We checked in at night to HOT APPLE CIDER & freshly made peanut butter cookies!! Amazing right off the bat. Everyone who works there is so nice and friendly. AND they give you a log for the fireplace in each room every day you're there. We got a great rate off a groupon we bought the night before we decided to make this impromptu trip. Then the next morning we wake up to a breakfast buffet of frittatas, sausage, pastries, and more! That breakfast made up for the mattress and pillows which were both a bit hard and not super comfy. They also have a pond, a small waterfall going into it, free wifi, and a small bar area that's open until 10pm. Definitely staying here again on our next trip up to the Bershires. Less than 10 min from Bousquet mountain and a 5 min walk to center of Lenox. We stayed on the second floor of the MacDonald house and had no problems with outside noise. A friend had chosen the Cornell inn for a quick 2 night girls get away trip. We both chose rooms in the MacDonald house, the Nancy and Mamie. Nancy was a bright nice size room, second floor facing the gardens. It has a small refrigerator in the room, however it was blowing out hot air. We did inform the care takers on our departure, so hopefully they address the issue. Mamie is a 2 room, 2 bath suite. The decor is more masculine, and woodsy feeling, which I personally enjoy. The wifi does not reach to this room. Which was fine, it gave me a reason to shut down for a while and just relax. Both rooms were clean and decorated nicely. The breakfast buffet each morning was very good. If you do not like what they have, the cook will make you whatever you request. The small bar and dinner options are only available on the weekends. They have just recently painted some areas and are continuing that project. There are a few small area they could improve on in maintenance on the grounds. However, in saying that the price you are paying is not that of a five star resort. The value for the money is very good. I would return for another's visit. read more

After more than 40 years away, returned to Lenox for two terrific evening concerts at Tanglewood. Cornell Inn was a beautiful, comfortable choice for us. The Mary Todd room was at the back of the 1777 house and had everything we could have desired including a good bed. The Main Street traffic noise was avoided as well. The all-day delicious coffee, tea and chocolate chip cookies were appreciated. Ample breakfast on the deck outside in the lovely summer weather started our days out right. We also visited the impressive Clark Art Museum for the first time. Fine Lenox and Lee restaurants were minutes away by car. Chez Nous was as good as any Paris restaurant we've experienced. Tim and Nell were gracious hosts, and promptly mailed my favorite leather belt which I'd left in the room back to me. read more

During our recent three-night stay, The Cornell Inn proved to be a comfortable, reasonably priced, and exceptionally hospitable base of operations for sightseeing and recreational activities around Lenox and the Berkshires. The Inn's patient and attentive owners, Nell and Tim, pampered us with outstanding customer service, and without hesitation we would opt to lodge here again. We stayed in the dark, spacious, and private Frances room, which, though located directly above the kitchen and dining area, was remarkably disturbance-free, except for the morning aromas of breakfast preparation. The room's king-sized bed was pleasantly firm and conducive to a great night's sleep. The Inn's selection of breakfast offerings, including homemade frittatas and pancakes which changed daily, was outstanding. Guests were welcome to linger over breakfast either inside or outside on the tree-lined deck, yet there was always sufficient seating for new arrivals. Thoughtful extras at The Cornell Inn included an assortment of indulgent baked goods that greeted guests at all hours, whether returning in the afternoon after a day on Mt. Greylock or much later in the evening after a performance at Tanglewood. read more

Three of us went to Lenox for a two-person shared birthday in December. The high point was to be dinner at the extraordinary Nudel. It, as always lived up to expectations. What we didn't expect was the wonderful time we spent at the Cornell Inn. We took three rooms in the Main building: Barbara, Caroline, and I was upgraded to the great party-central Frances. The rooms were all one could hope for, even in other, far pricier Inns. The photos are a good representation but don't adequately convey the size. I only regret that, as one of our members had an early work day, we did not have breakfast - just some excellent coffee. I'll be back again over the New Year weekend. read more

We only stayed one night but still enjoyed reading in the cozy living room and a delicious hot breakfast - the traditional pancakes, home fries, and maple apple crisp were only three of the freshly cooked options. The owner went out of his way to be accommodating and hospitable. You got the feeling that anything you needed they would get for you. It is very close to downtown (restaurants), and local attractions like the Norman Rockwell museum and National Shrine of the Divine Mercy are a short drive away. The grounds have a pretty fish pond and lots of chairs for enjoying time outside in warmer weather. Although there is a road on one side, the woods behind the property still create a rural ambiance. The room was clean and charmingly decorated. The jacuzzi tub in the bathroom was also a plus! read more

Clean comfortable historic and inviting. Our stay in a 17th Century house was like walking back in time and yet the conveniences were impeccably modern. Nell and Tim, the proprietors, were amazingly helpful, welcoming, and warm. A lovely fish pond and waterfall added to the tranquil atmosphere. The food was delicious. Comfortable, clean, cozy, quiet, nicely decorated accommodations in the beautiful Berkshire Mountains. Proprietors Nell and Tim went out of their way to welcome us and show us around. We had a room in the small house from the 1700's. Room was fresh and inviting. Large comfortable bed, cable TV, modern bathroom, great linens and blankets for a cool Berkshire night. For breakfast we chose from a large variety of made-to-order dishes. Pancakes were fluffy and delicious with just a hint of sweetness. My partner's eggs were perfectly cooked. A variety of fresh fruits, juices, muffins, tea and coffee were also available. There is a serene outdoor space with a waterfall and fish pond. Perfect for a quiet moment. When we had to leave Tim kindly drove us to the bus stop in Lenox. This was exceptional and unexpected. But what happened after was really special. He returned to the bus stop to give us a forgotten umbrella. An act of kindness which we will not forget. read more

