Excellent "inexpensive" (AKA cheap (: ) street taco joint. For my first visit here I got two…read moreAsasda (Steak) taco's and one El Pastor at a cost of $2.75 each!! Taco's were well made, with double corn tortillas, packed full of meat , no skimping here, and just cilantro and onions. Definately very authentic Mexican style taco's and not the Americanized versions you find throughout the area. My only qualm, which was minor, was that the meat was lacking the seasoning I like when in Mexico which gives the flavor pop that I personally like. I took care of this with some salt and pepper along with salsa to tune the taco to my personal taste. Relative to the Salsa, there was a walk up Salsa bar with multiple Salsa's to select from which I truly liked and reminded me of one of my favorite Taco Joints in Puerto Vallarta, Taco's Revolution. These salsa bars, are quite convenient and act as a "Fixing bar" that allows you to tailor the taco to your personal taste. I have not seen this before in this area and wished more businesses did it. They also need to add the cucumbers (dont knock it till you try it) and some onions as well to complete the fixing bar. (: Food comes with gratis nicely mildly seasoned chips which I really liked. The seasoning is more than just salt, quite tasty and unique to this business, Very nice! Relative to the facility and staff, the restaurant is a no frills operation and has a relatively small footprint with a limited number of tables which is probably something to keep in mind during peak dining hours. Clearly they let the food do the talking here. Staff is very friendly with prompt service and good follow up throughout. Overall a very good Mexican restaurant as reflected in the good Yelp reviews. The quality of the food and at the price point it is being sold at make this a must try if you are a fan of good Mexican food, in particular Street Taco's.

We did see that there is an outdoor seating upstairs but with how cold it's been, don't think it's open just yet. Parking is available in the back, as well as their main entrance). I missed it the first time, but they do have a stand with a big M. They have a pretty good selection of liquor and pretty $$$. In order to see the prices of each item, you gotta scan the qr code which is on the top right corner of the menu. The food was pretty good but on the pricer end. Which I totally get, with how the service is! We got an appetizer, a few dishes to split and a dessert. By the time we finished the main dishes, the waitress took all the plates and brought us new silverware for the delicious churro and ice cream. I absolutely love that they have many different kinds of salsa and oh my goodness, the chips (although a bit oily) was pretty good! You can definitely tell they make their chips in house.

She's also an elite reviewer and I wanted to show off my newly beloved hidden gem. However, maybe lunch is just not a good time to go. When we walked in my cousin was told she's not allowed to take pictures inside the restaurant so you can't see the ambiance. This was the first time I was ever told that. But, later we asked if we could take pictures of the food and we were told yes. So not the biggest deal but something to note for other reviewers. So, the tortillas from the chicken tacos were cold. The waitress kept coming back and lingering to take our order, and rush us out. She even made the comment "you guys are slow eaters." It felt very uncomfortable. We usually like to go to lunch we order appetizers (ceviche and soup), then an entree (tacos). Usually we get dessert and drinks but due to the waitress we decided to skip on these and just leave. We were sat upstairs so I guess she didn't like to keep going up and down. However no one else was dining in at the time so I'm not sure what the rush was. The waitress even made the comment that she was the owners sister in law. She came up to me and asked me if I was his neighbor and stated my last name and asked if I was related to another restaurant owner. She took my phone number at the beginning, I'm not sure why there was no wait. So I am unsure if that's how she got my name because I didn't give it to her. Which was just uneasy to me. Again I loved the dinner the other night. So I don't want to say never go. These are just my thoughts so yall can know what you are getting into.

Looks like an old drive-up, maybe?…read more Went to check it out with my smaller team working on site this Friday. Enter the small restaurant to put in your food order. Small counter space by the restaurant. The restaurant has no seating. Space enough for maybe 2-4 people while you order your food at the counter. I noticed folks sitting in their cars waiting for their name to be called out. 2 Chicken, 2 steak tacos, 4 chicken tacos, California chicken burrito, chicken and asada quesadillas, side of chips and guacamole. $50.25. The guacamole doesn't look so good, the container wasn't fully closed (later found out after opening it at the office) and it turned brown on the drive back to the office. Was told at checkout that I would get salsa, but it is only the salsa verde, not my favorite. The chicken tacos look anemic. The tacos look so very sad and the cilantro looks old and brown as well. I ate a few pieces of chicken off, it rather bland. I was hoping for some red salsa, but only had the salsa verde. The guacamole was bland as well, added some of the salsa verde, still insufficient flavor for me. Rather lack luster street tacos at the stand. Doubt I will return to eat again.

This is a take-out only location, though there are a few outdoor seats OR you can park in your car and do car-meal. Their tacos are great, their quesadillas are great (though ask for well-done if you want them to be crispy at all), I love their bowls. I don't have anything bad to say about the food; it's all delicious. The steak, pork, chicken, chorizo is all flavorful and high-quality. I LOVE the red salsa and medium-spicy green crema they give with each meal. The chips & restaurant salsa are an absolute must, too! Only qualm I have is they sometimes forget items I've ordered. I've asked for items on the site for them to not be included, like sliced avocados, which is a bummer. Sometimes we don't get plasticware or limes or napkins. That's the only issue, so be sure to double-check for the extras before you leave to enjoy your delicious meal.

Apparently, they changed management and rebranded on September 2022, but it is still the same company. El Agave Taqueria itself appeared to have incredible ratings. The place doesn't look like much, not to mention they're located within a gas station. But don't sleep on it! You'll be surprised by what you find! The food is delicious and authentic at a reasonable price. Honestly, probably one of the most authentic-tasting places I've had in the area. The portion is quite huge too. There's a small dining area, but many people order take-out. I tried the quesabirria dinner because it's one of their most recommended items. It's huge. It's a little over $15, under $20 with 20% tips, but it's huge. I feel like it's the size of 2 meals. It's 3 large soft-shelled red tortillas filled with birria-style cooked beef with melted cheese, onion, and cilantro, served with a side of rice and beans, and consomme for dipping. The beef can be a bit tough and tender, which is why you deep it into the consomme, and it soaks up all the juices. It will probably send your blood pressure to the roof and double your cholesterol level on your next bloodwork if you have it too often, but what can you say? It is delicious. Drink lots of water after because it is pretty salty. In addition, I get to try their Elote and their chips & guac. Guac is awesome. I love chunky guac, and that's what they deliver. Plus, the avocado tastes fresh. Elote is creamy, salty, and sweet all at the same time. Definitely a delicious snack. Overall, great food! EXCELLENT service. The staff is incredibly attentive, kind, helpful, and patient.
