I had the lavender lemon drop, the mushroom soup, and we shared a brownie sundae with my daughter... everything was so good. What really stood out to me was the experience. I tend to write more lengthy reviews, but I'll keep it short and straight to the point. The restaurant has very good food at best and at worst above average. It is considered a fine dining experience, but I did not feel like it took itself too seriously. I do think the prices are way too high for some of the things they are offering, but overall I did enjoy dinner with my wife here. The waiter we had was a nice polite dude, but when asked about recommendations he kept insisting on steak related dishes and didn't really give me much insight into other things. I was a huge fan of the lamb ribs and mushroom soup. I did like the orzo dish even though I'm not a pasta person, but I found my wife's penne to be so and so. Just phenomenal. Everyone needs to go here! For appetizers, we started with the burrata, arugula salad, and chipotle chicken bites, and every single one was delicious. The burrata had the perfect balance of herbs and mozzarella, and I loved the olives mixed in. The blushed feta arugula salad didn't even taste like a salad. It had the freshest ingredients, just the right amount of crunch, and a super tasty vinaigrette. The cherries were also such a nice touch. We added a side of chicken, which was crispy on the outside, moist inside, and perfectly seasoned. Literally cooked to perfection. The chipotle chicken bites were the perfect mix of tangy and sweet. The sauce they were soaked in was incredible. Honestly, if we hadn't already ordered entrees, we could have stopped right there. For drinks, I had the Pink Lady. It was a little too sweet for me, but I fixed that by adding some sparkling water (haha). For entrees, we got the Filet Au Poivre and the Truffle Campanelle. The steak tips were so flavorful and cooked perfectly. The truffle pasta was just okay for me. The cream sauce didn't have a ton of flavor. The staff was amazing. Jackie and Dana were so kind, took our photo multiple times, and checked in often to make sure we were good. Only downside was that we had to wait about 30 minutes past our reservation time for a table, but they were completely packed, and the rainy weather limited their seating. This is a interesting review to write because it doesn't feel as straightforward as most. We tried Birdie's for the first time last night after seeing great reviews which created high expectations. Our experience was mixed so I am going to be as honest as possible. Overall, I'm still giving it five stars because it's new and although there are some areas for improvement, I think this place shows tremendous promise. First the positives. I'll start with the most important - the food is excellent! With a menu that made it difficult to choose, I was pretty excited to dine here. We started with a caesar salad for the table to share and it was one of the best caesars I've ever tried. The cornbread croutons put it over the top. For dinner, I had the Wood-fired Ribeye Melt and my husband had the Fish & Chips and both were excellent. Shoestring fries are my favorite kind and they are super generous with them. I would rate the food here better than most restaurants in the metro-Detroit area. Another positive was that the service was fast and friendly. They really have a team-mentality here with everyone working together to serve, clear and check in with patrons. We felt welcome and appreciated from the first time our server came to the table. The patio and view outside were amazing. We couldn't sit outside because it just wasn't warm enough yet, but we had a great view and I can see the patio as being very popular as soon as it warms up outdoors. Now, on to areas I think could be improved. Again, starting with the most important - the cocktails. When I pay $16 for a drink, I have high expectations and I just don't think Birdie's is there yet. I tried two different drinks and neither was something I'd order again. I will say the drink presentation was on point, but the drinks themselves didn't wow me. The dining room experience had a few hiccups as well. One was the noise level. I know that 1. most restaurants are loud, and 2. I am getting old, which makes it harder to carry on a conversation at the table, but I noticed this more here than usual. (It really made me wish that lovely patio was open.) My second issue with the dining room was the size of the table. We dined with another couple and our four-top was smaller than average which made it uncomfortably crowded even when just our salad and drinks were on the table, let alone when dinner arrived. I think this may have played a factor in a cocktail that was accidentally spilled while being served. As I said it was an accident and we completely understood, but were puzzled and surprised when not once, but twice we were rained on again with some liquid that came from the direction of the bar. It was very weird, but because it was right before we left, we didn't mention it. Overall, I am willing to give this place another shot. The quality of the food is most important and I'm seriously rooting for this place. I will, however, give them a little time to iron out a few of these kinks, so I truly feel the entire experience is worth the cost. read more

