It's been over 6 years since our last visit. Place is the same. Nice warm fire greets you when you come in. It's a small place, but as we ordered I remembered their awesome homemade salsa! We had the hit variety. So good. My wife had the chicken enchilada, beans and rice. I had the Chili Releno. It comes with 2 Chilis rice and beans. What a great dish when done right and they do it right here. This is Mexican comfort food at its best. Chicken enchilada was pretty big, stuffed with tender chicken. Beans were the kind you cook for hours to achieve the nice background flavors. Service was warm and friendly. They close down first of November till end of February. If in town search them out. It's well worth the trek off the beaten freeway path. Yummy!!! read more

This place was very cute kind of hard to find because it is embedded within a campground. The prices for the food are very reasonable, and the homemade salsa are delicious. If you are a vegetarian, make sure to look at the back of the menu to find vegetarian options. We had a very interesting vegetarian tamale, it was an open face tamale, covered with many different vegetables and cheese. I have never had anything like it, and it was quite good. My husband also had one and also a cheese enchilada. The servers were very nice and the restaurant was very clean. If you have a large group though, you need to make a reservation. We wanted to have a family dinner here while we were in town. One of our party had been here a few years prior and loved the food. It's a cozy little place. It was fairly busy when we went and only had what seemed to be one person working. She was very nice and doing her best. We were served chips and salsa and asked for an order of guacamole as an appetizer. The mild pico was sweet and the hot pico was not hot at all but had a much better flavor. The guacamole is not authentic guacamole, but instead mashed with sour cream. So much that you cannot taste the avocado. The chips were not fresh. The chicken chimichangas, tacos and flautas were good. The chili verde pork was very dry and unable to be eaten. The chili relleno was just ok and the Milanese plate had no flavor. The pineapple drink was good but pretty sweet. However when mixed with water it was very good. Overall I would say this is not an authentic Mexican restaurant and we would not visit again. The prices were fair but the food just wasn't worth it. I hate to leave a bad review but for those expecting authentic Mexican food in Beaver, you're better off at Beaver Taco. read more

Oh my! Maria has excellent Mexican food here! My spouse had the chili rellenos & I had the chili verde. The food was freshly made by Maria & the tortillas were fresh & thin - like homemade. Staff was attentive & caring. Wish I lived close by, but just traveling through & staying in the RV park (which is perfect). Only thing missing was beer & margaritas because this is Utah. read more

My son and I saw this place on the way to Eagle Point to go skiing. We we're so hungry after that we gave it a shot. Parking was a little wonky because it's at the front of an RV park, so just do your best. No liquor, beer or wine. Excellent food and service. Great salsa, loved the hot but was a little hot for my wife so we mIxed the regular in with the hot. Chips good. My chili relleno and enchilada plate was good. My wife dared to be different and got pork and cabbage that she didn't care for. The workers could not have been nicer, and the building is pretty cool. read more

Ok for an overnight stay, felt weird there. Most of the occupants are permanent residents. The swimming pool is just full of weeds. Didn't use the restroom or showers. Not sure If I'd stay again or just drive down the road to a Different town. read more

This place was such an eclectic and inviting place to dine. It is a true cabin qith a huge fireplace in the middle of the roo. My daughter has a deadly dairy allergy and they were amazing at keeping her food safe from all things utters. She ate the refried beans, rice, and a carne asada steak. All of our food was flavorful and delicious. We loved all the fun things to look at, both inside and out. Every table filled up for dinner, no one is in a hurry, so plan to be there for a little while....good place to relax and fill up. read more

It took some searching to find this gem. Nestled inside a campground/RV park, I heard the navigation to the address was wrong so I kept my eyes open. There is signage and it wasn't a problem. I parked near the office, not blocking the road, in front of a picnic table. A small business with about 8 tables, even large tables for big parties, this log cabin is great. The décor is superb and inviting. It is comfortable and quiet. Chips and salsa was good. You can tell the salsa is homemade chunky with fresh onions and cilantro. I started dinner with dessert: some fried ice cream. It was served in a margarita glass! Beef and bean burrito smothered with red Colorado sauce and cheese was what I had. Was delicious and hearty. I have had my fair share of Mexican food and this is goodly authentic. I prefer more spicy but it's all ok. The meal was so very reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and all smiles and kept beverage flowing. I cannot give more than five stars or I would. Find it. Well worth it. You'll be glad you did. First the service was good, the folks working were friendly.  Second if you're expecting authentic Mexican food you're in the wrong place.  For Utah it's good, but if you're expecting something you would get anywhere in Mexico,  SoCal or Southern Arizona this isnt the place for you. We were asked if we wanted spicy or mid salsa with out chips, we took both.  It's made well but not much spice in the hot one and none in the other.  I'm fairly sure the chips were from a bag.  I had a Mexican lemonade and my wife had the mexican pineapple drink.  They were very good but after they fill you glass half full of ice not worth $3.00.  I had the chimi plate and my wife the chili relleno plate.  Unfortunately for them we had just had real Mexican food near the border, ordering the same thing.  What was lacking in our dinners here was flavor and spice. Here's my recommendation if you're from Utah or Idaho it will probably be excellant for you.  If you from anywhere near the border go somewhere else read more

