worst experience ever, I asked for one chicken taco and one steak taco, the employee said that they could only do one kind of meat for both. I told him I wanted chicken. He charged me for two steak tacos. My sister asked for a steak salad, same story. Charged for steak salad, got pork instead. I immediately got a water cup and filled it with soda for the difference. I usually have two tacos. I have always substituted a little salad , in the same tin as the tacos, for rice and beans. Yesterday when I went I was told I would have to pay for the "salad". I said I have never paid extra because I'm not having the rice or beans. She was very insistent and said they couldn't do that. I explained that I live here and have been doing it for almost 9 years. She still wouldn't let me have a little extra lettuce and some dressing without paying extra. So I said give me my rice and beans then. Wtf dude . I don't even know where to begin. The workers were rude, and obviously had no idea what they were doing, the food is crap, and the restaurant is dirty. I literally watched the guy making my food pile everything onto the middle of my burrito while the beans spilled out the sides, he barely wrapped it and then just shoved it into the oven. The lady working the cashier was super rude and unprofessional as well. I'm trying my best to be realistic about this, because they were busy, and I've worked in food before and I know how stressful and hard it can be, and how rude customers can be, but this is such bs. Stopped here for the first time on a Wednesday night. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of service and food! We've been let down so many times with Cafe Rio that our expectations were super low. The employees were all friendly and seemed to enjoy their job. My husband liked his steak salad and I enjoyed cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. The tables were clean. Same with the beverage and condiment areas. We will try Costa Vida again. read more

This place is always packed and it's usually pretty good, but the last few times I've stopped it's been really dirty and gross. Even when you're slammed it doesn't hurt to take 30 seconds and wipe things down. Food was okay, but definitely could have been better. This was the only food near the highway for a while. Friday night it was jam-packed, apparently from high school or college kids on a road trip. The mexican food was okay - not quite up to Chipotle, which I guess they're trying to emulate. Not a lot of options - choose your starch, choose your meat, choose your sauce, beans and rice. Whoa. Here it is. The worst food experience I've ever had. Came here at 8:10 with seven people in front of us and it took 34 minutes to get to us. They only had pork available which was lame. The speed to which the staff worked was pretty insane. Incredibly slow and the whole time all four of the employees were talking loudly about wanting to go home and how tired they were. To top it off they had a full tray right next to the lettuce tray filled with dirty water and bowls and sauce packets floating in it. JUST TAKE OUT THE TRAY. The whole serving area was filthy and there was a strong odor of bleach throughout the line. My buddy ordered a salad and the thing was no joke a third full of water. Seriously gross. One of the only places to eat in Fillmore. This place was packed. Much like a chipotle the line was almost out the door when we arrived and when we left it continued. The staff was working their butts off and I am thankful for them. Unfortunately because they were so busy the place was pretty messy. But all staff was working hard to keep up. This was our first time and the food was pretty good. If you are a strict vegan I would stay clear away. There maybe chances that of lots of contamination. This location was awesome. The employees were happy to help even as we came in 6 minutes to closing I know! They quickly made our order, and we were quickly on our way, we still had a long drive ahead of us We had 2 medium nachos, one with sweet pork and one with beef. They both were delicious. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! They offered no lettuce, tortilla's, and were very unkind to me and my friends. I got one steak taco with rice and beans, husband got a steak salad and kid got chips and cheese. It totaled $22.00. We all enjoyed our meal. Been here a couple of times in our travels. Came in today after a youth football game. We came through the door at 11:30, they opened at 11. They had a small line for which we were very grateful. When ordering my wife asked for a chicken salad. Crew member is like " oh chicken isn't ready yet" Really? He checked with the chicken guy who said a couple of more minutes. Normally there are mainly high school kids running the show, but of the 5-6 we saw it was late 20's & older crew members. Since she can't eat beef & pork her option was to go to a Burger King located on site. I continued on with my order. After I had finished 1/2 my burrito she finally showed up and told me of her nightmare at BK. It was ran by 3 Older guys too. She was gone for more than 15 min. It was so bad she asked for her money back since she didn't have her order. Guy at the till didn't know how to do that and then her order did finally come. Meanwhile at Costa Vida lots of people in line were ordering chicken and told they had to order something else or wait. My complaint is that you open at 11 am. Chicken is by far their most popular protein on menu. It's now closer to noon and still no chicken? No excuse!!! I know that during the now famous excuse of Covid everyone wants and thinks they should get a pass. At this location I wouldn't return here as it seems the people working here at Costa Vida or Burger King really just don't care. We as customers are left to pay the price for cost and inconvenience. And left to choose what they decide they want to make. At some point we need to stop using them and making a statement of enough is enough. Take care of your business or loose it. Business is tough, but if whoever owns & runs these 2 places aren't going to take care of issues they will loose through low sales & dissatisfied customers. I would hope that maybe someone from management would see this and reply. Is this a never happened before? Look at other reviews & they tell the story. Normally, we love Costa Vida. But the experience we had at the Fillmore location today was less than satisfactory. They weighed the meat on our meals and gave way less than normal (and not enough). My meat ran out half way through eating my small salad. We also ordered large chips and queso and the chips we got were all small and broken and the queso cup wasn't filled like it should be and normally is. Lastly, we ordered a kid's meal and got a cinnamon quesadilla with hardly any cinnamon and it was cold. We hope things change because we really enjoy Costa Vida normally. I'm not sure if it's just this location, but something needs to happen. read more

UPDATE I really complained about this place when traveling through once before, gave them one star, (See below.). I felt like it's my responsibility, after such a scathing review to come back and see if anything's changed. I'm glad to report it has, I've been back twice now, and was very pleased to see that the staff was very careful, both trips back to be very careful with cleanliness, and glove management, in happy to report, in changing my rating to five stars! (PREVIOUS REVIEW) Sick and disgusting, as I walked through the line, the kids who worked here were using their gloves to protect them from the food, not the food from them. One kid was cleaning the counters, and the floors, then emmediatly jumped right in and started serving food again with the same gloves. The next kid in line picked up the garbage can, the turned around, grabbed tacos off the grill and started serving food again; disgusting! I turned to my girlfriend and said, we'll be lucky if we don't get really sick, these people are horribly disgusting! Avoid at all cost, I'll never come back!