I must start off by saying, the food is great and I'm so glad they're here in Dearborn Hills. I have a feeling we will become pretty regular here. Service was great; several different people came to check on us and ask how the food was; it's great to get some constructive criticism in the beginning. I had one of their signature cocktails - a delicious martini made with all kinds of things! It was perfect and so pretty. We then had the lamb ribs, which I highly recommend. Fatty, unctious, sweet and savory. The house pickled peppers really make this dish stand out - I love them! For entrees, I had the wood-fired ribeye melt, and it's absolutely delicious. Everyone who spoke to us said it is their favorite thing on the menu, and I can see why! It's so tender and flavorful with this awesome gravy/jus type dipping sauce and tons of fries - definitely enough to share. Perfectly fried, salted and delicious. This sandwich also comes with those awesome pickled peppers and onions, and they're so good on it. Hubby had the welly napoleon, which is their take on a beef wellington type dish. Perfect mashed potatoes, savory tender beef tips and a yummy pie crust top. He said it just needed a little salt. We didn't order dessert this time, but they had some really tempting things. The only real critiques I have are about the ambiance, which can easily be remedied. The entrance and entryway need some plants, possibly, and maybe some additional signage? A lampost with a banner would be so cute. Overall at night, the lighting is too bright. Lower lighting, candles on the tables, and plants would help a ton. Right now, it's giving slight cafeteria, but that should not deter anyone from visiting for dinner. The food and service is on point; the rest is just window dressing. Absolutely delightful experience all the way around! The lamb ribs were so rich in layers of flavor with jerk rub and a sticky honey soy glaze. The chicken bites were yummy crispy and the Caesar salad fresh. Loved the crunchy cornbread croutons! Equally a standout was the lovely and warm smiles and service from everyone. Birdies had great food! We had their mushroom bisque with garlic bread and it was one of the BEST soups I've ever eaten! Creamy and so full of flavor! Both our sandwiches were great! They said they use European flour in their sourdough bread so it doesn't upset your gut. It was great bread. My sandwich (ribeye) was better without the additional au jus they give you which just made it too soggy. My ONLY knock on the whole experience was the guy who was the front of house manager. After he seated us he HAD to explain the entire appetizer menu. He was so loud and so determined to do his schpeel that we felt like a deer in the headlights. Finally I spoke up after he had verbally assaulted us with four appetizer options and I said we weren't interested....and STILL he had to push out a little bit more information from his pie hole. Came here for my bday dinner. Because of the weather, it was not too busy but last time we were here it was crazy busy. Got seated quickly. The servers are so friendly and attentive. This place is strange. Before going I was super excited to delve into their menu. The food was edible, so that's good. Things were just weird. They sat us at a super small table with cafeteria plastic chairs. We ordered a craft beer and a $25 cab glass (not Napa btw). I also ordered a club soda (no sparkling water here). When our server brought the drinks, she brought two waters. We told her we didn't want them, as Hubbs doesn't do water with his beer, and I already have a club soda. Server told us it was mandatory to have the waters on the table. Okay, that's weird and we have a baby table, so where's the food going to go? Meanwhile, place is pretty empty. Then I order what sounds like a lovely arugula salad. I asked for the raspberry vinaigrette on the side. Five minutes later, a guy comes over and tells me that's not how they serve it, and I'll regret it. The salad was delivered by a young man who must've been in a hurry, because he pushed our server away and found a small area to drop it and his arm swiped half the salad. He brought a new one, and it was so "wet" that it wasn't enjoyable. My chicken was tasty, but Hubbs' "Welly" wasn't even close to a Beef Wellington. I went here for a dinner date. The restaurant is very nice and cozy. We sat in the banquet side and there was a cozy fireplace. It was very romantic. I had the burrata tapenade and it was amazing. For the main dish I had the Filet Au Poivre and my date had the Penne alla "No Vodka" with chicken. She's enjoyed her meal a lot as did I. