Although I've lived in this area for 21 years, this was my first visit to this location of Cora's. I had the Beef-Beef Skillet which includes beef strips, beef patty, potatoes, hollandaise sauce, toast, and an egg. It was tasty and very filling but $40 for breakfast for two people is a bit steep. The service was good and the restaurant was clean, spacious, and bright. Not sure I'll be back.

Great place for a Sunday brunch! Could Not go wrong. I went in with my daughter around noon and ordered a coffee, mango banana smoothy, spinach/cheddar omelette, and scrambled eggs for my daughter. Boy, did she ever love her meal! I enjoyed the meal but felt that they have really Cut down on the fruits they give you with your meal. I did have sufficient potatoes. I would defiantly be going back as they are consistent with the meals!

Dropped by at 6:30 AM on our way to Ottawa. We were the first one to arrive and they making the coffee when the 1st customer comes in so it will be fresh. We ordered the 2 eggs 2 sauage breakfast and the bagel with mixed fruits. The egg sauage breakfast is ok. But the Mixed Fruit is great! Awesome! Wonderful! There are so many different fruits there - strawsberry - Kiwi - Mango - Red Apple - Green Apple - Star Fruit - Cantuople - Honey Dew - Grapes The presentation is great. This is the only restaurant that I been to that offer all these fresh ones...! This is what I call variety and freshness.. It took a long time to arrive though... since they have to cut up the fruits when I place my order. I wish I can have a fruit cup everyday... it is both delicious and healthy! The service is friendly and attentive.. My coffee cup always got filled up without asking! They accepts all credit cards.

I came here for breakfast a while ago and not only did the food taste good but the waiter was very nice to me and my family. I came for breakfast here and our server was one of the nicest waiters I have ever met. He always had a nice tone to his voice every time he spoke to us and had a sample on his face. I wish I remembered his name so I could give him credit. The Caucasian looking man made our day and it means a lot that he was happy serving us!

Cora's has a smoothie bowl now!! No acai unfortunately but still great! It's a nice change from all the carb heavy and meat options available. The smoothie base is a kale and mango (but you can't taste the kale) topped with granola, bananas, chia seeds, strawberries and coconut chips. The bowl was just the perfect amount of food for me - very light and refreshing. Would definitely order it again although I'd love to see more options for the base smoothie.

Love this place, everything on the menu is good. The service is great I just wish the place was bigger. The last time I tried to go there was a big lineup to get in. This is the best place to go for breakfast or brunch.

I have the strawberry Avalanche - Strawberries on French toast. A great addition to the menu. The wife had eggs benny and loved the eggs cooked to order.

With a closing time of 4:00pm, their menu features (all day) breakfast items, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, and a few entrees. There's a little bit of everything. I ordered the Eggs Jenny, a variation of Eggs Benedict - two poached eggs on house made crab cakes with hollandaise sauce and home fries. The crab cakes, made with real crab (not surimi), were good but maybe not outstanding. The eggs were perfectly poached to my liking. The home fries were also good. The execution of this dish was very good but the hollandaise sauce was disappointing. It was thick, lumpy, and bland. I tried not to eat it. The restaurant was clean and the service was very good. The rest of the menu looks interesting enough, with reasonable pricing for me to come back. I just won't order anything with hollandaise.

