Let me just say yum. Not sure if these ingredients are actually good but they taste pretty tasty. The soup was creamy and the bread fresh and buttery. The butternut taste was spot on and it was super comforting. The pizza was pretty good: the crust very pillowy and the sauce meh. The actual like main dough was super thin which was strange but tasted kinda good. We also got a slice of cake that was super rich and triple chocolate. The food was pretty good and I will say taste around the same as like 3 years ago. Our server, Brendan, was pretty nice and we did get our food very quickly considering how busy it was. I will say that they put their freaking cook book everywhere. It is on. The tables and in the decor( which is pretty nice). Like I would honestly say maybe tone it down a little wow. I just wonder are those actually real or are the like just covers cause they have about 1 million just sitting around. So pretty much that and the price is what takes off a star. It's been a while since I grabbed a patio bite near the downtown Guelph. For anyone who isn't aware of how things work in the TriCity and Guelph area, Cambridge has no night life but Kitchener-Waterloo and Guelph does. So if you're single ready to mingle city definitely matters :) This was a nice hidden gem, I actually have never been to it but was on the quest for a "real patio" location. Google reviews were pretty good said my partner so we stopped in. They were busy but squeezed us in with a 1.5hr time limit on the table because another reservation was already received -we were grateful. We ordered the the calamari and the Apple and Bacon pizza. The calamari was wonderful, not from premade frozen. The batter was lightly seasoned and it was served with some light pieces of sausages, fried battered lime and kale chips. The drips were amazing and tasted freshly batched. Warning, if you're not able to eat pork, do advise them for accomodations :) The pizza was lightly salted, lots of cheese with light apple and bacon. Not over topped and not under topped with some kind of dried green on top. The crush was nice, it seemed to be made on the oily side but okay. My only feedback is the pizza was a bit on the soggy side. The location seems quite sustainable with boxes for takehome and leftover. This restaurant is very symbolic of Guelph being sustainable, green and fundamentally serving the earth. I have to say that this place really takes care to serve even water, by serving filtered water which is nice because Guelph tap water can be quite hard and is an acquired taste. We were served by someone appeared to be in training and was shadowed by a senior staff. Great management and supervision of the newbies. Newbie did great :) There are two patios located on the premise with proper fire exits. I am a fan of the rear patio completely shaded with a roof and heaters are mounted for the cold days that are hard wired. The patio is truly well setup. Washrooms were very nice with very nice aesthetic doors and were clean. They were non gender assigned and individualized two piece. Kind of reminds me of one of the bars downtown that has individual stalls. :) I actually cant wait to return, I would love to try the brunch service. read more

Hi Yelpers! Been here before at the Hamilton location. Thought I'd try a different location and different food. The restaurant is in a plaza with a reasonable amount of parking. The restaurant also offers dine-in and patio. The servers, some wore masks and some did. The washrooms are gender neutral. The vibe is casual. Moderately loud. Polite server who was attentive. In terms of food, we got the calamari as an appetizer, it was breaded nicely. The dipping sauces were house cocktail sauce and garlic sauce. There were two thinly slices chorizo and fried onions? My partner had the Buddha Bowl, which composed of farm greens, minted millet and peas, tamari mushrooms, pickled red onions (weren't too tart), cilantro, sesame slaw (refreshing), chili like cracker (meh) and his chosen meat was flank steak (reasonable sized portion). Other options were chicken, salmon and fried tempeh. I had the BEE STING pizza. It's composed of red sauce, mozza, spicy salami (not too spicy;mild heat), basil, honey (brought a good sweetness), lemon ricotta (don't taste it much), and chili oil. The crust is tastes. Love it. For dessert we shared the Maple Walnut Bread Pudding. Unsure what bread putting is suppose to be like but there break needed force to slice up the vanilla ice cream with the candied walnuts is fantastic. I would definitely go back! Came here for brunch with family and it really is a good deal. We were sure to make a reservation and it was endless small plates made to order and a buffet of fruits, pizza. Some sweets, salads and more. The brunch deal is $35 and included two drinks as well. This place definitely didn't skimp out on food and it is delicious. You were able to go up to the buffet as you please and the server took our orders for the food