Really liked the decor and menu options that were available. The food did take a little bit to come out but it was hot and fresh when it did. The burger was great but had a little too mush ketchup and mustard on it, so it was kind of taking over the flavor of the burger. The mushroom steak sub was good but I would maybe get the classic next time and just add mushrooms to it to get more of that Philly style flavor. We like trying new places so we came to get a sandwich from the Bulldog Cheesesteak. It did not disappoint! Great food! Lots of food for price and very delicious! The girl taking orders could be friendlier but she was not rude just we thought she could have been happier and more upbeat. The restaurant is nice could use some sunshades but the atmosphere is cool with the sports and comic stuff. Must try it! The guy cooking are friendly maybe owner? Great find for tasty cheesesteaks and more! We stopped for a late lunch on a snowy afternoon. Both the staff members were super nice to the point we both smiled to ourselves and said WOW. We had the Mushroom Steak and Junkyard Dog. I had the salt and vinegar fries. On another recommendation we got an order of Mamma's corned beef egg rolls with thousand island dipping sauce. We loved everything we had! The sandwiches were steaming hot off the flattop grill. The fries crispy perfection on the outside, seasoned just right and fluffy inside. The egg rolls were crunch and not the least bit greasy. We ate less than half as by then we were more than satisfied. Dinner tonight will be tasty too! What a find. Me and my son went here for lunch and absolutely loved it. We ordered the loaded Philly sandwiches and the Nashville loaded fries. The sandwiches were amazing. The were loaded with Philly steak and topped with the fixings. ( lettuce tomatoes onions and other stuff as requested). The Nashville loaded fries were truly loaded. A generous portion of golden crisp french fries top with fried chicken breast cut into pieces with Pickles, special sauce and cheese that was melted. This time my friend and I ordered the spicy Steak Slugger and the Nashville chicken sub. I paired it with some of their puckerlicious salt and vinegar fries and my gosh was it tasty. First off - the Classic Philly Cheesesteak was pretty impressive. I don't put any sauces on it and it was superb. My only grind is the price - $15 is kind of a stretch for what I just ate. Don't get me wrong, it was very good, but it's probably more of a $10-12 cheesesteak. Don't get me wrong - I enjoyed my meal, but this cost prevents me from returning on a frequent basis. Next, I opted for the cheese fries. Again, they tasted good, but not as good as the Cheesesteak, so $7 is a pretty aggressive price tag. I should've opted for the "Regular fries" @ $3.50. Overall - Bulldog's Cheesesteaks is a solid 3 1/2 - 4 stars; however, I would've considered this a solid 5-Star meal if the pricing was more appropriate. Three other quick things - Two Pro's and One Con: PRO #1 - the guy who was working the grill is CLEARLY good at what he does and I can tell that he takes pride in his ability to cook a good cheesesteak. So, Kudos to him. PRO #2 - I like the decor. It is a good mix of "classic" Sports memorabilia and Spider-Man memorabilia. CON - when you pay for your meal with a credit card, the three gratuity options are very inflated. The options were: 18%, 20% and 25%. I have a significant problem with any "counter order" eatery "expecting" an 18% gratuity. I mean, 18% is actually an exceptional tip for a "counter order" establishment. The gratuity options should probably be: 12%, 15% and 18%. These high gratuity options demonstrate a sense of entitlement. However, since I was the only person in Bulldog's when my cheesesteak was ready, the chef personally walked my meal out to me at my table - so I'll give props for that. However, if this place had been really busy, I would have to think that my name would've been called, and I'd go pickup my meal. If I'm correct, that definitely DOES NOT constitute more than a 12-15% tip. read more

Let me preface this by saying, I'm kind of a cheesesteak snob! This was the BEST cheesesteak sub I've had in years. They were pretty busy with door dash and carry out orders. The owner was on top of everything and the cooks were working pretty fast. I was impressed, especially considering they've been open less than two months. I also loved seeing the diversity of the staff and how well they worked together. The corned beef egg rolls were good. Personally, I prefer more of a crunchy shell but the insides were filled generously with delicious corned beef and sauerkraut; add to it the thousand island dipping sauce and it was a darn good bite! But let's talk about the cheesesteak... soft, fresh baked bread, perfectly cooked tender steak without the fatty bits and all the grease...perfect blend and proportions of onions with both swiss cheese and cheese whiz. It was a pretty low key time of day and I was served immediately. The staff was friendly and it was a good ordering experience. My cheesesteak was ready in 8 minutes and I took it to go. A few things I loved were the onions and the steak itself. The cheese was melty and there was a decent amount of it. Something I thought could be improved on was the bread. Even with the best quality inside stuffing, bread can make or break a cheesesteak, and I thought the bun was subpar for the price. HORRIBLE. This is NOT what you want ! This garbage looked and tasted like it was scooped out of a bucket. There was NO Cheese, No Green peppers ( which I had specifically requested and PAID for ). The meat as you can see STUCK to the hard and unpleasant bun. This dry mess went STR8 to the trash. Oh & don't get me started on the greasy deli meat Corned Beef Eggroll. The corn beef tasted totally like fake imitation meat. It had Zero flavor and also joined the trash. I called to ask for a remake on my order after my Husband has spent $70 at this awful establishment and was told " there is NOTHING they can do for me". Came here one day randomly because I was shopping and I do not regret that decision at all. Decent size place, new looking and clean and a great staff. I had the philly loaded, which was great (they did have a little extra seasoning on it but still great). I also had the cheese fries here. Now they are like $7, which is a little high, but they give you a whole whole lot of fries to where two people can share it easy (I also had some of my son's Cajun fries and those were excellent). Dearborn is slowly becoming a Mecca for subs and cheesesteak shops over the last few years. With so much competition, you really have to find ways to stand out (via wide menu options, quality ingredients, unique sides/condiments, etc). I have made every effort to try whatever place offers a classic Philly in the Metro Detroit area and it's been a remarkable experience. I've never had any two cheesesteaks taste exactly the same, for better or worse. The next contender in the ring is Bulldog's, which is fitting because they draw a little bit of inspiration from the Rocky film franchise with the naming of some of their sandwiches. We got two sandwiches, the Bulldog Wiz and the "Yo, Adrian". The Wiz, as the name suggests, is a classic Philly with traditional cheese wiz. The latter is a deli-style Italian cold cut sandwich (substituting beef in place of pork). We also ordered cajun fries to share. Both subs were great overall, one being warm and gooey, the other being cold but tangy. I really loved my cheesesteak as it tasted exactly like a Philly should taste like with bread of perfect texture and consistency. It was an almost flawless sandwich, except that they put waaaaay too much cheese wiz. It was so cheesy it was all I could taste at some points. It also made it difficult to hold as my sandwich was breaking up in my hand once the cheese got cold and solidified. I think with half the cheese this would have been a spectacular meal, which I'll remember to ask for next time. Aside from that this is the most authentic tasting Philly I've had so far in Michigan. To make a sub you have to put some great ingredients inside a long fluffy bread. The trick is that your bread has to be a great vessel that delivers these flavors to you taste buds. Bulldogs bakes their bread fresh daily and they have a great recipe. It's like a better version of Jimmy John's in that it is softer but still has a top crunch. The meat is top quality ribeye, and the flavors can be simple with just meat and cheese or crazy with a bunch of dressing and veggies. The food is hot and fresh, the Cajun fries have come out hot and crispy, with just enough grease to almost soak the bag by the time I've gotten home. The portions are perfect, and the bread is soft enough to bite into but strong enough to support the contents of the sandwiches.
