Carol's Temptation AKA Rachel Sandwich AKA Turkey Reuben. Filling And Delicious!
    Mike G.

This is definitely a great place to go for some really good Jewish deli food! It's very small but cute. They do have some patio seating, too. Service was fast and friendly. The food here is really good, nice size portions and priced lower than I would have expected. I got the Rachel, AKA Carol's Temptation, and local friend, Yelper Amy B, got the Uncle Louie's BBQie, a brisket sandwich. Both of us agreed they were good hearty sandwiches that we had trouble finishing. They offered us the combo version, which gets you an individual bag of Better Made brand chips and a soft drink with free refills for $2.50. Thanks to Yelper Al P for another great local recommendation. If you're in the south part of the metro area, he knows the best value eats in the area. A solid 4 stars. So you ask? If it's so good, why not 5 stars? A few recommendations for the owners: * Take out a table. It's just too crowded. * The chairs are very uncomfortable. * Call out customer pick-up numbers once when the whole order is ready instead of once for the drink & chips and again for the sandwich. Dont make your customers have to get up twice. * Make sure the cheese is melted. Mine wasn't.

I don't remember how I first heard about Mati's, but I've had it bookmarked for years. Every time I'm in Dearborn as of late, I'm doing something else and don't have the time to stop in and check it out, or it's closed because they aren't currently open on the weekends. In a city that isn't known for it's Deli's, this place was a pleasant surprise. Today, I had the pleasure of meeting fellow yelper and extraordinaire, Mike G from Columbus here for a quick bite. Normally, we'd be hitting up Ford's garage, but I really wanted this place! I noticed online that the insides a tad small for my liking, and despite that, I really had a good time here. I went with the Uncle Louie's BBQie sandwich because I'm in a long standing, loving relationship with anything brisket. Mike, on the other hand does not eat red meat, so he went with something even fancier than moi, an got a chicken sandwich. While the tables here are very tiny, as is the restaurant, we both had a really good meal and enjoyed our time together. When we got there, it was awfully quiet for a Monday, but as we sat through our meal, more people started piling in. Doctors, automotive workers, retired people, families. Just a nice slice of people to see coming in for a quick bite. For drinks, they do have fountain pop and it's free refills. The cups are small but the staff here is really friendly, which I appreciate. The only complaint that I had, is the timing of how our food came out. I got mine first, but then it took Mike's meal much longer to arrive despite others ahead of him getting their orders before. He still got his food, but I do notice and I'm not sure what the hold up was. No issue or problem, just a minor annoyance because we love Mike G! Overall, it was worth trying and I'm glad we did. Food was spot on, and the portions were good for the price. (Deli's can be finicky about some menu items and charge another zillion dollars for extra sauces, napkins or anything they want because they can and I'm glad they do not do that here.) If you're in the area and want a low key place to sit, have a quick sandwich and chill, this is your place.

Mati's Deli is a very old fashioned sandwich joint; the interior looks like something you would see in the 80s. They do churn out some good sandwiches but just be aware, prices have gone up by something like 50% over the last couple of years. Reuben ($14.99) - This is quite a large sandwich piled up with corned beef and sauerkraut. If you get it with chips and a drink (which I think was something like $3 extra), it could probably last for two meals. There is a pretty small amount of Russian dressing on top - the sandwich probably needs double the dressing to make it great. There's a slice of unmelted swiss cheese in the center. Everything is on perfectly toasted rye. This is just personal preference, but I wish the entire sandwich were heated so that the cheese could melt. The sandwich came with a standard pickle wedge. I know they are totally different, but there are several Italian delis nearby where you can get multiple sandwiches for the price of one here. I think Mati's is great for an occasional treat given the price.

I realize business might be slow during COVID but that shouldn't excuse serving sandwiches on stale bread. The onion roll I had was so hard you could knock on it, and when I bit into it, it crumpled like a cracker, which was unfortunate since the chicken salad was very good. The bread on the BLT was also stale. The bread on Carrol's Temptation seemed okay, but that might be because it was toasted. I also found a couple of pieces of something in my food that appeared to be plastic

Today I was looking for an old fashioned Deli but I was in the area of dearborn. So I looked up this place and decide to try it out. First let's say that I was kind of disappointed because I couldn't make the sandwich the way I wanted it. I have never been to a place where I can't get a a corned beef mixed with whatever meat I like even if I have to pay more for it. She absolutely said that we don't make a sandwich with corned beef and roast beef. But I see they had combo sandwiches with roast beef and other meats along with the corned beef. So I definitely cannot understand why I couldn't get it that way but that's just the beginning. The waitress was ruled unfriendly and not up for you to ask her many questions as this was my first time there. I'm not sure if it was because there weren't customers that look like me or was she just having a bad day. Also another customer came in of a different descent than mine and he was treated rudely as well and abrupt. The food I received was just okay so needless to say, I have no need to return. It's kind of hard to find the old fashioned delis from back in the day where your corned beef will sliced with marbling and fat and you can see the stacks of meat. Nowadays, it seems like the corned beef is like all crumbled up and you just get a stack of crumbled meat. It wasn't terrible but along with bad customer service I won't be back.

Grabbed some lunch for my team: Chicken bacon ranch no lettuce or tomato, a large Lebanese salad (no pita), Turkey Reuben sandwich, Chicken melt, Bronx and a can of Mountain Dew and one can of Coke. Oh my. Their Chicken melt menu that someone posted on here changed from what someone else had posted a while back. Their current chicken melt is essentially a chicken Philly. It wasn't what my team member wanted, had to give it to someone else, since it had mushrooms in it. The Lebanese salad was good, the large is a good size. Loaded with tomatoes and cukes. Ended up with bits of pita at the bottom of my salad, had to pick them out. :/ The chicken bacon ranch was nicely packed with meat in a sub bun. The Bronx was good as well. The turkey Rueben was okay. Light on the kraut and sauce. The turkey meat was deli slices though. The bread was maybe separately toasted. It was pan or cook top cooked. The rye was a bit too hard as I tried to get a bite in. I ended up having to gut it and eat the inside goods separately. Oven roasted turkey would have been fantastic, more kraut or add slaw too. Salad was good and fresh. The sandwiches look picture worthy.

Most people want pepperoni, and when you're serving by the slice, you can't try all these random combos that people might not eat. But no cheese? As in the most basic pizza option? That feels wrong. When I had my veggie sandwich a little later, it was very good. My brother had persuaded the guy to throw in some additional mushrooms. The bread was top notch, and I enjoyed the sandwich. For the price, it should have either been larger or included more vegetables, cheese, all of the above, anything. My dad really enjoyed his sandwich, but my brother was left wanting by his meatball sub. The local-brand potato chips were a nice touch. They use way too much plastic wrap.
