Added the house salsa to everything. Ordered Verde sauce over the chili, tasted green. No spice, cilantro, cumin,chili flakes, none. Put of a can, La Victoria or El Pata would have been welcomed. Ive never hated food at any restaurant. But Kan Kun was exceptionally BAD. "crispy tacos" worse than Taco Bell, same with burritos. but the worst part were the enchiladas. You practically needed a serrated knife to cut through these things, PLUS there was absolutely NO enchilada sauce to be found with enchiladas. Refried beans tasted "reconstituted" and the whole meal was the first time in my life that I actually hated the food. We were starving after traveling, so we ate most of what they served. A buddy and I wanted mexican food so we thought we would try this place out and ended up being very disapointed! It took awhile for someone to greet us, took 5 to 10 minutes for our drinks to get to our table and then there was maybe 10 to 15 chips for chips and salsa and the salas was gone just like that after 15 chips max. I got a chicken and a ground beef enchaldias not much flavor, I ended up just adding some hot sause to get some flavor. The Burritto my friend had was huge but once again he said there was no flavor and it was the worst burritto he had ever had. It was a little expensive for what you get. read more

This place must be vindicated! It feels a little odd giving a 5-star review to an establishment that only has two 1-star ratings, but I'm telling you, this place has the best fried ice-cream that I've ever eaten in my entire life! I am originally from Utah and have eaten here a few times over the past several years. Their Mexican food is pretty solid. I don't think it was bland like others have complained about. It wasn't the best Mexican food ever, but it was fresh and hit the spot, especially after a long drive. I recommend to any person who travels through Beaver Utah, you must stop here and try the fried ice cream! It's a giant scoop of ice cream with a fried, crispy glaze of either chocolate, caramel, or honey. It sits in a warm, crispy, sugar coated tortilla and served with whip-cream and a cherry. AMAZING. During a road-trip from California to Utah I would seriously drive an extra 3 hours to go through Beaver just to pick up dessert. read more

My overall experience at this restaurant was by far one of the worst I've ever experienced in my life. Coming to Kan Kun has pushed me to write my very first review. After sitting down initially, the waitress took our drink orders of which we ordered a round of waters and a root beer. She than casually mentioned that they had no running water and that they would be charging us for bottled waters which seemed odd to us b/c most establishments would provide free water no matter what the circumstances. We placed our orders and she brought out my nachos but hadn't brought my root beer ..... we waited and waited for her to come back but after waiting, we went to kitchen to locate her of which she than finally brought me my root beer and told me she forgot. How could you forget a basic order of all waters and a root beer?? That was strike one, than my 2 year old niece had to go to the bathroom and they didn't have a working bathroom. My sister had to take her daughter outside to potty in the parking lot, strike two. The nachos I ordered were drenched in toppings and were not good, strike three. We than requested to talk to the manager and he/she refused to come out to talk to us, the final strike!! Unbelievable, no ownership what's so ever. My food cost $20sh dollars and the whole drink order 5 waters plus a root beer totaled $17.95 ..... ridiculous!!! It's not even about the money!!! It's how they handled everything!!! Wow! What a pleasant surprise! We ordered take out from here and the service was fast and amazing the food great and delicious! I got the beef fajitas and they were AMAZING! Chips are nice and thin (my personal favorite) and veggies were cooked perfectly, not overcooked and soggy. I am not sure about everything else because this was what I tried, but definitely would recommend it if your in the area! The only reason for docking a star is because typically portions are a bit bigger and the beans and rice really lacked in flavor. Otherwise it would be a 5 star for sure! read more

Overall- solid restaurant. Good quality food and a clean space. We took a chance on this restaurant since we were tired of "roadtrip food". While initially skeptical (early and limited reviews) the food was good. Steak quality was good, the guacamole and rice were legit. Food was not super salty which was a plus. Flavors are a mix of central and coastal (Yucatan) Mexico...not spicy, more on the tangy (chile verde enchiladas) or sweet side (fajitas). Recommend the "Asada signature dish" and the "fajitas". Price was about $13-$15 for each of those dishes. Some of the dishes seemed a little overpriced (burrito about $11-12). We were at 3.5 stars of 5 but since we can't go with half numbers...giving them a 4 since some of the really early reviews are not representative. read more

