The service ànd attentive mios from that young lady is not welcoming, it feels like you are asking food for free, I am never going back there. Also, there are some tables however I did not see any one sitting ànd eating at the time of my visit, the ambiance is dead ànd not welcoming. No bueno.

The food was overall all tasty, but I thought a but pricey. The lady at the counter was not too nice, like she was in a rush. But hey we all have things going on right.

Teriyaki Combo (sauce on the side)
    Tom B.

This place is a gem!!! I love ordering their combo teriyaki bowl with the sauce on the side! It's soooo good and the meat is already flavored well so you don't even need to eat the teriyaki sauce! Highly nutritious and still so delicious!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is very clean and they have tables to eat there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The customer service is always friendly! Their price point is on the higher side, but good tasting nutritious food costs more! Well worth it!

    Korean BBQ burger

I was craving a juicy burger...started Yelping...found this unassuming place close to home! The name doesn't really say, "Korean fusion" though...I read a few reviews and tips and ordered the Korean BBQ burger! Omg! Large! Juicy! Delicious! I hadn't planned on it, but I ate every single bite. The only drawback is that it is MESSY - ask for extra napkins- problem solved! Wet wipes would be helpful too! I'm going to come back for their bowls & noodles. Yelp to the rescue, once again. Note: Closed for break between 3:30-4:30 (I originally arrived at 4:10). Also, restroom is currently closed.

Any indoor seating yet (3 January 2022)?

I saw two people eating inside a couple of weeks ago but I always order takeout myself.

I called today, and they indicated they want masks before you enter the store (I understand, no problem. I'm not a maskhole) but can someone explain to me why this establishment has not resumed in-door dining after we have completed the tier system?

My best guess is because these are uncertain times and they are being cautious -- and here comes the Delta variant to scare us all again!

Why aren't they open? Don't want to lose this place but haven't been able to get through since the shut down

    They re-opened today. Take-out only. New hours 11-7:30pm M-Sat

    Does this place do catering?

    Sorry I don't know!

Is there a menu? Then we could call and order

They also love the chicken fingers, the fries are phenomenal and the chocolate lava cake is a must. As for my husband and I, he says the French dip sandwich is the best he's had in his life. And he is a French dip connoisseur! He's tried all the regular L.A staples--Philippe's, Cole's, etc.... But he says nothing compares to The Proper. Their burger is also wonderful. My only complaint about The Proper is that I hate the parking lot. It's very tight and people don't pull up far enough. But that's a small price to pay for this wonderful local gem.

Overall, we had a pleasant experience, but we ultimately left feeling that the prices just didn't match the overall value. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere. The décor is modern, clean, and thoughtfully designed, making it feel much more inviting than you might expect from a restaurant located in a strip mall. It has a comfortable, upscale vibe that makes for a nice dinner setting. The only downside was that we were seated directly underneath an air conditioning vent, which made it uncomfortably cold throughout our meal. For dinner, I ordered the short rib sandwich, and my wife had the three-taco plate, which included chips and tortilla soup. We didn't order any appetizers, desserts, or alcoholic beverages--just our entrées. After tax and tip, our total came to over $80. I completely understand that restaurant prices have increased over the past few years, and I'm willing to pay more for a great meal and experience. However, this felt like pricing I'd expect from a high-end standalone restaurant rather than a casual neighborhood spot. To be fair, the food was good. Everything was well prepared, flavorful, and enjoyable. I don't think the issue is the quality of the food--it's simply the value. While we enjoyed our meal, nothing stood out enough to justify the premium pricing, especially considering there are many other restaurants nearby offering similar quality at a lower price point. I'm glad we gave it a try, and I can see why people enjoy the ambiance and atmosphere. Unfortunately, the overall value just wasn't there for us, and because of that, I don't think we'll be returning.

When making our reservation, I even requested a scenic table since we didn't have one the first time. The evening started exactly as we had hoped. We were warmly welcomed, seated with a beautiful view, and our server got us off to a good start. Unfortunately, once the restaurant became busier, the experience changed. One of the main reasons I returned was for the Tomahawk steak, only to find out they had already sold out. I ordered the Steak Progressive instead, which was good, but it wasn't what I had been looking forward to. As dinner went on, our table seemed to disappear from our server's radar. We placed our order before the dinner rush, yet several tables seated after us--including the couple next to us celebrating a special occasion--received their meals, finished eating, and left before we did. We weren't ordering anything unusual, so the delay was frustrating, especially while neighboring tables received much more attentive service. Another frustrating moment involved the patio umbrella. The sun was directly in my face, and when we asked if it could be adjusted, we were told it didn't tilt. After several minutes of using our menus for shade, another team member walked over and adjusted it in seconds. It was disappointing to learn it could be moved after all. By then, the mood had shifted. Instead of enjoying our celebration, we were ready to box up our food and head home. Before leaving, I spoke with Yesenia, one of the managers. He genuinely listened and asked what Castaway could do better. My answer was simple: I don't want another couple celebrating a special occasion to leave feeling the way we did. The view is incredible, but people remember how they're treated just as much as what they're served. To their credit, the restaurant removed two appetizers from our bill and offered us a complimentary dessert. We appreciated the gesture, but it missed the point. The cost was never the issue. We happily pay for great food, exceptional service, and leave generous tips when it's deserved. We declined the dessert because we were simply ready to leave, and even its presentation felt rushed. The reason I'm giving three stars instead of one or two is because I know what Castaway is capable of. Our first visit was outstanding, which made this experience all the more disappointing. As my spouse said afterward, "This experience won't necessarily stop us from coming back because we know what Castaway is capable of." I agree. I'm sharing this review in the hope that future guests celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and other milestones receive the level of hospitality that made us fall in love with Castaway the first time. I'm hopeful our next visit reflects that experience once again.

