Celebrating my 50th birthday
Lori J.

I celebrated my 50th birthday here at the witch Creek winery. They let us decorate our table. They had amazing wine flights. They also have a coffee bar and a really cute antique store that I bought furniture for my house while I was enjoying the wine fun little place nice atmosphere.

Funky brunch

I came for the funky brunch and it was chill. I don't know if it got busy later, but it was a bit empty from 11am-12:30pm. Idk if they promoted enough for the free event. I enjoyed the little spread they made. There were croissants with butter & jam, fruit, 2 different quiche, crackers, orange juice & coffee. I ordered a sparkling wine to make a winemosa with my orange juice. The DJ was playing some 90s hip hop & R&B. Some people were dressed up for the event. I just got off work so I wasn't dressed up for it. It was a nice first time visit here. I will most likely come back for the food or a cooking class.

IT'S ME. - HI. - I'M THE WITCH. - IT'S ME. After the COVID era, going out in public is pretty trash now. People seem anxious and on edge. Pretty sure it's because there are a lot more witches among us (...all the quiet talk of moon circles, black flame candles, and magic crystals). Something is definitely happening... perhaps due to the great 2020 binge-watch of Charmed, Hocus Pocus, and The Good Witch. There's now a witch in every friend group. This phenomenon trends with historical precedent... in the 1600s, your only career choices were farming OR witch. These days it's not uncommon to meet a Glinda or a Celeste or Esmeralda... and they no longer wear pointy hats to identify themselves. They look normal, but if they whistle at different pitches and call out to things that don't have names... you're with a genuine conjurer of the dark arts. But there is more to the practice of the ju-ju than waving a wand, boiling up some potions, and dishing out spells with a few funny words. You want to avoid being an emotionally unavailable narcissist witch with anger issues. At the risk of being turned into a root vegetable, here are my... TOP 5 (BE-BETTER) BEST WITCH PRACTICES: (1) Lots of cooking and chopping involved... so get one of those Instant-Pot cauldrons (2) Take it down a notch. Put only subtle spells on people who annoy you: like ending their constipation right after their shower, multiple paper cuts in the exact same place, or ensuring their bath water is never quite hot enough (3) Keep your broom in good repair so you don't fly off the handle (4) Maintain a steady supply of goat blood, eyes of newt, raven's breath, and tears from virgins {_Amazon_Store_link_} (5) Move on from past transgressions. The kids who called you a witch for having green eyes? ...well the pet store does need more hamsters Pro tip: For the best tasting Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Barbera anywhere... combined with excellent service, live music, and Sleeping Tiger coffees... Witch Creek is our go-to urban winery (there's witches here but the more evolved kind).

Pesto & Sun Dried Tomato Pizza Pesto Butter with Baguette

Cam was so kind and engaging. We had a wonderful tasting experience during Happy Hour. Lots of patrons came in for a swing in glass and would be on their way. Open and easy going atmosphere. Would love to see them bring back a Franc! Farmers market selection of pizzas were a great paring with wine flight. The pesto butter with the crust of pizza was a sneaky unsuspecting delicious addition. As a tip- bring cash to pay and trip to avoid service / credit card surcharges. Plus tipping out in cash is always so appreciated! Mahalo

First time stopping here was really pleasant. The space is shared with a coffee spot but there is a lot of seating, both tables and bar seating. The guy who was working the bar was cool and friendly. They have some wines that aren't their own, but the ones that are their own, he said they source the grapes from California, mostly Lodi, Paso Robles) and the wines they don't make are also from the same California areas. I tried the Pinot noir and I enjoyed it. I think we would definitely come back here if we are in the area.

Live entertainment.

This is a large and nice looking place. I wonder why there weren't more people here. I arrived between 8 and 9 for some drinks and live music, and we were the only couple there at the time. The guitarist was great, but the ambiance was kind of sad. Later a few more couples showed up, but they remained in the back. They have wine, beer etc.- but I didn't try any. My husband had a beer. The service was fine.