Immediately no one should have to pay extra for chips after two servings are provided free. The salsa was nothing special that was complimentary. Our waitress asked if we wanted a side of guacamole we didn't realize we had to pay for it until it had been provided with no extra chips. It's annoying that they were so stingy with the chips especially since our children love chips. No silverware was provided when we first sat down. The appetizer was served with a steak knife pointing outwards it came mere inches afrom my purse and myself as well as my son. When we received our dinner. My husband jwondered if his chicken had been pulled out of a can. While we were eating the table behind us was cleaned and to our shock a vacuum was brought out. This is a great place to stop--we've started planning our trips from SLC to points south around scheduling dinner here. The food is fantastic and the service has been good and efficient no matter the number of people. Get some chips and salsa to go. They can't be beat. Anything with the shredded beef is my favorite. The shrimp diablo made with chicken instead of shrimp is my husband's. The chili rellano is fantastic. Great for a roadside restaurant. They get the flavor of the enchilada sauce just right, although the amount of cheese on their fajitas is excessive. They manage to keep the chicken moist and tender. Too many restaurants utterly fail at doing that. A charming quirk of Kan Kun is the bevy of local humor books adorning each table. An author named Ben Gordon wrote the entire Truth About Life series, which includes a Guide to Geezerhood. The food is cooked on order, so the books make pleasant entertainment while you wait the 10-15 minutes. read more

Im a truck driver and ive passed by this place many times and got excited to try it out. I went and waited for about 8 mins for someone to assist me. A young lady with black hair came and I told her i wanted to order some food to go and she looks at me ignores me and tries to help the guy behind me. I was mad but it was what ever so i got my food ordered and left to walk my dog while they made it. I came back in and seen a bag of food but again nobody came up to me to tell me it was my food until i went up to someone. The food was over priced, i paid 14$ for a chimichanga and it was so bland. I have been to this res any times and until now I have been satisfied. However, yesterday we went for an early dinner with my sister and her husband. The service was rude and poor. The servers seemed to want to get us out quickly. The bowl of chips they served was only half full and when we asked for a refill it came only a third filled. The server would interrupt our conversation to ask if we wanted more water by slapping my wife on the shoulder. We did not at anytime feel welcome. Problem with prices. There were 5 of us. My son ordered chips with cheese. I got a bean burrito. We ordered 3 sodas, no booze. So, for those 5 meals and 3 sodas is came to $110 for lunch. Service was extremely poor, practically had to beg for chips and salsa. Baskets of chips were halfway full. The one "can't miss" restaurant for me when in Beaver. It's simple, straight forward and unpretentious. The fajitas are my top dish, but the rest of the menu is good too - but nothing fancy. There's a limited but satisfying wine list and the chips and salsa served while waiting for a meal are average (but good). We went to this restaurant wanting to like it and having read good reviews. We came out of there wondering how anyone could rate this place even average. The food portions were the smallest I have ever had at a Mexican Restaurant. When the chips and salsa came out the chip basket wasn't eve half full. Our waitress was rude and impatient the whole time after she realized we weren't buying specialty drinks and a lot of extras. To top it all off I noticed on my check there was an extra charge of $1.99. I asked our waitress about this and she said it was because I asked for extra chips after already having two portions. She acted put out and told us it was on the menu is small print. I told her it was no big deal and she kept making snarky rude comments about what a cheapskate I was. I didn't have a problem paying the extra amount and told her this but she still acted put out that I would ask. I would have had less of a problem paying the extra if the chips were better and the basket would have been even close to full every time. When we walked out of there we all couldn't believe the poor attitude and service and my friend made the comment that he couldn't believe he just paid $20, for a small portion meal, for the worst Mexican food he has ever had.
