I told her it was a first date and I was aiming to make it count. She didn't hide behind policy; she leaned in and helped me anyway. She went the extra mile and noted a table near the fireplace. That kind of touch means something. It's rare to find someone who helps set the stage for your evening before you even walk through the door. Delightful lunch stop! Very attractive place inside and out with a great lunch menu with varied options, all at affordable prices. Our server Roxi was attentive and helpful and recommended the salad special, an intriguing mix of grilled chicken, blackberries, candied pecans and feta over greens with a blackberry vinaigrette. Wow! My husband's steak was perfectly grilled and our daughter had the kid's chicken Alfredo. So nice to see that option on a kid's menu. We finished with the peach-blueberry cobbler. I don't know who Steve is but I love his style. This place is incredible inside and out and has delicious food - dare I say the best food in all of Richfield?! Someone local will have to correct me if I'm wrong. Steve if you're reading this, keep it up! I think the only thing that would have made my experience better is dry aged meat. Pair the tasty food with the well decorated interior (love the huge horse picture hanging above the fireplace) and you have a fan for life. It is important to say before I start that we learned after returning to the hotel that Steve had passed a couple months ago, and so the family is making a lot of changes with the restaurant right now. That said, I came with a co-worker while traveling to Steve's for two things - steak and key lime pie. And unfortunately it was Valentine's Day, so we waited patiently for a table for about an hour. We knew that would happen, and that service would be slower and things would be sold out. Our waitress was up front about what was sold out, none of which we planned to order. I ordered the filet 6 oz, medium to medium well, with a side salad and baked potato. The salad came out first just drenched in dressing. * Be sure to order dressing on the side. For the filet, what came out was crispy on the outside and rare on the inside. I sent it back, and ten minutes later, a very done chunk returned. When I cut it open, it was almost entirely fat. (Photo included) By this point, it was near closing and I was a sad traveler. They ended up charging me for the salad and potato (the side dishes) and comped the filet AFTER the waitress collected the steak for inspection in the kitchen. At that point, I was not about to wait another 20 min for a new one. When they asked about dessert, there was no key lime pie. So safe to say I left hungry, sad, and won't be returning. When we let the hotel front desk know, she told us about Steve's passing and I am truly sorry for the loss because she said he was a great man and ran a great restaurant. If I could rate this place a zero it would definitely be a zero star. I was really disappointed with my experience here. I ordered my burger medium, but it came out well-done and burnt. The bacon on the burger was also overly crisp and burnt, making the meal dry and unpleasant. The fries were hard and seemed overcooked as well. What made the experience even worse was the service. Our waitress was rude, inattentive, and noticeably more focused on the men at my table than on me. She offered drink refills to the men while their cups were still half full, but never once asked me if I needed one after my drink was completely empty. It honestly felt like she had no interest in serving me and only wanted to cater to the men at the table. Between the poorly prepared food and the uncomfortable service, this was a frustrating experience. I would not return. read more

I used to live in Richfield for about 15 years. I moved to Utah County in 2013. Ever since then, I have remembered how good Steve's steakhouse was. I haven't been able to find a steak as good as theirs. So I took my 28 year old granddaughter and 18 year old grandson and we drove to Richfield. We ate at Steve's steakhouse. I was sad to learn that Steve had died and one of his relatives was running the business. We each ordered a steak--I had filet, my guests ordered a ribeye and New York Strip, I think. The price was so much higher. My filet was 48, I think the ribeye was $50 and the other one was 48. I know the price of beef has gone up and if everything tasted like it used to, I would have walked out happy. The order came with one free side (unless you ordered their handcut fries then you had to pay $4.00. And no bread came with the meal unless you paid for it and ordered it. Has flour gone up so much that they can't serve it free? The french fries were just ok. I think they were frozen or at least they were not like the french fries they used to sell. I asked for something else because I didn't like the fries. The waitress first said that they can't give me something else after they have brought the meal to the table. That seemed curious because how would you know if you like it or not if they don't first bring the food? The waitress seemed to have attitude. Always had great service there before. She asked if I wanted mashed potatoes. I asked her to find out if they actually make home made mashed potatoes by cutting up the potatoes and boiling them, etc. She went back and then returned saying that they do make it homemade but then they add some potato flakes to it. Why would they do that? Do they think people can't taste the difference between homemade cooking and something that comes from a box? My steak was the right temperature but was totally charred on every outside part. The flavor was not that good-not horrible but not like it was. My bill for the three of us was $172 or about that. All in all it was a very disappointing experience. And I will no longer want to return for their food or their service. All Steve's relative had to do was follow what he used to do to have consistently good steaks and food. read more