Just got back from a very lovely, relaxing weekend at this charming, cozy inn. Tim and his staff made us feel welcome and at home; the inn and rooms (ours had a really comfortable four-poster bed and a fireplace) were beautifully decorated and super clean, with lots of quaint period details. The grounds were also carefully maintained, with a nice pond and waterfall out back. The breakfasts were huge and delicious, plus homemade cookies, muffins, tea, and coffee all day for guests. Some really nice restaurants very nearby, including Firefly (with great live music) and Zinc. Very idyllic....would definitely go back : ) read more

We rented out the Cornell Inn for our wedding and hosted two events there for our guests. Tim and Nell were awesome with both planning the event and showing our guests a great time throughout the weekend. The Cornell Inn ended up being the homebase for our wedding guests which worked out perfectly. The property is super cute with plenty of outdoor areas for our guests to hang out. If you do have the opportunity to stay at the Cornell Inn, make sure you don't skip the breakfast, it's amazing! read more

My wife and I spent a thoroughly enjoyable two night visit and Tim was the perfect host. He helped us get dinner reservations at a popular dinner spot (Alta), which was sensational. He made sure that all our needs were addressed. And his team prepared delicious and distinctive breakfast fare every day we were there. Lovely people. Bucolic setting. My girlfriend and I wanted to get away for a few days in April, we love the area so we looked up Inns up there and The Cornell Inn seemed perfect. We called and made reservations for 2 rooms for 3 nights and we had to pay in FULL ahead of time. WE thought nothing of it, now we know that's something you should never do. ESPECIALLY with this Inn. The night before our little trip she was called by someone from the Inn telling us they were sorry but they had to cancel our stay as a family member had passed away, and they would refund our payment immediately. We continued on our journey and went to The Chamber of Commerce and they set us up with a great place. Weeks after one rooms money was returned, but not the second room, we called, sent registered letters and no money... She made a complaint to Better Business Bureau and was going back up there to file a complaint with the local courthouse, she called The gentleman in The Chamber of Commerce and he said the Inn did not belong to The Chamber, we has since learned it is something one should check out before making a reservation, check to see if they are with The local Chamber of Commerce. She then actually called the police department and the officer said he would go over and talk to them. He did and he said the owner was not very hospitable but that her account would be credited that night. She then called the Inn and the owner got on the phone, VERY PISSED !!!! told her " you didn't have to send your friend after your money. Her account was credited finally after 2 full months of horror. We were also told many other horror stories. read more

We were pleasantly surprised to find an affordable place to stay in lenox during tanglewood season. We stayed at the Cornell Inn this weekend for Prairie Home Companion show and everyone was very pleasant at the inn. The grounds are very pretty and the inn is very quaint. The room was lovely and it was quiet. The breakfast was very good and the kitchen staff went out of their way to make us a special breakfast. It was very peaceful sitting outside having breakfast on the tri-level patio. The highlight of breakfast was visiting with the manager's basset hound. The inn is close to all major attractions in the greater lenox area. We will definitely stay there again! read more

The Cornell Inn offers lovely grounds, with a private garden in the back to enjoy your breakfast. The breakfasts were very good with a wide variety of dishes. Everything was fresh and yummy. The rooms are comfortable with a large bed and nice bathroom. The hosts for the B & B were so very gracious and helpful that our stay there over a long weekend went very well. The Inn is close to Lenox restaurants and shops and near Tanglewood. This is a place to stay and relax if you don't want to do the touristy things in the area. Or you hang out at the small bar area and share stories with Tim. read more

We decided to take a short holiday to Lenox at an off time, early March, and wound up at the Cornell Inn. This is a large B&B (28 rooms, I believe), with three different buildings on the property. We were warmly greeted by the Innkeeper and his assistant. Our room was in the oldest building, which dates back to 1777. The room was small but nicely appointed. The bathroom was small but had a jacuzzi tub. The building is heated, but the room has an individual unit as well. (We did not need A/C while there.) The house has its own sitting room, but we chose to hang out in the main house when we wanted to hang out. There are guest rooms in the main house as well as the Carriage House, which I believe has suites for larger parties. (We were just a party of two.) The breakfasts were outstanding! There was the usual suspects: cereal, juices, fruit, along with yogurt, and muffins. And then, buffet style, there was a frittata, a cobbler, pancakes, home fries and sausage. The frittatas were very tasty - light, flavorful, perfectly cooked. Our first morning there were blueberry and old fashioned pancakes (with a choice of real maple or homemade strawberry syrup) and apple cobbler. Our second morning there were traditional or Apple fritter pancakes and blueberry cobbler. Now, I don't usually see dessert items for breakfast, but of course I had some (and went back for seconds). To say we were happy with our breakfasts is an understatement. The Chef and staff were all friendly and helpful. They have coffee and tea available all day, along with muffins and, later in the day, freshly baked cookies--A very welcoming environment! The main house also has its own little bar, and the offerings were varied and sure to please anyone. Fairly priced, too. We had two delicious dinners in the town of Lenox, and we visited Stockbridge in the afternoon. There is a koi pond and small waterfall, and many tables available outside, too. We enjoyed reading in some Adirondack chairs during the afternoon. Lovely setting. The only caution I would offer is that the property is on a busy road. I could hear the traffic through the fireplace, but this didn't bother me when it was time to sleep. My husband did the research and found this B&B and said it was the least expensive option that he found appealing, so I'd say this was a tremendously good deal. I'd recommend the Cornell Inn regardless of the price point, but I highly recommend the Cornell Inn in this case.