If you're GF Not Worth Jumping Through the Hoops…read more When I found this place online, I was so excited. When one must follow a gluten-free diet, it is so nice to find places where you can eat what everyone else gets to enjoy. This was anything but enjoyable. I was planning a little Halloween getaway to Kingston and searching for a new and exciting breakfast place to stop on my way there. I found Heaffles and read through their website--I'm always very careful and vet my restaurants before the trip and plan food meticulously, you have to when you cannot eat gluten. The site stated that if you want a gluten free waffle, you must call 24 hours ahead of time. I immediately thought that was ridiculous (that eliminates any possibility of a GF person walk-in from eating there) but messaged them on Instagram. I asked if I could message then and schedule or did a I have to call. They told me I must call the day before. Pain in the bum, but I set a reminder in my phone and did so. The next day, I show up. Such a cute place and the breakfast that kicks off a trip always makes me so happy. We don't eat out much at all, living so rurally. It had also been ages since I'd enjoyed a GF waffle, so excitement was high. This place has a ton of potential. The seating is cute, the bathrooms clean and so beautifully decorated. There is even a little cubby with cushions that would make it feel as though one was having breakfast in bed. I really did fall in love with the space. There didn't appear to me to be a traditional server comes to your table. You walk in and place your order at the counter. I ordered a Flat White to drink along with a water and a gluten-free coconut rush. The young lady at the counter was very quick to tell me that they had a customer coming in to get a GF waffle and that they only had enough batter for one waffle and that I would need to try again and call 24 hours beforehand. Right before I told her I was that customer, my brain was like, what? You have enough batter for ONE waffle??? I make GF stuff all the time. It is NOT that expensive. And what if you mess up that ONE waffle (and they did because she didn't listen to me)? I said, "Oh, I called yesterday." And I had driven a very long way. I would hate for anyone else to do that and end up disappointed. After that, I was allowed to order my waffle. Coconut is my favourite sweet flavour, but it came with strawberries and strawberry syrup. I told her THREE times I didn't want the strawberries or the syrup. Strawberry jam, jelly syrup...I hate them all, also cannot stand cooked fruit. She told me she could put the strawberries on the side and that they were uncooked. I said that was okay, but reiterated AGAIN that I do not want or like the strawberry syrup. I thought I might get my drinks at the counter, but she said they would bring everything to my table. I sat within view of the counter by the window. I assumed, as at most places, the drinks would come out first. I had started on the Terra Health heartburn kit to kick my PPI script and needed to take the supplements before eating. Some ladies came in after me and they got their drink order while I sat and waited. The waffle came out, and I was too panicked by not taking my supplements to pay that much attention and told them I needed some water and that I didn't have my coffee yet. They came back in a few minutes and in the meantime, I saw that the waffle I'd paid nearly $30 for, along with a very tiny flat white coffee, was drenched...every inch in yucky strawberry syrup. I'm a silver lining kind of girl, so I told myself to try it, maybe my tastes have changed. Nope. It was this strong, chemically strawberry flavour that made me gag. Talk about disappointed. At this point it was late in the morning and I was starving. I opened up the waffle (the size, even if they'd managed to listen to my order was not worth what I paid) and ate some of the filling out. The only waffle that had no nasty syrup was at the fold and I ate the four bites I could. The coffee was literally 3 swallows. I left hungry and angry. And in all that time, no one ever came back to ask me how the order was...and I knew I couldn't send it back because that was their ONE GF waffle batter of the day. I had to stop at Wendy's and spend another $10 for a bunless burger after. I would never go back. The ask and not having the batter available is beyond RIDICULOUS, despite the fact they don't listen, which makes a GF person VERY nervous. You couldn't pay me to eat there again. Poor service, poor value and food I couldn't stomach. Not for me.

Afterwards, I drove around the plaza to figure out what businesses were there. I was happy to see Fuwa Fuwa Dessert Cafe. I had flagged coming here. Well, it took a gathering of three friends with me to visit this cafe last Thursday. I had only visited the Fuwa Fuwa location in Vaughan. This one in Pickering is special for a bunch of reasons. There was lots of parking at 6 pm on a Thursday evening that was threatening freezing rain. Luckily, we only got rain. Yay! I backed into a tight parking spot. The tight part was due to a snowbank that was in front of the row of parking. I threw out some garbage from my car into a receptacle near this business. I saw one of my friends in the cafe already. Another one said hi to me when I grabbed the door. Our third friend came in a few minutes later. We are a punctual group. It was nice. I looked at the desserts display that I was sitting next to. First, it's deadly to be that close to baked goods. Second, there was a lot of ube. This cafe has Filipino and Japanese influences in its menu offerings. It's cool to me! I had meant to get something with ube in it. I need to go back! We were here for dinner. Normally, you think of fluffy, giggly pancakes when you're at Fuwa Fuwa. This restaurant had a Japanese eats menu. We got the following Japanese combos: - Combo A for two people: - Teriyaki pork katsu rice - Chicken karaage curry - Two miso soups - Two cans of pop - Combo B for two people: - Udon noodle soup - Teriyaki chicken karaage - Two iced matcha lattes We shared the mains and soups family-style, so we could sample everything. Our mains and miso soups came out first. The drinks came out last. The teriyaki pork katsu on rice was yummy. The katsu was crispy on the outside and perfect inside. The rice was fluffy and had some green onions and furikake (dried seaweed flakes). One friend wanted more furikake on it. The rest of us were fine with what we got. I've been into Japanese curry for the longest time. This place made it well. The chicken karaage was crispy, as the curry was separate on the plate and so flavourful. We got rice. It had this sesame shredded cabbage as a side. It was yummy, but we all suggested that it needed red cabbage to add a colourful pop to the dish. We gave the most feedback on the miso soup. It was salty. I ended up taking water that I had filled a cup up at the station in the back and diluted my soup. It was less salty. The problem was that my water was cold and it made my soup cooler. The owner on the store apologized. We did a taste test between a batch of miso soup from yesterday that he had brought to our table versus the saltier one today. I tasted both. Yesterday's didn't have a strong miso flavour. Today's was too salty. I ended mixing the two. The miso flavour was perfect, but it was on the salty side. We got two cans of Coke zero. I can do Coke zero. One of my friends can't. We ended up trading one of the cans for regular Coke, which he likes. My can was cold. It didn't cause a sugar spike. All good. I also had one of the iced matcha lattes. I was thirsty from my miso soup. I loved it. It was cold. The matcha flavour was excellent. It was creamy from the milk in it. Three of us had the udon noodle soup. One of our friends can't have beef. The beef was thinly sliced and yummy. We all loved the chewiness of the udon. The broth wasn't overly salty. I liked it. The jammy egg was perfect. The green onions enhanced this dish. We got teriyaki chicken karaage. I love that it had kewpie mayo drizzled on top. The chicken was moist inside and crunchy on the outside. This dish came with rice and a runny fried egg. Delicious! We ordered a couple of jiggly pancakes: - Berry - Matcha It was my first time having the berry. It was excellent. I loved the berry compote poured all over the pancakes, which absorbed everything like a sponge. The pancakes were fluffy, jiggly, and delicious. I've had the matcha pancakes before. I loved the matcha sauce and the strawberry slices. It was nice having them again. I used the washroom before we called in a night. There are two single stalls. The one that I used was decent. I loved visited this cafe. It was nice spending time with friends over dinner and jiggly pancakes. I will return for the ube goodies! (115)

