We stopped by here on Friday night on our way to Salt Lake City. I ordered the Double Cheeseburger. It was delicious, fresh, and cooked to perfection. My wife and daughter had the taco salad and enjoyed it as well. The meat was tasty, and lettuce was fresh. The staff were very nice and polite. If I am ever in Beaver, UT again, I would stop here and eat again. read more

Really fun little drive in not too far off I-15! We were looking for a cute local spot to grab a quick bite on our road trip from Denver to Las Vegas while we were passing through Beaver. We also had our dog with so we had to make sure it had an outdoor eating area. Then we came across The Drive Inn (fka Mel's Drive In) and knew we found our spot. When you pull up it's not super obvious where to go if you want the traditional drive-in experience but if you drive around the building you'll see where to park. Otherwise if you want to eat in or grab it to go, you can park and walk inside. The menu has a surprisingly big selection despite their small building with really reasonable prices. From burgers to salads to wraps to tots, there's something for everyone. Even an assortments of desserts including ice cream and Dole Whip for some after dinner fun. We both grabbed a double cheeseburger meal and it was delish! Exactly the kind of burger you'd want from a drive-in. If you do make your way inside, there's a small video game arcade including Walking Dead pinball which was a fun surprise. read more

I love local drive in restaurants and try to stop when I come through town. They have a drive up window, walk up window and indoor seating. I used the drive through since I had my dog with me. They took my order quickly, but be prepared to wait for a bit while they prepare your order. I ordered fries and a cheese burger which I ate in the park around the corner. The food is hot and fresh. I really liked the fries. They are a bit thicker than others, with a really good crispy outside. The cheese burger was delicious. I also ordered a kids cup of soft serve vanilla to share with my dog. First off, the fries and fry sauce are straight up ballin, amazing job there. The burger was good too, don't get me wrong, but so few places get AMAZING fries and AMAZING fry sauce, and these guys have all 3. I was driving down to Vegas and stopped in Beaver for something to eat, drove by and came in. Service was fast, food was hot, and great. What more can one person ask for. Give it a try, you won't find a better burger spot in town. read more

Excellent! Keep local businesses alive! Quality food just a mile from the truck stop. Service was so considerate and quick. They saw we were traveling and brought our 4 kids meals out in their own bags. Provided plenty of dips and napkins as well. Hubby had a pastrami burger and said the pastrami was smoky and had great flavor. I had a patty melt which was superb. Thank you Drive Inn for amazing service and food! read more

Employees...waited over 35 minutes for food, no one in restaurant. Finally asked if it was ready and they handed food over cold. Then made shake and drinks as they forgot. we ordered large icecream and small gelot and it took an hour for the to give us our food. We finally had to just ask them hey is our ice cream being made. They said idk let me check, while our receipt was on the floor getting stepped on! They still gave us our food 5 minutes later! Wasn't the best experience but good ice cream. read more

Unexpectedly good food! We stopped in Beaver as we were passing through on a road trip and needed some dinner. There seemed to be quite a few restaurants closed for the day already, even though it was only 7 pm on a weeknight. We stopped here because it was open, hoping it would be good, and it did not disappoint! The fries are thick and battered. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Absolutely delicious! The burgers were grilled well and very flavorful. We also got a Dole Whip and Butterfinger milkshake. Everything we got was delicious. I would definitely stop by and eat here again if we're passing though. read more

Went here for one reason on our road trip home... Dole Whips. Ice cream stops are a must on our road trips. They keep my wife happy and counteract any complaints about my "beer with dinner" requisite. None of us had ever had a Dole Whip, but have heard of their popularity. They are a cross between ice cream and sherbet, with strong fruit overtones that are not overly sweet. We had the pineapple and raspberry flavors. They were enjoyed by all and ensured my dinner in Orem (with limited dinner options that serve alcohol) would be accompanied by a cold beer... or two. I am cunning. read more

Halftime at Beaver football game. Mel's is across the street so we decided to try it out. This is small town America at its best. Place is old and nostalgic. Very clean and well kept. Has a drive thru & inside service. Menu is a good cross of fast food and diner items. Had the Double Cheese Burger. Served fresh off the grill & great flavor. All you want in a burger & fry combo. Yelp special is a free medium fountain drink. Met the owner & she was great. Service was prompt. Great place for American Fast Food. Enjoyed the burger at halftime. First, it's not a drive-in. They do not provide car service. Next, the cashier missed 3 items on our order, and she brought us the wrong sauce for one of the replacement items. They do not provide ketchup, mustard, salt, or pepper at the table, so you have to ask for everything you need. AC was on max the day I went, so it was uncomfortably cold. The good things: The food is good. I had a burger; it was decent, which is what I would expect from a burger place. The place is clean. Our food didn't take forever. ...so two stars for meeting bare minimum expectations. Mel needs to try harder. read more

One of those great places you don't find unless you're willing to travel off the beaten path. We had The Navajo Taco, Flour Soft Taco, Taquitos, Chocolate Shake and a Smoothie. Everything was fantastic! Service was fast and friendly. Two things that we loved were the amazing view and the little green space with picnic tables next to the parking lot. We were able to stretch our legs, enjoy the view, let our dogs play a little and have a wonderful lunch. I hope we find ourselves back in Beaver someday. read more

