I just heard about this new hole in the wall Beaverton restaurant called Coredam, and after reading some of the reviews, I knew I had to check it out myself. Apparently everyone else got the memo at the same time because it was PACKED! 30 minutes before close there was still a line out the door. Service was a bit slow, which we expected considering how recently they opened, but everyone was so friendly that we didn't mind at all. We ordered the raw marinated crab, the hot stone bowl bibimbap, and the tteokbokki. Immediately we were blown away by the banchan. Both the variety and the quality were top notch. Once our meals came out, the standout was the bibimbap and the crab. I've been wanting to try raw marinated crab for nearly a year and it was just as refreshing and delightfully spicy as I imagined. The ambiance was a bit lacking but there were some beautiful paintings on the wall. I'm sure once they've been open a bit longer they'll find a way to knock that out of the park as well. read more

The food here was great, particularly the variety of banchan! The shrimp and crab banchan were our favorites, the meat in both was tender and the shrimp were in a sweet sauce while the crab had a salty spicy sauce. The noodle soup came with lots of noodles but not much beef and the kalbi was flavorful. The banchan came out very quickly and the food soon after, which we were surprised about after seeing the number of tables waiting for food. Luckily we were able to get our order in before some of the other tables waiting. The waitresses were friendly and working hard but somewhat unorganized and missed taking orders and bringing bills timely. They said they just opened a month ago so hopefully a better system will be in place. You could tell many of the tables saw the social media presence as they had to order the spicy rice cakes and crab that were publicized. We came in right at 5 on a Thursday and it was already busy, with about 3 tables open. By the time we left just after 6 there was a steady line outside. Be prepared to wait during peak hours, there is no real space to wait so it's pretty chaotic with customers waiting around the restaurant. There are a number of tasty Korean restaurants in the area and the banchan here is what sets it apart from others, the main dishes are comparable to other restaurants. After moving to Oregon, we really missed being around what tasted like authentic Korean food in L.A., but this restaurant has exactly that. The food is so perfectly filling and flavorful. For us Koreans, if we aren't cooking Korean food at home, we are probably going out for Korean food instead. So, after hearing of a "hot new spot" opening up in Beaverton, my dad and I found ourselves standing in the hour-long line waiting for a table, gazing at the lucky diners ahead of us with steaming meals. But eventually we did sit down, so here's what happened... The highlights: If a restaurant has black faux leather diner chairs, metal utensils, and the scent of sesame oil floating in the air, you know it's a true Korean restaurant. Right off the bat, Coredam's interior exudes nostalgia for me. The dishes, according to my father, "are some of the most authentic I've seen in a Korean restaurant around here". I'm pretty sure this is one of the only places in town you can find raw marinated crab, a ridiculously messy meal involving plastic gloves, succulently sweet and spicy meat, and a lot of gochugaru smeared on your face. Banchan here is plentiful and delightful, whisking my dad away to his youth in Seoul. I wish I could tell you exactly what we had that was so authentic, but maybe my dad can, so you can ask him. Also, the steamed rice was so delicious that my dad asked what brand of rice they use (apparently it's quite high end). I also appreciated that the kalbi (marinated short ribs) were not overly sticky sweet, like many other places prepare it, but rather a savory light flavor with just a hint of sweet. Nice. The improveables: Like I mentioned above, we waited at least an hour to be seated. I understand the excitement of a new restaurant, but the heavy crowds can also be a burden on the service. We again waited quite some time for our dishes to arrive. This is no fault of our servers; they were lovely people just trying to keep up with the demands of the diners. But despite the food being delicious, it wasn't necessarily any better tasting or higher quality than many other Korean restaurants in the area, which made the waiting game more frustrating. This brings up another point too - price points on some dishes don't seem to make sense with 1) what they are, and 2) the portion sizes. Our meal was overall much more expensive than having equivalent dishes at other places. I think that you can get Korean food that is just as tasty and well-made at other less expensive places, with less than half the wait time to eat it. All this being said, it was "Korean dad approved", which is a high praise if you know what I mean. I'm not sure why this spot blew up as much as it did (I blame "foodie instagramers", as usual), but I would give it another few months to chill out before going back. While very good with friendly service, it is much like many other Korean places in town, and will be worthwhile to return once the hype dies down. read more

This place pretends to be an authentic Korean restaurant, but it is not. Their spicy calamari was come out with uncooked veggies (onions and green onions), more importantly, the quality of rice is bad. Even worse, I almost crush my tooth because there was a small stone in the rice. A hilarious moment was that, after I let our server know about the stone, she told me that "it is usual to have a stone in the rice, so we cannot prevent that (in Korean)". She said "sorry" at the last minute, but that was like "shut up and stop it". The owner came to our table to apologize, but we will never come again to this place. Not worth to spend an hour to dine in. The service was too slow, and the dish that we ordered as a side (spicy calamari) at the same time with the main order came out at the time that we almost finished dining. read more