Tip: Sign up for Perkins rewards for discounts on food and more…read more Two Saturdays ago, I was in the area and noticed this Perkins across the street. I don't frequent Pickering as much as I used to. It was new to me. I flagged checking it out in my head. Last Saturday, I dropped by for a late lunch after completing my errands. My first visit at a Perkins restaurant was in Winnipeg. I loved going there after a midnight shift to get pancakes and more. Sadly, Winnipeg doesn't have any Perkins eateries left. When I lived in the States, there was one Perkins in Rochester, MN. It's still there. I'm so glad. As a resident, I went there for a team lunch and when I was peckish for some breakfast. This eatery is in a plaza. It's next to Shawarma Royale and across from Dairy Queen, which are also new to me. I parked steps away from the entrance. It's wasn't all that busy at 2:30 pm on a Saturday. I walked in. I saw the sign to wait to be seated. I did while taking photos. It didn't take long for a nice woman to come over. She brought me to a booth. I thanked her. This woman wasn't my server, but did get me a Diet Coke. It was a bit off in flavour. I'm not sure if it was the ratio of syrup to carbonated water, or maybe the water. My refill was much better and the carbonation was great. Patricia would end up being my server. She came over and asked if I was ready to order. I was! I got these items: - French toast with scrambled eggs and sausage links - Diet Coke She came over to bring a warm bottle of maple syrup. It was a nice touch. My food didn't take long to arrive. It looked yummy. I thanked her and went to town. The French toast slices were excellent. They had a bit of powdered sugar on top. Not a lot. Just the right amount. I slathered on some butter on each slice and then poured the warm maple syrup on top. Delicious! They were crispy and chewy where they should be. The sausage links were nicely browned and had some nice crispness. Yummy! I liked my scrambled eggs. Perfect! No complaints here. The only downside was that my server didn't really check on me, except for the Diet Coke refill when I was practically done with my meal. She checked on everyone else, which was a bit odd. When I got my drink refill, she gave me my bill. What if I wanted a slice of chocolate french silk pie? You didn't ask. You simply presumed that I was done. I signed up for Perkins rewards. I have some perks that are waiting or me to use. Although Perkins is American, I've noticed that this eatery wants to tell you that it's Canadian-owned. The ketchup in French's, which is Canadian. There's also a huge Canadian flag when you enter this restaurant. I paid at the table. My server gave me the payment machine. I paid with a credit card by tipping and tapping. Done! I used the washroom before I headed home. The washrooms are by the entrance. The women's washroom was clean. The stall that I used was also clean and decent. It's a good Perkins. I'd return for more good eats. I hope that someone checks up on me as much as the other customers in the eatery. (409)