Basic backyard burger, minus flavor, half the meat, and no personality from the staff. I highly recommend....nothing. Wanted to try the Navajo tacos and they didn't have any taco meat. they also couldn't explain what it was - only that it was a taco on a scone. (Actually, that description made me want to pay to see it). Large fries means extra salt and two containers of thousand island dressing. Picadilly is fried potatoes like tater tots, but not shredded. Couldn't try those either (none in the freezer) Picnic tables are in the back if you want to eat al fresco. We did. Nice and quiet. So, skip this place and you won't be let down. read more

Classic. American. Burgers. I could have stopped there but you have to know They have serious burger game at Mel's. I got a Double Bacon Cheeseburger and my wife got a Cheeseburger. Both were perfect, greasy, cheesy meat bombs just as a good burger should be. The bun was soft but durable with just the right amount of cool veggies to counter the hot burger. Really, do your taste buds a favor and stop here on your way through Beaver. read more

We travel from northern utah to Northern Arizona frequently and wanted something other than chain fast food. Pulled this up on my map as the co-pilot and made the executive decision to have lunch here. My boyfriend always craves fries and today was no exception. We stopped in and went inside, service was super friendly and fast. They took our order at the counter and even made recommendations. We ended up with chicken strips and ... yup, fries! We tried one their signature drinks as well, and dang if I can remember what it was. Sprite, coconut and mango, aka Cootie. Anywho, it was yummy as well. Homemade ranch, crispy salty fries just as they should be and crunchy chicken strips. It was definitely a win in our book and will be a new stop on our trips. Thanks so much!! We stopped on our way through town. We were a little skeptical but oh my how our minds were set to ease. I indulged in the cowboy burger and it was the best burger i've ever had. I feel like a broken record: I love me the small town burger shack. So with that context, know that Mel's is a little piece of heaven for me. I mean, this is a divey little joint in a small town that I tried on my way back from a national park road trip. Pretty much heaven. Mel's is exactly what you'd expect in a side of the road burger shop: makeshift building, greasy burgers, and a small selection of shakes that will make you quiver and shiver. I ordered my classic: double bacon cheeseburger, fries, and chocolate banana shake. The burger was nice--not too large, but packed with charred cheese and a little bit of bacon. I was a little disappointed that the order of fries wasn't larger, but these are thicker fries (not steak fries, but not shoestring, either) and I gobbled them up all too fast. As the shake goes, I'm a fan. Very, very creamy. The banana wasn't as well incorporated as I typically like, but the creaminess made up for it. What a great way to end a road trip and get my grease on! read more

I went to a burger place and ordered a taco salad. Probably my bad for the ehhh food. We also ordered a vanilla malt that was more of a soft serve. No way you'd be getting anything through a straw- had to eat it with a spoon. My husband also ordered a burrito, and yeah, we should have known. Solid 5 Stars! Exactly what we were hoping to find on our road trip! We wanted a burger and fries and they delivered. Their burgers come with everything! Pickles, tomato, onions, lettuce and sauces! Their fry sauce was good but not the most amazing I have ever tried. Very fairly priced and fairly portioned. Staff was friendly and even brought us our food because we wanted to sit out back. They have 5-6 picnic style tables, including a kid sized one in the back. Open grass for the dogs to play and potty. Quick, right off the freeway and if you stay on Main Street it takes you right back to the freeway so you can get back on the road. It was a perfect little dive! read more

We've always enjoyed this restaurant and love it even more now that Crystal and Steven are the owners. Crystal is always watching out for my allergies, even when I forget to mention no this or that, when she's there, I know I'm covered. Lol They offer friendly service, amazing shakes and DOLE WHIPS , best burgers, chili fries!! Very generous portions. It's almost sad to say, but this was better than a lot of what I've had on my recent occasions in San Antonio. I stopped in quickly since we had to get back on the road, and from ordering to food in hand it took no more than 5-7 minutes. I ordered three mini tacos at $3 each, which is a solid price for Utah. I went with one carne asada, one lengua, and one adobada, all topped with cilantro and onion, served on fresh corn tortillas. The tortillas were soft, warm, and clearly made fresh. For salsas, I had two salsa verdes and one salsa roja. The salsa verde was classic and mild -- very fresh and flavorful, though I personally prefer it a bit spicier. The salsa roja delivered exactly what I was looking for with good heat and great flavor. I almost ordered tacos suaves, but I was really craving the mini tacos and I'm glad I went with them. Next time, I'll definitely try the tacos suaves. Everything tasted freshly made and not rushed, which made the experience even better. The restaurant is located inside the Flying J off Interstate 15 (Exit 112), and I was also impressed with how clean the Flying J itself was. Great service as well -- the guy at the counter was friendly and welcoming. This stop turned into a great meal and a new memory in the small town of Beaver, Utah. I'll definitely be back if my routes bring me through again. Highly recommend stopping by Beaver Taco if you're passing through.

They were delicious! We asked for red sauce, green sauce, paid a little extra for pico de gallo, and the nice lady working there gave me pickled jalapeños upon request. Many Mexican restaurants in Southern California, where we live, don't offer the relleno burrito, so that was a win. The whole experience was a win for us, so check them out!
