Called Cornell Roofing on a rainy, windy night when my husband came home home from work to find a leak in our kitchen ceiling. I called the office the next day and the customer service representative was courteous and sympathetic to our predicament. She advised that she would get out an installer later on in the afternoon and he would call before coming over. I advised her of my sporadic schedule with my five year old and she was understanding and accommodating. The representative that they sent out was Steve. Steve was prompt and articulate. He explained what they were going to do and look at, and advised me that if possible they would be able to repair my roof today. True to his word he diagnosed the problem and fixed it promptly. He looked at my roof as a whole and advised me of one thing that he recommended I complete promptly to preserve the longevity of the roof. When he spoke to me he was calm, thoughtful and resourceful as to how to fix the immediate problem as well as the long term goal of preserving the roof. He had an action plan in mind and advised me that a representative will be in touch to schedule the follow up work. He remained patient and kind but knowledgeable of his work and what he thought needed to be done in a timely manner. I wouldn't say I am a hypercritical customer in general. However, I do have high expectations for myself and extend the same to others. As a representative for Cornell Roofing, Steve met these expectations with ease. He was both articulate and sure of his assessment but also kind and empathetic of large financial investments like needing to replace a whole roof. I called Cornell to inspect a roof that had an obvious leak. I was not expecting anyone to even pickup the phone considering it was after the first major storm of 2017. She told me I'd get a phone call the following Tuesday. Sure enough, inspector showed, found the problem, and agreed to fix it for a more than fair price within the week. I think most roofing companies are greedy (much like termite/pest companies). Most I've dealt with always want to put on an entirely new roof. It is the afternoon before Thanksgiving Day... we had Cornell do our roof last Feb and today we have a small leak... within 1HOUR they were here after we called ! I'm amazed ... they were friendly, cheerful (I sure wouldn't be) as they got up on the roof in a deluge and fixed it !! They were happy guys with big smiles so someone is treating them right ! Wow! Just got off the phone with this company and I don't think the woman could have been any more rude! Cornell Roofing did the inspection at our home in October and found no issues or leaks, etc and now we have a leak! In all fairness, I don't think leaks can be found during an inspection or without the rain so I don't blame Cornell for not seeing this at all. However, I called to inquire as to what the process would be to get someone from their company out to look at this and help us get it fixed and the response I got from this very abrupt woman was, "what do you mean you are not sure how to go about this, you called me". Really? Rather than continue with this woman, I simply let her know I will move onto another company and her response was, "please do". WOW! If I knew about roofing and what needed to be done, I guess she might have thought about helping me. Then again, isn't that her job as first on phones? I guess when you work with Cornell Roofing, you need to know exactly what needs to be done, where it is to be done and how you want it done before this woman will even entertain the idea of assisting you and getting an appointment. read more

After some disappointing calls to other roofers who either could not or would not work in a small repair, I was thrilled to find a responsive roofer in Cornell, a longstanding local family business. Ron from Cornell came when promised to check out the problem with our chimney flashing that was indicated in a recent pest inspection. He determined that repairs could be made without any new construction, pointed out we had several years left in the roof, and also noted the exceedingly long run of a rain gutter that really needed another downspout. The latter is something we knew of but hadn't addressed. Being that we were a smaller fill-in job, we had to wait several weeks for an optimal time for them to work us in. However, we now knew that it was not an emergency. Ron and Tyler of Cornell came to do the repair and were friendly, respectful, informative, and efficient. Ron showed me photographs of the area around the chimney requiring repair and carefully explained to me what they had to do. When I asked Ron if I could paint the downspout to more closely match the house, he offered to do so if I had leftover paint. I did and he did. When it comes time in a few years for a new roof I know who I'll call first. read more

We were so happy with the service we received from this local, long-term, family owned business! Clint and his team were always super responsive, reliable, and easy to work with. Their quote to reroof our whole house was significantly less than what was quoted by multiple other companies, they were very transparent about pricing and fully explained why he would use the materials/procedure he proposed for our specific home/(semi-flat) roof based on years of experience. In addition to needing a new roof, we also desperately needed a layer of insulation under it, to keep our home (with lofted ceilings/no attic) comfortable (even with the A/C running constantly) in the hot summer weather here. We couldn't be happier with the outcome! Even by day 1 of the job, with just the insulation down, but not the complete roofing surface, it was amazingly comfortable inside our home on a close to 100 degree day! On the flip side, remarkably, Cornell's team showed up 3 days in a row (as expected/scheduled), with a large hard-working crew, in 90+ degree heat (not to mention in the direct sun on our rooftop, with melting hot roofing materials...), to complete the job on time, and 100% on budget, as more than reasonably quoted to us originally! We called Cornell this morning about a rain gutter repair. The gutter had come away from the house. Ronnie came out right away, checked out the problem, and gave us a minimum hourly rate estimate. We told him to go for it and he started immediately. The job looks great. We're looking at a new roof next summer but this repair will get us through to then even with El Nino. I called a few roofing companies to give me a bid on my Motel And Cornell was the 3rd bid and I am so glad I got three because the other two that came out not only gave me a bid almost double Cornell's but It felt like they were just out to gouge me and really didn't know what they were talking about when it came to my type of roofs and all the repairs I needed. As I tell every company, they write their own Yelp review, I just put it into words and post it. My experience with Cornell Roofing began on Monday April 4th when I called the office to schedule an appointment for a free estimate! The President, Clint, showed up the very next morning, within the hour window I was given. He spent time explaining the process, as well as climbing up on to the roof to take measurements and make suggestions on other improvements. (Another vent on the roof was recommended!) He left me with a sample board of shingles and said I'd have a quote in my email by Friday. Friday came and my quote arrived. It was within the ballpark I had in my head, but I felt the need to do my due diligence and get 2 other quotes because this was my first time ever getting a new roof. While all 3 quotes were within $400 of each other, there was just something about Cornell and my gut was telling me that was the right choice. I scheduled a date and Clint's crew was right on time and eager to get to work. Even with rain in the forecast these guys got after it, prepared for everything! They worked a full day the first day and got in 2 1/2 hours the following day before the rains took over. They completely tarped my roof off and said that if I noticed any leaks in the house to call and someone would immediately come over. Luckily they battened down the hatches well and that didn't happen. They came back on Monday and finished the job! Upon my own little inspection, I noticed one of the eaves on the back porch, they spliced a piece of 2x4 and put it back in place with screws. The wood split and wasn't acceptable in my eye. I took a couple of pix on my phone and emailed them to Clint that evening explaining my dissatisfaction. The next day I heard one of the crew on the phone with Clint who was explaining the issue with the 2x4. Instead of cutting it and re-splicing, they replaced the entire piece and apologized for having had that issue in the first place. The crew worked their asses off. They were always on time, polite and professional, and they did a really nice of job cleaning up after themselves at the end of the day! I couldn't be happier and will definitely use them again in the future and recommend you do too! read more
