Unfortunately, our experience with Corner Pizza was extremely disappointing--not only because of the food, but because of how the situation was handled when there was an issue with our order.
This happened on Friday, August 21. We placed our DoorDash order at 7:55 PM for pizza and meatballs. The food didn't arrive until approximately 8:40 PM, and when it did, the pizza was seriously burnt. The crust was so overcooked that large portions were essentially blackened and difficult to eat.
To make matters worse, the meatballs were completely missing from the delivery. We contacted Corner Pizza, and both a worker and eventually a manager told us that they "don't really work well with DoorDash" and essentially placed the blame on the DoorDash driver for not taking the meatballs.
I do understand that the DoorDash driver also has some responsibility here. The driver should have reviewed the itemized order and double-checked that they had everything before leaving the restaurant. However, where were the meatballs supposed to be with the order in the first place? A DoorDash driver isn't going to automatically know where every individual food item is supposed to be unless the restaurant properly prepares and hands over the complete order.
We also discovered that the pizza and meatballs were on separate tickets in Corner Pizza's system, despite the fact that we ordered them under one account at the same time. If the restaurant's system separated the tickets, that's something that should have been caught and communicated when the order was being prepared.
By the time the food arrived at 8:40 PM, we only had about 20 minutes to figure out what to do. DoorDash wasn't answering, and Corner Pizza wasn't willing to help with delivery of the missing meatballs or offer any compensation. Ultimately, one of our friends had to drive to Corner Pizza themselves to pick up the missing meatballs.
Mistakes happen. We understand that restaurants use third-party delivery services, and things can occasionally go wrong. But what really made this experience unacceptable was the lack of ownership and customer service. We shouldn't have had to spend our evening troubleshooting an order that the restaurant prepared incorrectly--especially after waiting 45 minutes for the food in the first place.
Between a burnt pizza, missing food, nearly an hour of waiting, and having to personally drive to the restaurant to retrieve part of our order, this was an incredibly frustrating experience.
