I had a hard time giving this restaurant even one star. Any smart business knows that customer service comes first. But let me tell you-- this place needs a few lessons in the restaurant world. I'll first start by saying that their food was far from worth the wait. I waited over one hour for a sad piece of turkey on bread. If that introduction didn't turn you off, then this will. There was one particular lady with blonde hair and glasses. Sadly, she did not have a name tag. I now understand why they don't let her have one. She made an average experience absolutely horrible. This lady directed unspeakable comments to my grandfather. She was rude. She put her hands in the face of customers. She accused us of not paying for all of our sandwiches when we spent nearly $200. She continuously snapped at all members of our family. Moral of the story, this lady should not be allowed to interface with customers. It was embarrassing for the sandwich shop, and people nearby were appalled by her behavior. We will never be returning there again. One last thing. I downloaded Yelp for the first time JUST to write this feedback. That should tell you something. I'm a sucker for a good view, but no water front can drag me back to this terribly run joke of a business. read more

I've lived in the area a long time, but didn't go towards charlevoix unless I had a reason...now I ALWAYS have a reason! It's been many years and I have never been disappointed. This place is fantastic for a sandwich lover (I am). Their soups are to die for, I can't tell you my favorite because their all my favorite. I love many sandwiches but I usually go with their tuna melt, which is unique because it is made on raisin bread (try it!). I also am a super fan of the Michigan cherry rice pudding. Don't expect to come into this place and be out in 5 minutes because it's always busy. It is well worth the wait, but give the sandwich geniuses 15 minutes minimum to craft you the perfect lunch. In the warmer months you can expect the patio to be packed, but if you can snag a spot with a view I highly recommend. There are many area tourist pull off areas as well if you've taken your lunch "to-go"! read more

Hammie Sammie was delicious! Ham, cheese, lettuce and tomato with honey mustard on deli rye bread. I know that ~sounds~ average - but it's not - it was amazing. All the ingredients are fresh, and the bread is out of this world. There are so many different sandwiches to chose from - their menu board covers the whole wall. Not that it's horribly far from downtown, but it's just really inconvenient when you have a great parking spot in a lot that you don't want to lose and sort of silly, considering how much great food is actually within walking distance such as: -Roast and Toast (sandwiches, soups, salads, and coffee) -Jose's (authentic Mexican for cheap, without giving up taste or portion size) -Thai Orchard (authentic Thai food) -Whitecaps (sandwiches and seafood, much cheaper at lunch than dinner, alcohol) -The Noggin Room Pub (seafood, traditional American - burgers, sandwiches, beer) -Flat Iron Deli (sandwiches, soup; friggin delicious) -City Park Grille (sandwiches, salads; up to par with Cormacks) -Papa Lou's (pizza, sandwiches, beer) -Julienne Tomatoes (sandwiches, salads; open breakfast and lunch) -Grand Traverse Pie Company (sandwiches, salads, pies) -Tokyo Japanese Restaurant (only sushi/Japanese food in Petoskey) -American Spoon Gelato Cafe (sandwiches, gelato) -Mitchell Street Pub and Leo's Lounge (both so-so for me, but you might like them) I dunno. It probably makes sense for someone coming from Bay Harbor or Charlevoix (or is working over that way) to go there, but for the fare, it's not really worth the gas (or losing a great parking space) to get over there. read more

I don't typically don't like sandwiches but I love this deli! I ordered The Dilly which is roast beef with cheese, slaw, and Russian dressing. I could only eat half but they don't do halfzies. Their homemade self-serve soups are amazing and the dessert selections are overwhelming...in a good way (try the lemon pie). They have plenty of deli sides too. The cold tortellini chicken salad is delicious! All the breads are homemade. If I'm in Petoskey and only have time for one restaurant, this is it. This is my kind of place, a small hometown deli set across the highway from a beautiful view of Lake Michigan. I guess my one complaint is that the sandwich that I ordered (a Turkey Reuben) was too big--but is that even a complaint? I was very hungry when I came here and I'm a man with a very healthy appetite, and I had to struggle to finish half of my sandwich. My advice to Cormack's would be to reduce the size on the sandwich with a corresponding price reduction. But maybe that's just me..... I'll start off by saying the food is really good, but the experience with the staff is so MISERABLE (especially when they can tell you are not a local), it could make you wish you were anorexic and never ate. There aren't many choices like Cormacks in the area, so they have a pretty captive audience...and as I said, their food is good. Here's my advice, don't ask a question, don't ask for anything that's not on the menu, and definitely do no ask for a tiny sample of something before ordering it (tuna salad in my case which can be really different depending where you get it from). I hate rewarding a business with my business when they absolutely thrive on making your experience miserable. As I am sitting here waiting for my food they yelled at a woman who came in for a pick-up order. She quietly said, "I'm sorry, I wasn't aware of the procedure." Lord have mercy, lady with the glasses and grey/blond bun behind the counter, take a pill, get some therapy or ask God for an attitude adjustment. Life is hard enough without getting yelled at when you are just trying to get lunch. read more

AMAZING I am a very tiny person 90% of the time I don't finish all my food. I'm the annoying girl asking for a box with half my food still on my plate. I often visit Cormacks Deli and each time the line is long but well worth the wait. My favorite Sandwich is the Tom C with a side of tortellini salad. All the salads are home made and the cookies and pies are delicious. The help have been the same faces over the years and I always get a smile even at peak busy times. I have read several of the posts stating bad customer service, I disagree and have never experienced one instance in the 20 years I have been going to Cormacks. Today was the first time I've been to my favorite deli Cormacks in several years! And my what a change!! The corned beef on rye with Russian dressing and Swiss cheese had been changed and not for the better! There was absolutely no flavor, no corned beef seasoning, zero flavor in the Russian dressing (I think it was watered down) terrible waste of calories to eat. So I only ate half and that was to enjoy the one flavorful delicious part...the rye bread. So sad I won't be back unless you change recipes to the original corned beef and dressing. read more
