This was hands-down, the best meal we had in this town…read more We've been trying different restaurants every night and this one was a home run. It was also $200 for the three of us to eat here but holy moly the service was amazing and the food was the best ever. My daughter and I got the salmon and ate everything. My husband got the filet mignon and it was cooked so perfectly. Everybody's meals were cooked so perfectly. I wish I could afford to come here every night. We also got the lemon sorbet for dessert and it was kind of creamy and delicious.

Hunt and gather has dispelled me of that notion, because HOT DAM this is good food! We had heard that Hunt and Gather was a place to get a good meal, so we made a reservation a few days ahead. We were seated promptly, by a friendly hostess. The wine and drink list was good, we were all able to easily find things we liked. My friend and I shared a bottle of White Wine, as we intended to have lighter meals. The server was VERY conscious of and accommodating to my allergies, which is always appreciated. For main, I chose a piece of trout, my favorite fish. It was beautifully seasoned and prepared. It came with roasted potatoes and vegetables and a creamy sauce that was fantastic. It went very well with the wine we had chosen. For dessert I had a piece of the Sweet Potato pie, which was delightful, however, my husband won the dessert round with his praline ice cream. Next time I roll through Torrey, UT I will happily dine at Hunt and Gather again.

I've been dying to try this place after reading the reviews and am so glad I finally did. The food is fresh, unique, and flavorful. Definitely not your average menu. The serving sizes are massive. Not expensive at all. REAL FOOD - which is so hard to find at restaurants in these small towns. This place exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to try more items from the menu. A must try in my opinion!

I was told I had to try their Fried Mushrooms and I know it seems like a strange combination, but they were sooo good. The perfect batter paired with a great spicy ranch, it was awesome. Even my mushroom hating fiance enjoyed them! My fiance tried their Salmon Tacos and said they were amazing. I tried a bite and wasn't a huge fan, but I think that's more personal preference. I loved getting to try this restaurant, and I'd love to come back soon!

Pulled off of hwy 89 to have a quick supper, and I wasn't disappointed. Along with the menu, we loved the special, I had the Flat Iron and it was SO YUM. Something I thought was great was how fresh everything is. They use all clean ingredients and local suppliers for their menu. Such a breath of fresh air these days! For a fast casual restaurant (order at the counter), I was surprised by the service standard and how much they cater to each table. Food comes out fast! As a bonus, it seemed like the only place in the area to get liquor. It's worth a try if you're in the area!

The fries and shakes were good, but the burgers were terrible. My wife's burger came with everything and although there was ketchup on the table the burger was swimming in ketchup and mustard. Mine was the "Cowboy" and came with fried onions, and the onions were so overdone, breaded, and SALTED that they were no longer onions. I removed the onions and ate what was left. I think the beef had some funky filler in it because it was packed tight and not loose like hamburger, and it tasted like it had oats or something in it. Both of us felt like the burger was with us all night, if you know what I mean. The staff needed some training but tried hard. I'd like to see this place succeed, but the prices were high and the cook needs to take some lessons.

The cook on the other hand managed to over cook our cheeseburgers until they were dry and had no taste at all. The burgers did not have any mayo, no secret sauce or mustard. Thankfully it came with lettuce tomato and pickles on the side. We finished our lunch with their highly touted peach cobbler. Mistake number 2. It was the strangest tasting peach cobbler my wife and I had ever eaten. Even with the ice cream it didn't hide that taste. The peaches were small exact cubes so that let me know they were some type of processed fruit. Again GREAT staff of servers but not a good meal

We stayed at Big Rock Candy Mountain Resort in one of the train car units in October, and it was…read moreeasily one of the most disappointing lodging experiences we've ever had -- especially for the price (nearly $800 for three nights). From the moment we walked in, it was obvious the unit hadn't been properly cleaned or maintained in a long time. There was thick dust buildup, cobwebs in corners and on light fixtures, and visible grime on multiple surfaces -- even the inside of the front door. We found a dirty sock on the floor and an empty tissue box shoved under the TV. The bed frame was broken, kitchen countertop was broken with large amounts of grout missing, several lamps didn't work, and overall, the train car felt run-down and neglected. It wasn't just the unit. The entire property looked uncared for. The sprinklers outside our window pounded against the glass at 2 a.m., waking us up and forcing us to go outside in the dark to fix them ourselves. The convenience store was rundown, the soda fountain machine didn't work, and there was no coffee so we had to drive 10 miles each morning just to get coffee. There is NO restaurant on site. They sell gas station nachos and hotdogs. They advertise Starlink satellite internet but there are only hotspots around the property. I reported the state of the unit to staff upon checkout and followed up with photos afterward. Instead of taking responsibility, management chose to minimize our experience and referenced a supposed "strict no refund policy" that doesn't appear anywhere on their website or in the confirmation email. When the owners finally responded, they brushed off everything as a matter of "personal standards" and stated "after reviewing all the facts in the situation, a 10% refund seems appropriate, if not generous". The resort is now under new management, and it shows. The focus seems to be entirely on increasing revenue, not maintaining the property or caring for guests. The way they've handled our situation -- dodging responsibility, minimizing our experience, and inventing policies to avoid accountability -- says everything about their priorities. For a place that advertises itself as a "resort," the experience was anything but. The property is in disrepair, the cleanliness is unacceptable, and the management clearly cares more about money than the people spending it. Save yourself the disappointment -- this place is not worth your time or your money. The photos I've attached speak for themselves.
