Well... Where do I begin? I read the "5 star" reviews and it's like night and day! In my opinion, Craig is a con artist. I had redone a few things around my property and wanted to add two exhaust fans. My contractor had already completed two and had run outta time since it was last minute, but planned on coming back the following week. It's a heat wave and I wanted it done asap. I called Craig and he said he'd be out here the following day between 9-10. I texted him at 830 and he replied he'd be there at 10. He arrived at 10 and began what I would describe as the most ridiculous shakedown attempt on me that I ever had! 1. He "misread" the amps on the fan (0.14) and told me on maybe... ten explanations that the fan required 14 amps of power (a whole kitchen). That he needed to enter my attic, cut through the wall, install a new breaker, because the fan "may burn out your whole box." I pointed out that the fan needed 0.14 amps... and he said that he forgot his glasses... 2. He said that it would cost $770 in labor alone (one fan), when I questioned that price he came back with $540... (I was pretty much done at this point but wanted to confirm this bullshit). 3. I called the fan manufacturer, who sounded annoyed by Craig (speaker phone) and said that the fan required 80 watts of power... "the same as a light bulb". We ended that conversation and Craig said "nice catch" to me. yeah... Craig began to scroll through pictures of "previous" jobs and began to brag about his electrical knowledge. I found it akin to a 13 year old on the playground bragging about his girlfriend that lives in another town. In my opinion, he has neither experience or skill. Combined with ignorance and a thieving mindset... 4. I ask him politely to leave, he kept talking, I asked him to leave again, he kept talking about his experience. I asked him him firmly that he needed to grab his stuff and leave immediately, kept talking... I pointed at the door and raised my voice and told him to get out! He began to whine and picked his stuff up and began to beg me not to give him a negative yelp review... that he would compensate me!!! Wow!!! I told him, I didn't want his money.... UNREAL. I was thinking through all this how a woman might have felt afraid at this point... I would avoid at ALL COST. btw... my contractor charged me $300 for both fans... he'll be here in a few days to install the other two. read more

We had a AC unit installed and was excited to get it started. For some reason it was not turning on! It was late and all I wanted to do is turn on my brand new AC. Our lights went out over the weekend we called core because they were the only ones available. They quoted us $150-200 depending on how long it takes to trouble shoot the problem. Was so disappointed. He was first late, and a minor thing is that I was not given a discount when I told him I found him on Yelp. He was the one who said, "You found me on Yelp! that's great, you get a discount" We had Craig do an extra inspection for the electrical at our house when we ere in escrow, after our home inspection noted to have it done, in early December 2015. We paid for this extra inspection, and when he was his inspection, it did not seem like he knew what he was doing at times. He was testing the current in some of the areas of the house and he would say, " oo there is no electricity running through here" then 2 minutes later would say, " oo ya its bc I turned the power off" He didn't even leave an invoice for us because the one he had was all dirty and wrinkled, and we also needed a write up of the repairs for our realtor. I asked him about 4 times for the write up of the work that needed to be completed, and the last time I asked him he promised me he was going to send it to me when he got home. Almost 4 months later, and still nothing. We could not us any of the electric problems in negotiations for our asking price. read more

I was in a dark place... (I laughed after I wrote this) I was doing a little home improvement when I got in way over my head with the electrical. I had a complex (for me) circuit powering three different lights with three sets of three way switches. I spent an entire day trying to figure it out myself with online diagrams. Then it started to get dark outside and I realized I needed professional help. So I cracked open Yelp like I always do when I have to spend more than a few dollars. I limited my search to affordable, local, five star companies. I called four or five electrical companies. Some were big with call centers and secretary's who only had appointments beginning a week out. Some were small; The number dialed straight to the owner. Either way, no one was willing to help me when I needed it (right now!). I don't blame them. It was 6 PM. I probably wouldn't have helped me either. Then I called Craig with Core Electric. He was different. Just talking over the phone I could tell he really wanted to help me. In fact, he was truly interested in my problem as if he actually liked what he does and thinks the paycheck is a perk. He too was unable to come over because early that morning he was involved in a head on collision and his car was destroyed, and he was working another project he anticipated would take him late into the evening. Most guys would have let the stress and situation get to them and be abrasive and impatient with people over the phone. Craig took the time to listen to me, he looked at pictures and amateur diagrams I texted to him, and he actually walked me through the problem over the phone!?!? What? This is 2016 and old fashioned customer service doesn't exist anymore right? Wrong. With Craig you get old fashioned customer service. I know I will call him for any future electrical work and I'll recommend him to everyone I know. This was the worst! About 1 month and a half ago Craig come over to our place as an "emergency charge" for after hours. He did so much "troubleshooting" to no avail. Finally, per my husband who was following him around, he pulled some wire and our electricity magically came on. He kept saying how happy he was with his work. Fast forward to today. We had the same issue. So being that he knew our problem, we went with him again. He scheduled for noon because that's when a drywaller was available to join him. Well, he shows up. No drywaller with him as he said he cancelled. He then began the same process as last time even though he already did this last time and already knew what he needed to do (hence bringing the drywaller). He said more than 3 times how this was going to take him 6-7 hours. In an hour and a half, that's all that got done. He just talked my husbands ear off and repeated himself endlessly. Finally, He told my husband that he would have to pay him for this and place a deposit for him to come back tomorrow, possibly with a drywaller. My husband asked him to leave, and after a while, he did. He seemed like he had beginners knowledge at best when it comes to electrical work. Don't use. read more