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great. First thing, when they ask you if you've ever been there before just say yes. Otherwise you'll have the hostess stand next to your table and read the menu to you for 10 minutes. No idea why they do this, it's a menu, we can read it ourselves just leave them on the table maybe mention any specials. No I've never been to Birdies before but I have been to a restaurant before so I know what menus are and how they work. I'm good. I was a little surprised at how small the table was but I didn't think too much of it at first. Until everything came at once. My wife and I each ordered a cup of soup, as soon as they sat that down 10 seconds later our entrees arrive. No big deal I guess other than the ribeye melt I ordered comes on a giant cutting board so between 2 water glasses, 2 drinks, 2 soups my wife's plate, 2 small plates that came on the table, and my oversized cutting board I was struggling to keep everything on my end table for a dinner table. The food was 6/10. Soup was great though. Another thing that annoyed me was when the cook brought out my sandwich he said "the way we recommend eating this is...." My guy, it's a sandwich I think I'll manage. I know it sounds petty but I was already annoyed with the hostess reading the menu to us now I have the cook telling me how to eat a sandwich? Atmosphere was really nice, I'll come back to eat after a round of golf maybe but the last thing that bothered me was when the check came. When they bring the whole machine to you and they have the tip default to like 30% I feel like it really cheapens the experience. I hate that restaurants do that now. Really nice classy restaurants will still bring the bill in the fold with a pen and walk away. Standing over you with a screen is something I would expect at Applebees. Leave the bill. For the record I had a 5-paragraph review almost complete when my iPad died on me, but rather than saying forget it, I couldn't, this place is worthy of the following critique. The three of us walked in and were immediately, welcomed warmly by the Hostess who I believe was Andreas who shuffled us into the room on the left. We came early and the dining area was empty apart from one other table but by the time we left the place was filling up fast, and after our experience it was easy to understand why. Andreas quickly filled us in on the history of Brydies as we mentioned this was our first time there. Informative, personable, and smiling the whole time, she shared some of the favorite dishes at Brydies, took our drink order which made it to our table promptly. Enter, Elise, our server who was just as pleasant as Andreas (must be a qualification to work there). She effortlessly ran through the menu and shared some of the favorites! I'll be honest, we perused the menu before getting there, and I knew what I was getting. We started with the Jalapeño Artichoke Dip (Cream Cheese | House-Smoked Jalapeño | Artichoke Hearts | Smoked Paprika | Sharp Cheddar | Parmesan | Hacienda Tortilla Chips) and you should, this was AMAZING! I opted for the Wood Fired Ribeye Melt, here you go (Wood-Oven Shaved Ribeye | Charred Onions | Gruyère | Grilled Sourdough | House-Made Pickled Chilies | Miso Rosemary Jus) and it did not disappoint. It was suggested to me by the incredible kitchen staff that accompanied our entrees to the table that I should put those side of peppers on the sandwich if I liked a sandwich with a little kick, I took the advice and all I can say is it was worth it, this sandwich was delicious. It came with fries which I generally don't compliment too often, but I am going to. If you love those fries from that (Golden Arches place) you're going to love these. One could share these easily, but seriously, get your own! Additional entrees to the table are the Fish and Chips, (Hand-Battered + Flash-Fried Grouper Fillets | Malt Vinegar Soy Gastrique | Green Curry Remoulade | Sweet Sesame Slaw | Fries) YEP, you get those tasty fries!! BONUS! Gruper, such a nice change from Cod and the Sweet Sesame Slaw, was a perfect complement to this dish! And lastly, The Caesar Salad topped with crispy chicken (OK, it may have been grilled, it's been a few weeks) what I can tell you is, it didn't disappoint. It was very quiet at our table for the next few minutes and for good reason! Thinking we couldn't eat another bite at the end of the meal, our thought process changed immediately when we heard Elise