I feel as though there has been a lot of changes on Lake Ave. but I'm happy to see corner bakery still remains. Not a fan of sub/sandwich places such as Quiznos or Subway, corner bakery is a step up for me where I can always get a good quick meal. My go-to favorite continues to be the trio salad (DC chicken salad-sometimes two orders of this-with various others, complete with field greens and really good bread), or the corner combo with half of a DC chicken salad sandwich, baked potato soup, and chips. I sometimes switch this up with Mom's turkey sandwich or chicken soup, but they've all been enjoyable. Only items I've never favored are their coffee and pastries, oddly since I generally enjoy these items elsewhere. Corner Bakery-for me-has been consistent regardless of which location I end up, and I'm glad to say I have a reliable place for good food wherever I may find myself, be it South Coast to Burbank. I've enjoyed their food back east and am happy to have it out here as well. read more

After working out at 24 Hour Fitness, we ate lunch at Corner Bakery. I was in the mood for a salad and the Chopped Salad ($6.99) hit the spot. From the Corner Bakery website: Oven-roasted chicken, crisp applewood smoked bacon, avocado, bleu cheese, tomatoes, and green onions tossed with iceberg and romaine lettuce in our sweet and spicy house vinaigrette. I normally change the dressing to balsamic vinaigrette. The salad also comes with a roll. My friend had the Baked French Toast ($5.69) - A sweet morning treat of our cinnamon raisin bread baked in a vanilla French custard and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Served with our homemade vanilla syrup, applewood smoked bacon, and a side of fresh fruit medley. That dish is also very good. The hubby and I stopped by here for a lunch a few Saturdays ago. I love outdoor seating when it's nice out and they're available. While sitting outside, though, the wind picked up and people's leftover wrappers and napkins started falling on the ground. I feel like people should take their trash inside when they're done, but maybe the employees should also make a better attempt at picking that stuff up at the same time. It was the same issue inside... napkins on the floor... and the women's restroom was awful, but I noticed I went into it right after a woman and two small boys finished using it. There was trash everywhere--ugh! Hence, my 3-star rating. The service at the counter and food was more like 4 stars. I got the Spinach Sweet Crisp Salad. It comes with "freshly sliced strawberries, oranges, red grapes, dried cranberries, green onions, creamy goat cheese and raisin pecan sweet crisps, drizzled with [their] homemade pomegranate vinaigrette." On the side was a small, crunchy breadstick (I didn't like it). The salad was fresh and very tasty. My hubby had a small bowl of chili and a small bowl of mac and three cheese. While he said everything tasted good, he hoped the chili was a bit hotter (not spicy, but heat wise). The old fashioned lemonade was decent. Parking is so important to me when in this area of Pasadena! This location has a really cute seating area outside. It's probably one of my more favorite locations for a corner bakery. read more

I really wish I worked closer to Corner Bakery, because I think they do a great job with their food. The employees here are always friendly. The patio in summer can get crowded, but I like that they have water bowls for dogs, and most people seem to bring pretty well-behaved dogs. My favorite is a half ruben panini with caesar salad. But honestly, I don't think there is a bad thing on the menu. (Perhaps I am saved from my own order-the-worst-thing tendencies.) Breakfast here is also a solid choice, if you don't have time for a fancy place but want something better than McDonald's. They even serve breakfast past noon on the weekends, if you wake up late and insist on having eggs when everyone is having a sandwich. *Points to Mrs. C* Have you tried the black currant iced tea? I really like C. bakery! I especially love their coffee! They have that espresso that will wake you up! O_o lord knows I need that like every morning. I came here and ordered 2 of their chicken sandwiches with a side of pasta. Instead I got it with chips. No biggie, they were swamped anyway. I went to the side and the girl who had taken my order, I believe was the manager just looked at me and continued taking another customers order. Turns out that customer was beginning an order for catering. Ughhh! I waited as my mom told me to never interrupt. I wish I wasn't raised like that because 10 minutes and I just stood there off to the side. I was about to say something to her and I know she saw me, but she just kept working with another customer. If you're the manager you should send somebody else to come help at the side with a to go order. 20 minutes later after I got back in line all she did was say sorry and charge me extra for the items to the chips back that I had dropped, oops and she just said sorry. Well that didn't help that my sandwich was soggy and falling apart by the time I tried eating it. Super waste of my time. I used to come here until we found out there was a Corner Bakery closer to me. Now we go to the one in Hastings Ranch, but not because we don't like this location. I love the outdoor seating of this location. It takes up most of the courtyard. =] The food is good. I love coming for their breakfast. I like the Farmer's Scrambler and the Anaheim Scrambler. I love their potatoes they put on the side. They also have a good Chicken Pomodori Panini. If you like pastas, you'll have to try the Pesto Cavatoppi. read more

