    Colorful decor

Having had Cora recommended to both of us by multiple people, HG and I decided to check it out for breakfast (one of our favorite meals out). It was a cold, snowy morning with a parking lot full of half-frozen salted slush and people puffing like steam engines, running for shelter...and the line for Cora extended out the doors. (Hey, we waited until the restaurant wasn't a new phenomenon, anymore!) But after the initial disappointment, I noticed that the line moved very, very quickly -- so don't let the size of the line deter you from coming in. The inside of Cora is a little like Disney's It's a Small World, but with a food theme instead of scary shrill little stereotyped pygmy children. Colorful cartoon foodstuffs adorn the walls, and the paint colors alone are enough to wake one up (and make one reach for sunglasses). Upon entering the restaurant proper, one is greeted with a giant mound of fresh fruit, which is both inviting and a fairly accurate prediction of what one's plate will eventually look like. Everything is served with fruit! Gobs and gobs of ripe fresh fruit -- don't ask me how they do it, because this is not representative of what's in the supermarkets! The breakfast menu is extensive -- I mean seriously extensive -- and everything on the menu looks delicious. Enter, the Baskin-Robbins dilemma: you're hungry, and there are so many delicious choices that you freeze like a deer in the headlights and can't make up your mind. Starving as we were, I think we asked the waitress for more time twice. I ended up getting a ham and cheese grilled crepe (crepe + panini sandwich press = delicious, melty and crispy), with a humongous pile of fruit. I skipped the fresh fruit smoothies, even though they looked fabulous. HG got a potato-egg mess that he wolfed down like it was his last meal (I couldn't get more than happy grunts of enjoyment out of him). It was all delicious. The waitress was efficient, friendly without being too present, and the breakfast showed up shockingly fast (and steaming hot), given how busy the place was. The price was even reasonable. AND I stayed within my calorie budget. How nice is that? I have a sneaking suspicion this place is single-handedly going to save a bunch of college students from malnutrition.

Waffle with fruits and whipped cream on top

I have been to Cora but different locations (ones in Montreal mostly), so I was expecting similar or even the same menu here. There is a lot to chose from the menu for sure. I was craving for something sweet, fruity to start my Saturday! And it is conveniently located in Guelph near the campus. Although the place is quite spacious, expect to line up on weekend mornings. Friendly and fast service, typical "Cora" atmosphere. I got a waffle topped with fruits and whipped cream. It was BIG! I definitely got my fix for something sweet and fruity. Fruits were very fresh and waffle was fluffy. Overall, I had nothing to complain about and my belly was content :P I would go back when I crave for Cora style breakfast!

Nasty!!!! Microwave bacon 100% .. nasty runny scrambled eggs and hardly cooked "home fries" all around just nasty !

Smaller portion April 89 crepe with hazelnut spread.

Just tried this place for the first time and I was very impressed with the cheese and fruit plate! I've never been to a breakfast place that makes fruit arrangements. I went with a group of 8 and our food still came out fairly quickly. I ordered the smaller portion April 89 crepes with hazelnut spread and it was huge! Their cafe latte was very good. I definitely recommend this place for breakfast.

    Mmmmmmmm yes!! Finally!!

not to be strict on Cora's, but I thought 3 stars is straight forward. Not the best, it's still good. I'd go back again.

The staff is super friendly and I appreciate the loyalty cards for coffee and bread. The bakery itself is small but so quaint being in an old historical house. Great location and customer service…read more Scones: Decent. A little sweet (which I like), served with whipped cream and strawberry jam. Fruit: The fruit was the best part of all our meals here. It was so fresh and sweet, which I thought would be difficult to find outside of California! I also enjoyed it with cottage cheese, which is not so common at breakfast spots in California unfortunately. Tea: The tea is enjoyable but pretty average when compared to bougier tea spots like The Bruce in Stratford. It's not clear how long I should let it steep for for optimal flavor. I preferred the Winter Dream green tea, which was warm and cozy, slightly sweet. I also preferred the McCrae over the Boathouse blend. The Boathouse blend was a little basic for me, and the McCrae had a slight sweetness that I enjoyed. High Tea: Average - a good price and pleasant experience, especially if the weather is nice enough to eat outside (and catch a bald eagle flying by!). My favorite dessert was the carrot cake cupcake. Ice Cream: Yes, ice cream and tea is definitely a good idea! The banana cream pie tastes like your classic Runts banana flavor (the original banana that got wiped out) and the black cherry has plenty of big cherry pieces. Great servings, and we loved that they served them in reusable bowls instead of disposable ones. Would definitely come again!

It was very busy when we walked in. We got a table right by the door. There were artwork and paintings hung all around the cafe - it was cute. I ordered an afternoon tea set, as well as an extra breakfast burrito for my guest and I to share. There is a tea menu to look at all the various options they have. It was nice to see that they had many options to choose. Our set came with mini sandwiches, scones and dessert and fruits. I would definitely come back to visit - it would be nice to come in the summer and book a table out on their patio.

The appetizers (calamari, mozza sticks, and wings) were great! Very solid choices although personally the wings (medium) were a little too sweet for us. Service was ok but the waitress did seem a bit stressed. The mains, however, were a bit disappointing. The burgers were just ok, my halloumi in the halloumi salad was burnt (although the salad itself was great), and the children's cheese sandwich was also burnt. The fish & chips were very oily. Usually I really want to like and rate local establishments well as I am a local myself, but burnt food is a no-no and unfortunately with kids I don't really have the time to ask for a remake. Great vibes for a good beer though.