Pesto pizza - $13 for happy hour

Went here for happy hour (M-F 4p-7p). Great service, great happy hour deals, and the pesto pizza was delish! Will definitely come back again!

What a big beautiful place! Even has a chandelier and a stage-ish at the back. There's a coffee shop in the wine bar too. We came during when it was really hot and it was so stuffy and hot in here. Like a hot box. Unfortunately I think because of the heat some of the wines were compromised. It didn't taste good, sort of flat and vinegar tasting. We did enjoy their charcuterie board though. Maybe we'll come back in the winter when it's a little cooler.

I don't remember what I got but I tried two different types of reds and they were absolutely delicious. The tuna crudo is really tasty and fresh. The flavor combination of the citrus and garlic is unique and addicting. I could have like 5 plates of this! The duck was cooked amazingly - maybe a little on the salty side but not enough for me to mind. The lentils and fennel were a fun combo to pair with the duck. Again, a unique dish that I thoroughly enjoyed. Lastly, we ended the night with a creamy basque cheesecake. This is one of the better cheesecakes I've had. It was rich and sweet but not sickeningly sweet. I loved everything I had and the servers are always amazing and so knowledgeable about the wines which I really appreciate. Cheers!

The service was awesome from the hostess to our server, Jenny, who took amazing care of us and was so intelligent and well-spoken. We were super happy with the food selection and would've loved to try more. The prices were on the higher end but the portions were more substantial than we expected and I felt nothing was priced incorrectly. The only thing that was a total miss for us was their winter salad. The lettuce didn't taste right and there was little to no flavor. I would avoid this dish if you go. A very small blip in an otherwise splendid evening!

Our wonderful server John really made our last visit fantastic. He helped us decide at every course and we were incredibly thankful for his perfect suggestions. All of our food was even more delicious than it looks, if that is even possible. Paon will be missed!

I was in France back in September 2024 and what I missed most was the bread at various restaurants…read moreand bakeries. I was pleasantly surprised by the chewy texture of the complimentary bread offered at Paon, and one bite took me back to the streets of Paris where I strolled along the Seine River munching on my baguette. Our waiter only offered one small piece each, so I had to ask for a second piece. If my meal were just the bread alone, this would have been a 5-star review. Unfortunately, my dining experience declined after the bread... I ordered the Organic Beet Salad, and it was a disappointing stack of 3 round pieces of beets, each 1/4 inch thick and 2 inches in diameter, topped with arugula and small pieces of pistachios sparsely scattered on the plate. My friend and I looked at each other and asked, "what happened to the rest of the salad?!" Seriously, $21 for 3 pieces of beets?? My friend ordered the French Onion Puree for $19 and got a regular sized serving so we continued to ponder what happened to my beet salad. It was the joke of the evening. This dish was an unconventional spin off the traditional French onion soup, and sadly, while it was a creative idea, it failed to deliver in taste. My favorite thing about French onion soup is the gooey gruyere cheese. There was a small dollop of melted brie on top and that was it. It was a disappointment, but not nearly as sad as my beet salad. For my entree, I ordered the Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass $55. The fish was very tender, but the dish itself was extremely buttery and oily. I ordered this dish because I wanted something healthy, but it turned out to be a very heavy dish. The basil beurre blanc was just too overwhelmingly rich. My friend ordered the Seared Rare Hawaiian Yellowfin Tuna $52. The execution on this dish was better than mine. For dessert, we shared a Creme Brulee $18. We did not like this dessert because it was room temperature and tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. We like it chilled but with the hard sugary glaze. The top wasn't torched enough. Overall, while we enjoyed the ambiance, we did not really care for the food (except the amazing bread). Seeing how much we enjoyed the bread, it would've been nice had our waiter been more generous and offered us more bread. A good server would be more proactive and not wait to be asked.
