WORST ONE WAY communication in my experience !! Requested quote for power wash (with pictures). Received reply saying their normal response time was 1-2 hours. FIVE DAYS later with no response emailed them again. Got boilerplate excuse (busy season, miscommunication, blah, blah) saying I'd have a quote by email. I followed up TWO DAYS later, and got a quote with a two page list of conditions, one of which required a 50% deposit with NO COMMITMENT for date(s) the service would be provided. Also they listed credit card as an acceptable payment method but DID NOT reveal that they assessed a 3% service charge (I had to ASK in a separate communication). Cannot comment on quality of the actual service I was requesting because I declined the quotation. If they CANNOT communicate in the quotation stage, how am I supposed to trust them by just GIVING them money in advance and no commitment for the work? read more

Update. Yesterday April 28th, had a professional company come out and begin the process of staining my deck...again. Less than one year after core Improve stained my deck after replacing entire flooring(550 sq feet). I am paying an additional $2,600 to have this done. Stain was coming up ALL over the entire deck and looked awful. No one and I mean no one could believe my deck looked this bad months after having it stained. Spent over 12k to have this job done and it looked so bad I have to go through this process again. DO NOT USE CORE IMPROVE FOR ANY DECKING WORK. THEY USE INFERIOR STAIN NO MATTER WHAT THEY TELL YOU. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY. CROOKS. EVEN BBB DOES NOT RECOGNOCE THEM AS LEGITIMATE. Would not use. Too long to type. Just find another company refurbish or stain deck. This is an update to previous post. Contacted core Improve 2/10/26 and was told basically tough luck and " not to contact them again". Do not believe one word other in the reply to my review other than I paid a ton of money for an inferior job. Only time payment was delayed was in response to the inferior work. Their response doesn't explain why they stain on my 12k deck job didn't hold the stain for less than a year. These guys are bad news. Use a BBB approved company not Core Improve. I now need to hire a new, reputable deck restoration company and have deck properly refinished and stained. This will cost me an additional 2500 bucks. I hired this company to pressure wash, sand and paint the railings/stain the floor in two coats, possible with transparent stain to enjoy the beauty of the wood. Attached some pictures of the process... The sanding left more or less the railing areas undone, and exposed possible rotted wood... The sanding dust covered the perimeter... the pressure wash permanently discolored my stucco wall. When asked about the paint and stain, they would allow only one choice. Second color choice would be $200 more... I knew I was done! I brought my neighbor's sander and finished what they had left undone! See picture! I cleared the rotted wood in three areas and filled them... Mind you, I am 71 year old woman, and this was the first sanding job I have ever done in my life! And the manager said that it cannot be done! The work was substandard and rushed, and could have cost me more than I ever expected. Avoid Core Improve Hired them to restore my cedar deck, built just last year. They were supposed to power wash, sand, and apply two coats of stain. Instead, they did spot sanding, uneven staining, and skipped the second coat entirely. Lattice and railings were also left partially untreated. When I raised issues, they responded with threats instead of fixing anything. I have photos and video. Unprofessional and careless -- not recommended. I stand by my review -- and I have detailed photos and video clearly showing incomplete work, including: Spot sanding only, not full prep as promised Uneven and patchy staining across the deck No second coat of stain applied, despite this being part of the agreement Raw wood left untreated, especially on the lattice and railings Yes, I initially paid -- based on the assumption you'd return to finish the job. When that didn't happen and the work proved clearly substandard, I canceled the check within the allowable timeframe. You were not denied access -- I asked for an independent evaluation before allowing further work, which you ignored. I did attempt to involve a third-party contractor, but the damage was already evident and the photos speak for themselves. The so-called "Final Demand Letter" included aggressive language and arrived after weeks of unanswered concerns. I'm not the only person who's documented issues with this company. Although there were a few times where I had to reach out to them, they have been very responsive nonetheless. They are that quick with response times as indicated on this site. I recently had holiday lights and permanent lights installed at my home. I am very happy with the beautiful holiday scene that they created. The reason that I did not give a 5 star was the frustration that occurred during the scheduling process. It was pretty disorganized and I honestly was not sure that I would be getting lights until the contractor arrived. The other issue that I had was that the desired wiring color for the lights was not available and would take additional days to receive. Finally I was told that it would take 2 hours but it took close to 7. I have to say though that the contractor professional and courteous and he did a beautiful job. read more