We absolutely loved this Campground! Very different, fun, unusual and peaceful. With Passport America our night fee was $13.50. Dave (88 yrs young) checked us in and even showed us his old studebaker car - beautiful! Dave showed us to our spot, slightly narrow but very long sight on gravel. To our delight we noticed that each site has a rustic 3 sided shed with a wood table inside. They are made from wood the looks like bark on trees. Very cool. We noticed that a lot of permanent residents extended their shed into rooms and patios. Charming and very unique. There is a Mexican restaurant at the front and it was recommended highly by the locals. Open 4-9 PM The park is surrounded by hay fields and horses, hills and lots of birds. Cute playground equipment such a seings, covered wagon, tires made from rustic wood - reminiscent of youth summer camps. We will totally come back here. My dad and I stopped into Maria's for a quick bite and early dinner. The chips and salsa were fine. However, once we received our food, we quickly realized it was inedible. Chile verde tasted sour, as if some herdez salsa was thrown onto some old pork. The chicken inside the taco and enchilada had a curious grey color. We didn't want to seem rude, so we asked for a to go box and left immediately. I would not recommend Maria's for dinner. read more

Beaver, Utah is usually a stop on the way to somewhere else, but if you happen to be near and you've got a craving for fresh salsa... Maria's is the place to go. Maria's is a little bit further from the freeway than other dining options but it's worth your three minute drive. Nestled at the front of a very impressive (and highly inhabited campground) the restaurant features some really impressive signs that show the miles to Glacier National Park, Seattle and the Great Salt Lake to name a few. Once inside the quaint restaurant you will be ushered to one of the few indoor tables (there are a few outside tables too). Immediately request some hot salsa to go with the mild salsa you'll receive with your chips. The homemade salsa fresca is some of the best I've ever had. You'll be happy with whatever you order here... and if you ask, I'm sure Maria will come out and give you a hug! read more

We had the pleasure of eating dinner at Maria's tonight. It's been a few years since we've been through this area, so wasn't sure if it would be a good as we remembered. It was!!!!! Our party of four enjoyed every singe bite. We had chili relleno, enchiladas, tacos, chili verde between all of us. No one was disappointed. I had to take part of mine home, however I did find room for dessert. If your ever in Beaver, Utah you have to stop here. We found out about Maria's from a local several years ago. When we go through Beaver this is a must stop for dinner since they are only open for dinner (4 to 9). We love the salsa. Not being a fan of really hot stuff, it is perfect. Excellent flavors and fresh. It's definately not bottled. The last time we visited we brought our own canning jars and took home two quarts and two pints. We've tried several different meals over time and always have been pleased. I especially like the Chile Rellenos. You have to hunt for the location since it's on the road to the mountains east of Beaver in a RV park, but it's worth the effort to find. Found this place on our way home from a long road trip. We were driving an RV so we needed some place with parking for it. It is hidden away inside of an RV park but it has huge signs on the street for it, you can't miss it. We had the tacos and tamales. My kids are very picky eaters but they all loved the tacos a la carte. The tamale is opened face and tasted amazing. The staff is very friendly and I'm pretty sure Maria does the cooking. Definitely a hidden gem. It's only about 5mins off the highway so it makes for a fast stop with home cooked style food, definitely not fast food style. Thank you!!! read more