Wow, please go here. Not only is the food amazing, the service is one of the best I've seen. Everyone was so attentive and nice, refilled our tea and waters before we even finished it. We saw the owner come out and greet every table to see how everyone's doing. She even packed our leftovers for us! (We tried hard to not have her deal with the burden.) The sides were sooo good. I'm writing this while sitting in the parking lot after we ate because I could not wait to express my gratitude for this place. It was our first time having the raw marinated crab and it exceeded our expectations of it. The flavor was so good and it was so fresh. We also got the Kalbi and Tteokbokki. Both were so good and such good portions. ANDDDDD THE BANCHAN?? Hello?? So good!! It came with so many. A must for me is kimchi, and the flavor was so good. My partner who doesn't like kimchi said it was so good and had most of it. The one thing that made this place really stand out to us was the service. Every single person we talked to there was so sweet and made sure we were taken care of. We never had to ask for refills, extra napkins, or our bill. I even dropped my chopsticks twice and they made sure I got another pair right away both times lol. It was our first time visiting Oregon and my partner and I agreed this place had the nicest service here. Overall, it is such a cute small good energy place that I would come back to every time. Although the food here isn't bad, the vegetarian options are extremely limited. They also won't substitute any meats for tofu. We waited over an hour and a half, and was disappointed with the lack of options on the menu. The bibimbap was the simplest meal we ordered and it took half an hour for it to come out. The Seolleongtang I ordered was super good. Probably as good as what I had in Washington. The banchan had a bigger variety than other Korean restaurants I've had in Portland, and definitely tastier. Service was as good as expected for how new and busy they were. I make considerations for this because I understand the nature of new restaurant openings. We did was about 1 hr as the first wave turned over to get our seat, but once we were seated it felt pretty quick in general. Hoping eventually an electronic waitlist will be used that texts you when your table is ready. I think they have some organizational processes to work through for efficiency, but that will come in time. Highly recommend waiting a couple months if you don't want to wait an hour or more to be seated. Or get there before they open. There's about ten 4-top tables so, seating is limited. read more

The waitress missed a portion of our order and when we asked she argued with us but while we were placing the other we repeated everything to make sure and she kept trying to argue we said can we order now? for korean food in the beaverton/portland area, food is 5/5!! the soups are very flavorful, banchan is a great selection and all delicious. the banchan comes with a small portion of raw marinated crab, so note this if you're not sure whether you want a full portion for $21 but still want to try it. the only reason i didn't give this restaurant 5 stars was due to their service. we got there 45 minutes before they opened and we were third in line. because we were so close to the front of the line we got to place our order quickly and most of our food came out quickly, but if you are further in line be prepared to wait an hour or more. they did not have enough menus to give one to each person in the restaurant, and they took orders for food in the order that you were in the line prior to opening (which is fair, but that's why i say be ready to wait if you're further in line). they only had 1-2 servers when we went, so it takes them a long time to get around to everyone. overall - an amazing restaurant & i am excited to come back!! read more

The three times I've been here the food was bland. I got one soup and didn't like it but I didn't want to complain so I ordered another but the second was also very bland. Also asked for the first soup to be extra extra spicy but it wasn't and it tasted super watery. Made my friend also try and she kinda couldn't believe how bland the soft tofu soup was as well. There's just so many other good Korean places around that I don't think this place is worth it, unless for the marinated crab. I would never try a soup here again and waste my money. It's also very over priced for the amount of food you get. I do like the variety of side dishes but I'm not going to go somewhere where I only like the side dishes and not the actual meal. Really wanted to like this place but the three times I went I was not impressed and the food hit worst with each visit. One of the best Korean restaurants in Beaverton! Their food is amazing and everything taste so good. Our favorite dishes are the dolsot bibimbop, both the spicy and non spicy cold noodles (only served during summer time), and their kalguksu. They also give so much banchan (side dishes) and they're all so tasty. We love coming here and the service is top tier. The lady always remembers us and greets us so happily. My friend took me here and they said it was an authentic place for Korean food. We came at 6 pm on a Friday, and the line was very long, we waited for 40 minutes. The seating area is small, and they have about 3 servers. The lady who managed the waitlist was visibly overwhelmed. I think you need to give them more time to get it together. Food wise, my group ordered Soondubu, Tteokbokki, LA Kalbi, and Stir Fried Spicy Octopus. Honestly, there are other places that charge similar amount with way more food. The taste is OK. There are some special menu that I think will be better than the standard menu that we ordered, so if I ever visit here again, I will order those. One amazing thing that I had for the first time in a Korean restaurant was the spicy raw marinated crab. It came as part of the banchan. I was surprised they had that. The banchan is definitely catered towards more traditional Korean style with more pickles and raw seafoods (there was shrimp, squid, and the said crab). Other places would normally have potato salad, some brocolli, candied sweet potatoes, and napa cabbage kimchi, but they don't have them here. I thought that was impressive. read more

The place is no frills. The service is by Korean ladies so you know it's legit. The food was good, though not everything was a hit, especially the more blended fusion things. I would stick with tried and true traditional food here or very popular treats like tteokbokki given the really long waits right now. I understand the hype. As a table of 7 we knew there was going to be a wait, so we wrote down our name & number and walked a couple blocks down to a local bar. After an hour, we went back to check where we were in line to find that our name was "called", but they didn't attempt to call our phone number. As we asked one of the nice ladies about it, they were accommodating and made it work. We were sat in a record of time in two separate tables since the store itself isn't great for big groups. We love Korean food so we're excited to try this place especially after all the high reviews. We arrived about 15 minutes early but waited in a long line. Missed the first group of seating so put our name on a wait list and left to find a drink. We got a call a little more than an hour later. After arriving, we learned that they were out of most beers, the dumplings, and the Korean pancakes. It was a Saturday so we were surprised that they hadn't stocked up. Oh well. The servers were very understanding. We ordered the spicy calamari, bulgolgi, kalbi, and bibambap. These are our usual favorites. We were very underwhelmed by the flavors. The same with the banchan. They were minuscule and the greens had no spices just steamed. Maybe this is just another style of Korean food that we were unaware of. But, we definitely prefer to taste the fabulous flavors that Korean cooking uses. Luckily there are other places that have what we prefer. read more