say, Apple Crisp, here you go, (Charred Fuji Apple | Vernor's Caramel Cream | Crisp Streusel Topping | Vanilla Bean Ice Cream | Salted Caramel) enough said, we split that and we were all in agreement, "So glad we did that!" Let's wrap this up with "Hats Off" to the amazing service, The Hostess Andreas, our Server Elise, the amazing kitchen staff, I kid you not, they all came out with the entrees and looked genuinely excited to present these entrees, I wish I could include their names because I would! Exceptional from beginning to end. I don't know if it was because we shared this was our first time there, but we felt like we were the only ones there, meaning every need was met. I am always impressed when the Restaurant Manager visits the table to inquire about how everything was. Marwan, chatted with us like we were old friends who hadn't seen each other in years. This didn't feel like a mandatory pitstop; this was a manager who genuinely cared about every aspect of our experience there, and he demonstrated that by dropping by more than once, much like Elise who frequently checked on us to ensure we had everything we needed. Clearly fake paid for reviews. Way overpriced for the mediocre food at best. 2 drinks, app, burger and salad $130. We would have had better food and service at the bar down the street for a third of the price. I asked for a cocktail - patron, seltzer, lime. Pretty basic, and the waitress came back 3 times to ask what it was. (Should have been my first sign to leave) I resorted to selecting one of the cocktails on the menu. My drink came out 15 minutes before the other requested drink. After the appetizer came out, the waitress takes away the appetizer plate from my girlfriend before we're done. I give gf my plate, so she can continue. Waitress then comes back and takes that plate as well! (Should have been second sign to leave) Putting our order in, gf asks for salmon Caesar salad. Waitress checked with the kitchen and said it would be an additional $18. She resorted to the chicken (by the quality of food, thank goodness she did). I ordered their signature burger, I asked for medium. Waitress said they only have "done or pink" (another sign to leave). Food comes out, burger has no toppings on it, beef tastes questionable. Ketchup that came with the fries tastes like it's been sitting out. The chicken on the Caesar salad was well over cooked and heavily battered. Looks like it's from the bulk food freezer bag. Gf said the Caesar dressing tasted like mayonnaise and ranch. With all that said, the restaurant does have a nice atmosphere overlooking the pond and fountains on the golf course. My husband I were excited to try this out after reading the reviews. We walked in and it felt off from the start. There seemed to be an issue going on and we were not greeted. We stood there for a few to have another party walk in after us, they were greeted and addressed while we still were waiting. Then approached and asked about if reservations were needed since I heard someone mention reservations. I was abruptly cut short while asking and was told they take walk-ins but I needed to hold on. We ended up leaving before even trying the food. I felt like we were a bother to be wanting to try this restaurant out. Such a bummer. On Sunday Aug 10th at 3:30pm my wife and I played a round of golf at Dearborn Hills before picking up our son at the airport. We got done early so we decided to grab a bite at Birdies and WOW what a wonderful experience. The customer service was amazing especially Marty behind the bar where we sat. The hostess, waiters and manager were also wonderful, but their names escape me. We just ordered a couple of beers fries, chicken bites and Marty convinced us to get a Caesar salad which we did. The presentation of the food was so wonderful as was the taste and the great conversations we had with Marty. I would recommend this place to anyone and the next time I am anywhere near the airport, golf and a meal at Birdies will be on the schedule. read more

To start off, the staff is very very nice and attentive. They checked on us frequently -- multiple staff members, including the manager. Our server Jalen was amazing! We had several dishes -- the special arugula salad, onion soup, chopped Garden salad, chicken cutlet on the side, and two drinks. The daily special oberon drink was delicious as was the blood orange they served it with. All the salads were well dressed and delicious. I have only note on the food -- the onion soup was super salty and the beef broth was very thick. I honestly think it could've been better with a little less flavored stock or a little more water. When I ate my leftovers at home I added some water and it was a lot better. Otherwise amazing. Highly recommend. My parents live nearby so I'll be back! read more
