I think something about the tomato sauce is a bit different from your classic Italian pizza. They also have sesame seeds on their crust which may throw some people off (I didn't mind it though). I think I have to be in the mood for it to go get some again. Otherwise, the place isn't half bad and service was pretty fast.

Ordered over the phone, the woman who answered the phone had a hard time understanding what my order was, but she was still nice. Upon picking up my order I asked the gentleman to add a dipping sauce, he says "no, that's not included" I had to ask a second time so that I could get a dipping sauce fed to my bill. When I got home to open to the pictures included. The pizza was so thin that all of the toppings fell off as soon as I tried to pick a piece up. So I called to explain my frustration and without hesitation they told me the would give me a full refund if I brought it all the way back there. All and all, their customer service is decent but the food itself was VERY disappointing.

To my surprise the pizza tasted great. The toppings were fresh, red sauce not too salty and not too sweet, applied in the right amount, cheese had good stretch which means they are using aged mozzarella. The crust was light, crispy, and had a nice brown on it, but a little on the thick side and could use more charring and chew. They baked the pie on a pan rather than on the oven, which is a no no. However, the taste of the pie reminded me of old school pizzas in Toronto. I will definitely come back for more if I am in the area.

Nestled on a side-street off busy James St N as you travel up the mountain, you'll find Flora on the ground floor of a older residential-looking building. The first thing you'll notice walking inside is actually how small this place is - the pizza ovens and prep area take up most of the space. But there's something incredibly charming about that because you have high hopes that if they dedicate that much space to food prep, it's gotta be good. Happy to report that their pizza lives up to the hype! Pizza is baked in a sheet-pan with a semi-thick crust that's soft yet crispy at the edges. Crust is on the thicker side relative to some Italian restaurants and pizza chains, but the composition of the dough makes it work because it has a bite but not too tough/thick where it gives your mouth a workout. I also loved their fresh tomato sauce. It balanced so well with the cheese and toppings, giving the pizza a nice freshness so that it didn't feel as heavy. My only critique was that I wanted more basil on my pizza (I love me some basil!)

The pizza was watery / soggy in the middle. The sauce is ok - it's pretty plain tomato sauce, but then you get stronger bites of italian seasoning as you're eating (making me think - they sprinkle the seasoning separately, rather than have it in the sauce?). The crust is nice and thin, though it's a little like unleavened bread - the heel of the crust really doesn't rise. They don't have a good handle on toppings vs cheese - several times the cheese pulls away from the crust, leaving you with empty crust to eat....also the Italian sausage was loose and falls everywhere. There was also a chunk of bone/tooth in the first pizza (yes, that's an EWW). The delivery guy was cheerful and friendly though. So, I give them a 3/5.
