This outfit is despicable, deplorable & abusive beyond description. After asking them to write an…read moreestimate to do a simple gutter diversion job at arm's length, & telling them for the city to reimburse, they have to provide an Estimate with a total for labor & parts. Instead, they can't bother to figure out what 2 simple gutter pieces cost, & wanting to fill the holes w/hydraulic cement (insane), they just list a labor charge, & ask for 10% down, labor & material billed daily, & a credit card on file, I called them to speak to a total incompetent who then hands it over to Dick Hoerr, who called me a "social idiot", and a "moron", & that he'd never do a job for me. As if I would EVER consider a contractor who would call me filthy names & doesn't even know how to do the job. You don't pour 20-30 ft. of hydraulic cement in the holes - you cover the holes with rubber or aluminum & then coat that w/a small amount of hydraulic cement. Then, in his answer to one of the numerous negative reviews, he writes: "We are the highest rated handyman company on Angie's in the United States and we are located here in Chicago. I personally live in the Chicagoland Area. Simply put this is one of those landlords that attempts to beat down labor after they work on his home in an effort to maximize his profit. He says one thing in a review and then did the exact opposite." BEWARE and DON'T USE THEM!

I had an awful experience with IBI. The entire project was mismanaged (3 different project managers…read morein a 6 month period) with poor communication, poor workmanship, and an owner (Tony) who would rather battle his clients than right any wrongdoing by his company. We had them do three different areas of tilework; kitchen backsplash, powder room floor, and a 225 sq ft sunroom. All three areas had to be redone as the workmanship was such a poor quality. I had to hire a separate company to fix the powder room floor after IBI botched the job twice (see white mosaic tile picture). The kitchen backsplash tile spacing was extremely uneven (the installer used torn pieces of construction paper for spacers) and had to be ripped out and reinstalled. The tile spacing in the sun room (10" dark gray hexagon tiles) was off by as much as .5" in places and tiles had to be removed and reinstalled. The grout color was mixed incorrectly and way lighter than it was supposed to be. On top of all that, the charged us more than double industry standard for the work. We eventually had to take them to arbitration to receive credits that were owed. Almost all of the work was subcontracted. The only work that IBI actually did was install new cabinets. The kitchen was gutted and their "designer" created a layout that could not fit a standard sized refrigerator. They did not realize this until everything was done and the fridge didn't fit in the space allotted. We were left with a damaged fridge (dented by IBI in the moving process - another matter that was settled in arbitration) that was sticking out 3 feet into our kitchen for months while we battled to get the issue corrected. They eventually had to rip out the cabinets and modify the design so that we could have a standard sized fridge. Save yourself a major headache and avoid Incredible Builders. Hire someone else who can do the job right the first time. Also, be cautious of the positive reviews that are sure to follow this one. Tony has been known to hassle customers who had an ok experience and pressure them to write positive reviews to save face for the company. After a water leak, I was referred to MG Residential by Green Water & Fire. Mishka came over and…read morewalked me through what needed to be done. He even took a 3D walkthrough render video for the insurance company (I wish I would've cleaned up first but...). I felt really good about the recommendation because my ceiling was soundproofed and Mishka was super knowledgeable about reinstalling it the correct way. And then...we waited. The insurance company was moving like molasses, Mishka was very helpful in telling me how I could put some fire under them to get it done. During the wait, I started a DIY bedroom renovation, where I was soundproofing one wall. Mishka actually came over and helped me come up with a game plan for what I needed for that project as well. During that reno, I noticed my ceiling was super wavy, Mishka said his guys could handle that for me. So they (Jean and Carlos, I believe) came to demo and re-drywall my bedroom ceiling. The price was above what 2 other guys quoted me, but I felt more comfortable with Mishka by that point. I was still DIY soundproofing and they told me some of my metal studs weren't gonna cut it. So I put different resilient channels up and hung the drywall myself. (I told Mishka I really wanted to try to hang drywall for the first time and he walked me through the steps.) Mishka had the guys mud and tape it for me after the ceiling was done (bc I know my limitations). Insurance took 90 days!!!!!!! But when the funds were sent, Mishka had the same guys come do that work. It took them 2.5 days. My bedroom ceiling, my kitchen ceiling, and my soundproof DIY wall...ALL look amazing. The communication with Maggie and Mishka via text (and phone calls) was great. They protected my floors and furniture well. I'm very happy and will most likely be calling Mishka again when another one of my DIY projects goes awry.