On July 6, 2011 my custom framing and mirror business was almost completely burned to the ground by roofers, destroying almost all of the inventory and leaving the rest to smell like smoke. Our light wasn't working, so we thought we would replace it with a new light. However after installing the light, it still wouldn't work. We then contacted Craig, and he was able to come the very next day. When he got here, he switched on the light, and it suddenly started working! We were super embarrassed, but Craig was very understanding and helpful, and only charged us a small fee for making him come all the way out to our house. He also finished up the installation of the chandelier and told us that if the problem came back, that he would credit the small fee toward the next visit. I learned a good Life Lesson today - read and FOLLOW the instructions! For the past week I've been trying to get a Lights of America light-sensor activated porch light to work with no luck. I was replacing one that went bad, and bought the same model. The first replacement I received and hooked up (only 2 wires how hard could it be) and turned it on. Of course it didn't work because it was light outside, so I put my finger in front of the light sensor and it still didn't turn on. So after about an hour of trying to fix the problem, switch wire connections, etc I sent it back to Amazon and ordered another one thinking this one was defective. Today I got the second replacement and hooked the two wires up - black to black and white to white. Flip the switch, put my finger over the sensor, and NOTHING! Baffled, I got my battery tester (I don't have an actual electricity tester) and tested the lines from the house to socket, I got activity on the meter, so I figured it wasn't bad wiring from the house since there was electricity making it out to the fixture. But for some reason I couldn't get it to turn on my new light! Frustrated, I called Core and the owner Craig said he didn't have any pressing appointments until later, and was able to come out in about 45 minutes. He came out commented how close it was, he only lives 5 miles away. Now Craig is an interesting guy - cool, calm, hustler. I kind of dig his weird sense of humor. He told me it would be $135 troubleshooting fee. For the risk, time to drive (5 minutes!), etc. He nearly gave me a heart attack! I thought he'd charge me $20-40 for a 10 minute job, but no. After a long haggle, he dropped the price to $95, giving me a "neighborly discount". After a couple minutes, he cut back and restripped the two wires coming out of the wall/fixture ("oxidized wires - corrected" was the description in the invoice). He attached these to the new porch light, mounted it, put a piece of tape over the light sensor, and turned on the switch. Lo and behold it worked! Job done. Craig proceeded to clean up. He offered to check my wall switch and breaker box to make sure things were in tip top shape, and also because I'm sure he knew how easy the job was he just did. Craig did mention that there was some burning around the porch fixture, and it was probably due to "bad contacts between the wires". After he tightened 4 screws in the light switch on the wall, he opened the breaker panel outside and tightened about 6 more screws ("panel tune-up" listed on the invoice), I paid him, thanked him and he left. I proceed to put my finger over the light sensor on the porch light and it didn't work. Oh no!! I thought. I took it apart and made sure all the connections were still intact. Everything looked good. So I decided to put a piece of black tape over the sensor - to my amazement, the light turned on!!!! So using my finger to block the sensor didn't work, but a piece of tape did? None of these fixtures were defective after all, I just needed to tape over the sensor to confirm they worked - just like the instructions said!!! So yes Craig was able to get my light to work, when I wasn't. The job consisted of stripping two 16 gauge wires, connecting them to the fixture with twist-on connectors, and he charged me $95 to do that! I learned that I could have avoided all the time and money if I had just followed the instructions. Craig seems like a good guy, kinda bad jokes, but I'm kind of bummed that I got charged so much to do so little. read more

Was having problems with lights and outlets going on and off sporadically . We were concerned that it might be a fire hazard . We had an electrician friend look at the panel and he said we would probably have to replace the entire breaker box with Main Meter . That sounded very expensive . We called Core Electric and they were able to repair the panel without replacing it . They saved us thousands of dollars and even gave us a great warranty on the repairs !
