ordered the shrimp fajitas and thought they were just okay. The onions and peppers were a little undercooked for her liking. I ordered a chicken taco, a Chile rellano and a pork tamale. The taco and rellano were both good, but The pork tamale was so delicious! I will probably come back to this restaurant just for the tamales. The service was excellent and I think I'd like to come back a try more menu items. read more

The only major issue is that the restaurant didn't abide by social distancing at all in violation of Jackson County Missouri and Lee's Summit Missouri health orders. A couple of patrons entered the restaurant using their shirt they were wearing as face mask. The tables were not spaced apart and the the booths as well were not spaced the recommended 6 feet. Went to the newest location of El Potro to open..Liberty. Tried their lunch special, the Spinach and chicken enchiladas (comes with rice and your choice of beans.) I went for the refried beans. Our order was "to go" but they still included some chips and salsa, as they do for all patrons in the restaurant. They have quite the bar in the restaurant, and didn't change much of the former restaurant's look (used to be Pizza Ranch.) The Spanish rice is light and fluffy and flavorful, the way it should be. The refried beans are the right consistency and good flavor. Would have been perfect if they had added chopped onion, in my opinion. The white sauce is friendly to sensitive stomachs that can't handle spiciness. The chicken in the enchiladas had a good soft (but moist) texture, cooked properly. The spinach was not overwhelming. Overall good flavor! The salsa included is very mild (no spiciness.) Salsa is nothing I would call special. Loved the little "salad" they throw on the side as more of a garnish, complete with cilantro. I will have to try one of their dishes that comes with onion next time. It was difficult finding a menu on the web that wasn't of questionable source. They didn't have any "to go" menus I could take with me either, but I suspect they will eventually. read more

Not sure what happened but the low rating made me stay away. I'm sorry I did. In my opinion this is top notch Mexican food. Free Espinoca with chips is a great start. The taco meat has great flavor. Everything was hot and fresh. The service was spot on, very professional but friendly. Lots of moving parts on a Saturday night and it was running smooth. I look forward to eating here again. Seated immediately, got two big bowls, not baskets, of fresh chips, plenty of salsa, and a bowl of queso for every two people. That's a good start. Kids really liked their meals - corn dogs, chicken nuggets, and really good fries. Adults all ordered different meals and were happy. Burritos, tamales, tacos, rellenos, shrimp were very good.
