7/22/24 Today I ordered a mozzarella bomb sandwich with a side order of fries and ketchup. All I received was mozzarella sticks that were undone and dry fries with no ketchup when you're a working woman with less than 30 minutes to eat your lunch, you want what you pay for. But the roll wasn't heated well and the meat was rather bland. Nothing that would deter me from coming back, but 4 out of 5 stars seems right. Fries dumped hot into a styrofoam container, so naturally they taste of plastic and sadness, a limp memory of a French fry. Though they were well seasoned, after tasting, I didn't eat them. The bread wasn't toasted. Maybe that's a Scranton thing? So while the filling was good, mushy wet bread is no way to treat a hero. Meh..... place is ok if you're looking for a quick bite to eat. I tried the whiz footling cheesesteak today and it wasn't anything to write home about. I will say it's quite expensive for a lunch sandwich. Comparing to other places in the area, you should be able to get a full lunch that'll get you full for $8-$12, drink and side included. My all time FAVORITE cheesesteak. 3 or 4 cheese is my go to with mushrooms and crispy cut volcano fries with whiz and bluecheese. OH MY GOD!!! The cheesesteaks are always piping hot, the cheese is perfectly melted and mixed through, perfectly seasoned. The rolls are thin and steamed you aren't eating a bread sandwich with a piece of steak. The fries are amazing, I love the wing sauce mixed with the blue cheese and whiz. When I order to go I request the cheese, and sauces on the side. Super friendly staff, very fast service. The menu is not huge but they do cheesesteak and they do cheesesteak well. I crave Cosmo's on the regular and make the 30 minute drive just to get me some. Found this right off 81 traveling from Boston to Ohio. Great lunch. Split a steak and small fries with my husband and still couldn't finish it all. Very clean and food was delicious. We got the 3-Cheese Cheesesteak with onions and banana peppers with a small volcano fries with hot sauce and blue cheese. Highly recommend both dishes. We stopped here for lunch while visiting for a basketball tournament. Read reviews that this place was good, so we decided to try it out. It wasn't bad, but also wasn't great. People were saying how good the cheese steaks we're so we decided to try but I was disappointed. The meat was tough, so I'd say it was ok not great. My son got the wing bites, which were good, I rather of eaten that than the cheese steak. Fries were natural cut fries, which I love, so those were good. Overall, I'd say it was ok. I had one with BBQ sauce, cheese, onion rings and peppers on it and it was amazing. You will not leave here hungry, the sandwich's are huge. I am a long term customer here and it really hurts me to be writing this review. I pulled into the cosmos parking lot on A Sunday afternoon and headed to the door. Who I assume to be the owner came out yelling "what don't these f****** people get, we're not open". He then realized that I was out of my car and standing right behind him. After this this absolute nutcase tried to shake my hand. I respectfully declined, and he replied with "go back to f****** New York", as he saw the plates on my vehicle. Cosmo's recently opened up in the old Granito building on Moosic St. Cosmo has done a great job updating the building, particularly the signage. I wish I could be as enthusiastic about the hoagies. On the plus side they are a good size and you have the option to have them made with Whiz (Cheese Whiz). I wasn't thrilled with the quality of the meat. Unsanitary, disappointing food. I had such high hopes for this place. My mom and I had just came from visiting Harrisburg where we had an amazing cheesesteak experience so we were craving another one. We knew better than expecting something identical but we were still looking for a good steak sandwich. The place was a decent size. It's within an office building with a small private parking lot to the side. There were absolutely no other customers in there when we arrived around 11am on a Sunday, but this was around the time they opened. We began by ordering their four cheese cheesesteak with a side of homemade cheese fries (we were in a cheesy mood I guess). We had never been in here before so looking at their menu was a first. In a box to the lower right of the cheesesteaks were toppings, which we didn't see, so we forgot to mention we wanted peppers and onions. You would think the cashier would have asked if we wanted any toppings while we were ordering but we ended up going back to the counter after noticing our mistake. Most toppings were not included. Just mayo. So you had to pay an extra $.50 per topping for an already $8.00 sandwich. It didn't take too long for our food to be served, about 5 minutes, and it looked great. Although, biting into it, we were disappointed. It lacked flavor. I needed to add ketchup to mine it was so boring. The bread was strange, almost baguette like due to its chewiness, which did not go well with the cheesesteak at all. There wasn't a lot of meat either. I know we ordered the four cheese, but the cheese to meet ratio was almost double and not in the "my sandwich is overflowing with goodness!" kind of way. It wasn't overflowing at all... The fries were pretty good; home-cut and slathered with cheese sauce. It wasn't anything amazing but they were decent. As my mom and I were sitting there eating our food I noticed something on my mom's food. "Mom, I think there's a hair on your plate". She looked down and reached to pull it off when she noticed it was attached to her sandwich! She started to pull... A long brown hair was slowly pulled from the bread of her sandwich (and neither of our hair colors are brown!!). She thought she got it all so she tried to put the idea behind her and keep eating but after another few bites, she saw another one mixed into the meat and cheese! Both of us put our sandwiches down with a loss of appetite. I mean we did end up splitting a large one, so who knows what was in mine... I ended up walking to the counter to inform them. I didn't want another one nor was I looking for compensation, but I just wanted them to know. Maybe someone should wear a hair net back there? The woman ended up refunding the cheesesteak to my credit card which I give them props for (hence the two stars). I didn't ask them too, but I am glad they did something in the end. We were pretty grossed out. Overall, we were very disappointed. The place itself was pretty gross. My mom went into the bathroom and said it was disgusting and they had just opened for the day! No excuses there. We hope no one has an experience like ours. It really killed our appetite. Even if the hair in our food didn't happen, we probably wouldn't go back (and I probably would have given them 3 stars instead). There are much better cheesesteaks out there and for better prices! Cheesesteak and fries are my go-to when I come here. The buns and steaks that they use remind me of the cheesesteaks I've had in Philly (i.e. Jim's, Pat's, Gino's), so I was not disappointed. It is a little pricier than most of the other sandwich places in the area, but the quality is there if you want a good cheesesteak. I've never actually sat down and eaten in Cosmo's, but every time I've gone to pick up, I haven't had issues with parking or service. read more