    - Broken Compass Tiki…read more My girlfriend and I absolutely loved Broken Compass Tiki. I originally found it on TikTok, followed up with a few YouTube videos, and knew I had to check it out the next time we were in Burbank. It completely lived up to the hype. Parking can be a little challenging since it's in Burbank, but we got lucky and found a street parking spot nearby. If you don't get as lucky, driving around the block or into the surrounding neighborhood should eventually turn something up. We arrived about 20 minutes after they opened, and there were already several people inside. By the time we left, the place was filling up quickly, so it's definitely a popular spot. I surprised my girlfriend by keeping the destination a secret and just telling her we were going somewhere fun with a unique theme. She loved it. From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding. Both the bartender and our server were incredibly welcoming. Our server asked whether it was our first visit and took the time to ask what kinds of drinks we normally enjoy before making recommendations. I really appreciated that he wasn't just trying to upsell us. Instead, he explained why he thought certain cocktails were better choices based on our preferences, and every recommendation ended up being spot on. As you'd expect from a tiki bar, the cocktail menu is heavily rum-focused, but there are also non-alcoholic drinks, a small beer selection, and wine available if rum isn't your thing. I ordered the Zombie Magic first, which was delicious and definitely packed a punch. After that, I tried the 100 Year Cigar, a Scotch-based cocktail that was perfect for slowly sipping. Both drinks were fantastic. My girlfriend ordered the Painkiller and the Navy Grog, and she loved both of them. We started with the Shut It Polly wings, crispy chicken wings tossed in a spicy Thai peanut sauce, and they were outstanding. We also ordered the Aloha Dippers with the Cajun seasoning. I paired mine with the Chipotle Citrus Aioli, while my girlfriend chose the Firecracker sauce. Both dipping sauces were excellent and complemented the fries really well. For our entrées, I ordered the Pub Burger with Irish cheddar, onion strings, and horseradish aioli, cooked to order. It was excellent. My girlfriend ordered the Shrimp & Lobster Roll, and we both enjoyed it. The only item that didn't quite meet our expectations was the macaroni salad that came with our meals. We've had some incredible macaroni salad at Hawaiian restaurants, and this one just didn't quite compare. It certainly wasn't bad, but it was the one part of the meal that didn't stand out. One thing that really impressed me was how accommodating the staff was regarding my raw fruit allergy. I explained what I could and couldn't safely eat or drink, and our server took it seriously. He made sure every cocktail recommendation was safe for me without sacrificing flavor or experience. That level of attention made me feel comfortable ordering drinks I otherwise might have avoided. The décor is also worth mentioning. The pirate-themed exterior transitions into a fun pirate-and-tiki atmosphere inside that really adds to the experience without feeling overdone. Overall, this place exceeded our expectations. The drinks were strong and creative, the food was excellent, the service was some of the best we've had in a long time, and the atmosphere was a blast. There are still plenty of cocktails on the menu that I'd like to try, so we'll definitely be back the next time we're in Burbank.

You couldn't escape the theme anyway and I loved it! We were gathering for a friends birthday and there was 30 of us. Couldn't believe we found enough seats for us in the back area but we did. The staff was there to keep drinks flowing and keep food coming. The portion for their poke nachos was unreal. Do i wish they put a bit more poke on the dish? Yes. But it was still one of my favorite dishes of the night. The drinks were all so cute and they had ample non alcoholic mocktails as well which were yummy. If you want a speakeasy feel (you lieterally go through a secret door in the wall) and an under the sea eperience while ctching up with friends, you can totally do it here. For my friends birthday they rang some bell and all sang happy birthday to her which was so cool. Why was the bathroom the coolest part? They literally have ocean sounds and seaguls for you to hear while using the restroom. Theres even a fan in the bathroom to make you feel like you're next to the ocean because I kept fighting that darn toilet seat cover to stay put. Such a fun night and will be back for the vibes. Special s/o to Amanda and all her crew the night we were there. They helped out with photos, drinks, and keeping food going all night. She had such a great team with her that night.