made to order. The food was tasty and the made to order items came out fairly fast. Dropped by for a quick bite while passing through Guelph. With the whole pandemic going on, we were looking for a place where a patio was open however it was completely booked full (resos definitely recommended). They had a separate makeshift patio on the side with a couple extra tables and chairs to accommodate for drop-ins which were great! We did get stuck with a table under the sun though :( Aside from that, the service was friendly and the pizzas we ordered were delish. While driving back from Elora, we wanted to stop off at a cute place to grab a drink and relax. Googling, we came across this place with pretty good reviews so we decided to try it. I had been wanting to visit this restaurant for so long and was finally able to make it happen! My friend and I sat on the patio which is covered and has heat lamps. To start, we ordered the fall sangria which was amazing. It was a red wine base with cinnamon and orange flavours - yum! I always think it's funny when fries are an appetizer but after ordering the ones here, I get it now. You must try these! The aoili on the side was to die for. As a main, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to try their wood oven pizza titled the Lil' Stinker. Blue Cheese is my favourite and the menu read: "White sauce, mozza, blue cheese, double garlic, kale, pepperoni, red onion, chili flakes" It was as dreamy as it sounds. We ordered pizza from here the other night - the lil stinker. I've been to bread bar in Hamilton but I hadn't been to the one here. We both loved it! It's white sauce, mozzarella, blue cheese, double garlic, kale, pepperoni (which you can order to only be on half), red onion and chilli flakes. The combo is super yummy if you like the above ingredients. The $17 small 11 inch is more than enough for 1 person and I imagine the $32 large would be enough for 3-4. Driving back to the city from Elora, this spot was recommended to us by a family member and it did not disappoint! We had beautiful weather so we sat outside on the front patio, where they did an excellent job with social distancing. Our server and food were excellent. They offer a wide range of pizzas, and other options but we went for the za. Personal sized pizzas are $17 but these are pretty good sized at 11". They also had pretty fun 'fall' seasoned cocktails. Have been here many times for brunch/lunch/dinner and the food is always delicious. A little on the pricier side but you definitely get what you pay for. Love coming here for brunch because there is always so much selection, and the 2 boozy drinks that are included is also a plus. I get the mimosas most of the time but I have also had their peach sparkling wine and it is delicious. They have a great selection of pizzas and although the margherita pizza was a little underwhelming, every other pizza I've had from there has been nothing short of excellent. I went to the Bread Bar a few weeks ago for the first time. I ordered the Avocado Chicken Club with no avocado, multigrain bread, not toasted, salad with dressing on the side. I was so excited to try this place out! But I was a bit disappointed. Firstly, the coconut milk cocktail I received fell short of my expectation. For $11 I expected far better presentation and it was incredibly boozy (I felt I needed a chase for it!). I was not able to even finish half of it because it tastes so awful. I also got a 11 inch Margherita pizza which was all crust. This crust tasted strangely bitter as well. Pros: - the service was really good, staff were friendly and accommodating. - they do their sweets really well, I recommend the French toast pudding, must try and delicious! - the salads were fresh and made with good ingredients. I especially liked the beet salad. Cons - the pizza were cold. They were placed on platters with no heating element, I've heard their pizza is one of the highlights, I thought they would take more care to serve them hot? - most of the savoury dishes were not really seasoned and tasted bland. Its my second time visiting and boy, was it good. We ordered the bee sting pizza and if I were to sum it up, I would call it an excellent creation. The addition of honey was unique and introduced me to flavours I never have tasted on a pizza. I really want to visit again just to have this pizza. I would highly reccommed you try it. For beer, I tried Beau's lager. I havent heard about this beer up until recently. It has the hoppy flavour with hints of lychee, similar to an IPA, but without the intense bitterness. It was 2 for 2. First time going to brunch in Guelph and I was happy with my choice. I was happy to have an all you can eat experience and the price is decent when you consider 2 alcoholic beverages are included in the price (don't worry, they are Breakfast friendly). The food was very good. Out of all the options that I tried, of things you could pick up from the food bar and the things you could order