Make a reservation! I have stopped in at this local establishment a number of times since COVID. Last night we met another couple there and didn't make reservations. The hostess was very accommodating and believed she would be able to find a table. Thank you. We found our way to the bar and eventually land four seats together as folks left. Drink menu and service is four star! Rose took care of us. When time to order food, specials were explained and as always they have a 'foodie' menu. We ordered the sauerkraut balls to share. They are homemade and probably the best I have had. Here is the rub. We got there promptly at 6 and didn't see the appetizer until almost 7:30. Agreed we didn't order it right away. Dinner came at about 8. I ordered the Grouper, my wife had the chicken. And the other couple split the Valentine's Day dinner. All thought it was very good. However mine may have been not quite room temperature. I didn't say anything to Rose as she was working so hard and apologized citing staff. I would hope if you have a reservation you would be quickly seated and have a meal that is temperature appropriate. Reservations help them plan too! read more

DELICIOUS! First time at the Corkscrew Saloon. Claire was our server and she was awesome. Great service, lots of attention paid to us. She answered all our questions and enjoyed chatting with us about the history of the mansion. We had the Baked Brie app - yum (the homemade pita chips were to die for). Entrees were the prime rib and Corkscrew Trio - both outstanding. We sat inside on a Weds night and the restaurant was pleasantly busy. Next time we'll sit outside near the pond and fountains :). Had been waiting to come here for a long time. Unfortunately, it is nothing special food wise. The building is beautiful, but the food was just ok. I really wanted a burger, you would think a place with saloon in the name would have one, but no. So I settled in 2 apps....Bourdain stuffed mushrooms and lettuce wraps. Mushrooms were soggy. Lettuce for the wraps were too thick and crunchy to roll, so I ate the filling without the lettuce. The filling was nothing special. For as expensive as this place is, the food should reflect more care. Won't be going back. read more

Featuring local ingredients and a part of Medina history, this is a go to for many on special occasions. Some Highlights: Those that got the pasta commented it was fresh and the sauces were flavorful without being overwhelming to the pasta. The fillet was cooked well, but the real star was the wine reduction. It brought out the flavor of the fillet and wasn't too heavy on a bitter wine. This is another restaurant in Medina that features local ingredients so that is a plus. Our Experience: Both times we seemed to fall under that "lost table" by our server. Again it was very busy so I can understand. It seemed out of the ordinary based on other reviews. Our food was very mixed with some hitting the right boxes on flavor (see above) and others totally missing the mark. The mahi mahi pineapple got lost in the general tso's. If you enjoy more general tso's you'll be fine...it was just not what I was expecting. For appetizers, we tried the baked brie, the stuffed mushrooms, and the local pork belly. The brie and the mushrooms were rubbery, but the local pork belly was cooked well and had a great flavor from the chutney. Overall: This place didn't match up with the food I enjoy, but I wouldn't write it out. I think this place shines with the steak and the pasta. If you're looking for a nice place to take someone for one of those, you can end up with a good meal in a historical setting...worth a visit. read more

We came here on a Friday night around 8p for a special occasion dinner. Food and service were great. The calamari was some of the best I've ever had with a sweet and savory sauce. The truffle potatoes that accompanied our tomahawk steak (pictured-cooked perfectly) were even better the next day for eggs steak and potatoes. Good craft beer, wine, and cocktail selection. We visited the restaurant last Saturday and really enjoyed our meal. We started with the boursin stuffed mushrooms which were tasty. My husband got the salmon dinner and I got the boursin chicken dinner and both were really wonderful. Our server was Tara and she did a stellar job. We love the old mansion and the photos. What a great historical house with a lot of great stories. The food was excellent. I had a filet with scalloped potatoes and asparagus. The Corkscrew Saloon is an experiment in duplicity. On the one hand, it is situated in a beautiful Victorian setting with quaint rooms leading to an intimate dining experience. On the other hand, it also has the look of a creepy haunted house with a little bit of dive bar grunge. Confused? Intrigued? I wasn't sure either. The menu was concise with some daily specials and about 10 to 15 main dishes to choose from. I ordered the rack of lamb with couscous off the regular menu and my date ordered the prime rib with mashers from the specials. Started with a glass of pinot noir from the wine menu. Got the house, which was just OK and not worth 6 bucks a glass. The bread came out next. Warmed straight out of the nearest giant eagle freezer bag. And the butter came in those individual packets. Does this annoy anyone else when you are presented butter in this fashion at a white tablecloth restaurant. With these markups, can't you pay some high school kid to scrape it into a serving dish. But I digress. We ordered the Boursin stuffed mushrooms for the app with a side of horseradish sauce. How do you deep fry mushrooms and manage to keep them cold and wet inside the boring and unseasoned breading? The main course arrived and my date's prime rib was just OK. Not served with au jus or horseradish. Just adequately cooked meat with uninspired mashers. My rack of lamb arrived with about six bones. Though I ordered medium rare, each bone was cooked to it's own level of doneness ranging from raw to medium well. No excuse for this lack of quality. The couscous tasted pretty good but was a bit stiff. Still, it was the best thing on the plate. I will continue to be single as long as I continue taking my date to places like this. read more