I'll have to say that it's been awhile since I've been to Corner Bakery Cafe. As a carb lover, I find that surprising. This location is on Lake Ave in Pasadena, located nearby to a FREE parking garage! Let me say that again: FREE. In Pasadena. I found myself searching fervently for the fine print on that one, but no, it is and was free. In South Pasadena. I mean, whoa! Anyway, the parking garage is for Macy's, Border's, and a whole slew of other stores, but look hard enough and you'll find parking on one of the levels....for free! Anyway, this Corner Bakery has a giant outdoor patio area, a medium sized indoor area, and plenty of food options. I had the old fashioned oatmeal, which may seem plain and boring (which is what my waistline and me where going for), but it was delicious! They also have every sandwich and panini and soup you could ever want, so tasty that you may pass out from pure delight. And...next to the drink station, they have lemon wedges, sugar packets of every kind, jam, butter packets, and probably some other stuff I missed! It's all free and for the placing on your meal! Wow! You mean I don't have to beg for all my favorite condiments or be charged extra if I want more than two?! If you eat indoors, you are given a number, can sit down (rather than simply joining a mob of people and waiting for your order) and put your number up. A waiter or waitresses comes by to drop off your meal once they see your number, and after you finish your meal, they come by to collect your tray and plate. The cashier accidentally forgot to give me my number when I first ordered, but I had barely finished filling up my cup for water when the waiter called my number and gave me my order. Later, the cashier came by and apologized for not giving me my number. Um...excellent! It wasn't even five minutes before I received my order. So, I can be hungry, order my food, and it's prompt! Yes! My stomach is happy. :-) I've been to a few Corner Bakery's and this is definitely my favorite location. Service has been excellent here and the food is delicious! Over all the food here was delicious! My boyfriend just wish his roast beef was cooked a lot more, (warning to those who like it well done)! I was really pleasantly surprised by this location. It's super convenient with free parking! I love the location. This location was busy but the line was short. The food came out in about 10 minutes. I love this place! This location made me want to come back. I ordered the breakfast scramble. It was delicious. The meal came with wheat toast and some of the best potatoes I have had at ANY restaurant! I can't wait to come back here and try to the lunch. All the sandwiches looked amazing! I dont mean to be mean...but if your hours say you're open until 7:30, you're open until 7:30 unless your owner has some werid policy as most places are equpped for a 15 to 30 minute closing period after closing hours. My partner and I were there to get a coffee and be on our merry way, no food, no baked goods, which is the polite thing if you know some place is closed soon. I came here for lunch and got the 1/2 sandwich and soup combo for $8.99. I ordered the Chicken pesto sandwich and the chicken noodle soup. The sandwich came with a pickle and a bag of chips. Honestly, the sandwich was the best part of my meal. It tasted great and it was really easy to eat. However, it was tiny. The 1/2 sandwich is maybe like 5 big bites worth...so it was not filling at all. As for the soup, it was just meh. I thought it tasted like campbell's chicken soup from a can. Nothing special here. The portion was kinda small too. Overall, the meal wasn't that filling and it cost $10 with tax and it was without a drink. If I had to come back, I'd probably just get the whole chicken pesto sandwich without the soup. Very disappointed with my order yesterday. I ordered online so maybe that was part of the problem. I had the chicken pomodero panini sandwich and Cobb salad. The sandwich itself was fine. I remember they use to give you a separate bag of chips with the order. I got the chips in a cup and it must have been the bottom of their bag because they were all small pieces. The Cobb salad was a disaster. No bacon!!! How do you miss putting bacon in a Cobb? I didn't want bleu cheese but sub it with mozzarella instead. It came with NO cheese. It was a very sad salad. Located in the heart of Pasadena. This lovely 1200 sqft restaurant calms my nerves in a cold day. Go for the panini/soup combo. I recommend the tortilla soup and choose any panini they're all pretty good. If there's sun out (which there is in Pasadena 300 days out of the year) sit outside! After a nice long hike up Echo Mountain me and some friends decided to eat here for lunch. Prices here are a little bit more than average for sandwiches, but it was filling. The best part of this place was they had excellent service. I brought my dog with me and when she was laying there one of the workers brought her a bowl of water, which i thought was really nice. This place is all hustle and bustle. It's always packed, but that doesn't keep me from enjoying this spot. The staff is great, and despite the crowds of people, they are pretty good at getting your food to you without too much of a wait. I have the most difficult time choosing what to order every time. Everything always looks so delicious. I usually go with the farmer's scramble or the oatmeal for breakfast, it's delicious. I usually have difficulty when placing my order because their baked goods tempt you while you're ordering. I can never resist the temptation, and find myself ordering 1-2 sweet treats as well. This place has gone south. I had the urge for chili that day and ordered a bowl. Bad idea. What came out was a chili paste. Not soup. It was probably made in the morning left to slowly boil all day long leaving nothing but evaporated chili paste. Yuk! The sandwich I ordered came out with dry and wilted lettuce also. Corner Breakfast Combo ($6.59) I got this with the Commuter Croissant with a side of potatoes. The croissant is nice and flaky. The entire sandwich itself was great. The side of potatoes were just okay though. They also have a variety of different sandwiches. All which are great in its own way.
