So I'd suggest going during slow times and get a table before hand if you can! It was a 25 minute wait for two. There are glass windows where you can watch the chefs make handmade noodles from scratch. They also offer a variety of drinks, such as bubble tea. I ordered the stir fry noodles with chicken and asked them to make it spicy and they delivered. The sauces used in the dish added depth to the dish and the veggies also complimented the noodles pretty well. One thing I love about this place is that it's super customizable. We had the most amazing meal here last night! Getting on the waitlist was easy, while it was a 40 min wait, it was well worth the wait. A little planning and walk downtown is a quick solve. Now for the food - we ordered spinach submerged dumplings (steamed and fried), beans, sesame chicken and sichuan chicken wings and kimchi rice. Everything was delicious and better than the other. We could not pick one favorite. The quantity was generous. The service is very fast and efficient! The staff was super nice! The ambiance was very nice and bubbly!! It's a solid 4 stars for dependable Chinese food. It We've had many dishes and bubble teas over the years and it's always been "decent" but never been mind blowing amazing. However, on the plus side it's always a good time here with good service and good value. So overall, we continue to come because it's just very dependable and a staple. I think the hand pulled noodles can be a tad more "al dente". Their dumplings are more doughy than I'd prefer. My go-to is their boiled fish - it's not an explosion or nearly as complex or concentrated of flavors than other places but it's pretty darn good so I always have to get it. Service is great! As a vegetarian, I actually had many options which is super nice (and rare). Staff was kind and assured me of which items were veg-friendly. I was happy with the food and it was very filling. My friends and I stopped by Corner for lunch on Tuesday during Thanksgiving week, and it was pretty crowded and busy. We waited for around an hour or so before we were seated and decided to each order our own dishes. I ultimately decided on the Corner 17 hong shao pork, which is usually my go-to here. My friends got the tomato egg and Hunan stir fried tofu. I personally love the combination of tender pork belly and flavorful potatoes that my dish has and I like to add some chili oil into it at the table too. My friends were largely satisfied with their dishes but one of them said the Hunan tofu was nothing super special and she'd likely order something else next time. The restaurant was pretty busy inside but it wasn't so noisy that we couldn't hear each other. Our meals came out to around $17-18, which is a little pricey but on par for most restaurants nowadays. Overall I'll definitely be back and will likely order the same thing again next time! read more

We visited STL for one night and our friends brought us here for dinner! They described it as the perfect blend of Americanized and traditional Chinese food and I'd definitely have to agree - there's something for everyone here! The traditional isn't the *most* traditional, but it comes close and - at least for me - scratches the itch of perpetually missing traditional Chinese cuisine! The service is so friendly AND fast and Corner 17 is definitely super popular! We saw so many customers come through here and given that it's located close to WashU's campus, it's definitely a hotbed of students as well - dining in and getting food to-go! It's so nice and convenient because they clearly have a super streamlined way to organize all their carryout orders and there's a separate section to the restaurant that is a little boba cafe as well if you're just stopping in for some boba! All the food was very solid, my group and I shared scallion pancakes and the steamed buns with Hoisin sauce pork! There were 8 buns that came with the pork so it was perfect that each of us got 2 buns each! For my personal meal, I ordered the beef-tripe hand pulled noodles and that was very delicious!! The broth was a bit simple and not as spiced or flavorful as I've come to expect, but I LOVE the noodles that you can clearly see are hand pulled in the display kitchen that looks out on the restaurant!! We also got one of the mango shaved ice desserts and it was the most massive thing ever! We did not finish it, but it had that delicious CLOUD texture that reminds me so much of Asia and it was absolutely lovely! On a Sunday afternoon at 5pm, we were seated after 10 mins. Upon walking in, a noodle master was putting off an entertaining hand-pulled noodles show. That gives us a good idea to try their freshly pulled noodles. We were excited after reviewing their wide menu with pictures. Service is fast with frequent water re-filling. Here are our recommendations of the food I have tried: * The pan fried chicken mushroom potstickers are the "must-have". You can taste the juicy ingredients inside the skin. * For vegetarians, we love the veggie tofu delight. It has really great flavor with a good mix of vegetables. I recently returned to Corner 17 after having left St. Louis for a few years, and I must say, the consistency in quality has been impressive, and the new additions to the menu are exciting! Ambiance: Very casual restaurant with most of the restaurant dedicated to dining-in service, a separate section for take-out, and one area solely for bubble tea. Great for Service: Friendly, and quick service once you have ordered food. However, note that the wait times here on weekend nights can be quiet long, often 1-1.5 hours even for a group of 2 people. Even on Monday lunch time, there was a brief wait of 5-10 minutes. Otherwise, friendly staff, and helpful for guidance on vegetarian items. Food: Their noodles are incredible, but I have a soft spot for one particular non-noodle dish that I have been getting for years: -Hunan sauce tofu: Firm tofu that is fried for a great texture alongside some well-cooked broccoli, carrots, and mushrooms. These are all served with a delicious hunan sauce with the right amount of spiciness and flavor to the dish, without overpowering the taste of each individual element. Served with white rice. -Veggie bao: These are new compared to a few years ago, and they are delicious! The outside of the veggie bao was fluffy, soft and warm with a wonderful mix of fresh vegetables inside -- a perfect complement to the meal! Corner 17 has always been one of my favorite restaurants in St. Louis, and I'm happy to know it has continued to serve delicious Chinese food over the years. read more

I will definitely go back and ask for her so she can help me navigate safe options and try the food for real!** The front desk staff was nice and I pre-asked about vegetarian and gluten free options. They led me to the cucumbers for an appetizer. I mentioned again vegetarian and gluten free for the entree and was guided to the Mala soup bowl choosing rice noodles only and veggies. I ordered both of these as the only other option I was told would be fried rice without any sauce. When we were seated I explained the gluten free and vegetarian needs to the waitress and she seemed ok with this request. When I told her what I was considering ordering based off the recommendation, she said that should work for me. When it came out it wasn't vegetarian at all. We were nervous for me to eat it because we were unsure if it would be safe for my allergies. The cucumbers were ok. And my friend said their Three Cup Chicken was tasty. Both were very large portions. Our waitress didn't really check in with us and when she did briefly stop by I said I must have chosen poorly because I won't be able to eat this. She brought a container for my friend's meal and gave us the bill. My soup was included. She had never offered me something else or asked what wasn't working for me or what she could do l, which is disappointing. If you are vegan, vegetarian, celiac or have allergies, I would just be aware that the staff isn't educated on these things.