While on our road trip, we found ourselves in Richfield Utah. Dinnertime brought us to Steve's Steakhouse. The restaurant opens at 4pm and we arrived at about 4:30pm. The restaurant looks new and is very modern. It kinda has that brewery feeling you get when in Texas. My wife and I were greeted at the hostess stand and we were seated immediately by a friendly staff member. For an appetizer, we ordered the "cowboy corn bites". These are similar to the "rattlesnake eggs" at Texas Roadhouse, but with the addition of corn. They were absolutely tasty! For dinner, I had the New York steak with a baked potato and an single shrimp as an addon. My wife had the "filet crowns" with a baked potato. The prices on the menu are listed as, "Market Price", which leaves the pricing to the imagination until the bill comes . (This visit the New York was $26). The food came out and was well seasoned and tasted great. The New York steak was similar to a breakfast steak in size and thickness. Pretty thin for a steakhouse, but it was tasty. My wife's filet crowns were thick chunks of filet and she told me that her entree was also tasty. The restaurant has a bar with several drinks and beers being offered. I didn't have any alcoholic drinks this visit, but the bar looked well stocked and ready for action. If in Richfield Utah, this place is worth a try if you are hungry for steakhouse food. I'd say it's more of a smart casual place to grab dinner. The staff here was friendly though not as attentive as I'd like. I had the corn bites which I thought was good. It was crispy and warm plus I'm a huge fan of corn so it hit the spot. The ribeye was ok, a overcook (we like it medium) and smaller than expected. Sides were good, salad was ok. I asked for something from the lunch menu and was told no. Obviously the lunch menu is priced at a lesser price point, so charge me a dinner price and give me what I asked for. Clearly that was not going to happen. I settled for something on the dinner menu. I was not impressed by the chicken fried steak. The mash and steak had the same gravy. Not great. The salad was swimming in dressing. The chicken fingers and fries I could have got a the fast food place out in front of this place. They may have been better. We'd finished our beers by the time our food arrived, but the waitress did not ask if we'd like another round. The original person who served us did stop by when we'd finished dinner to ask if we wanted another round, but by then we were unimpressed and ready to leave. We were passing thru Richfield and decided to spend the night. We didn't want fast food. Steve's menu looked good, so we decided to give it a shot. The outside looked inviting. The inside has the open concept design. It's a large dining area with booth seating for larger groups against the wall and tables and chairs in the center of the dining area. They had great music playing while we were there. Service was great from the moment we entered. We were promptly seated, and our waitress greeted us with a smile (sorry, forgot her name). If you want cheap food to fill your gullet, go to the Wendy's or the KFC next door. If you want beef, baby, Steve's is the place. We arrived about 4:30 on a Saturday, and we had the place to ourselves; an hour later, the place was poppin'. We arrived early to take in the Kentucky Derby on TV, and we occupied ourselves with cocktails (a little pricey) and spinach and artichoke dip (divine, if a little heavier on the spinach than the artichokes). We shared the prime rib (because my husband is Jack Sprat and I'm his wife so we cleaned up the generous cut). We ordered medium rare and got medium but it was still tasty (I liked the spice; the hubs found it a bit salty). We upgraded to the iceberg wedge, and it was a lesson in perfection; the balsamic glaze was an amazing counterpoint to the blue cheese). We also sprang (you say sprung, I say sprang) for the shrimp on the side. It was $5 per PIECE, but worth it. I had at least seven bites of my shrimp, it was so big (results may vary). We certainly weren't still hungry, but we ordered the carrot cake. The cake was moist and spicy, but I wish the frosting was cream cheesy. We took half of of the very generous piece home. Steve's is an airy barndominium, decorated by a rancher. It was a bit noisy, but that just prevents eavesdropping. If there's anything wrong with the decor, the bar stools are a bit short for the counter height. On the other hand, we had fewer dribbles on our shirts. read more

Other beef dishes have a price which is even more odd. It was partially good. But not worth $100 before tip good. My husband ordered a ribeye medium rare; it came out cut less than 1/2" thick, was very small and extremely well done piece of meat. I ordered a filet and it had no flavor at all, but it was cooked the way I ordered it (medium rare); I didn't care for the potato it was very dry/over-cooked and only served with sour cream. My mom ordered the steak tips, cooked medium rare. They came out so rare they were almost raw and also no flavor. Her baked sweet potato was complete mush. My parents were on a separate tab. Spend four nights in Richfield, UT and stayed at the Comfort Inn next to I-70. Not a lot of interstate noise there. Saw the restaurant near the hotel and tried it out for our first meal in town. Not too crowded, had a full bar! Waitress came and greeted us and took our drink order and came back to take our meal order. Explained the food on the menu, and asked if we wanted onions and mushrooms on our meal, I said yes please (love them on ground fried steak). Wife had the chicken fried steak meal. Waitress asked if we wanted dessert, they had some tempting selections but we said no, trying to keep the calories down. Nice ambiance, good music. A little pricey but what the hell we are doing the 5 National Parks in one trip and have to keep up our strength. Richfield is a little gem and a nice town, we will be back! read more