After receiving 5 different estimates, I selected Core Improve to powerwash, replace boards, and restain my deck and front stoop. Their estimate was in the middle. My first 2 Core contacts spoke English very well. Imagine my surprise when the 3 Core workers showed up, unable to speak English--well, the one who "did" used google translate on his phone. I must say these 3 fellas were diligent workers! They stayed on the job until it was done. When I requested some boards to be retouched, they quickly did so. I was a little disappointed that there was hardly any leftover stain for me to use on some other areas (flower windowbox). But ok. The next day I discovered one repair needed to be dealt with as it was problematic, and Roman (I think) came out that day to make it right. He did an outstanding job. Two days later, as I used my front door to leave, I happened to look at my windowbox. To my surprise, I discovered WHY there was no stain left! The guys, when working on restaining the front stoop, had also taken the initiative to restain the flowerbox and the 4 sets of shutters on the front side of the house! I waited for rain to come so I could see how the work held up. GREAT!! My only complaint was that 2 of the deck boards are not the same as the others and we have to be careful not to trip now when walking on the deck. I should have had them make that right sooner, but I didn't. The job was done. However, next staining (if not sooner), those boards are a safety issue and will need to be replaced with boards that are the right size as the rest of the deck boards. Overall, I would hire these guys again. They aim to please and are quick, thorough, and diligent---and willing to come back and make things right. Tech showed up and was done power washing my entire home in 25 minutes. In addition missed spots (because you can't do a whole house in 25 minutes). I asked the tech about it and he said he was afraid it would damage the siding.... hmm? You just did my whole house, that was the point. He departed without performing any work. I did not receive a call back and after 2 days I had to call for an update. 1 Day after I called for the update I received a call from Core Improve telling me that the price just went up by another $1050. I assumed that Core Improve knew what they were doing, when they quoted the job, only to find out they did not. After I was informed that the original quote was no long accurate I cancelled the job. This company operates under another name to do holiday lights installations. We have a corner lot house. This company drew up a contract for $1440 with a picture showing where the lights would go on the smaller side of the house. The longer side, which contains the front door, was conveniently blocked by a tree in the contract. I honestly think this was a misunderstanding. The reason I'm leaving such a negative review is due to the customer service my wife and I received afterwards. We got an immediate "all sales are final" response. We had them quote the other side of the house too and they said $2200! So $3640 for what has to be 2-3 hours of work. The lights are only hung on the roof line and on a couple windows. These numbers are a complete scam. The lights are cheap (and we only rent them, not buy them), so they're charging about $455 an hour in labor per worker by my estimates. Bottom line is this company is out to take your money, not earn repeat customers. Avoid them at all costs. read more

I needed to have my gutters cleaned, as I noticed that they were blocked or something. I called Core Improve. I really liked the prompt response to my call as well as the communication. I definitely think they have this part down to a science. The emails and text responses are stellar. I don't really have any complaint other than that I felt out of the loop after the technicians finished their work on the gutters. They left and I received a text message telling me they had completed the job. I personally would have liked to hear from them directly. However I guess this is the nature of their business. BAIT & SWITCH SCAM: This business scammed my small condo association. We contacted the company regarding power washing and staining our three level wood deck. Initially they gave us a quote for only the top side of the deck and we told them we wanted all surfaces of the deck stained. The underside of the third floor deck is the "ceiling" of the second floor deck, etc., so obviously we wanted it to all match. They gave a quote and we agreed and we made a deposit of 1/2 of the total cost. The day they came to stain the deck they said they would not stain the underside unless we paid twice as much as we had agreed. We insisted we had already resolved this issue and read the email history showing what we had agreed upon and the worker called the office. At first they agreed to stain the entire deck as that was what was agreed upon but then backed out and left and said we'd have to contact the owner about our deposit. The owner was out of town for several days so we found another business to complete the project and now the owner has insisted on stealing a good portion of our deposit. Avoid this business or they may try and scam you as well. read more