Simply our local "GoTo" restaurant. We've been raving fans for years. Always excellent service and food. Would recommend anything on the menu. In season you can't beat a good glass of wine by the duck pond while enjoying the locally source meat and cheese tray. What a great way to forget about the world for an hour or so. Also I can't speak highly enough about the bison filet with wild mushrooms ( when available). My family and I came here the other day for my birthday dinner and let me tell you, the house is beautiful. I love old houses turned into restaurants. Our server was friendly, yet seemed a little nervous like it may have been her first week. I started with a sangria and man was it good! Exactly how sangria should taste. For my entree, I ordered the lobster dominica. Which is lobster ravioli with shrimp scampi in a creamy sauce. I hate to break it to all the 1-3 star reviewers out there, but it was awesome! That awesome is to be said in a drawn out, high pitched tone...in case anyone was wondering. Everyone at the table ordered something different but the response was all the same. Great food! Since it was my birthday, I got to choose a dessert off of the fancy table to enjoy after my dinner. Called to get a reservation since the website said reservations recommended but also wanted to find out how child friendly the establishment is as I have a 3 year old and 15 month old. My husband and I didn't want to take them there or make a reservation and waste anyone's time if it would end up being a nightmare for all parties involved, when I called I was immediately put on hold for a long time. As soon as the women picked up the phone I explained that we're new to the area and I didn't want to make a reservation without asking about children and the immediate response I got was "it's the holiday season, we're extremely busy, I have 6 phones calls on hold and a line of people waiting, are you going to make a reservation or did you want to look at a different day." She didn't even acknowledge my question and cut me off while I was talking, she was extremely rude. I can't believe any establishment would allow anyone to speak that way to a customer. I understand holiday rush, I do but I also didn't want to waste anyone's time and clearly I was too much of a burden for this employee to answer a simple question. Will never eat here. read more

Great meal. Ate at the bar where both bar tenders were friendly and helpful while running around trying to keep the entire restaurant supplied with drinks. Actually, kind of fun to see how efficient both ladies were while maintaining a sincere sense of humor. Went here for a birthday dinner last weekend! Pretty cool place, it has a home-y feel. The first drink I ordered was expired and flat, but they replaced it immediately. We then got the BLT flatbread, so good! Then for an entrée, I ordered the Chipotle Chicken & Shrimp. It wasn't bad, but I wish it had more of a kick to it! Been coming to Corkscrew Saloon for a couple years now and I've never been disappointed so when it was time to pick a place for dinner for a 28 year wedding anniversary with friends coming in from Illinois and New York, the decision was easy. Just as in past experiences, we weren't disappointed. Our party of six ordered a variety of entrees to include the filet minion, ahi tuna steak, bbq ribs, and the prime rib & shrimp dinner special. Our guests thoroughly their meals and the service from our server, Jenny, was nothing short of top notch. Although we were all full from dinner, the dessert selection looked too good to pass up. We enjoyed the tropical cake & chocolate peanut butter cake and our gluten free guest enjoyed a slice of the flourless chocolate cake.