off the menu, I liked them all. I tried the mushroom bruschetta, the omelette, the smoked salmon on toast and the fruit salad from the menu, and they were all quite good. The mushroom bruschetta I would recommend mostly highly! The location has cute decor and friendly staff, the only problem were a couple of items we ordered were first forgotten. But out of everything we ordered, forgetting a couple items isn't too bad. That is the only reason I would rate bread bar a 4 instead of a 5 out of 5. I would definitely still recommend trying it out! I went back for dinner and I was still quite impressed. The umami burger was very good and there hummus plate was also good. My friends also had the roast salmon bowl and the olive you too pizza and really enjoyed it. However I would not recommend the calamari as it is was chewier than I would like and the bread plate had good bread but rather weird bread toppings. My rating still is a solid 4 out of 5. read more

I'm a huge fan of The Bread Bar and go here often for lunch and dinner. Today was the first time we tried it for brunch to celebrate my birthday. Their website does not do a good job of explaining the experience - $30 per person, all you can eat and it includes 2 alcoholic drinks from their menu. But it's a little more complicated... The price seemed high to me and we almost didn't go. But they have such an interesting approach: they present a menu which lists about 6 drinks to choose from (espresso drinks are extra), a list of their cold lunch-type items, three different pizzas, and a dessert cart which are all displayed buffet style, and a menu of breakfast items served kinda tapas-style which you can order as you like. Everything is all-you-can-eat. We started with the peach wine belliini-style drink and a cocktail called a Frenchie. We also had coffee. We ordered the French toast, "all the sides" and the poached pear with crème anglaise and hazelnuts and we shared all of these. The plates are small but it really was quite good. We moved on to the bbq beef with potato hash and a poached egg along with the rootbeer beans and glasses of beer. Then we both had a slice of pizza and some fresh baked bread with raspberry jam. Not wanting to skip dessert we had a piece of pumpkin pie, blueberry pie, a brownie and a peanut butter cookie. We just had tastes of these. What a clever idea! I love the tapas breakfast approach - it was such a great way to sample so much while sharing it with my boyfriend. This was unique, fun and of course delicious. And it was pricey but what a smart approach for a restaurant to do this and the place was packed with a cozy atmosphere. The only improvement I would make is in the bar items. The beer was the best item we tried. They have such an opportunity to really create something special. The peach wine with sparkling wine was simply bad. And the Frenchie wasn't very good either. I think they could've done a lot more and created something super special. Regardless, we will be back, and will bring friends. read more

The place has a very nice decor that makes for a great atmosphere to just sit and chat over drinks. The food, however is less to be desired. We started off with the calamaris which I found to be too salty. The mayo was squeezed on one side of the dish instead of on the side. The chef made a mistake of placing the lemon on the bed of condiments as well. The chorizos were deep fried along with what I am assuming is thyme and lemon. All of those were pretty much charred so does not leave much for taste. I do not suggest to squeeze the provided lemon on as that created an undesirable bitterness. Next was the avocado and chicken sandwich. We ordered a multi grain but it came out on a white one. For the price, it was a very tiny bread that was the size of my tiny palm. Both my partner and I found the sandwich to be pretty bland as there was no seasoning on the chicken. The highlight for this was the accompanied fries. Finally came the pizza. We ordered the small Original Wise Guy to share. I didn't eat it as I felt bloated, but my partner did and the dough was not thoroughly cooked. We packed it home and it sat at the back of the fridge until garbage collection day. Drinks were also ordered. One raspberry green tea mojito and one lavender lemonade. I thought the lemonade was decent. Refreshing for a hot summer day. The mojito was expensive, filled with 3/4 glass full of ice and lacking. Decor-wise, Bread Bar is very nice with a modern lounge feel and I do enjoy the patio. Initially my partner said he would give this place another try; just for the patio, I have already decided to cross it off my list. Come for the wood fire pizza. Its so good. One of the best I have ever tasted in my life. Everything carb related taste amazing here. This is what they excel at. Carbs for life. The calamari is also really good app. Drinks are all solid choices as well. Plenty of parking in the back. The service is really solid too. IMO the best resto in Guelph.