I am not one for writing bad reviews, but you just kind of know when you should. We were re-routed to Beaver, UT due to a forest fire last weekend. We booked a stay at the best western and went to the gas station nearby where the attendant recommended this restaurant. We got there later in the evening, but there were people outside waiting when we got there. We got a table after 15 minutes and were brought chips and salsa. It wasn't until the 3rd or 4th bowl that I realized it was being scooped out of a big open jug right there in the dining area. I was hungry, so that didn't stop me from eating it. Our service was sub par. We were told three times that someone would be right over and it seemed like we had to wait a little too long to order. My husband ordered a burrito, I ordered a tamale and taco carnitas and my girlfriend ordered the steak ranchero. I thought I had ate to many chips and when my food came out I was unable to eat very much of my meal. I felt nauseous due to the no air conditioning and picked around at my food that tasted off. My girlfriend and my husband loved theirs and she finished her entire plate. We went back to the hotel and I fell asleep right away. This next part is where the fun begins. At about 2 am I woke up thinking I felt sick, but talked myself out of it and went back to sleep. My girlfriend woke up at about 4 am and was running to the bathroom barely making it. We both spent the remainder of the early morning both puking and then you can imagine what came next. It wiped us out for an entire day and a half of our trip. I have never had food poisoning before, but I can tell you I don't wish it upon my worst enemy. I still haven't been able to eat meat, which I think is what caused our issues. read more

Hungry and looking for somewhere to eat, we came across Maria's Cocina on Yelp. We decided to give it a try. Literally a hole in the wall, located at an RV park, we were a bit undecided as we approached the entrance. But once inside, the ambience was kinda cute and it was toasty inside, which was plus because it was cold outside. We are seated and waited on promptly. We were served some chips and salsa, which were tasty. So my daughter opted for a chile relleno plate with a side of rice. She loved it! It tasted homemade and the cheese was runny and gooey! My son opted for the carne asada plate with rice, beans, guacamole and three corn tortillas. He said is, "dude, satisfying!" My hubby opted for the steak ranchero plate. He said it was excellent, fresh veggies, good beans and rice. Tasted fresh and homemade. I went for the burrito with ground beef and beans and I topped it off with red sauce and cheese. Wow! It was delicious!! I even enjoyed the beans, which I usually skip. Service was fast but it tasted like they took time to prepare it! I should have trusted the more highly rated Yelp reviewers, the service here was horrible. The "local" reviewers of this restaurant clearly have never had real deal authentic Mexican food. First off the service was very slow and bad. The primary server did not seat four parties who were waiting despite having six open tables which could easily accommodate each party. Instead everyone waited 30 minutes plus, and were finally seated in the same open tables. Curious about the delay I walked in and asked for a menu and noticed every diner had already been served their dinners or were simply waiting for a bill. This restaurant needs better front end management. The service once seated did not improve. Waters were placed on the table, and that was it for the next 15 minutes. Finally the original server who denied seating to everyone came out and to our orders. I went with two staples carne asada and a chili relleno. The asada was unseasoned and cooked on a diner style flat top it was tough and poor. The relleno was cold and soggy, drowning in a gooey sauce. The kids got tostadas which were soggy due to undrained shredded lettuce. Drink continually were empty until finally the server left a water craft. In all avoid this restaurant, it has a cool setting but the food is of poor quality and preparation and the service is among the worst I have encountered in years. Super cute little campground. Equipped with clean bathroom facilities, hot showers, and a laundry room. There is also Maria's Mexican food restaurant on site, great place to grab some grub. They are open until 9pm most nights. Camp also has bags of ice and firewood for purchase. Staff was super sweet and very accommodating. Camp is easy access right off of the road. We did hear a little noise from the passing cars but it wasn't anything the crackling campfire and chirping crickets couldn't drown out. The local Shopko (behind the Wells Fargo in town) and Mike's grocery is a great place to pick up supplies. The Shopko let us break up some of there pallets out back for our firewood! We are 3 couples from Texas traveling with 3 5th wheel RVs, hunting for a place to eat. Read good reviews on Maria's so we went there. It was excellent. I called to make sure she was open for lunch, she said no but you come anyway, I can cook for you. When we got there, 20 minutes later, water and chips and fresh salsa was on the table. Had a tasty dinner tonight at Maria's, based on other Yelp reviews. Did not disappoint. The food was delicious and the staff and service warm and homey. Two types of salsa, both home made and delicious. Combo plates are enough to feed the hungriest traveler. Site is inside the grounds of an RV park, but in a small log cabin, probably seats about 20 persons. Well worth exiting the interstate to get a home cooked meal. Any restaurant that has been in business for 25 years (according to our waitress) is doing a lot right. Enjoy! read more
